Just want to tell you, yes, I can install any kernel on any roms, but it may cause some problems, especially like the 2.3.5 rom.
I tested, whatever I apply speedmod k1-t22 or ninphetamine 2.0.5 on MIUI 1.8.12, also got a strange problems: the screen will keep jump back to lock screen within 3-5 seconds. The phone also becomes very heat after applied these kernel. Only the original kernel work fine with MIUI 1.8.12. Do you know what is the issue?
Its true that some kernal may not work to well with some roms.the ninphetamine 2.0.5 kernal will heat up as it is over-volted or something like that.the 2.0.2 kernal is more battery friendly and doesnt heat up as much.chainfire is always a good one too cos they stay close to standard but give you root and cwm too

Hey guys, i flashed rdannar's MIUI 2.3.4 ROM,
Its fantastic, i find it faster than J's 2.3.3 when you add th appropriate build.prop tweaks.

However the link in second post he gave us; the wifi fix kernel K010 is not K010, wifi is not working, instead it displays as
2.6.29FreeXperia-b8
[email protected]#1
Wifi is not working. It was fine until i flashed the kernel he gave.
Any ideas, like what other link to K010 that will work on this ROM?
I just don't want to brick my phone if i use wrong kernel like the TripNkernel, it bricked on this ROM.
Issue SOLVED,
kernel here thanks to DOOMLORD.

Flash via Freexperia recovery.
May I ask on advantage of installing a custom kernel? It removes frame cap, but 30 fps is IMO enough and wouldnt it drain the battery faster? Are there any other advantages?
Hey me and friend installed the new TW007.1 on our x10's. Now im still learning how to get around this and all, but it seems like his phone is a little faster than mine, while mine has the lag about it. Difference i found is my kernel is on SEMCUser while his is on zdzihu-mod3.52. How do i got about getting the zdzihu kernel for Tw007.1??
Is it that or should i just root 2.1 on it and install custom rom again? it just seems so laggy my one
Thanks!
By the sounds of it you have flashed tw007.1 stock. Go on and download the one with custom kernel: http://www.mediafire.com/?0h7zy9apc4bxi98
use the 3.52 kernal
This is a question for anyone who has the villainROM 2.4.2 installed which comes with the ninphetamine 2.0.4 kernal.Has anyone else apart from me had heating issuses when the phone is on charge. When charging and on stand-by it hangs around 44°C but im using it now to post this and its at 50°C.On charge its always around the 44 to 48 mark but when i had the the same kernal and stock rom after the XXKG6 flash this never happened.not with this kernal nor the CF-Root kernal neither.has this happened to anyone else?.I dont think that its to healthy for my phone but i really like the rom/kernal mix.
Try asking in the respective thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198334

Cheers.that link was where i downloaded the zip file from, and thats one hell of a welcome video!!!
Hi all,
we used to be able to switch between roms with the same kernal. There are so many roms and kernals I don't know is there a kernal we can use with the latest MiniCm 2.1.7 and stock 2.1?
MiniCM7 need nAa kernel, and we know that nAa is kernel for custom GB rom
for stock 2.1, I just try ZP kernel, and I think kernel for both MiniCM7 and stock is not yet build
Thanks for the info.
Only on rare cases do I need something from the stock ROM and sometimes if things go wrong I might need to go back to that ROM for a moment, but I miss having one kernal for both...it was so easy to switch.
I can't complain though, the dev on the newer roms is just brilliant.
If you try to use ZP kernel with stock 2.1 eclair, you will not be able to use your touch screen. Modules are not same for GB and stock ROM.
Hey guys,
So I've installed Checkrom v6 and it is AMAZING! I've installed a few mods and widgets from the Kitchen which are also awesome.
Just wondering what the point of the different Modems and Kernels in the Kitchen is? What's the advantage of changing your kernel or modem?
Also, my Gallery takes 10-15 seconds to load sometimes. Is this normal? My images are on a class 10 High Speed MicroSD card (Sandisk)...
Cheers!!!
People change the modem, as with some having slightly better performance, while some have a little worse. Depending on the network, the location, etc.
Same way for kernel, because they want better performance.
You have a topic for this rom and everything that interests you, you can ask there.
Thanks mate, so which kernel is best for what then? And which kernel does Checkrom v6 come with as standard? In Settings>About phone, mine says under Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-I9100XWLA4-CL900411

It comes with CF root kernel. For best battery Install Redpill(If you install speedmod youll lose root) and for performance Install siyah

If you are in CheckROM V6... Ill recommend you to try this kernel N.E.A.K 1.4x or download it in the Kitchen Pro App.. But one thing! after you installed the ROM you need to remove the kitchen that comes with, download the kitchen in the market and install that one!
The Kernels are the brain of your smartphone hardware, it controls everything.. Processes, memory, etc.. so its very important to have a good kernel if you want to take the best of your galaxy... but every kernel does not always work the same in every cellphone. That's why you need to try and see how it works for you. I can suggest you two kernels that are the most popular, The Siyah and NEAK.. they are the best for me, i've tested every kernel out and they are the most i like, but the latest version of Siyah (2.6.13) doesnt work good and drain a lot of battery, the new version of NEAK (1.4x) owns in everything so far!
The modem depends on your carrier, rom and kernel. Some versions can be painful for your setup and some can be the best with strong signal, speed and stability. You need to try too, the best for me are the XXKI4 and the XXKL1, both of them are battery friendly and give me good signal quality, speed and stability. You can find it in the Kitchen repository or go to the link in my signature.
The Kitchen do a favor for you and is after you download anything, it installs automatically.
