[How To] Implement Z-OC into stock ROM - XPERIA X10 Android Development

BEFORE I START: ALL CREDITS TO Z FOR HIS AMAZING WORK AND FOR HIM CHOOSING TO STAY. THANK YOU Z
FOR ADVANCED USERS.
USE ROOT EXPLORER TO COPY AND PASTE OR MOVE THE FILES NEEDED AND SET PERMISSIONS
Hi Guys. I know some of you are probably wanting OC in your ROM and might not want to wait for someone to implement it in there ROM or maybe you don't want to flash a ROM but just want the OC.
Well i am going to tell you how to get Z-OC in your phone. There are some thing you will need to remember and that is that this can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.
PLEASE NOTE: I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE IF YOU TURN YOUR PHONE INTO A PAPER WEIHGT OR TURN IT INTO A BRICK FOR A REPLACEMENT FOR YOUR WALL.
Here is what to do:
You will need the files at the bottom of this post and extract them.
For permissions. O means tick, X means leave unticked.
1. Place the install-recovery.sh file in system/ect/ and set permissions to:
ooo
oxo
oxo
2. Place these 3 files: zdzihu_oc.ko/ar6000.ko/tun.ko in system/lib/modules and set the permissions to:
oox
oxx
oxx
3. Go back to the install-recovery.sh file and select it and then select execute.
4. Reboot and enjoy
PLEASE NOTE: ONLY LOOK AND CHANGE THE CPU SPEED USING CPU MASTER. DO NOT TRY CHANGIING THE CLOCK SPEED WITH OTHER CPU APPS LIKE SET CPU OR YOU WILL LOSE THE 1113MHZ SPEED AND YOU WILL NEED TO GO BACK TO INSTALL-RECOVERY.SH AND EXECUTE AGAIN.

Awesome. Thank u so much

That's what the ar6000.ko is. Don't delete the original as I have not done that and my WiFi is fine. Also I need to add this to the op but everytime you reboot the phone you need to set the CPU again.

What does invoke mean?
EDIT: just searched it and yes still add it just in case you need to. You can always try without it and let me know or just stay on the safe side and add it. If I have time in a bit I will try without it as I think that the ar6000.ko is actually something to do with CM find coz if I remember rightly the CM kernels or gingerbread kernels had the ar6000.ko WiFi module and the 2.2 or 2.1 kernels had a different one but don't quote me on that one

It means OverClock

It is jot necessary to include all the modulus.
Only the oc modulus seems work fine

Correct me if I wrong, but for OC feature you need zdzihu_oc.ko only, others does nothing with OC.

Indeed, i am using terminal and insmod zdzihu_oc.ko and everything is fine...

Can't someone make a zip to flash?
Sent from my X10 using XDA Premium App

If it is the case only the z oc module is need then I will delete others but if I remember rightly the CM roms needed the ar6000.ko file for the WiFi to work and the tun.ko is a module for the CPU speeds to run by. Eg like CPU governer ect..... Correct me if I'm wrong but there must be reason they are there also the install-recovery.sh file has a lot of coding unlike the fps uncap one as where the one I added in this thread has a hell of a lot more also to do with the CPU governer.

I have tried to make an update zip also but if you try flashing this with a ROM with tweaks you will lose all the tweaks like with wolfs ROM. It is best to do it this way so you don't have the risk of something going wrong and also I get the same error with my zip and I used the update zip program to make it which set perms and signed and zips but still no go.

v6 works fine with that bb
Based on my experience, the BB version 1.19.1 works fine with supercharger script. Using it now...
BUT*****
If you try to install the lower version or change the BB version, then it will start complaining cant install, no super user blah blah blah...
Had no choice but to re flash the ROM then just run supercharger without changing the BB.
No ill effects so far....
Try using busybox installer and choose a lower version while installing bb...
I tried installing supercharger script but couldn't notice any change or improvement... I think i have done something wrong...
Can anyone tell me in brief exactly how to install supercharger script (I know using Script Manager) BUt, I want to make it work and know that it is actually working on my device....

Why would you want to do that, you can just restore the backup.
Dont forget the backup holds lots of personal info on it, so you dont want to share it....
Just curious as to why you would want to do this?
The data portion contains sensitive info right??? Not the system.img isn't it
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I wanna make my own Rom and share it with ppl... I've added toggle panel to notification bar, changed animations in framework-res, changed icons in systemui, did some build.prop tweaks, some out-of-memory manager tweaks, took some apps from the arc s firmware, removed some preinstalled apps and added some apps to system partition itself (like browser replaced with opera, titanium backup included in system partition, applied adblocker...) and many other things.... I hope that qualifies me to call it my *own* ROM????

Oh ok,
You need to use sdk and pdk software to make your own roms, I am sure its much easier that way.
Just google them and download
PS, just themeing a custom rom doesnt make it your own, but developing from the stock rom in any way does, especially if it more than just the UI. Circular battery mod and other UI's are easily achieved in UOT, but changing OOM values and build.prop is different, as long as you know the benefits you are making
I've made changes to stock only. Not on anyone else's custom ROM. Yes did make some oom changing scripts. (umm.. Yep I guess I know what changes and what advantages. Lol) also removed some stock-ware added better alternatives like go sms n dialer in place of stock ones.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I have the android sdk. I'll get the pdk... But what after that?? How to make the zip file of the ROM?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Just pull (with adb or root explorer) everything you changed then make a flashable zip of that. No need to post a whole rom, just call it a mod or theme...
Btw I'm not even a proper firmware-tinkerer.. Far from being a dev or anything. I'm just a humble 12th grade student. Still pretty much in my teens.. Lol
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Ok that's a good idea now... Lemme see if I can pinpoint which files I need to pull and which I can do without.... But about the zip thing.... I never really understood the certificate thingy... That meta.inf and all... What is that about??? Basically how to create a flashable zip??
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Same here, I am not a dev, but I teach 12 grade!!!
As far as I know that can be done with apk manager, the update zips I use are generally borrowed from other zips, as I only mod things others have done for myself, or make them in UOT.
Try getting in touch with a dev called DooMLoRD
He is very good and friendly (Also from your neck of the woods) but he is very busy. He helped me out inmy noob days, and I am sure he will help you if he has the time.
Ya he did seem helpful.... I know him of course... Anyone who aspires to overclock their xperia knows him....lol... But ya he is busy usually.... And he's more of a deep dev...tinkering with kernels....not the one to make custom ROMs and all isn't it???
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
So what I can do is take the zip of someone's rom, keep the certificate in it. Remove all other files, add mine into it and voila I'm done???
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I've made a lot of modifications to my stock rom, and would like to share it.... so is system.img a valid way to share my *own* rom or mod ? (valid as in technically feasible? means ppl can d/l it n flash using recovery n use it?)
my main concerns are... will it boot on someone else's device? (i tried it myself... total wipe + clean stock instal, followed by flashing only my backed up system.img, *didn't flash data.img, only system* it took an eternity to boot first time but it ran)
second concern... system.img doesn't have any personal data right? logs, msgs etc are in data partition i guess??

[KERNEL][PLAY][CDMA R800x][Stock 2.3.3 Rom] Stock with Overclock 1.6GHz

What is this:
This is the Verizon Xperia Play R800x Stock Kernel for 2.3.3 WITH OVERCLOCK TO 1.6GHz.
What works:
Absolutely EVERYTHING!
What doesn't work:
You tell me.
Who deserves credit:
KeiranFTW <-- This Guy
and all our other developers which always have helpful info when I google something!
Story:
KeiranFTW made this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400127
but WiFi was broken for R800x.
So I fixed it!
How? Used his kernel with stock ramdisk.
How to use:
1. Download file attached to this post: r800x-stock-overclock.img
2. You must have unlocked bootloader.
3. using fastboot type in the following command:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0fce flash boot r800x-stock-overclock.img
4. This will not erase your data.
5. This has only been tested on R800x with stock 2.3.3.
Note:
The original kernel had recovery added (by pressing back button on boot), this one does not have that recovery.
You can use this recovery instead: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler, after installing press VOLUME DOWN after bot to enter recovery.
RESERVED
Great job! Any chance of getting the recovery back in the kernel tho? Either way, again, great job!
Bravo good sir, bravo, keep up the good work!

It's kinda nice having it in the ramdisk, because then you never have to worry about it (because it works on boot, no matter what )

I see, that makes sense ... If you flash a custom ROM and it goes wrong you'll have to get back to a PC to fix it if you don't have recovery in the kernel.

For learning purposes I will go in there and figure out what they change to get recovery on the kernel ... If I can add just that to the ramdisk then it shouldn't break WiFi.

Well, yeah. If the /system directory is wiped you essentially wipe the recovery.img that the app installs, whereas the recovery would still be available (when inside the kernel) provided the boot partition is still there

[MOD] 1.8GHz+ overclock module for HTC DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE

I followed Haus's Guide to port the .ko module created by coolbho3000 to create a usable krait_oc.ko module for our devices and make a flashable .zip packaged with init.d support and the overclock files needed and the script to accompany the install.
Install the .zip package with TWRP
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BUSYBOX INSTALLED!!!!!
I am sure this can be made automatic in a custom rom upon each reboot.
EDIT:
The original post was updated to include init.d scripts
Updated OP with .zip file install method. Simply install busybox and install the mod!
Been running this on TSM UltimateKangBang for 24 hours overclocked at 1458MHz. Works great! Thanks! :good:
Using it also... Works great...

let me find a post i made in one xl forum i have this wrapped up in a init.d script
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694562
here is the script itself you will have to download the .zip attached to my OP but i have completed this for a different device with the same module (but tailored for our device)
replace the module with the one from your original post and it should work no problem on boot
Is this safe and relevant to the state of our phone after updates and all? Just wondering since its from July and I see no one taking about using it

You can use this with an older Rom that isn't based off the recent update iirc (like viper 1.0)
What exactly does this do? How do I install/use it?
This will allow me to overclock using an app like setCPU?
I tried it and I am unable to overclock using setCPU.

I would suggest you to try compiling the cm kernel for your phone whitout changes. (cm wiki)
After you succeed compiling the kernel, test if it is working.
Now you have a base you could start working on.
Next step could be to change something. (frequencies for the p500 have to be changed here: arch/arm/mach-msm/acpuclock.c)
