Lol guarantee? Nothing is a guarantee in the android world... Ever.

I saw a tweet saying its not coming to DX2. It being saved for the DX3.

Really and where is this tweet I haven't seen hide nor hair of anyone saying anything about what is or isn't getting ICS.
I agree there are no guarantees but if the bootloader ever gets unlocked I am sure someone will build some source ROMs for it. I also, and this is 100% opinion, think it will get ICS as long as Google kicks the devs at Motorola in the ass and tells them to stop releasing buggy as **** software. That and the device will still be fairly new, even if it is seriously lacking in the memory department. Hell I bet someone build ICS for the OG DROID.

it would be nice to see the ICS on this device. i hope development continues for it especially after the long wait for GB to arrive but my fear is that it will be overlooked do to the new devices coming soon...only time will tell...

any one know if the atrix community will be receiving a possible honey comb for the atrix 1?
Really? Honeycomb is only for tablets dude

No need to be a douchebag, how about help this guy since obviously he got it mixed up with ice cream sandwich which basically is just honeycomb for mobiles.
anyway, for the tc, ics will be released for ATRIX, there just isn't a set date yet.

Where did you see that ICS will be released for the Atrix? I can't seem to find that anywhere.
No one he's assuming. But I kinda assume the same.

If you look at this forum post on the Motorola site and read the answer the forum administrator gave which is a official employee. The outcome does not look good. He did not say no but read it for yourself. You will have to Google Attic Motorola Forum Ice Cream Sandwich. I can't post a link for some reason.

The problem with Atrix and ICS...
... as far as I know, is the 'webtop' Laptop Dock accessory.
In order to ensure that ICS is a complete solution for Atrix, Motorola may have to invest time and resources on ensuring that people's webtops will continue to integrate and operate correctly after ICS has been deployed on the hosting handset.
Since they don't have that problem with their other handsets (although, does the new razr work with webtop, guys?), it seems they may decide to shaft everyone with an Atrix by skipping it's ICS upgrade.
There's always something with Motorola.
So if you're in love with the idea of ICS, you might want to consider a different handset.
Also, as noted, Honeycomb is tablet-android. The Atrix is running Gingerbread, the last release for handset-android before ICS.
Hope this helps.
Mind how you go.
Ics is already in development in the custom rom world. Will it get webtop functionality? Unlikely unless cm9 has that capability built in, which seems to be on the backburner for now. You can probably expect a stable build of cm9 (ics) on the atrix in a month or two, I'd guess.

Could ICS be coming to X2 from Verizon?

Per Droid Life, and Twitter, Verizon tweeted that they are in the midst of updating their Software Upgrade Timeline. Droid Life is stating they feel the X2 is a yes in getting it.

We can only hope! I saw, tweet the snot out of Verzion and DEMAND ICS for the X2 (and adding an unlocked boot loader would be icing on the cake, er sandwich)
I have to agree with this list. Although I don't think the x1 down will receive ICS to push users to get newer devices.
It better also come with an unlocked bootloader IF we get ICS!
Good news. We deserve SOMETHING from Motorola. If not an unlocked bootloader then ICS for sure. Motorola has given us nothing but a few crappy bug fixes. lol. But Im not in too much of a hurry though since I have CM7 now.

True, very true. But, to have an official ICS means possibly that Dragonzkiller and company can REALLY go to town on CM9 for the X2!
Motorola better not stiff us on ICS like they did the boot loaders.
But, the X2 will still be my final Moto device since they lied to us about the boot loaders and have not returned a single email I've sent. And I've been cordial and tactful. No hate, no cussing, no name-calling; very business-like but frank and to the point.

This could be why 2.3.5 still hasn't been released for this phone after tht leak.... Still on 2.3.4 eclipse and running great.
I was under the impression Moto said that every dual-core device would get ICS eventually.

It didn't, only way to get GB on the OG was through custom ROMs such as CM7.
ICS maybe is better then no ICS at all... err. Think we all need patience, I am sure Moto will be pushing ICS to their 4G devices first, but who knows.

Is somebody working on CM9 or ICS for X2 or are we going to need a pushed ICS update for the kernel before a ROM is attempted?
I doubt we will get it but if we do? A 4.0 superbloated blur infested phone is what we will have. My question would be...will 2nd init likely have to be started from scratch?

I'm waiting until either the bionic or razor to get it and watch their forums to see what moto has screwed up or even make it possible to root my theory is that we might have to create a new 2int which would suck

I hope we definitely get it, but if CM7 mod can get out of beta and be almost 100% working I'll be fine with that until ICS. Personally I think it's 50/50 for us to get it or not. It's arguably the best pure 3G dual-core phone on the market

Do You Think The Droid X2 Will Receive Official Android 4.0 Update?
While there is obviously no official information on this I'm confident we will receive the update this summer.
Based on the fact that they haven't even said the Droid 3 is getting it, I'm leaning toward no.

I have a strong inkling that we wont see it. According to what Moto said, we should get it, but that wouldn't be the first time Moto wasn't honest (bootloaders).

I'm guessing yes, we're all waiting for 2.3.5 officially and not that non-finished leak. Maybe they skipped that and are going to 4.0.1.

Here is what Motorola is saying right now concerning ICS:
A note about Ice Cream Sandwich:
We are planning to upgrade DROID RAZR™ by Motorola, Motorola RAZR™, Motorola XOOM™ and DROID BIONIC™ by Motorola to Ice Cream Sandwich. We will provide more precise guidance on timing after post-public push of Ice Cream Sandwich by Google, as well as any possible additions to this list of devices.

Considering it's been officially released by Google, isn't it time for Motorola to get on the ball? I guess we could see it, but the real question is, will we see it?
You can keep up-to-date on this information at the Motorola Android Software Upgrade site at https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c
motorola is saying to twitter followers that their software update page is in the process of being updated. And come to think of it, apart from Razr, Bionic nothing is confirmed. However, if you take a look at the remaining phones motorola has, for verizon the D3 and X2 are the two top dogs from the rest of the phones. AT&T has atrix 4g...
And if they ask users to be patient and wait for an update on the website, chances are they are saying so to keep them excited. And they probably wouldn't raise the hopes of people like that whose phone isn't going to be updated. So, we may see updates to more phones. And if they are gonna update more phones they can not leave the X2 as it is one of the top phones among the phones that are not yet confirmed.
So long story short, I think we are gonna see an update.
I have also been reading by different reviewers and such that, they feel like the dual core phones will likely receive ICS. But, you never know. If the DX2 does get it, I would bet on this summer.
'Keeps fingers crossed until upgrade in Sept'
Dzk got it on his x2 but dont ask him bout it. It could be sooner than anyone thinks

Google Chrome for Android.

Looks pretty slick.... ics only.... I assume they will make a version for gb phones.
Sucks it's ICS only. Any ideas on why it took them so long to get the ball going for this on Android? I assume ICS got the first release because of hardware acceleration, but you'd think they'd have a previously working version looooong ago.
Does anyone have the APK? We can try and install it anyways...

It does not and will not work without some serious hacking from what I've been told.
It does not work.
Heh, it started for me on my cm9 galaxy tab but then forced closed when i tried to search.

That's because ICS was a major upgrade from Gingerbread, especially at the kernel level. It was more of a rewrite than an upgrade.
Hence, this is looking for ICS libraries. It's possibly also looking for an ICS kernel which we don't have AND won't have unless Verizon decides to release ICS for the X2.
We are at the mercy of Verizon on this one.
Remember, CM9 will still have the GB kernel, not an ICS one since we cannot replace the kernel due to the locked bootloader. Again, at the mercy of Verizon AND Motorola on the locked bootloader.
I've been waiting for Chrome on Android for the entire time I've had an Android (about a year and a half). I just came across an article about on another website, read the whole thing with excitement, and then shot a baby when I read it was only for ICS. WTF?! That's very disappointing to me. Any thoughts as to why they did that? Maybe because it's beta and wanted limited exposure at first?
If they just now started working on getting chrome out then it really doesn't make sense to release it on gingerbread and ics. I would expect that it would be released for their newer os rather than the one that is going to be phased out. Maybe once they get all the bugs worked out they will release a version usable on gingerbread, so phones that won't be updated, or even new phones that aren't as powerful as the phones sporting ics, will be able to use it.

I've been able to use it on my ICS Xoom, and let me say, it is amazing. Comparable to the PC version in terms of performance. I think we should be able to use it with CM9, whenever that is released.
Adobe isn't supporting flash anymore for mobile devices so that makes sense

Because we are stuck on the gingerbread kernel, CM9 may not work unless Motorola releases ICS for DX2. As stated earlier, apk needs libraries from the ICS kernel. The only other option is to hack the actual apk.

Motorola not upgrading the droid 3 and droid x2 to ics because it wont improve them.

This has absolutely no relevance. This isn't a whining post. Peoples disdain for moto and Verizon has nothing to do with the community. Everyone here is very supportive and appreciative of the devs hard work. But who wouldn't want an official ics for our phone? It would help the devs a lot. Chill out with your misplaced self righteousness.

If you got official ics I bet DK would give you a Stable cm9 the next day with everything working.
We still would do well with a kernel that is for ICS.

I'm in the same boat as you, running Eclipse.
I've been running cm9 since release and it hasn't locked up or restarted? I find its actually not to unstable although I don't use camera and don't run many apps. Battery life is a little bit worse than cm7. Lack of flash I think is the worst I personally see.
Edit... I think cm9 would be a lot more stable for folks if they would turn off auto rotation for the time being.

That's the only difference I can see as to why I don't have a lot of fc's or random reboots. I hope it works for you. I think cm9 gets an undeserved bad rap because a lot of people forget its a very early alpha and try to run it like its an oe rom.
