Does anyone know if the Samsung Galaxy S II will use a 3.5mm to RCA TV out cable like you could on the original Galaxy S?

Hi, tried one of those cable at work (used for the SGS), but didnt worked.
Guess the 3.5mm jack is for audio only. Not sure, just my guess...
A quick google dearch gave me some link, from xda developers site :

Hope it help
ok probably doesn't then, thanks
The SGS2 is one of the first devices to implement the MHL standard. Basically, it repurposes the microUSB connector to provide digital HD video/audio output. This output is translated to HDMI through an external adapter, allowing you to view the SGS2's output on currently available TVs.
With the recently available MHL-to-HDMI adapter, you plug a charger into the adapter (the adapter pulls a little power from the charger, sending the rest to the SGS2), the adapter into the SGS2, and run a HDMI cable from the adapter to an external display (HDTV, monitor, etc.).

Does the galaxy s2 does SD video out like the previous galaxy s or other phones like n95 and so on using that 3.5mm jack wire which splits into 3 wires. I guess that it is called composite out.
Does that work?
Anybody tried?
Thanks in advance.
I read that it does NOT output video from the 3.5" headphone socket, like the S1 does , but it does output video from the micro usb, but you will need an hdmi adaptor.

Tinderbox (UK). I think you kind of double-posted there mate.
But yes, he's right, the normal TV out cable will not work at all, but you can buy what's called an MHL cable, so you can hook your phone up to your telly (well, as long as you have an HDMI compatible TV or screen).
Did anyone receive the HDMI adapter in the box for the AT&T Galaxy S II ? I read that it should be included but did not receive it.
Nope. Not in the AT&T box
10 char xxxx
Nope. It doesn't come with AT&T version. AT&T version, all you get is the phone, battery, ac charger, usb cable, $25 media hub (tv shows only), manuals.
The infuse comes with one. The galaxy doesn't included one.

So a MiniUSB (or microUSB, whatever is ours) --> HDMI cable works from the phone?
only if your tv has MHL built into it

curoius, do most newer tv's have MHL built in? or probably not?
all i can find when i type my tv's model number and MHL into google is.. my tv with some hockey info (NHL) hehe..
google is too smart for its own good sometimes.
Based upon what I've seen, you need a MHL adapter for the phone. Its just a little box that plugs into USB, and had a USB port on it for power input and an HDMI port. There's cheap out there, like this one.
I have an MHL adapter and it does work but you need to plug the power into the thing in order for it to do anything. My receiver has usb and hdmi on the front so that works for me. It would be nice to have 1 cable, but this works.
Unfortunately I believe that's the case with any MHL device. There's a chip inside that box that transcribes the MHL signal (coming over the 5 pin USB connector) to a full HDMI signal, and it requires power. It's not all that bad though, as you would probably want to be charging your phone while playing a video anyways.
Exactly it is nice it does have power. Unlike the ipad to vga dongle lol.
Eventually most of the high end TVs will have the MHL. You will still need the adapter but you will not need to power it. The TV will not only power your phone but charge it.
I pocketed the HDMI MHL adapter from my infuse when I returned it under the 30 day ATT trial... The screen was pixelated in my infuse in the top left hand corner so they were more concerned with my device being defective than me just not liking it and only asked me if the charger was in the box.
Honestly, who actually hooks their phone to their tv? I never have.

The treadmills at my gym have lcd 's on them, I hook up my phone to it every single day and watch videos while exercising.
I wonder if anyone can report on this:

USB->HDMI adapter for SGS2?
I'm inclined to give it try...
The above link is for connecting a USB device, such as a thumb drive or keyboard to a mini USB device. Useful for us? yes. Useful for hdmi output? No.
On the t-moibile site, under features for the phone, it lists:
MHL adaptor for HDMI capability
Does it come with such an adapter out of the box? I'm interested in using it to connect a usb card-reader to it so I can easily copy photos from my camera.

No, I it doesn't come with one in the box. In fact, I it was publicized that no other adapters aside from the official Samsung one would be compatible with the phone because Samsung changed the pin layout for the GSiii.
No, but I found one on Ebay that works great and a lot cheaper to boot!
Edit : Wait...I bought one for my SGSII...I assumed it would work with the SGSIII, but perhaps I'm wrong! I'll have to test it and report back!
I wish. I checked then out online and they are like $40. It seems like way to much to just hook it up to my tv, and then the samsung car mount/charger is another $50. it seems like samsung is going the way of apple. at least apple gives you a dock when you buy a phone.
Don't worry. Third party accessories will catch up soon enough. That is lousy of them to charge so much for such a piddly little adapter.

just buy a USB OTG (on the go, or host usb) adapter if your just looking to transfer files from a card reader, the MHL adapter is primarily for video output, not input
I just got 2 USB host adapters from the link below for less than $3 shipped....also below is a video from android.NZ that shows all the crap we can plug into this beast of a phone
As for MHL Adapter compatibility, it will ONLY work with 11-pin MHL adapters, Most are 5-pin

Hey
I got an mhl compatible receiver (onkyo)
and an mhl compatible phone (i777)
I have an mhl adapter that basically have two inputs - charger and HDMI
isn't the whole point of an mhl compatible appliance is that ther'es no need to connect a charger to the adapter?
does that mean my phone is supposed to be charged over the HDMI cable?
if it's so - it doesn't work.
can anyone plz help?

I believe the MHL adapter needs it's own power to function, that is why you have to have the charger plugged into it. A simple search on google could answer your question.
Got a new MHL to HDMI adapter, I have a galaxy S4 phone and a galaxy note 10.1 2014 tablet. Works with both of them. I was able to get an HDMI output to project the tablet image on my TV. The next step will be to watch a movie on my TV screen that is sourced from my tablet and phone.
Then i tested it with my brother's tab pro 10.1, and it also works awesome. Chose to get this over the Samsung OEM one. So far I am very pleased.
Good to know but exactly how many of your posts are plugs for your website?
so will this mirror the screen or does it only work with viewing movies and pictures?
Does anybody know of any other affordable adapters that will work on a Tab Pro 8.4?

Cable Matters MHL 2.0 to HDMI Adapter with integrated USB Charging Port and 6' Charging Cable for Samsung Galaxy S3/S4/Note 2/Note 3/Note 8.0 - Black. Available on amazon. Sorry, Xda won't let me post the link.
This works with the 8.4 pro w or w/o external power. I had to trim plastic shroud around micro USB plug so it would insert deep enough to make contacts. Mine may have just been a defective example. It was an easy fix.
This one requires a standard m/m HDMI cable (not supplied). The one in post 1 requires a MHL to micro USB cable. (Supplied ? see correction.) The cable needs to be long enough so you can sit with your tablet and reach the TV.
Correction: The one in #1 does come with two cables. A USBmale to microUSBmale (for power) and a Micro USB Male to Male MHL Cable. (The later wasn't included in the pictures unless that what's in the black sleave box). How long is the Micro USB Male to Male MHL Cable? The length isn't listed on WOWparts.
Another correction 4Apr14: The Cable Matters MHL 2.0 to HDMI works fine without external power. Since you can set brightness of the tablet to minimum, you can easily get 4 hours on a charged 8.4 pro, maybe more. If you connect 5v power to the MHL 2.0, the tablet reports it is charging, but in fact, it is not. This is pretty strange. On my Galaxy 7.7 connected to a Samsung HDMI adapter, external 5v is required for the HDMI to work and it also charges the tablet.

after I read this ordered 2 1 for me (Tab Pro 8.4) and 1 for my friend ( Note 3 ) works great can watch a movie on the monitor ( using my PC monitor for this) while still being able to use other apps ( as long as you use the sammy vid player doesn't work that way with 3rd party vid players)
And to clear out some: If you don't know, better not say it,
The kit comes with all you need the "converter" is the small extra mini-usb piece labeled SIII => which by the way I noticed is extra long before I even used it, I figured bad quality control maybe? but no, it happened to my friend that length is actually needed to make contact with the MHL pins i'm guessing at this point since I read that Firedog91902 had to trim his for it to reach further in.
But yes it works great and comes with all you need!, The HDMI plug, USB Cable and the USB 5 pin to 11 pin converter all you need to supply( which you already have) is the charger or another USB cable for it to draw the needed juice.
They way I set it up in 3 steps
HDMI adapter/unit plugged to my monitor ( has 2 HDMI sockets )
Took and extra mini Usb charging cable from and old HTC for power and plugged into a USB 2.0 powered hub.
And last but not least Used provided USB cable with the little dongle converter to plug to the unit/HDMI adapter and my Tab 8.4 and tadaa works great!!

Both and not only that, if you use the stock Video player you can watch the movie on the TV while still browse and use the TabPRO for other stuff, just press home and the movie keeps playing and now you can chat or what ever else with the tab while watching the movie.
