Hmm are you typing with auto-correction on?
If you mean WPA2-PSK (WPA2 with password), then I can confirm that this works.
I have a similar issue with my 'O2' router (rebranded Thompson 585 V7) and have WPA+WPA2 (WPA-PSK Encryption) setup.
All devices in my home (laptops & Ipod Touch's) have no problems, but my new Hero continually fails to get an IP address. Seems to connect OK but then continualy cycles therough 'Obtaining address'... 'failed'.... 'Obtaining address'!
It did successfully connect once for about 20 mins, but after a phone off/on, has gone back to failing.
I'll experiment further, but may have to return the device
Regards,
Glenn

I'm still waiting for my hero, so I might be wrong. But according to the manual, the hero can only handle WEP encryption on WiFi. WPA/WPA2 are not supported. I think, for the hero to work on WiFi, you must change the encryption on your router either to WEP or to unsecure.

I tried WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK with my Hero and they definitely work. Sorry, mate ;-)
If the OP wants some help he needs to post some useful data about his setup and what works and what does not work.
I can confirm it works for wpa2-psk and PEAPv0/EAP-MSCHAPv2
Wi-FI is not working with secure network
Hi
I had same problem with BT Home Hub2 all i did was a soft rest and it worked and had no more problems so try soft resetting you routor
Well, as posted earlier, despite several hours of every possible combination of settings and factory resets, I can't get my Hero to use my WiFi (WPA+WPA2, WPA-PSK Encryption).
I have seven other devices that have no problems at all (I configured them all), so I'm assuming it's an issue with the Hero. Therefore, it's going back to it's supplier.

Glenn

Yep it may well be a faulty one if its from a store try get them to test it if they can if not the get the new one home and try again you might also wont to try it on someone else wifi see if it works on theres. Also it might be that the amount of device conected to it may be causing a problem on first time setup, you could try it on its own then let other device connect to route worth a try
You should bear in mind that sometimes certain devices just don't get on. Someone posted here earlier with a similar issue, and they found changing their router from the Orange supplied box to another one "fixed" their issue.
Regards,
Dave
I found problems connecting my Hero to our Belkin N1 Vision ADSL Modem/Router using WPA2-Personal.
In the end it turned out that re-enabling the option to broadcast the SSID solved the problem. For some reason creating a connection manually to a network which does not brodcast caused the issue for me.

Ian

So there is a generic advice, run your wifi in a standard-compliant mode. Broadcast SSID and turn off all the vendor-specific "turbo mode" and "extra-long/short" packets crap.
Problem with wpa2 enterprise
I am not able to connect to wifi at work.
We use wpa2-enterprise with PEAPv0/EAP-MSCHAPv2 and broadcast SSID.
Hero detects wifi network with incorrect security. It displays: "(network SSID) secured with WEP". When I tap on it it asks for WEP hex key...
I tried to add wpa2-enterprise network manually. It says "not in the range" and keeps offering me the above one with wrong security...
any ideas?
wifi works fine on other phones

Go to wifi settings, press menu button, then select advanced. Now you can set the phone to use a static ip (you must enter the ip, subnet mask and gateway, of course )

Settings
I don't know if this will work. In the advance Wi-Fi settings, try to change the regulatory domain channels of your phone to correspond with your modem/router. If your network uses 11 channels, also choose 11 on your phone.

Have you looked at router's channel? Some routers transmit on channel 13, but P500 has problem to connect to network over channel 11

Could be a million things going wrong...password, diff key algorithm, MAC address filtering (if he has it enabled on the router).
You need to do more troubleshooting before asking the question...give the forum a starting point.
Check to see if your phone supports the type of the router.
For example, if your router is N and you phone only supports g/b, it won't work.
Check if the router supports as many devices are connected
is it normal that my ip address in wifi settings is unavailable ??

I guess it is since you haven't connected to a network that would have assigned you an IP address.

Ummm...NO. N is backwards compatible, both on 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

It would help to have more information about the way the router is set up, etc. Can other phones connect to it? Are you getting any error messages?
I bought a used WRT54GS a few weeks ago and couldn't get my phone connected over WiFi until I updated the firmware. You may want to look into that. It said it was connecting and then said disconnected. It never said it was connected though.
Once I got the new firmware installed then I was able to connect, encrypt the connection, etc.

~ we already updated the firmware but still got the problem .. we've done all troubleshooting we can do .. i even change my rom and kernel but nothing happens .. other device can connect to his router, mine was the only one that can't connect ...
btw i can connect to other wifi .. i guess the problem is in the router ?
Well, at least you know it's not your phone ...

Sorry to hear that.
If other devices can connect to it and yours can't, even with different ROMs and kernels, then it looks like this particular router just doesn't like your phone/setup for some reason. Especially since you can connect to other WiFi units.
Very frustrating.
If the router is set up to allow enough connections and isn't filtering out your phone's ==> WiFi <== MAC address then I don't know what else can be wrong.
Hope you can find a workaround, but I can't think of anything else at the moment.
Hello everyone,
Last week, suddenly i could not connect to my Home Wifi. And now that I am at the office a tryed again. No luck.
When I hit the SSID in my netwrok list it seems to connect but within a seconde it says: savec, secured. And I un-disable the screen so i can hit the network name again.
I just performed a reset, probleem is sill here. Is this a hardware issue? Is there some logging somewhere?
Kind regards,

If you are on stock rom, you can try entering service mode by dialling *#0011# and disabling Wireless Power Saving mode.
There was another fix involving etc/wifi folder on the device, but I cant find the thread atm.

It actualy disconnects only 1 second after trying to connect.

I'm trying to find the right thread which had this info.
You can also make sure that the router doesn't have too many connected devices, sometimes that is also a problem.
BUT if it connects and then drops (It says "Connected" then "Saved, Secured") then that could also mean hardware issue. Because there is no problem connecting but your phone can not maintain connectivity.

I think it's an hardware issue. It stops suddenly after 2 years of good service. Do you know if it's something that can be replaced? Or is is on the mainboard? And shoudl i buy a new one?

I realised something now, i entered my gmail account on laptop and it sent my phone a notification, when i opened it I saw that one of my last connected location is Ireland. I didnt download any vpn apps so why is this saying that?
You might want to check the router settings. Some routers have a default limit on how many devices can be connected at once. It sounds like either that or IP address conflicts.

It could be about ip address because there isn't so much device, so what should I do? And I think it could be about dns settings, I tried something for that but couldn't solve it
