Mine just showed up one day last week. It'll auto-update itself at some point.
Seriously, it looks nice, but you're not missing much.
Yup. You can force it to update usually by going to manage applications, all, market, then selecting clear data. Relaunch the market and out should be the new one.

It will come as an automatic update, or you can download the apk file from this post here & install manually with a file manager app (Astro, ES File Manager, etc.):

Oh yeah it looks nice but seems totally worthless for me. Both my android devices now have it and both are now having issues. It shows only a handfull of apps available. It seems to totally disregard about 75% of the apps I already had downloaded and ignored all the apps I installed to SD card. I haven't had time to thoroughly research my issues but the research I have done came up with nothing. I'm not sure what to do now but I'm really frustrated because it seems many other's are having similar issues yet Google has done nothing and has said nothing about it. I'm going to look into it more tonight but because of this crap I have already done irreparable damage to my phone which will now need to be reflashed.
P.S. I did find a "fix" but it did nothing. I also found some info stateing something to the effect that its now something that other app developers need to address. If that's true I'm calling B.S.

What was the fix you attempted?
The fix was clearing the cache and data. Or maybe it was one not the other. Anyways I'm sure I followed the instructions just fine and they seemed to work for others so I dunno, I guess maybe I didn't follow the instructions as well as I thought.
There is some light at the end of the tunnel though. I was able to find the fix for my rooted/flashed Nook and had hopes of the fix also for my Eris. The fix although thought to be temporary was to change the screen density setting in the build prop from 161 to 160. It worked. But in my Eris I don't see screen density in the build prop. Ill figure it out. lol eventually. Actually I really need to flash a new rom anyways. So please disregard my posts and please continue.
There of a fix posted in this forum that seems to work. It involves moving vending.apk to the sd card and back to reestablish your market account.

Wow, sounds like some rough spots are still being addressed. I was contemplating forcing it but maybe I'll wait for it. Hopefully the bugs will be addressed soon!

As Klob suggested, try the procedure from this post here. This cleared up the market issues I was having. Also, it may be my imagination, but after doing this, things seem to load a bit faster in the market for me.

Maybe try via WiFi? I doubt that helps, but just confirm that for me.

Okay, I have officially tried everything. Burned my whole afternoon. Even restoring completely to stock with odin doesn't work. Heading in to Verizon tomorrow.
Just give it some time. Mine was like that for about 24 hours.

Did you try modifying your build.prop file...maybe the footprint got botched.
I did not. Is there an instruction post? I'll search for it tomorrow. About to crash.
Unsure about waiting 24 hours, how does that work?
I know for the dinc there was a market fix so that the phone identified itself as a nexus one to the market. Perhaps something like that would work.

please some one chime in ???
I flashed CWM last night and everthing is fine. Connected to wifi today at work market isn't giving me any problems.
I was the first guy to get CWM installed on the Fascinate, and I haven't had a single problem with the Market, paid or free.
I don't know if it has anything to do with CWM, but the issue didn't begin until I loaded it, so it's something that got screwed up along the way.
Before I loaded it, I undid the lagfix, wiped, re-rooted, and ran through the CWM steps.
Now I have gone completely back to stock, and am still having the same issues. My G/Fs Fascinate is fine however. I wasn't sure if anyone was familiar with what would be causing the issue, I understand it's working fine for everyone else. lol.

Go do Settings - > Privacy -> Reset Factory Default (something like that).
It's different than a recovery wipe, this will rebuild /dbdata.
I betcha one whole dollar that fixes it. Unless you already did that. In which case I do not bet you one dollar.

Ha. trying now.
For anyone searching this problem, the easiest solution (all thanks to Fallen4u) is to purchase ($4), download, and install Camera 360 Ultimate (Pro version no longer available on Market, afaik). This will basically replace your broken camera software (where it just sits on "please wait" - until the cows come home after jumping over the moon) with working software that brings camera back to life. This solution does not require resetting phone which does NOT guarrantee camera software will work with the Froyo 2.2 (I think it's called Froyo, anyway. I know it's the 2.2 update). So, if you have lots of software, don't want to mess with flashing this that or whatever, just save yourself the time and trouble and download the above mentioned software. Problem fixed. It also gives you many more fun possibilities from what my lady friend showed me this evening.
If the camera firmware update failed, the best thing to do is follow adrynalyne's thread to rewrite the firmware instead of purchasing an app.

I didn't ignore it, I let her know about it, and she said no. Other than that, 1) It wasn't my phone to mess with and I have no familiarity whatsoever with Android phones. Like I said in my original post, the issue belonged to a lady friend. And, 2), like most people, she's not comfortable with doing anything of the nature described unless she fully understood it first and that it was a verifiable fix. 3), What may appear simple and easy to you, may not appear simple and easy to her. Or, me. One mistake and who knows? Poof goes your phone? So, 4), for the many people like her, where Verizon's 2.2 update broke their camera (and there are many!) simply downloading different software may seem the best/only solution for them. They should at least know it is an alternative. And finally, 5), I hoped for a fix that someone who actually had this problem found and offered. My impression was that the poster, who you say I ignored, did not have that problem himself. As such, I had no way of knowing or verifying that "fix" worked and wasn't a case where the "cure is worse than the disease."
After scouring for two days I am just giving up and asking for help. Here is what happened. I have a At&t Galaxy Note. It was rooted but very glitchy. Kept shutting off, weird lines going through the screen, my camera didnt work. I know for that process I did TWRP and cyanogenmod. I went back to att stock from a forum found here. After I did that I had no google apps anywhere. SO my brother found some gapps.zip thing. He put it on my phone after I had restored back to a previous version that did have them. Now my phone wont stay on for longer than a minute. I cant get it to recognize on my computer. So I cant even try to get into it to see if I can fix anything. Everytime I conntect it, a message pops up that says that it cannot install MTP... Even if I restore again, as I have tried. It is still not letting me use it. Then my brother decided to re root it I guess. And that is all well and fine but i still cant use my phone. I saw something about a .zip that removes gapps but I havent been able to use that as my phone just wont install it in recovery mode. Can someone please please help me!!!!

wow. the first few sentences were making sense, then you just lost it grammar wise and lost me. it would have helped knowing what ROM was on your phone. from symptoms it sounds as if t was a 4.2 ROM with no GAPPS and some serious OC/UV issues.
but you lost me with your English and the "TWRP and CYANOGENMOD thingy" i know what they are obviously, but what you did with them is a HUGE guessing game. one person not knowing what they are doing is bad enough, but two of you.......... cant do that man. kind of like masturbating with someone elses hand man. who cleans up the mess.
absolute clean slate is going to be you best option in my opinion. the "Super Everything Thread" is going to be your new best friend.
read it, live it, learn it......................understand it. put yourself in position to help yourself first.
tutorals on YOUTUBE can help too.
can you get DOWNLOAD MODE?
do you have ODIN?
do you have PDA/ TAR files you need?
you may need to re-install the DRIVERS for phone on computer
there is a glossary in Super thread, that is why i capped these words. key points and things you need to do. its a marathon not a sprint.
go slow, one step at time, understand what you are doing. even rehearse it, i did. be confident in what you are doing. make sure you have files for I717.
read the OP's for ROM's
some need GAPPS (4.2) and some don't (4.1.2) or Touchwiz
the new 4.3 will also need GAPPS and there are 4.2 and 4.3 GAPPS. again make sure you have right files. all the more reason to take your time.
and uh, don't just let someone flash whatever on your phone, that's how you get a BRICK.
good luck and let us know.
if i have stated anything wrong, someone else will be buy to correct.
nothing wrong with how i am telling, others just may have shortcuts.
what you do with it is up to you, i just like to understand what i am doing, cause i will have to fix it.
but keep us posted

Im sorry, Im just really frustrated. My phone was working fine yesterday and now its a very expensive paperweight. And not only that but Im having problems with my laptop. Apparently the hard drive just went clonkers for no reason and now I have to put in a new one. Yes I can get into download mode. Yes I have Odin. Yes I have the PDA/TAR files. I made sure everything was for the sgh i717. I read each process ten times before I did it. I installed my drivers from the Samsung website. I think my problem is that the internal sd card isnt being recognized. When I go into recovery mode, which is CMW btw, it gives me an eemc 07 error message and says it cant mount. When I can get my phone to stay on long enough for thecpu to recognize it it doesnt say sd card just phone memory. I will be sure to read the super everything thread. As for a ROM there isnt one on here. If I try to put one one it wont install and keeps saying that eemc 07 error message. Thanks for responding. Im spiraling in self-pity right now but im determined to get my phone back.
If you get it back to stock, do a complete erase/format, and your still having all these glitches, there's a good chance there's hardware issues. Especially if your not able to see the external SD card etc.
If your the original owner (I.E. you got it from a dealer with a plan), and you can get your counter reset to 0 on stock with these issues still showing up, it might be easiest to take it in and get a replacement. That is, if you have a warranty option available.

Its not the external sd but the internal one. Its just gone... I know that this is the problem at this point. But I have no idea how to resolve that issue. I have no idea where it is or how to get it back. I have been on xda and droidforums for an extreme amount of time trying to find a solution but nothing going. The only way I have seen to reset my counter is to use triangle away. As I cannot even use my phone due to freezing and restarting I cannot even install that app. I am hoping that one person in the wide world has had this problem and fixed it and will read this and tell me how to fix it.

you know, something going wrong with mine was my biggest worry. when I decide to screw something up, I can really screw something up. so I was very hesitant. it probably took me 2-3 months to get the courage to flash. but that was most likely a good thing. it made me be very thorough in the process.
all I am saying is don't let it completely discourage you. you have time.
glad you got phone back, I know it can be a bit of a scary thing. I have come across an issue or two myself and actually surprised myself by fixing myself. actually a pretty good feeling.

I'm very sad to admit that I updated from 4.2.2 to 4.3 on my Verizon Galaxy S4 and lost root. I made the terrible assumption that someone would root 4.3 quickly after release, but didn't want to wait to see the updates. So far, the only two solutions are:
1. Root on 4.2.2 and upgrade through this method
2. Use VROOT to root stock 4.3
This thread and this article both make me VERY wary of using VROOT, but this seems to be the only option once you do the OTA update.
Has there been any additional investigation into VROOT? Is it safe to use again, or is it a lost cause?
As of right now, that is the only option that I am aware of. I am no dev, but I have been tinkering with my phones for quite some time. I personally have not encountered a single ill effect from using vroot. There is a script which completely wipes it off your phone and installs the supersu app. Ultimately, it is up to you...I did it and I'd do it again. No ill effects what so ever and it's been a few weeks-nothing wonky to report.

Not a single thing was different on my phone. There were even some folks who ran an md5 checksum on all apps and reported that nothing was altered what so ever on any system level. I understand your concern, it took me a couple weeks before finally doing it. I really weighed it out and decided that root was important to me. Also, a good dev on the forums did it with no ill effects. I have faith in him and thus far, nothing has happened. I don't want to push you into it though. I don't even worry about it anymore since the script wipes all traces of the chinese superuser app off the phone.

I did the same thing. My life runs through my google account and I was very weary. I dont see anything strange occurring and ran malware scans on both the PC and phone and didnt find any trojans. I am assuming it is safe with the removal script posted on Rootjunky.com
I'm going for it.
Alright.... I just did it. I used Sandboxie on my computer to temporarily install the Chinese program (just to be safe), and everything on my phone now looks like it's fine. I'll keep a close eye on my accounts, and have enabled Two Step Authorization on my Google Account. I'll still be super bummed out if it ends up VROOT is collecting personal data, but I just couldn't bring myself to wait for root any longer.
I'm curious to know if the developers of vroot have removed the data mining features from the more recent versions?
Hello everyone,
I might have a big problem.
This morning I booted my HTC One M7 as usual, and when it finished booting it opened a browser tap with a fake whatsapp update. I closed the browser immediately, and five minutes after this, the exact same thing happened. I started thinking how this could happend, and honestly I have no clue. All my apps are from the play store, and I only download documents for school. I haven't even downloaded a new app in the last week, however 15+ of my apps aren't up to date.
I scanned my phone with malwarebytes and it couldn't find anything. I rebooted my phone after the scan, and the problem seems to be gone. I was telling this story to a friend of mine this afternoon, and my mother said that she experienced the same thing, just a couple hours before I experienced it. After further investigation, it wasn't exactly the same. When she opened whatsapp, it asked her to do a weekly back-up of her chats. At first, she closed whatsapp, but when it appeared again, she clicked yes. She wasn't very clear about this, so I don't know if it was a fake menu, or the real deal. I have also scanned her Moto g (2013), and it found no malware.
I don't know if this could be harmfull. Especially because my parents use their phones for mobile banking.
This is a screenshot of my HTC
It could easily have been done through whatsapp. Part of the reason most people have stopped using it. Viruses run rampant I'm just about all of Facebook apps. And no anti virus will find them as they are vastly different then normal viruses.

Yeah I heard alot of people in Europe use it alot, here in the states almost no one uses it really except for kids. Most have moved to hangouts.
If I was you I would completely back up the device and then wipe everything and reflash the device.
Things like this will not be picked up by so called virus scanners.
I'am afraid that it is something like ShiftyBug (https://blog.lookout.com/blog/2015/11/04/trojanized-adware/). In the article it says that you have to install apps from third parties, but I have almost never done that. I have downloaded popcorntime in the past, but I have deletet it almost 6 months ago.
I'm afraid that if I reflash my device, that it will come back fairly soon. Is it possible that it has spread over my wifi network? Because of the fact that my mother got something similar on the same day.
But how do I know for sure that it is a virus? After I restarted my phone (12 hours ago), it hasn't shown up yet. Am I worried for nothing, or is there a big chances that I'm infected?

Thank you for all your replies!

The key word there is almost. If you reflash the device and it comes back then it maybe something that someopne else downloaded and was shared through your network. As you said your mother also saw it so I would go through her phone as well.
There are many apps out there that do this that are in the play store. So it is all a matter of being careful.
There is a chance. If it is big or not depends on how you use your device. It could also have come from a website someone visited. Im not saying you did but many porn sites are set to infect devices when they visit them.
If it was me. I would just start from scratch with each device and make sure that all the things installed are legit.
You could also run a logcat and try to reproduce it. That would tell you what is causing it.
Doesn't seem dangerous.

Then you have not been paying attention. Any browser pop that tells you to update an app is 99% an infected apk. It is a common practice for those that take apks and re-package them with malware
After reading more i must admit you are right.... My bad:good:
So I have to flash my phone, aren't there any other options? And if not, how do I reflash The HTC firmware to my phone?
Should I make a back-up before doing this, won't the malware spread again if I instal the back-up on my phone?
Thanks again!
EDIT:
Unfortunately, I still haven't been able to reproduce the problem.
I still haven't been able to reproduce the pop-up.
I do propably know where the problem came from, a friend of mine sent me a older version of soundcloud (the new one can't cache music). I installed that app, decided that it was to old for me and deleted it. The malware must have spread right after the first use. I'm planning on flashing my phone inthe weekend.
EDIT: I can reprodce the pop-up! It's linked to opening the app 'night mode', this app was downloaded in the official play store 2 years ago. Since then it hasn't got a lot of updates though.
Hey,
Time for a little update.
Last weekend, I contacted HTC's customer support due to the fact that I couldn't find my software version. They told me that I should execute a RUU, but they couldn't find the right version, so I had to contact the Dutch customer support (I didn't do this in the first place because the Dutch customer support wasn't open in the weekend).
The next monday (23-11) I contacted the Dutch customer support and asked them for the ROM, and unfortunately due to the regulations they don't publish the ROM's. However, they told me to do a factory reset and that should solve the issue. Unfortunately, it didn't. After the reset, I now get a different Whatsapp pop-up once or twice a day. The pop-up isn't connected to opening an app, like it was before the reset.
A friend of mine experienced the same problem this week on his new Moto X. All the other phones in my home network don't have this problem.
I hope someone will be able to help me!
Thanks in advance!

There's a chance that it might've spread over a certain network.... Is you and your moto x friend uses the same network ?

Yes, we both use the wifi network at our high school. But I did the factory reset friday evening, and since then I haven't connected to that network.
It might have spread through that network though.

Depending on the malware a factory reset will not remove it. In fact most malware cant be removed that way. You have to flash the whole device to get rid of it.

In my opinion after starting all over again as you've already been told, you should do all that you did before and monitor each step with patience and concentration to actually understand what's behind this... This may help out

As he said. Here is what I would do if I was in your place. Anyone got any extra steps to add feel free to chime in. This would kinda suck for a bit.
You will need a custom recovery. And a bit of time to set up
1. Take everything off device.
2. Format full device in recovery. Not factory reset. Format system, data, internal storage and both caches.
3. Flash complete stock firmware.
4. Get root before rebooting
5. Reboot, do not connect to wifi during set up. Do not restore anything.
6. Get Catlog from the play store and run it.
7. Then continue set up. Wifi and ect. Scan backed up files with a pc virus scan but only return what you really need.
8. When restoring from TIBU install apps fresh from the market and restore data only to apps. (sucks I know but only way to be sure) make sure to delete old back and redo.
Then monitor catlog. This will tell you everything going on. You would be able to figure it out.

If you would've read it fully than you'll know that the case is far bigger than what you're thinking it is
