Safe to remove Apps from Dell Venue - Dell Venue

Hey guys, I got my Venue today, it's awesome. I've already rooted it, but I was wondering of all the Apps that are removable to make it safe to use.
Please advise, and thanks ahead of time!

do not hurry, wait for the OS updates, now very difficult situation with the recovery of the firmware
I removed: "Twitter" and "Tune-In", because do not use it

I think the only thing I kept was Tune-in (as far as Dells bloat, I don't really touch the stock Android apps). Everything has been running smoothly so far. You can also safely freeze the apps you don't wish to use.

Amazon mp3, Street view, Social Networking service,

I managed to remove all the above mentioned apps as well as the dell stage ui. That being said when I tried to do a factory restore the phone bricked, and I had to download a recovery image that the manni had posted to revive my phone.

yeah. I removed everything possible including unnecessary system services (if unsure look up sys service being removed to make sure you're not bricking phone). Left Dell UI alone though. When I did a factory reset it booted up fine. very clean. I used Titanium Backup to do the dirty work for me.
edit: do not remove google services or market though. removing gmail, Facebook works ok. then you can install a moded version of them

BUG..............Please advise

hi guys, well to cut it short my market isnt downloading, one of the users "GHIDDA" put forward the suggestion that i have activated a bug in market (infinity downloading at 0 KB or ETERNAL DOWNLOADING) by removing gtalk130 or chat1.6,
ive checked my apps and dont have chat1.6, it was suggested that i flash my rom, i know how to flash but what i need is some pointers on the ROM required and if some of the excellent brains on here could tell me more i would be bloody grateful lol
If you have Titanium Backup installed browse to Backup/Restore tab and list here what google apps you have installed and we will take it from there.
im a dunce

i dont have it, i used seus to repair my firmware back to r2ba026 uk gen, i could go through the flash process to give me r2ba023 rooted, would only take me 15 mins, i think the problem is ive messed my phone right up and would be better flashing a gen uk voda and taking it to the shop to get it sorted,

i have reflashed m8, a few times, still keeps happening, i reckon its down to either the vending or the talk apps that i might have deleted using root explorer, dont know if you can restore things from system or the data folder????
Can you list the google apps that you have left installed? Do you have IM?
google apps
google apps 1.3
google mail 1.3
google mail storage 1.6
google partner setup 1.6
google search (enhanced) 1.6
google search 1.6
google setting provider 1.6
google talk 1.3
google talk service 1.3
IM 1.6
Interesting... All google apps are there.. Hmm...
When you flashed you handset what firmware did you use? And from where did you download it?
Go to this post by Grospolina:

Download the pack and flash that firmware.
Dont use titanium backup to restore any settings..
sweet
one of the old ones going from rf16 through step 2 then 3 to give r2ba023 then step 3 to root, originally had uk gen r2ba026 unrooted, used x10 root to root installed titanium and root explorer, went OTT with the delete and browsing through allsorts of folders, deleting what i thought was useless (inc things in data and app and delvic so it might be down to a missing file or something from them perhaps.....im a effin newbie hence FNG) hard reset got what i thought was a great looking simplified phone and aaarrrggghhh market not working, which was weird as i had rooted and restored a few times as i kept making mistakes and market was working as i had to download ASTRO to install the x10root.apk, but after a last restore it just stopped working.........................hence im a DUNCE
aaaarrrggghhhhh
went through the process, 1-3 but my market still wont download, does changing google matter, i created a new one yesterday
Vodaphone rom
If anyone knows where i can get a stock uk vodaphone rom for flashing i would be grateful, i have the two original files from when i debranded but as far as im aware that cant be done anymore.................................................

Is the problem that you can't download apps from the market, and it just hangs on 'download starting', or something like that?
If so, just open Google talk, and wait for it to sign in (with an active internet connection), and the download(s) should start.
It's a common problem - just have a look here:
http://www.google.co.uk/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=57b5e3efa7477b50&hl=en
I hope that this solves the problem, as it did for me.
Good luck!
Internet
do you mean wi-fi, 3g or with browser?
what would happen
what would happen if i installed a rooted firmware and then removed all the google apps and even market, and removed all files and traces associated with them from system or data and then cleaned all my caches? just incase it has something to do with a file error/virus or bug, would seus be able to replace all missing elements in a reinstall, or to simplify can i erase nearly everything and get seus to repair?
Please read before going mad...............
hi peeps, just a quick update, google recently changes from GOOGLEMAIL.COM to GMAIL.COM..........anyone facing problems with sticky downloads should go to google via your PC and change your email to GMAIL (THERES A LINK TO DO THIS SUPER FAST, INSTANT CHANGE< dont worry you can still get your mail from your googlemail.com name)now go offline, pick up your phone turn on etc, go to SETTINGS/APPLICATIONS/MANAGE APPS/GOOGLE APPS and then press clear data to wipe, go back to menu press GOOGLE TALK and sign in with your GMAIL.COM ID........voila market works again the way it should, it must be a bug caused by the change by google recently.....but now its GOOOONE....thanks and good luck peeple

[Q] App stuck 'installing' in Market

Hello,
Got the 'apps stuck on installing' problem with the Market on new 2.1 firmware. I've read in other posts that it's possible to fix this by clearing the Market cache and data. However, on the X10 it's only possible to clear the Market cache and this doesn't seem to fix it.
Anyone found another way to fix (because I stupidly uninstalled the 'stuck' apps from the Apps Management settings menu and now I can't reinstall them )?
Generally enjoying 2.1, though (Angry Birds! )
Thanks!
I had this happen last week with a number of apps (all stuck at "Installing") at once. There was no option to cancel, and rebooting didn't help. Eventually, I just re-flashed my firmware (and added JIT to boot).
Knock on wood... so far so good.
errase all data of google, restart. click on market put ur data , must be fix it. thats wut i did

I tried deleting the Google account from within 'Settings->Accounts & Sync' but the X10 told me that other apps were using this account and the only way to remove it was to factory reset the phone. How did you erase all your Google data?

I was really hoping not to have to do that - it's taken a while to get the X10 running something like I want it after the 2.1 update
Download the apk from somewhere else of the thing you installed thats stuck and install it. That restarted the one I accidentally uninstalled while updating it
In my case fixed with reflashing, nothing else was helpful

Have you rooted your X10? If so, make sure ou install and use Titanium Backup. If you keep your backups up-to-date, re-flashing is a minor inconvenience as you can restore (almost) everything to the way it was.
No, I've not rooted it. Generally I just use the phone and apps and don't try to do anything too techy with it. Is it still worth rooting (apart from to use Titanium Backup?)

Android Market cannot download apps :(

I think iI may have broke my Android Market!
Can still access the Market, but when I try and download an app, its shows the downloading progress bar and then just does nothing. It worked before.
I have been zapping a load of apps recently using Titanium Backup, could that have broke my downloading abilities?
Got a feeling it may be some of the google apps I removed, like google talk, even though I never use them.
Could anyone point me in the right direction to the x10 mini 2.1 stock app .apks?
Much appreciated
Maybe it's what you done with Titanium backup.
Try this first :
Go to Settings -> Applications -> "Menu" button -> Select "All". Then search Android market, clic on, and now clic on "Force stop" first, then "Wipe cache" and "Wipe data" ! Then reboot your phone and check if it's working
If it don't work, reflash your phone using SEUS !

This should be stickied but NEVER, EVER, EVER freeze, delete or even look at any of the Google Apps (any of the apps that say "Google..."), those apps are necessary in order for the system to work correctly, so by removing Google Talk you basically broke your Market.
Just restore a backup (if you have one), reflash the Google Apps or reflash your entire ROM, because I don't think there's a way to reinstall Google Talk.
Okay, looks like I'll have to start from scratch again then.
If I reinstall Android using the sony software, I take it I will lose all apps and root?
I think in future I'll avoid removing bloatware
Yeah, flashing the Sony ROM will wipe your phone clean, but hey it's not that hard to root and flash a custom ROM, just look around for tutorials and you'll be good to go
Was looking at the minicm6 rom, but can't really see the pro's outweighing the con's on using a custom rom. From what I understand, some things like camera and wireless are buggy.
Think I'll stick to the official 'stable' 2.1

Actually, MiniCM6 1.0.0 is pretty much stock ROM stable and has all the functionality of it, I use it every day and it works perfectly, what you have to weigh in the pro/cons is MiniCM7 as the Camera is still stuck on 640x480 instead of 5MP.
Right, flashed minicm6 rom, loaded and run okay, but just didn't like it.
Flashed back to stock 2.1 using sony software, everything back to normal, marking downloading again
On;y thing now is when I plug my phone into computer, it doesn't give the option to install pc companion anymore, just charge or connect. Not that I'm really too bothered though...

[Q] Restoring droid to stock

I couldn't leave well enough alone. I am in Europe, using a Verizon Motorola Droid, which was working (although at each boot would say 'unknown SIM - press ok, then it worked). I rooted the phone, installed Titanium, backed everything up and then started playing. I froze a load of bloatware - everything fine. I then downloaded Greenify and hibernated apps I didn't use. It was great. I should have stopped. I didn't. I downloaded Xposed framework, and then the Gravitybox module. Whoops. My phone took on a life of its own. First, my 'phone' (dialler) and 'people' (contacts) icons said 'app isn't installed' when they were clicked. I restored my Titanium backup. No change. I unfroze all the Titantium apps. No changed. I then rebooted, and the phone and contacts icons completely disappeared, as well as my wallpapers and ringtone, to something that my phone couldn't identify. I uninstalled Gravitybox and rebooted. Now the phone no longer connects to the cell phone signal either. I'm sunk, and really need some idea of what to do. Please.......Is there any way of just getting this phone back to some kind of workable order?
Try re-flashing the gapps for your android version. I think Android 4.2.2. And always remember: Make backups. Systembackups with Safestrap for example.

Thanks. I'm on 4.1.2. I have been trying to find instructions and/or a link regarding just reflashing the whole phone to the stock version, but can't find any. Would you know of one? I am a total noob (as evidenced by my thread) - so I am wondering - if I downloaded one of the other systems, like Liquid Smooth or whatever, does that also flash the phone where all the system files are new, or does it build upon the kernel which I appear to have screwed up??
Google should find a flashable Gapps.zip file. If nothing works, look into the firmwares super thread for stock roms or install cyanogenmod.
My mystery is somewhat solved - the upshot being don't leave a rooted phone around a young fella who is just starting to play with computers, as my son has been 'uninstalling' various files on my phone - the effect of which, of course, didn't come into effect until I rebooted, having downloaded Gravity Box. I have been able to find and restore 'People' and 'Phone' through my Titanium back-up. However, my phone is still not seeing my sim - another file that has been uninstalled, I imagine. I would hope that perhaps someone knows the name of the file that allows the phone to see the sim, rather than me having to uninstall all the files. My son says he only uninstalled about 5 files, but does not remember the names. Not a developer in the making!
I also have the problem with the recovery menu, where I cannot boot into it. Would an uninstalled file cause this? I downloaded Clockworkmod recovery, only to be then told that it does not support the Motorola Razr 'Spyder'. Are there any other options? And is the XT912 considered the 'Razr Spyder or is it one of the Droid options?? Thanks for any help you can give.

Accidentally deleted too many system apps

Hello, Thanks for all your help so far in rooting my Padfone X Mini. It's been incredibly useful in removing extra bloat and speeding up my device. Unfortunately I went just too far and deleted an app that I needed. I'm wondering if anyone can supply me with a copy of the APK for the ASUS Splendid app. It looks like the version I was using was 1.1.0.140618. I've tried some of the other downloads I've found of newer versions and they just crash every time I try to do anything. I rather liked the reading mode, but just wasn't paying attention when I got uninstall trigger happy.
Thanks in advance!
Check this post out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62138704
Click on the Dropbox link.
Thanks!
Tried installing it. Even copied it to /system/apps and installed from there. No matter what I do, it always crashes when I try to enable reading mode via the drop down quick settings.

You may just be best off using one of the ROM backups and starting over. I've learned to freeze an app first with titanium and then delete if no problems arise.
Well, I ended up just wiping it, installing a fresh factory ROM (since the stripped version had it missing as well) and re-removing the system app bloatware. I did it a little more carefully this time, using TB to freeze them first to check for problems. This time I'm good to go. Several apps already installed and more than a GB left. Finally this phone is usable.
