The Droid Incredible just got theirs. Is Verizon waiting until the bionic comes before they drop GB for the TB or what do you guys think?
They said Q3 in some reports.
Also, from what I read, they are trying to work out some software kinks.
Me thinks, its relegated to something like " ehh, we'll try to get the GB somehow for the TB"
I'm unfamiliar with anything beyond rumor and invention regarding a 3rd quarter release of gingerbread. It will come. But I still haven't figured out what the mad obsession with gingerbread is among some folks.

GB release
Seems to me they might want to lock it down tight like mr2 w/tether removal & make it as bug free as poss. although I think since the announce of TB2 (Vigor) they could be more focused on that to avoid another TB debacle... just my thoughts...

There is more than a few people who will refuse to take the ROOT plunge and those are the people that will hope and pray for the next OS such as GB or ICS to come out for their phones. I understand at the same time they are posting on a site that is normally for rooted phones but I dont understand why most people have to be smartass about it. I am rooted but yet have I read a post about GB or new phone coming out and have to post a comment that does not belong there. CanesDrew wants everyone to be an expert that this point and wants a perfect world, what is a world with out the next OS or the next phone? My post got locked but it continues to get views why cause people do care about the next. I bet with ICS come out and the developers create the ROM we are going to see rooted people talking about how good everything is on this side of the fence, geez I wonder why the other side keeps asking when it is coming for them.

Eh, "gimme now" threads are generally semi annoying and tend to add nothing to the forum no matter if the OP is rooted or not. There's generally a logical reason why something isn't released yet that most of them seem to miss, whether it's a phone, os or just a rom.
Even if the OP is just being "curious," it's not like someone is sadistically holding back whatever they're hyped up about.
You also have to admit on the General forum there is really not much going on from day to day, most the the problem post having to to with develpoment are posted on the ROM they are currently using IE (CM7, OMFGB, Th3ORY). I think honestly they post over here cause it has alot of active members who may read and have heard leaked information having to do with future releases of GB and/or ICS.

Dear Ryno,
Thank you for emailing HTC Technical Support regarding an update to the HTC Flyer.
The device should get a small maintenance release update very early in 2012 and Honeycomb sometime after that.
We apologize for any inconveniences that this may cause you, Ryno.

For those of you still waiting, I just called HTC and was told this exact same thing, word for word. Clearly reading from a script. Too bad. If you "want" to root Globatrons guide and support in his thread is top notch. The decision is yours though, It's your device. HTC told us it was coming soon earlier this year, soon is obviously a relative term.

Too bad, I believe that HTC will try to make it without any problem, but it really takes very long long time. More than half year was passed. I really need the function which allowing pen works on sketchbook or quill. I think i should not wait for htc and try to root Globatrons guide ..., shouldn't I?

If you look at the pdf it shows the update at about 52.5mb. I do believe that ICS will be much bigger. Also if you look at the pdf it shows Dec 2011 in all the pictures. So NO this is not about the ICS update but was for the Jan update.

I'm sure they will, they certainly can't release it with the way it is such a battery killer.
By the way, before somebody posts that my battery life went up to three weeks with the latest leak, save your breath -I don't believe it.
Been a frequent visitor to the Verizon page and this is the first time I seen that article. Could be wrong but I have a very good feeling that ICS is coming sooner then many on this forum thinks. I sure hope it does, coming from the Thunderbolt just a few weeks ago I have been holding off Unlocking the Bootloader and rooting this thing. This is the first phone I have bought that I have not rooted and flashed a Rom within just a few hours of buying it. This phone is a beast, love it.

Haha, exactly. Have seen several posts by what I would call fanboys talking about how awesome the ICS leak is and how they can go forever on their batteries, longer than on GB. Everytime I read one of those, I cringe. I think batt life with the display off is better but when display is on, the battery meter is a countdown timer, it flies!!

Wait until the OTA is pushed and then someone will post a link to download the ruu tool to update it from a computer.
I'd be ironic if the "update" is that they are dropping the Rezound price to FREE with a new contract. With the way its been going recently, that announcement is probably not far off..

Sadly i agree. They sure want to shrug this device off, not good business practice.
I waited till April 6th and when I did not see any ICS OTA, I flashed Clean Rom ICS and I am happy with it. I don't know what difference the official upgrade will offer but I am not really excited about it anymore given that I am already running ICS with maybe more than what will be in the upgrade. I don't really care about sense 4.0 because I am running the DEV version of clean Rom with Apex launcher, which in my opinion is even better than Nova.
Was this what the page said before or is it like an updated page.

I was wondering the same thing. My other phones(Samsung Droid Charge, Moto RAZR) update just fine over Wi-Fi. The Rezound is my first HTC phone. It always wants to switch to 4G/3G when checking for updates. I assume this means it will not update to ICS over Wi-Fi. I'm not sure why they designed it this way.
My Rezound is currently being used as a Wi-Fi-only device. (i.e. no Verizon service) I do still have my Galaxy Nexus active on my VZW acct. I figured I can just pop the 4G LTE SIM card into the Rezound when they release the ICS. After it updates, I'll just take the SIM card out and put it back into the Galaxy Nexus. I have a SIM card adapter for this. (Rezound uses standard SIM and Galaxy Nexus uses micro-SIM cards)
Since I have both the Galaxy Nexus and Rezound.... I can't honestly say that I prefer ICS over Gingerbread. ICS has some cool features, but that's about it.... most of the stuff that I do on my Galaxy Nexus doesn't involve ICS-only features. Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing my Rezound updated to ICS, just so both phones can operate in a similar fashion.
ICS Update Delay
Maybe HTC & Verizon had a change of heart (I tried not to choke while thinking that) and the have decided to include Sense 4.0 with the ICS OTA. Of Course I could win the lottery if I actually bought tickets too!
Seeing that there is a boatload of work to install this leak, I decided that its probably time to do homework instead of trying to play with my phone at 2AM.
However, I have noticed a lot of people saying that the release cannot be too far behind since the leak came out.
I'm a bit skeptical on this idea, because didn't a leak come out for the HTC Sensation ages ago? Now, I did not research much, but as far as I know (again, I may be wrong), the Sensation didn't have an official update either.
Its definitely not too far-fetched to think that the update might be delayed even further. HTC did promise that the updates would be early 2012 and as we all know, "early 2012" was a long time ago. Some said the updates would be during MWC, some said otherwise. What do you guys think?
As for development, this is definitely a very good sign as the interest and traffic for the HTC Amaze the past two days were quite phenomenal. The CM9 builds and Evervolv builds never really got anywhere for months. Do you guys think its worth downloading the leak now? Or would waiting be a better option? From what I heard, you have to re-root your device simply downloading the update.

Yes and no is my uneducated opinion. I feel like they're update the firmware yet because the radio seems finicky. With s-off, I think that they'll just be able to update the firmware through hboot, but with s-on I think we'll need to go stock, download the update, then do the reroot process....I could be off, but in the end we'll still be ok for any updates either way.
I think that pushing One S sales definitely sounds likely.
Meanwhile, I just think T-Mobile is bad with updates and this sucks for the development community because it means less resources to help people. There are so many devices out there getting updates anyways. Its not like updating the Amaze is going to hurt their revenue either. Its just frustrating. I definitely advise against waiting for an update from T-Mobile. Definitely update now. There are already great ROMs that were made.

THIS.
I can't wait for this device. Preemptive thanks to all the devs working on this one.
So I have some questions:
1) Does S-on with an unlocked boot loader through HTCDev allow for CM9 and other AOSP ROMs?
2) Does the Kernel source releases on other One X phones include the code for the ImageSense chip? This will be tied into how well the camera performs under CM9, etc.
Thanks!
Dev for the Evo line are the best. I've had the OG Evo, the 3d and now the Evo lte. And this is good news.

I don't see how they'd have any time to fix this before shipping next Wednesday. Plus, how will they know? They better not be so out to get us that they surf the internet forums looking for people who have found ways around their system. And even if they did, would they be able to find out HOW they exploited it? I'm asking hypothetically, because I don't know these answers. But my thinking is that there is way too little time and ability to change anything now. Maybe on the next wave of phones, sure. But our 001 hardware will be exploited mightily it would seem!

You would be suprised at home many companies have people who just surf the net to stay up on these type of things. If someone were to put it out there, believe me Sprint/HTC/ AT&T whoever would have people trying to close the hole so fast.

They also have S-off, although they haven't released that into the wild yet.

No we don't have s off and its not in the wild. There is only another root method that is unreleased.

Yup they have the s-off but are not releasing it I'm thinking it's because of the EvoLTE they want it to be release so they'll release it for both phoones so they both have the s-off before they get patch. Im thinking is the same method since they have the same s4chip.

I've seen some crazy stuff in the past man..Simply they find the fix make a quick fix and ask Sprint Reps to manually update phones before handing them out on release day.

HTC promised us the ICS update by the end of July. Wrong again. Here we are in August and no ICS update. I think I am like most people and dont really care about the update itself so much as HTC releasing the source code so we can get serious modding done. Personally, I am running CleanROM and it works great. I wouldnt mind having a new CleanROM based on the offical ICS update, though, if it ever comes out.
Either way, I will NEVER buy another Verizon or HTC phone again. This was my first on both of them and it will be my last for sure. Soon as my 2 yr contract is up, I'm ditching Verizon.
Edit: Well, go figure. I post this and then the update comes out the next day. Mod, delete this whole thread at will, it serves no purpose now.
You're surprised?
Because of a mere update? Okay... They never promised July, they said summer which as far as I know it still is.So this is why devs hate when people ask for ETAs.

Then don't buy another one. We don't need 25 threads with the same topic clogging up the forums
They didn't promise, they gave a tentative timeline, "subject to change".

Dear Andrew S,
Thank you for contacting HTC regarding the Android 4.0 update. I understand that you are excited to receive the update for your HTC Rezound. I will be happy to share the information I have with you.
The ICS (Android 4.0) update will be released for the Rezound by the end of this month (July) with final pushes in August. Due to localization, testing, and partner approvals, updates do not roll out to all devices at the same time. For devices on a wide variety of carriers and in many countries, rollouts can take up to 45 days from the initial update to reach everyone. It’s almost here, Andrew! We are as excited as you are. I hope you enjoy the rest of your week!
Let me know if I have successfully answered your question, please click here to complete this.

Why do people insist this is HTC's fault alone. From what I understand, HTC had already prepared the update, Verizon just hasn't pushed it to our phones yet. HTC doesn't push out OTA updates....Verizon does. Focus your hate on them.

Final pushes in August...besides that source is as reliable as the update list with a huge CONFIDENTIAL watermark on it lol

HTC doesn't really control this anyway. They give the updates to Verizon and Verizon pushes them. HTC can only report what VZW is telling them.
Am I the only one sick of these threads/posts? We have had ics forever and yet everyone is *****ing about an ota. Kernal source, blah blah blah. :banghead: We will get it when we get it, enjoy the roms we have.

HTC has had the update finished for a while now I'm sure. It's all just sitting in Verizon's desk under a stack up of new contract papers and hate mail somewhere.
It's not HTC its Verizon. Verizon has this new thing called the cloud that saves you emails and pic ect....... I know this because I had a htc Inc2 that received a update and it lost emails Facebook ect.....so Verizon offered me the rezound because they had no time line to fix it so thanks to Verizon cloud we don't have ics this is why htc keeps posting it on there web page its available . Htc is not the problem it will always be Verizon

Yeah the update is in queue. VZW is who decides when it goes out, so be mad at them, not HTC.

Isn't the point of having a forum like XDA, which has so many talented developers, that you don't have to wait if you don't want to? As about a billion people have posted on all these "waiting for OTA" threads have said, ICS for the Rezound is available RIGHT NOW for anyone that wants it - you don't even have to root - I'm new to the Rezound, but have been rooting phones with the help of XDA for years now - i have CHOSEN to wait for the OTA, knowing that at any time I can flash one of the great ROMS that have been put together with great care and support by some really smart people - it just seems odd that people who are on a forum dedicated to NOT WAITING for manufacturers to get their act together will post repeatedly about how upset they are about having to wait -

Excellent point, will still need them to officially release ICS so in turn they have to release the ICS kernel source code also then the devs can do even more great work.
