[Q] App to "send" Media to the PS3 -> control via device - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
im searching for an app thats "beams" my media files to the PS3.
I tried Twonky Server, Imediashare and some others and they all work, so i can see all the files from my device on the PS3. But the Problem is, i have to take the PS3 Controller to open/play the files. Is there an App that let me control the "open-process" via my DHD or Flyer?
I can choose the player in Twonky Server, but i cant see my ps3 :S Am i doing something wrong?

PS3/XBOX connectivity?

Hi all,
I'm new to Android and am now a proud owner owner of the SGS2 (bye bye Nokia N97 ).
Is there any way my consoles can see the S2 folders when connected through USB?
Many thanks in advance.
The PS3 could read the file system on the SGS1. I haven't test it with the SGS2 but it's easy enough to test. Just connect the SGS2 to PS3 in USB mode then go to music/video and select the USB storage (triangle->display all).
I have tried to connect to both, the PS3 says usb device not recognised and xbox sees that a device is plugged in but cant find any files...
Whilst not totally what you're asking for you can actually stream video and audio to the Xbox and PS3 through DLNA. Samsung have bundled the AllShare app for it and it seems to work pretty well.

On your phone go to: Settings > Wireless and Network > USB Utilities > Connect storage to PC
Or use doubletwist airsync

How is this done on xbox? Do I need to add anything or do it via laptop?
Will it stream mkv and avis via xbox?
The XBox has a DLNA client, so you should be able to stream direct from the phone to the XBox using AllShare or similar.
The XBox will only play formats that it can play itself, though. DLNA streaming just streams the file, the phone won't do any format conversions.

PS3 is the same. Unfortunately it won't play videos shot by the SGS2 as they are 3GPP.

The filename on mine say that as well but when it is buffering to stream it says 3gpp which IIRC is a profile of mp4.
Thanks for the replies guys...
Connected to both with USB using Bawezy's answer and they both recognized the S2.
The Xbox show videos as mp4 and the PS3 won't play them at all, I guess the latter sees them in their 3gpp format.
Couldn't get the Allshare to work with the Xbox, the S2 sees the Xbx but I don't know how to see shared files, not yet tried with PS3.
I'm looking for a program that will convert videos made on GSII to playable on PS3
Any idea ???
Of course - working on GSII
What format are your videos?
Ps3 Quick way: Enable usb debugging on phone. Connect to ps3. Once connected, enable mass storage on phone.
Then Go to Videos on ps3, and press triangle on the USB, click 'display all'.
You have all your folders to see. The files that aren't compatible won't be displayed.
So far I've not been able to play MKV files. Not sure about 3gp.
And about DLNA streaming. You could try that with downloading iMediashare or Skifta from the market for free. I use iMediashare.

[Q] how to use DLNA?

Dos anyone knows how to use DLNA with connected media app on E3D? I have a PS3 and bluray player that DLNA enabled but I can't use the connected media app when it searches for player it doesn't find anything. I can use the media share app and my ps3 and bluray player sees the phone but I find that complicated way of streaming media from my phone. So any ideas how to make this thing work? Thanks.
Media share app complicated? It's so easy and that's what you're going to have to use my friend or download an app off the market. In media share app, just check the share box, choose which folders on your SD cars to share, music, DCIM, VIDEOS, ETC. AND BOOM!!

And boom? Lol funny. What if I have close to 100 videos and thousands of music? That connected media app there for a reason and I want to know how it works.

Streaming media - what's the best way??

I would like to share video from my computer / sgs2 on the tab. I cannot find a way to launch allshare although the internet suggests this should be possible. Sending files via Bluetooth doesn't seem to work, either and the 2 devices have a lot of problems finding each other. What is the best way to play video stored on my phone wirelessly on the tab?

I'm using a TVersity Media Server on my desktop and Skifta on my tablet to stream music and video (using Dice Player). Works very well, at least for my 720p tv series.
I use TVersity straight to my tab's browser.
+1 for Tversity, and i use UpnPlay for the viwer
since plex is not working anymore i now use emit.... works great for me
i want to test this option also in the future:
Code:
I'm using a TVersity Media Server on my desktop and Skifta on my tablet to stream music and video (using Dice Player)
i also tried to connect via a file explorer, but could not setup a connection because i dont have/want a password on my windows 7 account(s)

Don't need one. Just share the folder with Everyone.

[Q] how do i get allshare to work on the player

Hello pplllzzzi just saw the allshare app on the galaxy player 5.0 us version and then i tried using is somehow but it didnt work. Has anybody tried it and succesfully used it?
The Allshare app uses DLNA. I have not tried it but my understanding is that DLNA is a media sharing protocol that works over UPNP. Basically, you need to have another device on your network that is sharing media files using DLNA. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but Playstation 3 uses DLNA right? I think there are DLNA servers for linux but I'm not sure about windows... Probably need to have UPNP enabled on router too...
If I am correct, Windows 7 comes with a DLNA server. The media player in Windows 7 can share music and videos with other DLNA devices.
You can also try something like Twonky, TVersity and many other DLNA server.
Ok thanks both of you
