[Q] Quick question about my battery graph - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just curious, do the blue bars beneath the graph correlate with the time axis above it?
Would I be right in thinking that my battery life plummeted as soon as I turned off wifi?

Yes. Probably more likely to be related to screen on, and possibly mobile data. Depending on the brightness, it seems like 4-6 hours of screen on will eat the battery.

Yes it does correlate.
The thing is you just had WiFi on for some period, but you didn't do much in that specific time, it was just on. But just after you had turned it off some apps or processes kept running and you also used the device.
That graph looks pretty fine to me.
Regards.

That's not true screen by itself will not eat battery so fast , review site did media playback test of SD material and battery lasted little over 9 hours.
Only combination of radio+CPU+display will get you 4 hour mark, that's worst case scenario.

Cool, thanks for the replies. Makes sense now

[Q] Phone wouldn't turn on and significant battery jump (not a battery complaint)

Hi everyone,
This is not a battery life problem. I've read the battery threads and could not find someone with a similar problem.
My problem: I left my phone locked and untouched while I went shower. Afterwards I decided to check my phone but it did not respond. I tried to turn it on but that failed too. The screen stayed black as if it was off. I ended up taking the battery out, putting it back in and turning the phone on.
The phone did turn on but my battery temperature was 45°C and 48%. My battery was 75% before I went shower. I checked the battery status page and here's what it showed. Notice the vertical drop in battery at the end of the graph.

After a few minutes since restarting:
The android os % also has never been this high before. I've also never experienced any battery problems mentioned in other threads. I use my phone quite often so display is always at the top. This is the first problem I've encountered with my SGS2 which had made me quite sad since it's less than 3 weeks old.
Thanks for reading and would really appreciate any input.

Battery Help!

Guys can anyone help me with battery life? I'm running cm7 nightly 9 and I've wiped battery stats. Also reduced friendcaster polling to 1hr after seeing the betterbatterystats screen

Everything looks normal to me, and the wakelock didn't show any program that's drainging the battery bad...The Wifi didn't use that much battery too according to your pic. Display didn't use that much also(17%). So I say it might be your weak 3G/GSM signal that's draining the battery.
Thanks man! anyone else?
I was doing some browsing and downloading for a good 2hours or so before leaving it at 30% for about 8 hours with wifi turned on. Woke up to 3% battery
If that's a 2h period you have a display-on time for those 17%, and the rest of the drain is due to a severe case of the Android OS bug. 25% drain over 8 hours idle is horrible. Sadly, no real solution to it other than just trying around wiping the phone and playing with the configurations. **** percentages in the battery screen and look at actual uptime of the different things.

Suddenly android OS is eating up alot of battery, much more than usual

This dont usually happen. In fact, it only happen once.
All this while, the display always use the most battery life, about 50%
followed by android OS, about 10-15%.
my phone was fully charged before i sleep.
but i woke up with 5% battery left, the battery info says android OS used 60%!!
here is screenshot as proof.
i'm really confused, the phone state is appear to be NOT awake,
but the CPU usage is 1000MHz constantly while i sleep.
all this while i've been using rom tool box CPU slider to underclock it to 1000MHz, so thats the maximum my phone can go. i prefer it that way so its much less warm.
any idea whats causing this? as i mention before, this only happen once.
Even so, i'm very curious about this. any one experience this before? or know whats goin on?

Better Battery Stats thread and partial wake locks is your start point .

my battery strategy

LHere is what im doing to prolong my battery life as much as possible...
I downloaded Juice Defender, i keep that running all of the time. I rooted and got SetCPU, profiles will be in a picture below. I set it up so that as my battery drains so does my speed. I am using a plain black background. and not very colorful widgets or apps. I also froze some bloatware. I am currently at 34%. been going for 9 hours, 32 minutes, and 37 seconds on battery. Listening to music for a few hours, playing Pokemon crystal for hours, email constantly running, and texing. Display was on for 2 Hours so far. I will update when i hit 0%.

You said the display was on for 2 hours right? Well if you've been texting and playing Pokemon for hours that all counts in screen on time doesn't it?
Just go to Amazon and order the two batteries that come with a wall charger. I don't have to do any of that and I'm never tethered to a wall. It was less than $30 for all of it.

yeah but i was doing both at the same time
Still 17% left

Can't get rid of this wakelock

I put the phone into flight mode over night and the drain was a bit less than when on. 15% in 8.5 hours, compared to the 25% with it on.
However, as you can see from the screen shots, something is still causing the phone is "wake up". I've turned off everything in the process of trying to find out what it is, but still cannot find out.
Can someone have a look at the shots and see if ye can pick out something.
I must say that the connectivity issue I'm having(keeps giving me a connected to wifi network notification every few mins) could be causing these wakelocks?? I don't know myself.
Anyways, I'd appreciate any thoughts on how to sort out the wakelocks.

s-voice has a wake up feature turned on by default
Continuously connecting to Wi-Fi is the power saving mode.
You can deactivate it by dialing *#0011#, menu, Wi-Fi.
The only way I found to allow the phone to truly sleep was not to have Wi-Fi on at all. Off when screen off also seems to work.

4.5hrs screen time looks pretty good to me. I'm lucky if I get 4hrs
