Seidio Cases - Motorola Photon 4G

Over the years, I've grown to love the Seidio cases. My new Photon arrives on Monday and I'm not happy that Seidio has not made an Active Case/Holster combo for it yet.
Anyone using a good case & holster that you recommend? I'll probably start with the case & holster Sprint carries until I find something better. I have contacted Seidio and they said they will have cases soon but could not give a release date.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. Bestbuy sells the session cases under another name as well. Anyways seidio makes the best cases in my opinion. I emailed them as well last week and was told that they'd have them soon.

When you said "session" cases, did you mean Seidio or is that another company?
I really hope Seidio releases the Active Case and Desktop Charging Cradle soon! My 3VO looks phenomenal with its Active case.
How about both of us keep our fingers crossed!

I too, asked Seidio about it a few weeks ago. Maybe I'll drop 'em another Twitter hint to show that there's demand... ;-)

Sorry, I meant seidio but auto correction has something else in mind lol. But yeah best buy sells them under some performance wireless brand or something along those lines?

I also use Seidio. I'm using a TPU until they get some cases made.

The TPU cases look awesome but I need a belt clip and they don't come with one. Therefore, I bought the Sprint case w/ holster to tide me over until Seidio releases the Active case for the Photon.

Yeah, I think Best Buy sells Seidio's stuff under the brand "Platinum".

Seidio still hasn't put anything out for the Photon yet. I've been pestering them on Twitter.

Which screen protector do you think provides a better fit around the ear speaker and front camera lens? Is it okay for the clear screen protector material to cover the front camera lens like some protectors do?

True, but I'm glad they're making progress!

you can fit the photon in a evo clip holster. i use it daily i bought the motorola clip w/case one from sprint. their holster blows though the case works

If anyone is interested, Siedio says they are making the Convert case for the Photon but no idea on ETA.

I bought the official sprint case/holster, and found out it fits perfectly into the seidio Thunderbolt holster at Bestbuy using the sprint case. It feels very secure, no slop at all like when I tried the photon in the evo and other holsters. You are essentially buying 2 different holsters and piecing them together but it's a perfect fit. I'm still looking forward to the official seidio holster so i don't need a condom on my phone at all.

Seidio's are wack man, I had and active case for evo 4g and corners would break off every few weeks and seidio had the worst warranty ever, what a waste. Stick with otterbox commuter case its looks sweet, protects the best and not fat.

Whomever makes a Active/Commuter style case that actually fits in the MoPho Car Dock will definitely win this. It's probably a good thing Seidio waited a little bit, if they can accomplish this little feat......they're golden!!

I definitely has problems with the Seidio case for the Palm Pre. The tabs broke off repeatedly but the Pre's shape made it difficult for anyone to build a good case with a small footprint. Conversely, the Seidio's Active case for my 3VO is the AWESOME!!! If they make an Active case just as good as my 3VO's, I'll be a very happy camper!

The otterbox Defender HAS a built in Kickstand!

So... I just accidentally discovered this AWESOME feature. On the otterbox belt clip, if you pull the actual clip out as far as it will go(opening it as if you have a REALLY thick belt), a little clip on top will latch the clip open acting as a kickstand. Works PERFECTLY for me!

I got my Otterbox Defender for free. The Sprint Store Manager was trying to sell accessories. The store was having a like accessories sale or something and then when my family and I were getting our phones he came over and offered 3 BT Headsets, and 3 cases for 43 dollars.
My parents aren't the sharpest when it comes to phones so I started haggling with the guy. Swapped out the three BTs for an otterbox and a screen protector and the manager gave it to us for free.

Ya I miss a hard case and holster the leather cases are nice but don't off much protection against the daily use I like keepin my baby clean and shiny
The holsters I speak of were all plastic or plastic/rubber with belt clips. Not the cheap leather cases I hate. They had the defender, and I think the other brand was platinum or something that looked very strong and similiar to the Otterbox cases. They also had the case with the kickstand thats been posted everywhere. I think they had 1 or 2 others as well. I was actually pretty amazed at all the cases they had.
Thanks! Would've never noticed that!

As the evo 3d is an old phone, I bought the otterbox defender for under £3 delivered but it adds too much bulk and weight, so i ordered the otterbox commuter under £3 again and it is much lighter the phone weighs 200g now, not certain what it weighed with the defender, I also got a 10 pack of screen protectors for £1.25 as i am crap at putting them on, or i just hate it when i get dust underneath, but i manged 1st time and it looks great, nice an slick to the touch.
John.

Otterbox alternative?

I've had my first otterbox defender ever with this evo 3d and though I love the protection, I'm beyond annoyed with the rubber outer layer stretching so it doesn't fit right. I'm already on my second outer layer (they replaced it for me 2 or 3 weeks ago and its already out of shape).
Anything else someone recommends? I don't like the ballistic case btw, looks too bulky compared to otterbox.

no i plan on trying one out tho. i had one for the evo 4g, and never had problems with stretching.
I'd like to try the Kraken. If you get it, would you mind providing a little review? I emailed Otterbox about the replacement even stretching and see what they say before I make any additional purchases. Amazon has the Kraken for about $10 cheaper btw - just looked. but they only have a handful left... I hate when they do that, makes you feel like its now or never.

Thanks. I have been doing some research on the Kraken II too and getting more and more discouraged. I'll look at the Cyclops II and maybe Ballistic.
Otterbox offered to send me 2 replacements this time. I also asked why it is doing this and how I can prevent/minimize it but they ignored that part. I suppose I'll take the replacements, but I don't think I'm going to stick with Otterbox because of this issue. Just still don't know what else to get.

How about warping or stretching? Solid there?
Seidio's is nice. No stretching. I have extended battery so its bulky.

Thanks. which seidio? I'm eyeing the Active with kickstand. I think I did read they they were pretty easily warped by the camera button, but I might have that mistaken with case mate.
EDIT: Thanks for the help, I just went ahead and ordered a seidio.
heres a case that i recently purchased and absolutely love. not as protective at otterboxes or ballistic cases but it survived many nightmarish drops and came out just fine, not a nick or scratch on the case even.the kickstand design is very solid and its made of the same reinforced plastic polymer as otters and ballistic, and it incorporates a hard tpu skin. overall a futuristic design for a futuristic looking phone lol. also a great price

Still using the otterbox defender, never had a problem with the silicone stretching. Only thing i can see doing that is constantly taking the rubber off and on.
I don't remove the rubber layer at all. But I just showed my brother yesterday the problem and asked if he had that issue. He also has the e3d and otterbox defender. He doesn't at all. But we compared his outer layer to mine and his is thicker. I don't know why ours are different.

The "silicone" mixture can be different, that's why they ask for the vendor code when you get them to send you a new one, I would think its very easy to revise the ingrediants to make it fit better or worse, I think putting in my pocket and taking it out stretched out the sides and made it fit a lil lose compared to a new one, my replacement defender fit totally better than my first one, however the same problem did occur over time, again... So I'm with you in the hunt to find that perfect case,
Shot from my shooter in 3D

Well, I'm liking this Seidio Active kickstand case I ordered so far. Doesn't feel quite as durable as otterbox, but enough protection for me. The silicone feel thinner and softer than my otterbox's too so we'll see. At least it's mostly the inner layer that's silicone with the outer hard plastic so maybe it will be ok.

I been rockin the hc black/black case since wedneseday. So far nothin but positive feelings. I posted a thread with pics of it next to the defender

Bumping this thread back up. I had the same problem with my Otterbox Commuter, where the silicon was stretching out too. They even sent me a replacement and the same thing still happened. I got the pink/white 'strength' version if it made a difference. I never took the silicon off that often and the phone is carried in my purse mostly. So I didn't understand how the silicon can stretch out like that.
Thinking of emailing them to let them know of the issue, but I don't really want any more phone cases from them. I ended up getting a Casemate slim case which I love. I also got the Casemate equiv of the Commuter and the silicon they use is much stiffer and fits a lot snugger.
OP you mentioned they offered you 2 replacements. Is it replacements for the same phone case? Or cases for other devices?

Otterbox on note

I got a reply back today from otterbox. I asked if they planned on making a case for the note. They said they're working on the otterbox commuter case for the note as we speak and should be available soon. Thought I would post just in case anyone was interested.
G~Note "nuff said"
I had an Otterbox case for my Streak, and loved it, but I have to say that I am shocked at the quality of this generic case I got on ebay for like $8! Head over to the accessories forum and you'll see some pretty happy campers who spent less than $10 for a case...
Sent from my SGH-I717R using Tapatalk
I have used Otterbox cases in the past but the last time i checked they were listing the case for the G Note at 56$ Um they can kiss my business g buy. I got a very good Reiko case from a seller on ebay for 8.88$ delivered The Reiko case is everybit as good as a defender from over priced otter! I tend to be from the school "ya get what ya pay for" but the Reiko case even has a kickstand, flap covers that cover charging an earphone ports.
I had bought one of those off brand cases for my ns4g on amazon. It came with a stylus and like 3 screen protectors for 10$! They're are some good deals out there so I agree. I seen that reiko with the kickstand think I seen a red/black one. I might have to get it. I bought the flipbook (hated it before I took a chance) I was surprised tho. Note looks sexy just doesn't offer much protection in case of a drop
G~Note "nuff said"
Otter says on their site that they sell their own products higher on their site then what their resellers sell for b/c they would rather you buy through them but won't refuse money. So the price quoted is always higher then what is available once they start shipping. I bought a commuter for my Vibrant and loved it. I did break it eventually and that happened by removing it so many times. I just wish I could get the Defender for this thing. I may have to look at some of the knock offs out there for such a dramatically lower priced case. I still just want a nice (brown) leather belt clip holster since leaving the tie off is considered a casual day at work for me.
Otter box return policy
Even tho theirs prices are little higher than the norm, the have excellent warranty policy and will pretty much ship you a complete new case if need be, providing you date and name the pictures. I've received a couple through this process (All defenders cases), ex complete case (SGN), replaced several holsters (Iphone, Backberry, Nexus S)

I've had an Otterbox on every device I've had so far (iPad & iPhone). They really make some great cases (a bit costly but worth every cent). I can't wait until I can get one for the Note.
I love otterbox too, however, I needed something right away. I'm a bit to clumsy to gamble on a $750 device. I ordered an "active" case from Seidio, they are similar to otterbox except no screen protector (I use zagg anyway). One thing I like about Sedio products over otter is the options. It's a three layer case with the first layer having the capability to be a simple standard case. Check them out if you don't feel like waiting.

I've used their case with holster for my charge, the belt clip has held up very well. I was mistaken on my first post. I thought this was the equivalent of the defender series. After looking at it again, I see that it is more like the commuter series from otter box but with a holster. Still a great case/holster combo in my opinion. I can't post a link yet, but check out the online store at seidio.com.

I have received confirmation from my otterbox rep that cases are in the works
I've received my case from Seidio, and I like that it doesn't make it that much thicker. On a phone this size, any bulkiness may be a bit to much. I'm also glad to hear that otter is working on one as well. I have a gift card for them and would like to compare cases.
Either way, the active case from Seidio is what I expected. I also cut my own custom screen protector from a HD Zagg designed for the kindle fire. I think the stylus works better with the HD version then their standard protector.

Someone here did a review and it seem solid, just not for me. Can't remember the reason. Likely because I already had OtterBox Defender?
I have a Seidio Active and love it. Easy to remove and put back on, has access to kickstand, and not as bulky as some other cases but offers good protection.
All boils down to personal preference.
I have the Seidio convert case with a flygrip on it. It does add some bulk and you can't use the kickstand with it unless you take off the two outer layers. The protection is great though, covers over everything including the camera. The holster works nicely and has been secure so far. If you don't mind the bulk and like protection from drops and dust its the best case IMO. Get the flygrip if you want a kickstand and more, you won't regret it.

I have been using the Incipio Silicrylic case for a while now. It seems to offer enough protection without adding too much bulk. The only thing I have against it is that the silicone skin is just thick enough to prevent the phone from seating completely on the connectors on the car dock. Fortunately, the shell and skin are easy and quick to remove.
i use the otterbox defender and mounted the belt clip to my forklift at work and mounted a speaker and now i jam all day at work plus i can take calls lol

Otterbox Commuter case

Been looking for a sturdy case for my LGOG and I found the commuter case on the Otterbox website but no idea when it will be available. What is the opinion about the case? Anyone have a better solution?
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
I have been waiting for this case to be released before I buy this phone. I'm afraid of dropping it and shattering the glass.
First thing I should mention is that I'm not sure this case will fit the AT&T variant. There are different variants of this phone with slightly different dimensions so it's worth checking. Also, this case will cover the LED notification ring around the power connector. I have raised this issue with the manufacturer but I doubt they will do anything about it. I suggested using a clear silicone around the power button but I will probably just poke a few holes around the power button of the silicone case if I really feel like I need to see the notification LED. If you inquire about whether or not it will work with the AT&T variant I would be interested to hear their response.
Best of luck!
Honestly, I'll be happy if it fits the AT&T version. That seems to be the odd man out when it comes to cases.
That seems to be the main issue, the fit. I've had an HTC Aria for three years before I upgraded to this mini tablet monstrosity, I have an irrational fear of dropping it and it's a bit awkward trying to use it one handed. I almost considered buying the ridiculously expensive AT&T plastic frame. My primary concern is this massive screen will be its Achilles. Anyone have a a close call with it yet? I mean I have dropped it from about three feet on to carpet but I'd like to hear about real life drop tests. Also I know the screen is hard to scratch but what about the back? Would a frame type case serve to protect the screen and back better? Pros and cons to a screen protector or privacy shield? It seems like an exotic phone or something with the locked bootloader I guess it's not the most popular amongst the devs. Any and all input and thoughts are openly appreciated.

I hope the commuter comes out soon. I'm tired of worrying about dropping this beauty. This phone is a little slippery. I haven't peeled off the back film yet either, maybe I never will. I'll be pretty disappointed if the one coming out is the sprint version only. Hopefully they're making both versions right now. I really wish all variants were the same like the gs3. Then we could get all accessories without issues. Unfortunately, at&t is the odd man out.

Add another on the wait list. I love the feel of this phone but it is a bit slick.
So far the Belkin saved my phone from a 3 foot drop on pavement with just a few nicks in the case.

I gave up and bought then Body Glove case since there's nothing else out there I've seen yet for it that's good. I ordered a cheap TPU case off of EBay, but that didn't quite fit so I wasted $4. And, since both Seidio and Trident case have responded to my email inquiries that they haven't any plans to make cases for the ATT OG, I'm more than a little bummed that I may not find anything better if the Otterbox doesn't fit my new toy.

Yeah it sux. If only lg made the same variant for all the carriers. But no, at&t has to be different. I'd like to think it's different because of the micro sd slot. But it's hard for me to believe they couldn't pull it off with the same dimensions. I actually like the sprint model better since its a little skinnier and easier to hold. But regardless, I love this phone. Lets just hope otterbox comes through.

I talked to customer service today about which version they're coming out with. The girl didn't even know that the dimensions were different between att and sprint. She couldn't tell me if they're making both versions. She just said sign up for the email notification. Oh well, I got my fingers crossed.

The body glove case that came out for it is pretty nice. I've only found it in at&t stores though.

Yeah I saw the bodyglove case at the att store but I don't like the colors. I like the gray outer case but the inner silicone case colors are ugly to me. Orange, purple, blue, pink, but no black. Wtf. Gray with black silicone is perfect IMO. But that's just my taste.

I have tried emailing Otterbox customer service and got no response back. I called customer service and they told me that they could not tell me what phones this case would support until it was released. Sadly, I think it's time for me to select a new case Anyone have any suggestions of similar cases? I see the Ventev and Amzer cases but they are kind of ugly.

Yes, I have been checking that. Specifically, I'm looking for a dual layer case with a soft silicone inner shell and a hard silicone outer shell. Otterbox and Casemate are the only companies I know of that do this. Casemate doesn't have an LGOG case and Otterbox is uncertain whether or not they will fit the AT&T variant.

Check out the Amzer and geocase. Although I personally don't like them. They are tpu with a hard outer shell.

Thanks, but I think that the Amzer and Ventev Geocases are ugly. Guess I'll have to wait for Otterbox or lower my standards

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks they are ugly. I have had the same TPU smoke case on 2 phones (same case, different versions). I was so glad to see it for the LGOG. It should come 2mro. If it fits ill update my thread. Based on the other 2 cases, I would highly recommend it. My fingers are crossed big time.
