Firstly, the official, latest firmware in India as of right now is KF3. The phones were sold with the KE8 (not KE7, which is a UK/Europe firmware) in India which were later updated to KF3 via Kies. The official firmware update in India is yet to come from Kies.
So did you update your phone with Kies while you were in India? Did you install Kies on your PC in Dubai or in India?
yes Egan its made in china... but why are you asking this...does it make a difference ????i mean manufacturing country
yes i have upgraded my phone in india only through my home pc... when i connected to kies .. it asked me to upgrade to firmware KG5 as my previous firmware was KG1.. i was little afraid to upgrade it as i heard that official version in india is KE8 ..but now its fine i am happy with KG5..no lagging till now .
What I wanted to know was, where did you install your KIES software? In India or Dubai? Because no one else here in India has got the KG5 update yet, if you have then it must be on its way for others too. Or maybe your phone got updated because it does NOT belong to India. It has a different firmware than the Indian firmware.
Just clarify one thing, earlier you said your previous firmware was KE7, now you are saying you upgraded from KG1.........so which one was it?

Wired..Just now checked with kies mine is still KF3 and it says Latest
my friend i never said that my previous firmware was KE7.. i only wanted to confirm that KE7 is latest or KG5.. yes i installed my kies software in india only.. i do agree with you that my phone doesn't belong to india region so this could be one of the reason that it has a different firmware from other countries

Cool. That explains it. You got an update coz your phone does not belong to India region. Enjoy
Yes, I also checked today and still for India it is showing KF3 as official latest version.
Further, after installing KIES, it is not showing Samsung Apps in KIES. Can anyone explain this.

I am new to Android, but would consider myself fairly PC Savvy / Capable
I am following the instructions from [ROM + Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KF1/2/3/4/, KG1/2/3/5/6/7 Download - xda-developers
I am attemting to flash from a stock image:
- PDA: I9100BOKF3
- Phone: I9100BOKF1
- CSC: I9100DTMKF1
I have downloaded Odin3 v1.85.
I have also downloaded XXKG5 Stock Kernal from the above link.
I rebooted my phone into Download mode - Odin recognises it (com turns yellow), and I click on start:

My phone reboots, but it is still running the original software.
What am I missing? (the KG5 kernal is only 5mb? do I need further files?)
thanks in advance...

You are only flashing the kernel there. This does not update the firmware. You need to download the Firmware OXA Poland: Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

Hi All
I rooted my handset but then decided there isnt much out there at the moment for me in terms of custom ROMS so i restored a stock rom. I am now seeing a message "This version of the device cannot be updated" in Kies. Has anyone any idea how to fix this? Im running the latest Kies
Thanks
Kies updates product /firmware codes that match whats on the server . Requires your phone provider to have uploaded newer firmware than you have .
If you put a Samsung rom on the phone = no matching product/firmware codes .
Your Kies upgrade path is now closed ..

How so? this is now the third time I've seen you post this. Surely this only applies if you have flashed a custom rom. not stock.I flashed mine to KE1 via odin, but updated to KE2 through Kies. So what am I missing? Are you talking about the 'missing DLL' error? I did have that on my desktop, but kies worked fine on my laptop.
What is the easiest way to get back on track with Kies? Would flashing an older official firmware work?

you need to follow the debrand guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
basically you need to set the CSC to XEU in order to update via KIES

Third time more like three hundred .
Kies updates branded firmware via product codes hardware id and firmware id .
Hundreds if not tens of thousand who have installed Samsung so called stock firmware through Odin have received the no upgrade message from Kies .
Thats why Spoof FW was invented otherwise no need for it .
Its also why Kies has never given me an upgrade path since flashing stock rom via Odin .
Now i know one or two on SGS have managed to upgrade after stock rom but most are reporting no upgrade ( well you anyway ) .
Personally if some one is going to do something that may affect their warranty or change the update path or whatever i would rather tell them than not .
Stock rom Ke2 and i will test yet again via Kies when KE3 is out .
SGS2 bought sold SGS 1 running stock firmware No repeat no upgrade path through Kies until flashed original O2 rom and thats like two weeks ago .

Only Updated via Kies
Hi,
Only had my phone a week and have not done anything custom with it, it has updated twice through Kies in 1 week per request from Kies itself, today I go into Kies and it also says :
"This Version of the Device cannot be Updated"
Current Firmware Version DA:KE2/PHONE:KDJ/CSC:KD1(XEU)
Why has Kies had no problem two times in the last week and is now saying this, has something gone wrong in the phone ?
Yesteray it just said the Latest Firmware was Installed ?

Was just yesterday it said ;
Latest Firmware Version DA:KE2/PHONE:KDJ/CSC:KD1(XEU)
Current Firmware Version DA:KE2/PHONE:KDJ/CSC:KD1(XEU)
and today the Latest Firmware Version is replaced with that error message, so assumed that there must be another update out but now the phone will not update it ?

It's giving that message because the firmware (KE2) has been removed. Your phone has a version of FW higher than Kies knows about hence it tells you it cannot be updated, wouldn't make sense otherwise. Once Samsung release a new FW I expect it to return to normal.

Just downgraded to I9100XWKE1_I9100XXKDJ_I9100XEUKD1 using ODIN and Kies now says this is the "current version". Looks like this is the way back to kies updates if anyone wants this.
All sorted again, today KIES is reporting ;
PDA:KE7: PHONE:KE4: CSC:KD1 (XEU)
a big jump from ;
PDA:KE2: PHONE:KDJ: CSC:KD1 (XEU)
This version of device canot be updated
Current firmware version : PDA:KD9 / PHONE:KD9 / CSC:KD9 (XEO)
:/ I bought phone before 2 days wtf is that ?
I have the same no update possible - its stock untouched.
My details are: PDA:KE1 / PHONE:KD5 / CSC:KD3 (DRE)
May be its because they pulled all updates until the new one is out (hope so)?
Hello guys
PauloJ5 can you send me your KE1/KD5/kd3 firmware?? pls
That's a problem™ of Kies. Change the Product Code to a valid one (see your box for that) from all X in Registry Editor. It worked for me.

Hey guys,
I am very new to android and this forum as well
I bought my sgs2 outright from Optus Telechoice, and recently i upgraded its firmware via Kies.
This is the firmware information shown in Kies whenever the phone is connected with usb:
PDA:KG1 / PHONE:KF3 / CSC:KG1 (OPS)
it says this is my current and the latest firmware.
*NEVER rooted my phone before, phone was shipped with KE7 if not mistaken.
Ok my question starts here, i've been reading forums for quite a while, and i notice that very few user have the same firmware as mine. i wonder why?
First of all, I heard that the official 2.3.4 firmware has been released via KIES, i really like to get the update but KIES said my current firmware is the latest.
I read this sentence from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
saying that:
These packages below are not official firmware packages, they are Frankenstein package created due to demand for Firmware with different CSC and modems. KIES will not recognise the firmware so you won't be able to update to new firmware using KIES unless you flash back to a firmware meant for your device first. Otherwise there will always be Odin to use for updates
and i found the exact same firmware version as shown in my KIES:
Optus OPSKG1 CSC: http://www.multiupload.com/EPWZTIMS1F
which proves that my current version is a kind of so called
+++++++[Frankenstein Firmwares]+++++++, which may restrict me from receiving the latest firmware.
As mentioned from the above, 'KIES will not recognise the firmware so you won't be able to update to new firmware using KIES unless you flash back to a firmware meant for your device first.'
In this case, which firmware is meant for my device?!
* I really wanted to get rid of the Optus bloatware by flashing the stock firmware PLUS get the latest official update 2.3.4 rolled out by KIES.
Can anyone please teach me how and what to do? appreciate that and thanks in advance to any who reply me.
*i am an adroid newbie pls bear with me!
Images shown in my sgs2 and KIES:
PDA:KG1 / PHONE:KF3 / CSC:KG1 (OPS)
it says this is my current and the latest firmware.
CORRECT
First of all, I heard that the official 2.3.4 firmware has been released via KIES, i
NO
i notice that very few user have the same firmware as mine. i wonder why?
Because they have flashed a later version via ODIN of stock Samsung firmware that may be a leaked version .
which proves that my current version is a kind of so called
+++++++[Frankenstein Firmwares]+++++++,
No not if you updated via Kies you are not understanding the post .
In this case, which firmware is meant for my device?!
The one you have on it is the latest for your device as installed by Kies .

One Samsung path and wait for 2.3.4 to be rolled out by your network via Kies .
Or two unofficial method of updating firmware using stock Samsung firmware flashed via Odin.

Hi,
First of all thank you for the replies.
are you sure the official 2.3.4 hasn't come out via KIES?
I read some posts regarding the official release though.
Once again from my understanding, my kind of firmware (PDA:KG1 / PHONE:KF3 / CSC:KG1 (OPS)) is actually released by Optus via KIES, it is actually more like the OPTUS (and australian phone carrier) version of this firmware, thats why there are few users compared to the majority.
So what u mean is even though others (non-optus user) might get the update BUT i have to wait for OPTUS itself to roll out the update via KIES, right?
Okay lets not talk about official 2.3.4.
AND one more thing, i would really like to remove the Optus bloatware by flashing STOCK firmware via Odin, but i have no idea which STOCK firmware i have to choose from. i'm aware that there are a lot of stock firmwares available from the link provided above, but which is the appropriate as well as the latest STOCK firmware for my unit.
Since my current firmware is PDA:KG1 / PHONE:KF3 / CSC:KG1 (OPS), obviously it is a Optus-based firmware, so which STOCK firmware do i have to choose from? what is the 'stock version' for my current firmware as listed from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
i am really stuck here. Hope you understand my situation.
Thanks once again mate

Garbage some have updated some phone providers have not updated and probably will skip 2.3.4 as 2.3.5 is rolling out .

You need to ask Vodafone or take phone to Vodafone service centre see if they have an update .Vodaphone update the firmware and push it to Kies server .

Mostly but not always it all depends upon the phone supplier .
Thats why most XDA members go down the unofficial route and many are running KI3/8 2.3.5 .

Thanks JJEgan for your help.
As I got a vodafone branded sgs2 (locked with vodafone) would flashing XWKI8 or XXKI3 from Intratech's rom page be ok?
I read somewhere you should only flash unlocked phones.
I currently have my phone rooted with unsecure BUKG2 stock kernel, other than that its untouched from purchase.
I have a stock rooted galaxy SII GT-I9100. I live in Italy and samsung has pushed the ICS update to all of Europe but every time I ask the phone for the update it says that none are available. Kies also tells me I have the most current version. Anyone know what's going on here? Here's the info on my phone.
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100CEKI12-CL586309 [email protected] #2
Build: GINGERBREAD.UHKI2
ICS update
Try here there's a Italy update
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
One the ICS update is not fully rolled out .
Two you can try CHECKFUS and see if the firmware for your phone is on the KIES server download it and flash via ODIN .
Or join XDA Developers forum and flash a stock Samsung ICS .
jje
dail *#1234#
check what is your CSC
for exampe, your CSC is : I9100OXXLP7 the bold text is your CSC,(OXX)
if your CSC is not one of these CSCs for which Samsung has rolled out ICS, you will have to wait for KIES update otherwise do as JJE advised, or flash eligible ROM with CSC already rolled out...
eligible CSC :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25419397&postcount=3
I'm confused about the right combination of Firmware and CSC to get official updates from Samsung through KIES or OTA. I read that your CSC and Firmware have to match to get KIES support but not for OTA support. It has been sent to Samsung Belgium for hardware failure and came back with a different firmware, same phone. I took screenshots of the info I think is relevant, the screenshot from KIES is when I choose initialise and give my serial number.
Can anyone tell me what the right codes/combination is for me:
Unlocked, unrooted GT-I9300, living in Belgium, bought from a store which origin is in Netherlands. So I might have a phone from the Netherlands.
I ask this because KIES tells me my phone is not supported for firmware update. And with 4.1 in the running I want in but the official way, so if i stop following these updates, KIES or OTA will warn me in the future.

KIES tells me my phone is not supported for firmware update : for sure because you have a Netherlands device. The latest firmware for this phone is : Netherlands / 2012 August / 4.0.4 / I9300XXBLH1 / I9300PHNBLH1. (As KIES says) It's Ice Cream Sandwich firmware.
But when we saw your screenshot, I think you have a United-Kingdom (BTU) firmware (OpenEurope) , probably the latest ICS UK ROM.
So it's normal that KIES cannot update because for it, you have Netherlands device with UK firmware.
Can you put here the output of this command (on phone dialer) : *#1234#

Can I flash Netherlands / 2012 August / 4.0.4 / I9300XXBLH1 / I9300PHNBLH1 with odin without losing user data? I've read that there are rom-versions for odin that do not wipe your phone. Otherwise I just wait for the official netherlands jellybean firmware and do a full wipe/install of that rom when it's my turn.

I confim that you have OpenEurope (OXA) firmware. Normaly, you can flash Netherlands firmware without losing user data (non wipe firmware), but if you have a boot loop, wipe data and cache will be necessary. So keep your data in a safe place before flashing your phone.
Doesn't screenshot 3 tells me i'm on PRO (which is belgian csc).
So if I summerize is correct:
I have a UK firmware on Belgian PRO but I need Netherland firmware on Netherland PHN?
Can I make it fully Belgian PRO WITH kies support?
By flashing Belgium / Luxemburg - 2012 June - 4.0.4 - I9300XXALF5 - I9300PROALF1. Or is my serial number forever bound to PHN?

Yes, you have : United-Kingdom Firmware / Belgium CSC and Netherlands Devices.
For sure, you have strong galaxy S3.
If it provides from Netherlands, the model must be one thing like that : GT-I9300RWDPHN and it never changes when flashing ROM.
For changing it : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.johnan.spooffw (I don't know how it works, so be carefull)
For KIES, your phone must have PHN firmware. But you can use another one (without automatic KIES update). I don't recommend using Belgium/Luxemburg firmware because it was very old (compare to United-Kingdom firmwares).
If you want JellyBean, you can try the latest UK firmware XXDLJ4. If it doesn't work well on your phone, you go back on PRO firmware.
I think I going to wait until PHN jelly bean comes out. They say it is best to wipe going from ics to jb. Then I just wipe and flash the right one. Thanks dude.
