[Q] Q: Unbrick X10i by flashtool SEUS PCC...All failed - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First, have to say thank you for the works on Flash Tool. As I see, there are lots of ppls benifit from it and enjoy it... little bit jealous...
In my case, I couldnt manage to update my X10i to flash OS or anything. Pls investigate my case...
Actually, my Phone was "Bricked" while when I was updated by SEUS, the processing was stucked at about 25%, and it prompt "...lost connection...error occur..." then, i restart phone, only red led blinks every 2-3 sec. I realize it perhaps problem with battery, then i charge the battery overnight, and it was full charged. Now, when i turn it on, it shows green blink and a little vibration... and that is it, no any sign of booting...after try tens of time repairing, reinstalling through the SEUS and PC Comp, USB ports swap, None of them worked...
I found flash tools and guide on google, then download everything that needed for flash tool, I have latest JRE, PCC, SEUS installed, some stock ROM, Custom ROM.. downloaded. Also i did try to flash ROM of Ver. 1.6, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3. None got through the whole process,i believe everything was following the guide. BUT it all got stucked right after FLASHING LOADER...here is my log.

I saw some video on youtube, they only use 4-5min to flash a new OS, but in my case it took my 5mins to flash a loader.sin (<10k.) it must be something wrong with my PC's config or Handset's hardware??? Could you give a hand on this, try to figure out what is causes for my X10i? I was totally pissed off these days. Using backup phone for a week, and lost all the contacts info on my phone...

Did you try it on another computer?
If you can, do that. Be sure to install the gordon gate drivers first. After that plug in the x10 a few times and the computer should give a message of installation. Also connect it in flash mode a few times as that uses different drivers.
I suspect corrupted drivers are the fault, hope I am right.

yes, i tried 3 different computers.
what is the correct environment for flashtool set up. i installed both SEUS, PCC, JRE(latest), what else needed?

Did you try fully charging your phone and removing the battery for a minute?
Which OS's were the computers using?
Which version of flashtool were you using. The beta or the stable 0. 2. 8 version? Try that one if you haven't already.
It seems to stop after the loader has been flashed. When flashing you can choose what to flash, did you try skipping the kernel? Just flash a few other files excluding the kernel. Check if that works.

yes, it was fully charged. will try your leads tonight. Thanks ahead, and will see again.

it seems all done previously. i did use 0.2.8, did skipped kernel.sin but it will stop at other point. once did sucess for 2 files loader.sin and userdata.sin, but both are small size file, only 10k... I am wondering my ROM phsically damaged at certain place in handset, leads this cant write into it. Is there any tools can use to scan and Repair the rom in handset? all can we skip the bad sector by any change. it similiar to windows diskchk and pm does.
any suggestion?

I'm not that much of an expert but I don't think it uses the Rom when flashing new files.
I think there is nothing wrong with the software as you tried it on different computers and also tried different roms.
Or if you only tried one, try downloading the Rom again.
Do you have another usb cable that you can use while flashing? Or can you try the cable you are using now on another phone to transfer a somewhat bigger file?
It could be that your cable is broken. Like ear phones. If they are broken you can only hear one side or or nothing at all when bending the cable.

issues solved, it was not a software problem, just a connector doesnt conect tie...thanks anyways.

[Q] Issue with flash tool

I'm trying to use the graphical flash tool to flash my ATT x10a to 2.1 and have everything working but the flash tool keeps getting hung up on "flashing system.sin" everything appears to be going smooth but it has been stuck there for 20+ minutes. I've gone through everything twice and same issue.

I'm trying to reinstall the "latest" udapte through SEUS now and then re-running the flash tool to see if that'll get me anywhere. I'm running windows 7 so i don't know if its an issue with permissions, the flash tool or my phone.

Make sure you turn off UAC and disable any anti-virus/malware.
Ive disabled UAC and antivirus, SEUS gets to about 30% of the install portion of the update and locks up then tells me "install failed make sure your phone is fully charged and try again" the phone is charged fully (or nearly now) I noticed in the log the first time i ran the flash tool that i got an error that wasnt there the second time, now after restarting the comp its back:

after this line it continues, is this normal? it still locks up on "flashing system" forever. I'm plugged into a USB hub so i was wondering if its the speed of the port being to slow but it works fine up until there. I'm gonna try a direct port and see if it makes a difference...
OK, it appears to have been the USB port. It finished the flash but now when I go to boot the phone I get a picture of an exclamation point in a triangle and it shuts back off.

Hello, I have the same problem. When flashing with flashtool (v2.8 and 2.9.1) it freezes on "flashing loader" for a while, then it displays exactly the same messages written above. When flashing with SEUS it detects the phone, downloads the firmware and then freezes just at the beginning of the flashing process, and after few minutes it displays message about checking battery charge level (my battery is fully charged of course).
I am flashing X10i with "Sony Ericsson X10i_2.1.A.435_GLOBAL-GGL GENERIC" firmware I found in tutorial by Rendeiro2005 you mentioned above. Before flashing my phone worked perfectly with Mobilkom A1 branded firmware, but now it doesn't turn on.
Any help is much appreciated

When I try to turn it on, it only vibrates (like usually) but then the screen stays black and nothing more happens.
Flash mode seems to work. The green led lits up and both flashtool and SEUS recognize the phone in flash mode.

I didn't found any "repair function" in SEUS. There's only re-install software function which I tried already. It freezes at the begin of the second progress bar on "Installing software in the phone". After about 5 minutes it displays this message:
"The installation failed. Please disconnect the phone and make sure that the battery is fully charged before trying again. If the problem persists, please contact support."
I also tried to repair the phone with PC Companion, but there is the same problem.

[SOLVED]Flashing kernel for Miui 2.2.1, always getting "turn on Unknown Sources..."
Hey guys.
I'd like to flash my X10 Kernel with the ftf given with the Miui 2.2.1 rom. But the thing is, when I open flashtool, after doing all the steps and when I connect my phone to the computer, here is what I get :
17/007/2012 18:07:46 - INFO - Start Flashing
17/007/2012 18:07:46 - INFO - VER="R8A013";DATE="20100119";TIME="17:24:00";

17/007/2012 18:07:46 - INFO - turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging
It is always turned on, both of them, so I went in, I turned them both off, then again one of them on, then the other one on, then again both on, nothing happens, it's always the same error message.
Somebody can help me please ?
Thanks !
Btw, I am on Miui 2.3.2 Cobrato
With baseband 2.1.71 & Kernel 2.6.29-zdzihu-mod4.05
And I have both CWM and xRecovery.
Try doing the downgrade/upgrade method, flashing from stock, using a different USB cable, or a different computer. Those are the USUAL methods of solving this. After that, it gets tricky. GL!
Thanks, I'll try it now !
EDIT : PC Companion tells me that there is an update (3.0.1.G..., the official 2.3.3 from Sony). If I do this update, will I have to install again xRecovery, CWM, root it, unlock bootloader, etc etc ?
As far as I know, you don't have to update... as long as you have the phone drivers installed on the PC, you should be fine. Updating thru PC Companion or SEUS seems to be pretty much the same as loading a ROM (but official).
On the other hand, I actually updated my phones (two x10s) before unlocking the bootloaders and loading the custom roms on them but I also did full wipes (SD, system, everything through recovery) of them before loading up my current roms and had no issues whatsoever... but I did run into what you ran into when loading up my second phone (wife's) with Oodie Prime X MIUI... so I changed out he USB cord then everything went fine.
So I tried with the charger's USB cable, it doesn't seem to change anything ...
Well, I'll downgrade it and try to start from the beginning.
Thank you
EDIT : Yeah it's done !
I made the update that SEMC wanted me to do, because I didn't know on which generic I should downgrade ^^'. So I did it, then I rooted it, unlocked bootloader, installed CWM, and installed the app from CWM
Thank you for your help !

[Q] How to force PC Companion or SEUS to repair ROM?

How do I force PC Companion or SEUS to repair my X10 mini to restore it to its factory state?
I was running CM7 2.2.0 which was great until 2 weeks ago when I started getting random shutdows and erratic battery stats. Restored to 2.1-update1 using recovery, flashed stock kernel with Flashtool and relocked bootloader. Still having bizarre battery issues (going from 100% to 5% after reboot) and WiFi doesn't work (says 'unable to start Wi-Fi').
When I select the repair option in PC Companion 2.1 (latest version), I select my phone, it starts the update process, then says "No software available" with subtext "There is no software available for your phone. Please try again later."
SEUS doesn't have a repair option and simply says my phone has the latest software.
I tried using a different build.prop file found online to be used to force PCC or SEUS to update but got the same error.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Firmware 2.1-update1
Baseband M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015

Try to start PCCompanion without plug in phone...Choose update and then the repair option. Then Follow the instructions from PCCompanion.
After choosing your phone you have to plug in phone by pressing back button,to get in flash mode..

I'm not sure how you got back to your original firmware, but as far as i'm aware this happens when your provider has tinkered with the firmware, and branded it himself. PC Companion will then recognise a phone not supported by Sony Ericsson but by your provider and refuse to do a repair. I believe you can edit the build-prop to insert a code that signals a stock SE Firmware, which might do the trick. Another trick you can use to get back to factory defaults is to reinstall xRec or CWM and wipe all data, cache and dalvik-cache.
I'm not sure about the WiFi issue, haven't seen that issue in this context, and certainly not on stock firmware, but the battery-issue seems to be caused by MiniCM7-2.2.0, for some people, including myself, at least. Earlier versions of this rom seem to work fine.
What you need to do to get the battery back into reasonably decent state, is let it drain, then charge it with the wall-charger (I would not recommend usb-charging here) in one go until it's completely charged. Try to repeat this a couple of times. I hope this helps you a little.
The question isn't "how to start the repair process" - I can do that just fine (press back when inserting phone, phone starts repair process, etc.). The problem is the error message I'm getting (see original post).
I used xrecovery to restore the backup I made of my 2.1 ROM. I even did the factory wipe and wiped Dalvik cache, but it's still not in full factory state because it still has xrecovery present. Is xrec contained in the kernel tft file I flashed with Flashtool?
I did find the ROM files that SEUS downloaded and decrypted them to .sin files using Flashtool, but since I'm not sure how to create a proper .tft file I don't want to flash those if I can get PC Companion to do its repair job like it's supposed to.
Also the phone is unbranded, purchased unlocked.
You probably had XRecovery installed when you made the back-up of your original ROM, that would be why it's still present after you restored the backup.
In flashtool, choose create bundle if you want to make a .ftf file from the decrypted sin files. I'll go to the procedure again later today, so I can tell you how exactly it is done, but there is a tutorial somewhere in the general section on how to do it, although it's got a few errors in it.
And as to why PC Companion won't let you repair... beats me... I figured it was carrier-related, but it may just be a regional issue.
Anyway, i'll get back to you
OK
If you decrypt the files that SEUS downloaded, you will get a dialog, asking you to select the files to include in the bundle.
There will be about 9 files offered to you.
You can just select all 9 and add them to the bundle, but i usually leave out the fota0, fota1 en simlock.ta files.
(fota is firmware over the air, but since we don't get updates from SE anymore i don't see the point of having them, and simlock.ta gets skipped during flashing on my phone, so it doesn't need to be there)
You need to fill in some information about your device so you get a description of the bundle. in Device type whatever you like (SE X10Mini E10i Robyn), Version should be 2.1.1.A.0.6, Branding can be whatever you like too (Stock or Generic for example). These fields will identify this bundle in the firmware-dialog when you are going to flash.
After that step, when you click on ok, you get a dialog to select your device (choose E10i), and after that you get a dialog asking you locked bootloader or unlocked bootloader. Choose whichever is applicable to your phone, it is used to select the proper loader.sin for the bundle.
After that, just sit back and relax, it will add the files to the bundle and put it in the firmwares folder, so it will be available when you choose to flash.
That's it really, not much to it once you know how to. I hope this helps you
SmG67, thank you so much for your guidance. I created a bundle with the SEUS files, using all of them including the "fota" and "simlock.ta" files just to get it as close to factory state as possible.
After doing this, the Wi-Fi works again which is great, although it still has the problem of shutting off as soon as I insert a SIM card. This definitely seems to be power/battery related, as the phone will report a 100% "full" charge with no SIM inserted, but when I put in a SIM and booted up, even in airplane mode, suddenly the charge level was 5%. Booting again with the SIM out again and it returned to being 100%.
Given this, I tried it performing the repair function again with PC Companion 2.1, and it finally worked, thus solving the original question of this thread: it seems PC Companion won't perform a repair on the phone if the system has been tinkered with in any way. Maybe this was due to xrecovery being installed, or maybe it was due to it being rooted.
Either way, it's now back to factory state, which was my goal. I'll continue trying to condition the battery with full charges and full discharges to see if that helps.
Thank you again, SmG67.
Did you try several Sim-cards? Perhaps your SIM is broken.

I used xrecovery to restore the backup I made of my 2.1 ROM. I even did the factory wipe and wiped Dalvik cache, but it's still not in full factory state because it still has xrecovery present. Is xrec contained in the kernel tft file I flashed with Flashtool?
I did find the ROM files that SEUS downloaded and decrypted them to .sin files using Flashtool, but since I'm not sure how to create a proper .tft file I don't want to flash those if I can get PC Companion to do its repair job like it's supposed to.

check this video you will probably find the solution put this on youtube : sony pc companion there is no software available for your phone

Stuck on Sony Ericsson Logo no matter what (Xrecovery, Flashtool, Pc Companion)

Well first I'm not a noob, been here for more than 3 years.
The problem is serious so here are the details.
My gf's X10i was running on X10s, locked bootloader.
The ROM was unstable so she went to flash the official 3.0.1.G.0.75 using the latest flashtool 0.9.0.0
The problem was that she tried to flash it with the flashtool without installing the drivers for Flashmode. So what happened that the phone kept rebooting, and could not shut down no matter how she pressed on the power button, it's just boot alone.
Although she could access xRecovery, so she restored the previous ROM, but the problem persisted. Always the phone boots to Sony Ericsson logo than boot again, and could not shut down.
After installing the Flashmode driver, she flashed successfully the ROM, but the problem still there.
She installed Pc Companion, went through the repair, and yet again the same problem. The phone boots to Sony Ericsson logo, and then boot again, and no way to shut it off, other than taking out the battery.
Any ideas? I went through google and xda, but unfortunately couldn't find a solution. Please I could use some help here.
Try a differnt ftf and use seus instead of pc companion

you can find ftfs in my thread here:

Remove sd card
Reflash with SEUS not pc companion
Use battery out, USB in flashmode method
(battery out, insert USB, tell SEUS to flash, it will tell you to press back while inserting USB.... But press and hold back while placing battery back in phone)
That will guarantee a clean flash
Now for sdcard
Backup DCIM folder, xRecovery folder Andean other things you really need, do not backup the cache folders as it won't let you
Format sd card, place xRecovery folder back
I normally leave my DCIM on pc and dont copy back as it causes gallery problems sometimes if you have hundreds of pics
Let me know how it goes

So here what I've been doing from yesterday.
Using different firmwares in the flashtool here is the list of the firmwares I tried.

Everything seems going the way it should, but unfortunately the phone don't boot, and I should remove the battery then put it back, and here we go again the bootloop. I tried to wait for it to boot for 15 minutes with no sucess.
I didn't try SEUS yet, but I don't have much choices left.
I'll be back for more feedback.

REMOVE SD CARD AND SIM CARD !!!!!!!!! i really think it could be cache problem / sim problems....
i know it sounds really silly but its happened in the past to me, i swapped my sd for my backup sdcard and the bootlop disapperared
its like the rom i use atm is a bit funny with 3 network, if i have 3 sim in it crashes as soon as i install rom
but if i install rom with o2 sim card the phone works flawless lol
Thanks wo88les, yes I did remove the sim card and the sd card, and now the SEUS is downloading the software for X10i. The internet connection sucks. And I'm pretty on my edge after last night
Hope it will work this time. I appreciate your help guys.
Okay guys, I'm loosing hope.
I did take out the SD Card, and the Sim Card
Flashed the phone using SEUS, and yet again the same problem.
Flashed it again with multiple other firmwares, with SD card and Sim Card out, and no success.
This is the current state of the phone.
I put the battery, the phone boot to Sony Ericsson logo, then reboot again to Sony Ericsson logo, an annoying bootloop. And cannot be shut down without taking out the battery.
I don't know what's the problem, that what is annoying me the most.
Please some support from the devs.
Forgive me if this has been brought up, but have you tried unlocking the bootloader cause maybe it just needs custom kernel.

It might be on custom kernel... as he said try unlocking it... I know you r not a noob, give it a shot... if custom kernel and ROM works then ditch stock n go with custom...
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda app-developers app
I didn't try to unlock it yet because I wanted to use just the basic custom configuration like installing MIUI rom.
And I don't know if it's a kernel problem, the fimewares contains the original kernel inside them.
And by the way I tried to intentionnaly unplug the phone while flashing to see if a triangle will show up when it boot. And yes I saw the triangle, I then reflashed the firmware, and I got the same old problem.
I'm trying now to use the flashtool on another computer, maybe it's a driver issue, but very unlikely.
If it won't succeed I will try to unlock the bootloader as z28tovette suggested

@udpa82
I can't access xRecovery.
I still have the same problem.
Okay here is what I did.
I tried to repeat the same procedures on a different PC, and as expected, it didn't make any difference.
So I went to unlock the bootloader with this method, and I faced 2 problems:
1. USB Debugging cannot be turned on, simply because I flash the original 2.1 firmware (X10i_2.1.B.0.1_CUST-DE GENERIC 1235-7836) and I cannot access it. (Bootloop till Sony Ericsson)
2. When the device is connected in step 4 (now wait until flashtool recognizes your x10), due to bootloop when the device is turned on, X10 keeps connecting and disconnecting. So I really can't start the batch qsd8250_semc.cmd, I tried to wait till the flashtool say it's connected, then I closed the flashtool, and started the qsd8250_semc.cmd, I got daemon started succesfully, and nothing more, so I run the flash again and I get error. I know I suppose to run it without the flash but the device keeps restarting!
This is a picture taken from the qsd8250_semc.cmd window.

I can't go any far with this behaviour of the device.
Whenever the battery is in, the device boots to SE logo, stay stuck for 1 second then reboots again to SE stay for 1 second , then reboots...
I don't know if I'm missing something in the bootloader unlocking, because I never tried it on the X10i before, but I'm sure everything is done the right way.
Is there some firmwares that come rooted and with USB debugging ticked on?

So you r still on 2.1 ? If you are then use SEUS and upgrade to gingerbread... after that you can root and unlock bootloader... when you start don't PC companion select support zone... click start-> select a phone software update and click on start -> it will say could not find phone... below that there is a repair phone option, choose it and repair.. it will download and install latest gingerbread stock rom...

Thanks for the reply, but let me explain the situation again.
I already tried to use SEUS and PC companion for repairing my phone, and as the flashtool, everything go very well till the end, but the phone still not responding.
I tried to use SEUS, after the flashing, I unpludged the phone and got the same problem. It's just not booting further than SE logo. And keep restarting.
So let me sum up the things I did:
1. Reparing using Pc companion - Result: Reparing finished successfully, the phone bootloops to SE logo.
2. Reparing using SEUS - Result: Reparing finished successfully, the phone bootloops to SE logo.
3. Flashing multiple firmwares using the flashtool 0.9.0.0 & 0.2.9.1 - Result: Flashing succesfully, the phone bootloops to SE logo
4. Unlocking the bootloader - Result: Failed simply because of the bootloops and the USB Debugging Unticked because I can't access it.
5. Repeated all the above on a different PC - Result: Same problems.
The firmwares I tried to flash using the flashtool.
X10i_2.1.A.435_GLOBAL-GGL GENERIC 1232-9897
X10i_2.1.B.0.1_CUST-DE GENERIC 1235-7836
X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_CUST-UK GENERIC 1235-7379
X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_CUST-IN_GENERIC_1237-0692
The persisting problem of bootlooping: What's happening exactly?
When I put the battery inside the phone, the phone boots to SE logo, stay 1 second, then reboots to SE logo, and stay for 1 second, then reboots ... etc. Endless bootloop

It lloks like baseband issue and nothing more than it... I haven't seen this kind of issue before.. I keep flashing new from every other week just to test them...
A question for you?.. since you are saying your bootloader is locked, it should be easy to flash stock ROM using seus.. you can't flash a new ROM using flashtool if you r bootloader is locked.. you c, only flash stock roms and if u r not rooted then I think that's also not possible..
When I upgraded from 2.1 to 2.3 I had to downgrade and upgrade my baseband... some weird thing... there must be a link some where for it... or you might find a video on youtube for it.. look up...

I don't think so, because when you use PC Companion, or SEUS, it flashes the firmware with baseband.
But anyway I tried to flash the gingerbread firmware using the flashtool, X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_CUST-UK GENERIC 1235-7379 and the baseband 2.1.71, but the problem still the same.
