Hi all,
i Rooted my SGS2 as mentioned in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 . It was so easy, and very thankful to intratech and chainfire. I was doing step by step process as mentioned in the post. I completed the flash of insecure kernel from chainfire(CF-Root-SGS2_UH_MUL_KG7-v4.1-CWM4.tar). Then i started SuperOneClick, it gave a message "Already have a root do you want to proceed ?" i clicked NO and flashed back stock kernel and confirmed i got root. But my question is, i just flashing with insecure kernel got root then why we use SuperOneClick ?? Please advise..
merin
You flashed cf root which give you root automatically, there is a different kernel which is the insecure one.

Nope, if you have flashed cf root, got root, and put your stock kernel back you are all good.

No, but readme
Read the link that veyka mentioned, quite comprehensive.
CF-Root is what I've used, its not difficult but ofcourse make sure u backup and follow the steps correctly.
There is another method using a program called One Click Root, google it. i tried it worked and rooted and automatically installed superuser, but it was weird when i rebooted my phone it was not rooted!, so i used CF-Root method.
I'm only guessing here sorry.
Update.zip from the stock recovery. Never made one to try if it can be done.
Are you not able to use Odin via your computer for the 1st root flash?
If you can then you can use mobile Odin for flashing without the computer after that. Eg. Download Odin compatible firmware/kernel/modem etc directly to your phone then flash using mobile Odin. No pc involved.
Good luck.

At the moment I can't use a PC, maybe in a week or 2 (if I'm lucky 1). That's why I searched for an app. Nothing worked right now.
I appreciate all of your help!

Can I use an update.zip on a stock ROM?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Its been a while since ive seen the stock recovery but I believe you can only use an update.zip with stock.
It's got to be created the right way though. Can't just rename a zip to update.zip.

i've used it before without issues, but i've tried 4.1.1, and 4.1.2 odin flash, plus CF root on my i317 and cannot get TA to attempt to wipe counters. I open the app, tap "reset flash counters", download the add-on, agree to warnings, and nothing. no reboot, or anything.
Any ideas what would cause this?
See if yoir phone is supported with triangle away

Where you downloaded it from?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
i got my firmware files from sammy, downloaded TA from play store, and i've had my CF root for a while (maybe old version?). i have noticed that adb works, but adb reboot bootloader just reboots, and no fastboot commands work while in download/bootloader mode. that's never been an issue before, and i'm on a mac.
I can get all flags set back to official/normal, just can't get TA to reboot and attempt to wipe the counters.
does not work on my s2 i777 is there another way?
