Me and a few friends have an awesome Rom idea but none of us are skilled developers. We are looking for a developer or developers to construct the rom. We well be willing to donate and I have a connection who would be interested and willing to donate should we say efficiently. I will create icons, boot animations, wallpapers, graphics etc. As this is more my forte. If it really takes off we might do a wiki or site. We want this Rom to be predominantly Optimus V based. So if your interested PM and we cab discuss details and the actual idea.

Are you planning 2.2 or 2.3 rom? If you give me your framework I can throw it in a cm7 rom. You can do it your self very easily too. I don't mind helping, I just don't get much time in front of my computer these days

I agree that if you're after a custom theme with a different launcher for the VM670 there's little to no reason to start all over from scratch. In fact with a bit of practice I bet you guys could do it yourselves.
Basing it off of something established like CM7 and IHO means that you get easy access to bug fixes and other updates.
I think the best route would be to ask for instructions on how to reskin and replace what you want. As most of the stuff in CM7 is BSD or Apache licensed you don't have to redistribute your source (altho, doing so is, IMO, a good idea).
Blarf is the man, he is the one that does most of the work so we don't have to

Just flash IHO, and then flash your themes. Or install your launcher afterwards. Seriously, there's no need for an entirely new ROM.

This is your opinion and Ill respect it.
But IMO you are wrong. What if they figure out a way to improve on IHO?
Or maybe there are people that would rather have a different launcher then adw. I support anderweb but I prefer a different launcher then adw. A fully themed rom including lock screen and all the other stuff the theme changer would also be nice to have.
The more options we have the better off we are. Having just one flavor of IHO only leads to boredom.
I agree with you on this one eollie. We will be using a pure IHO and expanding. It may be a little as we are learning the ropes and want the end product to be exactly what were looking for.

I love this idea. Just wish i knew how to dev. If this ROM gets off the ground, i'd definitely flash it and donate. I was using AOSP's ROM, which appears it may be abandoned now, so i tried IHO, which for some reason keeps rebooting my phone, so i'm looking for a good ROM to run on my Optimus V.

Try mrg666 IHO cm7,with IHO recovery. His latest biuld is 08132011,i have had excellent bat life. No reboots so far its pretty stable and no FCs.This my daily rom for a while.
Once I place apps in the app folder of the rom. Such as a new launcher do I need to do something else besides delete the first one to make it the default launcher

They're always improving on IHO, and there are new builds out multiple times a week. BobZ's IHO build uses Launcherpro instead of ADW, and MrG has posted a file to flash with the IHO ROM to give you the stock launcher instead of ADW. Check them out here - https://github.com/inferiorhumanorgans/android_device_lge_thunderc/wiki/Binary . You can always just put your theme on top of that, no?

Last ROM before i moved... And you guys better stop whining about "finish the f***ing project before moving to another...."
Ok guys, this is a project i created, and yes, its another themed rom but with minimalistic features. What is planned?
Ok i have been talking to ZduneX25 on fb about the stuff what is gonna be cool... So this is what im thinking...
V0.4 alpha (Expectations to finish before 10 Feb)
-CyanogenMod 7.2.0-nightly-0
-CyanogenMod Kernel (Blackscreen fixed! Yay!)
-An unknown themed framework that gives a minimalistic look...
-Camera.apk has changed...
-Minimalstic Gapps (Based by temasek)
-BlackICS Keyboard
-MIUI V4 Icons (And its not easy to change icons in every system apk)
ETA: 18 more days.
Do give me a feedback asap... You can also feedback me through facebook (Fan Page) and Twitter and also G+....

right, phoenix-android have to be hardcoded because every theme used with
theme apps are slowing down the system:
i try to explain why:
Android have a standard builtin "theme" or "style", a different for Froyo, another for Gingerbread and another for ICS.
Every UI element looks for a "theme"-option other than the builtin, if another theme is found, the element have to
load the new theme resources on the fly when creating the element. this triggers a re-draw on the element and slows
the system because it must be done for every element in the activity, so loading gets slow and even when using the
app: all loaded resources arent cached because the themechooser app stays "on the top" on each application and isnt builtin.
@Dax
Why don't you complete your projects before you start new ones?
What happened to GBS,Sonygenmod?
Also, ICCS needs a stable patcher because their are so many features and apps which have colour overlap and also ADW FC's all over.
I appreciate you trying to start new projects which IMO have loads of potential and currently seems like an awesome idea.
However, i think you should consider finishing the older projects before starting new ones.
Don't take this as a personal hate message or something, but this is just some constructive criticism.

OK...I'm not a dev but I'm telling you that we never could port a wp7 run on android system. they're completely different. asking how to run wp7 on android system is similar with asking how to ride a boat on road. the best solution atm is only make a rom with a theme and UI looks like a wp7.
PS: MIUI is not an iOS clone. the interface is might similar but it definetely an android system.

That's true. You can't port WP7 to android. If nothing else than because of kernel. We have a Linux-based kernel and WP uses a different (probably closed-sourcel) one.So as we already told you your best chance is UI changes.I am a dev btw.

Ok this new miui on the ics sense base is really smooth and rocks. Yet I miss the sense launcher. I know thete ate many who have removed it from their roms. I would like to know what files had to be removed so I can try and install them on miui. From all I have been able to find out is that miui has kept all the framework intact so I would presume that all I need is tjr correct apks. Then I would have the best of both worlds.
(Sense MIUI my ultimate rom)
Ok with a little help from the dsixda kitchen and a few workarounds I now have progressed to MIUIics-Sense 3.6 merged rom.
shortly I will have a download link for people to play with. Feel free to report any issues you have here, but since it is just a project for my own enjoyment (at least for now) there will be no support what so ever from me.
The basics:
ics base
MIUIics from digitalhigh 7-27 test
stock miui ics kernal (for now)
What works:
all sense widgets
wifi
3g
gallery (had to reboot to work)
call
What does not work yet:
4g (which I dont have so I dont care) or it might
superuser FC's

FYI as much as I love using dsixda's kitchen, you wouldn't need it to do what you describe. Simply moving the files from zip to zip would work just fine.
Have you tried a Sense Rom then downloading MIHome from the market? Ya it won't have everything MIUI but its a hell of a lot easier if you want full Sense and slightly less MIUI aspects. Just wondering
ok so a little research questions. 1. what sense would most be interested in? I am thinking about going back to 3.0 when I get most of the issuses sorted out. 2. Who would like lee droid tweeks? 3. What key features would you like? 4. Dont ask about sprint bloatware it is gone forever in all my releases when this hits the developer section. 5. Any suggestions on fav. kernals? 6. We need a sweet rom name so lets see what yall have in mind.
Finally would like to thank all here at xda for their knowledge, help, and a place to grow.

well mihome is not what i am after here. I personally hate the miui launcher which is part of what lead to this project. I love sense which is why i got an htc phone in the first place. I want miui for the extras it has, and sense for the launcher and widgets. as i have said ealier i have a simi-functional rom so far and will be doing more testing and changing over the next few day. some of my issues have to do with the sources I have used to start this with. I have a sprint ics rom from an ota that has problems by itself than the new miui 8-3 that is the first sense base released for the 3d. So yeah i have all the problems from base plus issues from the merger of the two. As the issues from the bases get sorted out so will my issues.
any suggestions on a file host site?

Your allowed to use it. Just can't post the download link to the Rom its included in here. Then it breaks the rules of XDA.
For instance..
I have 2 versions of my DX Rom but there's only one posted on XDA because I respect both forums and try to follow the rules of both of them. He could do the same if he chooses.

edit:

If you're waiting on permission from me - feel free to post.
As was suggested earlier - you might have more luck ditching Kitchen and just using BeyondCompare to diff the two extracted ROMS. I cannot edit a ROM without it...it's that awesome.
I'd do like was pointed out - extract my MIUI and the Stock ICS, diff them, and then grab basically everything you want in /system/apps on the Stock side that says "HTC..." in it. Most of the widgets start with HTCfriendstream.apk and whatnot. As you've already established, the majority of the frameworks are identical, with only framework-res, framework.jar, services.jar, and android.policy.jar being edited.
So, it should stand to reason that if you're using the Rosie launcher, you can probably utilize all the stock HTC apps but keep the MIUI navbar, notification, dialer, etc.
Either way...definitely get BeyondCompare and diff the two ROMS. Otherwise you're just kludging around in the dark...
Edit:
And the permission f/c can be fixed by grabbing LBESEC.apk (something like that) from MIUIAndroids' GSM port.

You can use this to make an update zip. Just put the apks in their respective places. The theme would probably be in data and the launcher in system.
The only issue I see is if this is the TouchWiz 5 theme you speak of it can't be included because it's a paid app.
Like the setup, i have been looking for something like this a little while.
Can you post how you did it in the meantime

I found another update zip creator that is more generic and less device specific than D4.

Here's a guide that explains an easier way to mount system and data by using busybox instead of finding the mount points.

Edit: This thread will help you find mount points if you need too..

Edit2: ^^ I agree. Can you post what you used for everything? Where did you get the launcher, the widgets, the sounds, the stock apps, the theme, and maybe the wallpaper/s?
Anything new on this?

I wrote a couple of devs seeking help. I am a full time student and I work full time as well. I thought about releasing a HOW to guide. I have not given up.
Pimp my ROM seems to have the full tw launcher and some widgets. Cannot confirm if all are there. You can then get a tw theme from market and you should be set. I am on decks 10-10 build (4.1.2) and the theme is not working but launcher is

I am looking for someone experienced in ROM making to help with an iOS ROM I would like to make. Don't worry, I will do stuff too:
•The home screen layout
•Settings app
•Basically all default iOS apps
•Wallpapers
•Anything else you could think of
The reason I am asking is because I have no experience in ROM making, but I'm an intermediate (borderline expert) at creating Android apps.
If anyone decides to help me, I would like to ask if you could create the custom dialog boxes like iOS 8, because I can't seem to do it with a normal Android app.
Thanks.
Why don't you just use an iOS launcher?
1. I like making my own apps
2. Why not make a ROM? :3

Well you're asking someone else to do the work for the base at least. I do see you are experienced in app making, which is pretty cool, but honestly compiling a base isn't that difficult, and all you need is a standard ROM base which you will be editing the systemui.apk and essentially creating a custom launcher (app) to go over, what specifically do you need a ROM maker to do?
Create the base files for it to run, then I can make the apps to go in /system/app and whatever else needs changing

But why can't you just compile AOSP/CM/OMNI etc.. and use that? Like what in a "custom" ROM do you need?
But iOS isint part of the AOSP It would probably be better to do it from scratch.

You cannot literally incorporate iOS into Android. It is a closed source custom OS that is somewhat Unix based. You would actually have to custom re-write the entire OS from scratch if you wanted to do it the way you are describing. The only feasible way to get what you're asking is a very heavily customized launcher over a regular Android base, kind of like MIUI. You would be hard pressed to find a developer who even wanted to hand code an entirely new Android base just to get the same functionality of a custom launcher. I don't mean to discourage you but I don't think you fully appreciate the amount of work you're asking someone to do.
Anyways, was really just trying to clarify your question to see if I could help, I hope you understand what I am saying here. Good luck with your endeavor.
The ROM would basically be the same as all others. I don't really want to modify the build.prop or anything myself as I will probably brick my phone. The iOS launcher side of it, won't be too hard. There are iOS launchers on the play store so it is possible. Most stuff could just be normal android apps like normal android launcher.apk. The only thing I would need help on is chsnging the default dialog box shape & colour to match iOS's one.
