Hi this a excelent ROM!! i love it! but the Wifi disconnects every 5 minutes or less...and reconnect, How i can fix this?
same here,
using slade's new ROM, "GinTonic.SE | v1.3" ....
any ideas ?
I don't know why, but using ondemand or performance profile I don't have that issue. Test it and tell me

Mmm.. Do you have bluetooth or EDGE/3G activated ? It might make some problems.
Another thing, which policy suspension do you have for WiFi ?
after trying everything, i used a static IP to connect and finally it seems to work.
thanks for your interest.
i haven't bluetooth or EDGE/3G active, the policy suspension of is never! i format sd card and reinstall rom but the problem continues....

Same for me
The same problem in almost all these ROMs.
I'm using the MiniCMPro V7 and I'm trying to debug it by reading the logcat and editing some config files, will post/edit any advance later.
It worked by using aymanxp's method as a workaround.
By reading the logcat I found that something is forcing the dhcp server on the phone to lease a new IP after some time [receives a SIGTERM] although it obtained an infinite lease.
In other topic, why android does not have a separated config (Static/dynamic, IP, DNS, etc...) for each wireless connection?
B.R.
Update:
Well, my actual conclusion is that the WifiStateTracker Daemon is forcing DHCP to request ip renewal every 5 minutes or so, and if there are a valid or infinite lease in place, dhcp returns an error after waiting, so WifiStateTracker gets the wifi down and restarts DHCP, so lame.
Tried to find any config file but found none, only dhcpcd and wpa_supplicant, but nothing about the daemon.
So to have the wifi working properly, from now, the right way is to don't use dhcp?

Nope, won't work either.
@Pierrot12:
As a temporal workaround, yes
We can use static IP, but that would work just if using only one Wi-Fi network (as in the house OR the work), but for people like me, using more than one network, it's very annoying to edit the parameters every time the AP changes.
I'm tempted to write an app to replace the android's very simple AP managing system
I flash to Sonybread 7 SP3 and the problem continues...
I'm using v6 and I have not had any problems with WiFi. In fact, I think it's the most stable ROM. I have downloaded files flawlessly, which means that WiFi is not disconnecting right? Anyway, I'll put it to test..

Great! good luck
Actually found the problem, but don't know if it would work for anyone.
After some research and hits and misses, found that the problem with the DHCP client running in the MiniCM7-based ROMs does have a incompatibility with "Reserved IP" or "Infinite IP Lease" for a certain MAC, in other words you should use:
A) IP Assigned by the router (not reserved), or
B) Static IP configured on the device.
If that's not your case, then just wait for a fix from the devs or my app (still brainstorming ) or any workaround posted in this thread
@Pierrot12: Thank You!
@eysonfm Yeah, I was on that ROM and it's really stable. But I want MiniCM7 Pro
I have also problems wifi DHCP issues with MiniCM7 Pro V7+
I don't understand, because I got it from one moment to the other
Only
B) Static IP configured on the device.
is working for me
in terminal with netcfg I could see that I got an ip adress over dhcp. In Wifi manager stands getting IP address
I won't do an factory reset, maybe I can help somebody to find the bug by testing somethings
i'm having these issues with minicm7 pro v19 as well...

Also, i discovered that i had the "backup" and "restore..." options enabled under Settings -> privacy enabled. They were causing my phone to receive bad configurations saved in my google account in googles's servers...
so i disabled these otions, re-flashed minicm7pro, set up my router to "not reserve" the address for the minipro's MAC address and everything is working as it should since then!

Hmm are you typing with auto-correction on?
If you mean WPA2-PSK (WPA2 with password), then I can confirm that this works.
I have a similar issue with my 'O2' router (rebranded Thompson 585 V7) and have WPA+WPA2 (WPA-PSK Encryption) setup.
All devices in my home (laptops & Ipod Touch's) have no problems, but my new Hero continually fails to get an IP address. Seems to connect OK but then continualy cycles therough 'Obtaining address'... 'failed'.... 'Obtaining address'!
It did successfully connect once for about 20 mins, but after a phone off/on, has gone back to failing.
I'll experiment further, but may have to return the device
Regards,
Glenn

I'm still waiting for my hero, so I might be wrong. But according to the manual, the hero can only handle WEP encryption on WiFi. WPA/WPA2 are not supported. I think, for the hero to work on WiFi, you must change the encryption on your router either to WEP or to unsecure.

I tried WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK with my Hero and they definitely work. Sorry, mate ;-)
If the OP wants some help he needs to post some useful data about his setup and what works and what does not work.
I can confirm it works for wpa2-psk and PEAPv0/EAP-MSCHAPv2
Wi-FI is not working with secure network
Hi
I had same problem with BT Home Hub2 all i did was a soft rest and it worked and had no more problems so try soft resetting you routor
Well, as posted earlier, despite several hours of every possible combination of settings and factory resets, I can't get my Hero to use my WiFi (WPA+WPA2, WPA-PSK Encryption).
I have seven other devices that have no problems at all (I configured them all), so I'm assuming it's an issue with the Hero. Therefore, it's going back to it's supplier.

Glenn

Yep it may well be a faulty one if its from a store try get them to test it if they can if not the get the new one home and try again you might also wont to try it on someone else wifi see if it works on theres. Also it might be that the amount of device conected to it may be causing a problem on first time setup, you could try it on its own then let other device connect to route worth a try
You should bear in mind that sometimes certain devices just don't get on. Someone posted here earlier with a similar issue, and they found changing their router from the Orange supplied box to another one "fixed" their issue.

Dave
I found problems connecting my Hero to our Belkin N1 Vision ADSL Modem/Router using WPA2-Personal.
In the end it turned out that re-enabling the option to broadcast the SSID solved the problem. For some reason creating a connection manually to a network which does not brodcast caused the issue for me.

Ian

So there is a generic advice, run your wifi in a standard-compliant mode. Broadcast SSID and turn off all the vendor-specific "turbo mode" and "extra-long/short" packets crap.
Problem with wpa2 enterprise
I am not able to connect to wifi at work.
We use wpa2-enterprise with PEAPv0/EAP-MSCHAPv2 and broadcast SSID.
Hero detects wifi network with incorrect security. It displays: "(network SSID) secured with WEP". When I tap on it it asks for WEP hex key...
I tried to add wpa2-enterprise network manually. It says "not in the range" and keeps offering me the above one with wrong security...
any ideas?

This problem still exists (both on slade's MiniCM6/7 rom, and on ALL roms based off this rom). I think this is because it (and they are - other roms based off this rom) is based on "MiniCM" by nobodyAtAll (that rom being the common element). after all it's a miniscule bug that can be fixed instantly.....
wait for it......

in the end if it is such a torturing bug for you, you can always use stock rom
you are allowed to

No, and it should be locked. its just a request thread for the known hided ssid bug...
he have a solution but he is too lazy :S .
To fix the bug he only need to go to his router management page and make the ssid visible.
is there even a reason to have the SSID hidden?
What a troll thread lol
As for me dear nightwing369, I hope the devs never ever change wifi management.
I using CyaNoComb v1.4 and that's wifi managements much better than stock's.
I have triple download speed and sooo much stable than the original
For example with stock rom I have ~200KB/s download speed, and lost connection every minute. With CyaNoComb I have ~500-600KB/s download speed and fully stable (for now, I had issues before -.-).
Instead of making devs angry, you MUST to read a lot about wifi configuration. In custom roms, you have the premission to change EVERYTHING.
But not with arrogance or cry.
s0ftcorn: some guys really thinks, they can hide from wifi stealers/hackers with that disabled ssid broadcast. But they just failed.

What's your setup recommendation for my router (using WPA2/PSK) ? Is it still secure to broadcast the signal? Which WiFi settings (including security settings) do you find best on your phone using CyaNoComb v1.4? Cheers for your help btw

It is secure when nobody knows your password. And the security is with your router not your phone. If your modem is set to WPA Encryption and you decide to use "wep" passcode you won't be able to use the wifi.

You can simply Broadcast the SSID. Thats not protect you from any hacker.
This is my router configuration:
Enable Wireless Router Radio: yes
Enable SSID Broadcast: yes
Name (SSID): ZaiKo
Channel: 3 (Check your place with Wifi analyzer app. Use that channel what doesn't use anybody else, if there isn't free channel, you that what less ppl use)
Mode: 11g only (I setted this manually. My router also can use 'n' but phone doesn't.)
Password encrypt: WPA2-PSK with AES cryption
Transmit Power: High
Beacon Interval: 100
RTS Threshold: 2346
Fragmentation Threshold: 2346
DTIM Interval: 1
Enable WMM: yes
Channel Width: 20MHz
Max Tx Rate: 54Mbps
WDS Status: Disable
And use strong password, what contains capital, non-capital letters, numbers and if you are really crazy, special characters too and use tha longest password what you can remember for it.
That's the problem with most custom roms, they support common cases and that's it. For example xCyanogen doesn't support selecting your mobile provider manually. This is a problem when you live near a country's border and the phone tends to switch to a non home network.
Wifi roaming also doesn't work properly with many custom roms. They connect to the last AP even if its signal is very weak. But nobody uses wifi roaming so who cares..
But hey, random boot animations are the really important thing in a custom rom

i have a galaxy s and ever since installing firmware jvs my wifi sleep policy hasnt worked at all. when i have sleep set to never the wifi reconnects every 59 seconds without fail. when never when plugged in is selected its the same. when turn off when screen turns off is selected the wifi doest turn off with the screen, or at all as far as i can see. infact this is the only setting where the wifi doesnt reconnect all the time (need to test this further to be sure). i think roms are based on the stock gingerbread so maybe its that thats broken?
I'm using Dell streak 10 pro tablet now, and also have same issue as you, you could set the wifi IP manually(static IP), don't by dhcp dynamically.
I'm also finding app to fix the dhcp issue.
Open up Rom Manager and click "Fix Permissions" let it do its thing then restart. That worked for me.
Router information: Linksys Wireless-N WRT120N
I have done everything that i could think of to get this working. i have done several google searches and they all say to do specific things.
For example:
-Reset router
-Enable B/G only or G only set at channel 11
-turn off router firewall settings
-and a bunch of other random sh*t
i have done all of the above then some and i still cant get it to connect. all i get is *scanning* then *disconnected* thats the only two things it says. except right after i reset the router. every time i reset the router i get * obtaining IP yadadada* then goes to *disconnected* then back to the "scanning, disconnected" loop.
there have been some people that have said flashing a custom firmware on the router would fix the issue with mobile connectivity on Wireless-N routers.
please someone be helpful with this and please dont tell me i need to reset my router. i have asked this same question on several forums and the only replies i get are "if you reset the router and turn off security it WILL work fine" thats bull****. im not an idiot. thats the first step any computer literate person would take before asking questions.
**Update: same as from General thread. i had to repost because it was closed for some reason there. also here are the answers to the other two guys to responded.
"not standing close enough" -i have been standing next to it. i have yet to test it more than 10 feet away lol so it cant be there
"flash another rom or reflash current rom" -it has nothing to do with my rom, kernal, or radio. this issue is also happening on my girlfriends xperia running Wolfxperia and mine is the blackeditionHDv2. its also an issue with her sisters xperia. hers is still stock 2.2(i think). their stepdad has an iphone and it wont connect with that either. from what ive gathered... its a mobile issue. i know all these phones say (b or g only) but even setting the router to broadcast in b/g it still wont connect. it notices the routers name with full strength on all devices. also i might add that their laptop is an older laptop. does not support N but still can connect to the router and have internet.
Same here. Xperia mini x10 pro. When on it says connecting even thought I nothing appear visible.

any idea on how i can solve this?
I'm guessing this is an ip issue. The mobile devices are not able to get one. This usually happens to me on a public network and I even get a " limited or no connectivity".
The work around I do is to assign a static ip on my phone. Its very simple to do and if you need help doing it, let me know.
There's no clear explanation I can tell you, but it seems some mobile devices have a hard time pulling ip's from different types of routers. Hope this helps.

Will ask my gf to give it a try. It happened so abruptly, it was working fine when she was at col then when she came back it won't detect any wifi, whether it's her house or mine, and now that she is back at her col she still can't connect.
I know how you feel.
I have had this issue ever since I first upgraded to Stock 2.3.3 last July. On 1.6 and 2.1 (both stock also) I never had issues.
Basically, in my case, resetting the router DOES solve the problem, but only for a limited time. This limited time is random, as sometimes it will work for a few days, and then sometimes it will cut out a few hours again after I have reset my router. I am also using the static IP method (and an app called WiFi Stat which I initially thought had solved the problem, but it hasn't) I'm not sure what triggers the WiFi connection to be lost, but there must be a trigger. Like I said, I never had this issue in my previous old Android versions.
I had hoped (somewhat naively) that moving to a custom ROM would solve the issue, but after installing Wolf's latest ROM, I still have this issue.
Have you tried anything based on 2.3.4 or above, to see if this is an Android 2.3.3 issue? Are there any good ROMs people could recommend that are based on higher versions than 2.3.3?
WEP/WPA key issue?
If its not the kernel/ROM/version of the phone, it could have something to do with the way the security is set up for your router. I had the most frustrating time logging into my university's wireless (think it was encrypted with 802.1x EAP) which required username and password. Though most home-owned router are equipped with WPA/WPA2 PSK or WEP, you can try the steps below:
1. Go to Settings ->Wi-Fi Settings -> Add Wi-Fi network
2. Type in the network SSID (yeah this is the manual part)
3. Open the "Security" drop-down box and set the following:
Security: 802.1x EAP
EAP method: PEAP (default)
Phase 2 auth.: MSCHAPV2
CA cert.: leave unchanged
User cert.: leave unchanged
4. Type in username (if any) and password.
Once again, this would work 99% for 802.1x...not sure about WPA/WEP. Good luck!
Try Channel 6 in router option and hope it works.

setting a static ip doesnt seem to work.. any idea? i wish not to re-flash as i dun think that would be a permanent solution.
again i dun think it has anything to do with my router as other gadgets are able to connect with it and i didnt fiddle with the security.
It is unable to detect any router as i have tried it different hotspots.
Hope to get some help.
------------------------------------
I wipe clear the settings and it worked again.. hope the problem doesn't persist again.
