what this means is simple, you can do whatever you want with this software
Ok guys some of you may know me from teh nexus s 4g forums, some of you may remember all the way back to the epic and heroc forums anyways got a few pm's about making a nice easy one click. told em in its current state there just was no way i could take on the task. anyways its come to my attention that there was a way to do it via scripts now and without needing the dock, so i looked it over and wrote up a quick script. so here you have it the very first AIO for the photon 4g. what makes it special you ask? its got windows mac and linux scripts in it, so no one gets left out .
I will not be accepting donations for this script. if you wish to show appreciation, show it to the guy who wrote the exploit, who made the root even possible... without him we would all be using photon torpedo (iirc he even had a hand in that). You can donate to him here

Thank you and everyone everyone else who made this possible! It's amazing how fast you contributors get stuff done i will be trying this out tomorrow for sure.

Any prerequisites? Do we need and drivers for the USB connection? I'm assuming we need phone in debug mode, drivers from Motorola, and ADB already installed? Is that correct? Got any instructions on how to use?

readme is included and yes drivers are on your own, ill look around the forum and try to find a link and add it to the op tho - done
adb.exe and linux/mac binaries are included so should just run out of the box if youve got usb debugging on and drivers

I just ran the .bat and it didn't work. I can provide the contents of the command prompt if that would help.

please do
like i said i dont have a photon 4g so any feedback is most appreciated

if you wanna thank me thats fine but if you wanna donate please instead donate to the real devs here, from what little ive read seems like edgan is the go to guy for this, a lil to mikeyind so he gets some motivation to bring yall a cool rom wouldnt be a bad idea

Root Amaze 4g 1.45.1500.2

I've seen the Zerg root for the 4G, but after reading some comments about it there's been speculation that the 1.45.1500.2 is Zerg root proof. It there a way to root the Amaze with 1.45.1500.2 software?
On another note... I'm not able to tether with my phone? i'm able to make a hot spot and all yet, I cannot connect any devices to it. The devices seem to not be able to acquire the IP address.
All tips and suggestions are helpful, so please comment as I'm sure you'll be able to help me with my issues one way or another.
Have you unlocked your bootloader?
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using xda premium
*edit
What's the complete process in rooting the device with the 1.45.1500.2 software? I'm going to bootload it as soon as it's fully charged.
To unlock your bootloader:
Go to http://htcdev.com/register/ and register an account with them.
Then select "Begin Unlock bootloader"
Follow the steps. It is easy. Just back up your info because when you unlock it, it will require a hard reset.
To do install ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWM), go to this link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316855
Follow the instructions that says "Installation from fastboot (hboot only ||Hard Method||):" (It's actually very easy and it worked on the new ROM update)
Download the ClockworkMOD 5.0.2.7 Amaze 4g and not the ClockworkMOD 5.0.2.0 Amaze 4g.
To root, you can install a prerooted Custom ROM or you can download SuperUser (SU) from here
http://www.multiupload.com/TI14RLNE8A
Just boot into CWM and flash the su-2.3.6.3-ef-signed.zip if you want to root it with your stock ROM.
To get WiFi Tethering working, you need root (duh).
Download WiFi Tether for Root Users 3.1-beta9
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/detail?name=wifi_tether_v3_1-beta9.apk
After you install it, press the menu button. Select "Settings". Change the Device Profile to HTC Amaze / HTC Ruby. You are good to go!
Much appreciated, will try this tonight and will get back to you
Alright, so I've tried the Bootloader process and I've received an error:
We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.

That's after I went through the steps and had to paste the coding from the cmd onto the site. What's the problem?

Zerg not working on my unlocked Amaze
I have unlocked my bootloader and am running 1.43.531.3. I get pretty much the same set of errors every time I run the bat file. I have tried factory resetting it 3 times and trying again, but it always does the same thing. Occasionally it'll also say rm failed: no such file or directory on the adb shell rm /data/local/tmp/*sh command. USB debugging is on.

Still getting the same errors as before. :/
edit* is there any report as to when the HTCdev page will be fixed?
I tried is an hour ago. The HTCDev site is working. I got my friend's unlock key.
its not the HTCdev site, its the way you copied the key over to the box. absolutely no spaces are allowed.
but im gettin the same error for zerg. this is crap, i basically blanked my phone just to unlock it and restore everything.
is this a software version problem?

Assuming you are trying to root, you might try this approach. Worked for me. After the wifi update I had to reset to factory and remove CWM to get the update to install. After the update I did this again and all went well except I got an error during the root process using the file I downloaded from that thread. Thought maybe I was out of luck, but after rebooting the phone it was rooted. Been working fine for the past several days.

because i am new to this xda i cant post in the right forum so hopefully this will be moved to the CASUAL one-click installation forum.

Superuser is installed and thats it. no root.
What version are you running?
If ICS try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710871
If GB try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341578
I've used both and they *do* work.
What OS are you running? MacOS?
Mac OSX Snow Leopard
What root method are you trying to use?
i used the CASUAL Public Beta 4, but it wouldnt root. It only installed Superuser. Then I tried the one mentioned above- Eternity Easyroot. However, when I unzip the file, I don't know how to run the actual program. In the unzip file there's a linux file, a windows .bat file which says theres no program to open it on Mac OSX, and then an actual Mac OSX .sh file. I dont know how to run it.

I rooted my Mango once... and can't do it now o.O

OK, here's what I've done. I downgraded and rooted my SK17 several hours ago, and then removed some bloatware. everything went great, but then I decided I want to replace stock camera app with this one. as I didn't know how to do it, I thought "hey, why don't just delete the SemcCameraUI.apk from system/app and replace it with downloaded one"? so I did it, but it still didn't want to work. so I tried to reboot the phone. the app still wasn't working [by then I guessed it's not the way it's done], and then Root Explorer decided that it doesn't want to work with such a stupid human and told me that it can't delete the apk nor change the permissions because it's a read-only file. and the SuperUser app was force-closing.
so I flashed the phone with .58 again, I learnt that I lost the root, so I tried rooting it again, and then I got the message from the zergRush script:
failed to copy 'files\SuperUser.apk' to 'system/app/./SuperUser.apk': Read-only file system

any suggestion what should I do to root it again?
note: every time I flashed .ftf file, I was unchecking "wipe data", "wipe cache" and "wipe apps log".

at first I realized the antivirus removed the ZergRush file so I disabled it and unpacked the archive once again, but still no result.

There's your fault.
As I had suspected it..
The anti-virus removes the ZergRush file even from the .zip or .rar file..
Disable anti-virus, download the rootingkit files again and the unpack and root your phone..
NOTE: While rooting, using flashtool, flashing kernel, please disable anti-virus temporarily.
And also while rooting your phone close flashtool if it's open.
all done, thanks! turns out I'm too dumb to remember that antivirus can peek inside zipped files.
btw, can anyone hint me how to replace the camera app with the one I was trying to?

NP
And flash the MDPI-GB-CamExtreme.zip file using CWM..
It's only for stock ROM I guess.
And don't forget to backup first using CWM.
thanks once again! thread can be locked now.

Sorry for my short answer but I recommend you to try (if you have adb drivers working) z4root or superoneclick.
The root process in Android is not as difficult as it seems. Just use a exploit to adb push files and change to rw system.

I just attempted both of those root methods and also ZergRush nothing seems to work

Make sure to have the correct Adb drivers, sometimes the google drivers doesn't work with the oems driver...
If it doesn't work try with doomslord method. I'm getting without ideas

I'm having the same problem. I've rooted many Android devices. Yes USB debugging is enabled. Yes I can get adb access to the phone with a user level shell prompt. Yes it shows up in device manager as an Android Composite ADB interface. Yes I've added the PID and VID to android_winusb.inf.
Superoneclick gets stuck at step 7.
This phone seems like a decent phone for my wife (as a replacement for her stolen Samsung Galaxy S 4G), but it's LOADED with bloatware. I really need to figure out how to root this thing.

Try the doomslord method then. This method works pretty fine in lots of unnoficial or non tested devices.

ALL DONE!!!
Press any key to continue . . .
After that mount error I adb shelled in tried su for the heck of it and got permission denied. Also confirmed normal user can run mount. Checked df and /system is 370M, but only has 7M free. I wonder if that's the problem? How much space is needed for the zergrush method? Obviously I can't remove anything from /system if that is the problem. Also the df output is standard unix output so doesn't look like his bat file does very good error checking or does something odd.
For some problem the exploit doesn't works... Sniff...
