You should use the x10 flashtool and flash the 2.1 firmware and start all over

flashed an odin package ??
that happens on simply honey sometimes, going into recovery (GB bootloaders needed - vol down and power) and disabling voodoo fixes it, reboot and leave for 15 min then you can enable voodoo whenever you want

ODIN requires download mode not recovery. Can you access download mode with the buttons?
- If so, then just ODIN. Also, if you can get download mode maybe try to ODIN the GB-bootloader and try the fix above.
Good luck!

3. Insert the battery.
4. Wait a few moments.
Enjoy download mode.
I was having the same issue as the OP, so my question is how do you disable voodoo? Anyone know?

Does the phone boots up fine though?
Recovery access is fine?
Might be just a mechanical issue with the volume rocker. Or, you might want to consider using a usb jig to force it to download mode.
You don't have Advanced Power Menu settings on your custom rom? Do you have download mode available when holding power button in (phone already powered up)?
If not, you can try this "Reboot ++ (Quick Boot)" free on the Market.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.krm.reboot
There are other ways, such as installing custom rom with APM, and flashing a matching CF-root kernel from Chainfire. This will give root, custom recovery, his own CWM manager app (allows rom nan-backups and boot straight into DL mode / recovery etc.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
At least with these methods, there shouldn't be any problem.
If you are trying to enter DL mode from power off, ensure you hold ALL buttons in, and don't release. In this order; volume down + home + power on. Once prompted, release keys and volume up.

ok i found a way to get into download mode
this worked for me
plug into wall charger, hold vol down, then choose power, dont touch the home key
let me know if that works for you
recently soft bricked my new AT&T S2.I have clockwork recovery installed (4.0.0.2), and the only buttons that work are home (goes back to the first menu), volume up/down, and power to hide the menus. I can't select anything at all, it seems like I have the international version of the recovery, not one for the S2.Anyways, I can't get into download mode by holding down the home + Vol up+ power, and Odin can't seem to connect to my phone if it's in clockwork recovery and not download mode.Would the jig work? Or is having no ability to boot into download mode pretty much a killer? I can access my phone through ADB, I just don't know my way around adb as well as I would like.Is there any way to flash a different recovery via ADB? Any other solutions to get my phone up and running again? Because right now it's not booting at all.
EDIT: Managed to get back into the system. It's running the International ROM instead of mine though, so the buttons are wonky. Does anyone know where I can find the ODIN files to flash back to stock AT&T S2?

First off, that's not how you get into download mode. Turn the phone off, hold both VOLUME BUTTONS ONLY, and plug in the USB cable.
With my phone, If I hold down both volume buttons and power on, it goes to clockwork recovery. If I turn the phone on holding the volume up and the home button, it goes to download (now).
I fixed that issue already though, the problem at hand is that I have the i9100 boot and firmware on here, and need the stock Odin files to fix. Can't find the files though. : /

Also available in the Download Repository linked in my signature.
...me too....
WOW DISREGARD - too stupid to realize soft buttons work with CWM recovery. They didn't before...very premature post, my apologies
For the bootloop, I selected Advanced in CWM recovery, and then selected "Fix permissions" then I installed update from SD card. Now it works! Back to being a noob and hating my life.
-----------
I seem to have bricked my phone too...I was using ROM manager to install cm9 update (yeah, I NOW know I should not have used ROM manager). I used ODIN to re-flash cwm recovery enabled kernel. I can go to recovery, but it does not let me select any of the menu options. And when I boot the phone, it still sends me into a bootloop.
One time it did say "signature verification failed" but it doesn't say that anymore, it just doesn't move. I've read around about signature verification issues, but I haven't found anything that gets me anywhere.
I know this is pretty noobish, but I really appreciate any help!
I flashed a kernel on my S3 via recovery and then reboot my phone. It goes to a black screen now. When I pull the battery and power on holding volume down to go into recovery the Samsung Galaxy S3 logo keeps appearing and disappearing until I let go of the volume down key. Then it's stuck at the same black screen. When I try to put the phone in download mode to re-flash via odin it does the same thing. I'm pretty sure I'm fu*ked, but I just want to make sure there's not a way to fix this. Any ideas?

Don't worry..i have done worse things with my phone and yet to brick it..
Fist thing to go into recovery you hold vol up + power + home and not vol down..
Second thing what you will have to do is after the Odin flash..press and hold vol up+power+home..you will boot into the stock recovery..from here do a factory reset but mind you all the data on your internal sdcard will be lost when you do this..now reboot your phone..your phone will boot up properly now..assuming that you have flashed the firmware properly in Odin..

As zoot1 replied to you for download mode press vol down+home+power for a few seconds......for recovery vol up+home+power.........
And make very sure the kernel you flash is compatible with your phone and firmware!!!!!!!!!!!! The rest zoot1 explained in his reply
Good luck

Anyone have an idea what I've done.... Black screen with blue light. I can get to the recovery menu, clockwork is installed, but I can't flash a rom. The only way to get the phone to stay off is by removing the battery.
This is a Cspire L710. I've attempted to flash a Cspire_nandroid_stock zip, the phone will find it but can't open it. I missed a step somewhere I guess. I had it in download mode but made the mistake of trying the factory reset-which changed that.
I've also tried a couple of other roms with the same results.

You might be able to get to download mode via a usb jig.
I'm trying to fix a friend's note(sgh-i717r) and it won't boot into recovery. When pressing the button combo, it just keeps vibrating and when I let go it's stuck on the samsung logo. I can still go into download mode and flash different custom recoveries or firmwares with odin but I can't get past the samsung logo.
I'd really appreciate some advice because my friend can't even use his phone at all until then.
Is your power button getting stuck? ?
This problem is very common ...and the device just loops ...g
I don't think so since I can get into download mode without problems
What button combo are you using? Make sure you let go of the power button after the first vibration and continue to hold volume up and down or it will keep vibrating.
Gubment Cheeze
With the right combo...even a device that is stuck, is not really stuck, as the same combo will boot you to either the recovery, or the DL mode.....
Are you sure that recovery is present ??
You did mention that a flash of recovery was successful, but have you seen it ??....as it may have failed, even though odin says "pass"....g

For download mode I use power + vol down, and recovery I use power + vol up + vol down and after the first vibrate I let go of everything except vol up. I was able to enter into recovery before trying to flash superuser but now it's stuck.

The recovery is there as I used it to try and flash superuser but it gave me an error about an incorrect md5(and I know it shouldn't be giving that problem because I used the superuser file from the stickies that the majority of people had no problems with) so I tried using the latest version of twrp instead of cwm.
Well...
I suggest you go into download mode, and push a factory image to the device via Odin, and start over completely...
It's looking like the device has a bad recovery image, but if DL mode is still there, you are able to save it by a restore.....
Go into the super thread at the top of the general section, and scroll down the first post to the restore area, and you will find the links and instructions to put the device back to stock, and re-root....
At least that way, you know where you started from, and the device will get cleaned out for a fresh try again....g
Anyone got any idea how the hell I can flash stock rom onto my g/fs s2 i9100p without a working volume up button.
it doesn't connect to Kies either (suspect Orange bloatware blocking it.

Up button is for recovery. If you want to flash sammy stock rom you need to use volume down and enter download mode so you can flash via ODIN.

yep volume down for recovery then asks you to press volume up to continue!
Think a usb jig bypasses the up to continue (cant be arsed checking though).

Ah yeah, sorry forgot about that.
In that case your screwed, nothing you can do except get the button fixed.
There is one solution if you have root and that is to install Mobile Odin and start the flash of md5 via that.
depending on what rom, some developers have installed the 4 way menu which will allow you to access download/recovery mode through the power button, you will not need a working volume up button except to navigate up on non touch recoveries.

Good point. He could still navigate but will just need to keep going down until diverted back to top if needed.
There is plenty of apps in the store that can reboot into recovery/download modes like Hot reboot for example.
This is orange stock rom.
According to some websites I can use a command line ADB to push it into recovery even without root.
Going to try tonight when I get home.
tried it at home and works fine.
switch the phone into usb developement mode and then simply use adb to reboot it into recovery/download modde
adb reboot recovery
adb reboot download
