Resetting battery stats - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanted to make sure that clearing the bat stats via terminal still worked with the new versions(ed05). I have always done it this way and I want to make sure none of the commands/locations have changed and I'm still ok doing it this way.
Heres the commands
su
/system/bin/sh
cd /system/bin./
rm /data/system/batterystats.bin
sleep
5 reboot
Thanks

Yes, or there is an app on the market (BatteryCalibration) that does this for you.

(If Z, T or J has any objections I'll take it down)
Trouble shooting same as with Z's Froyo ROM
If you don't have radio (network) or your home is just restarting after 1st boot, please open ADB shell and issue this command:
Code:
killall servicemanager
No wifi connect: Add static IP address or do in adb:
Code:
setprop net.dns1 192.168.1.1
If you don't have root access, please open ADB shell and issue this command:
chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
P.S I hope I don't step on somebodys toes
I'll try to follow TripNRaVeRs progress..
Excellent idea, is the CPU scaling set to 'on demand' or do I need to use setcpu to preserve my battery (the original from J/Z was not set to on demand)
Thanks
I must say runs nice,,,,thou still got market FC and no memory card...
But Top Job
@roRt it's on performance

Market fix
1.: Take Root Explorer and Delete everything IN the folder "Data/Data/com.android.vending" & "com.android.vending.updater"
(not the folders.. but ALL the stuff they contain)
2.: Download the Vending.apk from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10259539&postcount=5874 and save it on your SD Card,
then Take the Root Explorer, and replace the "System/app/vending.apk" with the new one, you have downloaded. Then long press the Vending.apk > Permissions and set them for write, execute etc...
Then Restart the Phone.
It worked for me.

Just to confirm: is this step still necessary for v024?
Right now I'm with the 2.1 v006 version from J.
Which is the original ROM thread that is being referred to in here?
Could you suggest me on the Installation Procedures? I have the X10 Custom ROM AOSP 2.1 installed currently using XRecovery. How should I be proceeding after this.
I'm using your custom install with xrecovery and I'm getting 100% market F/C
Even tried the method above. Didn't work for me at all

I tried the above and it works. I just had to set the permitions for the new vending.apk as the others apps on the same folder manually using root explorer, but it worked after I rebooted.
Yeah, that would be nice!

youtube stopped working

Very suddenly youtube stopped working on my NC, tried to use astro to uninstall but no joy. The app just shutdown when it goes to launch; any info on a fix is appreciated.
This solution was posted by Bimboy in these forums. My youtube tends to go wacky every once in awhile and this fix works every time.
From the Market, download Titanium Backup (Free in the Market)... You may already have it installed, if so, skip this part.
Open up Titanium Backup, it will likely ask for Superuser permissions. Grant it.
If you get a Busybox error, install Busybox from the Market.
Click on the second tab at the top of Titanium, named 'Backup/Restore', and let it populate all of your apps
Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap the YouTube app
You'll get a dialog box. Click on the 'Wipe Data' button
Just close Titanium Backup, and you're done. YouTube will work, now that you cleared your user data.
Thank you for the info, i appreciate you taking the time to spell it out for me.
The other thing that made YouTube stop working for me was that I added my account in the YouTube app, which was the same one I used to register my NC. Apparently this seems to be an issue. I cleared the data and I am back working again, but I am not going to enter My Channel again.
I used mini info to wipe data... just wanted to add that in case anyone wanted an alternative
I have also noticed that I have to do the TB "wipe data" fix every time the phone boots up. This has been annoying with the random reboots that happen with the NC. Hope there is a permanent fix for this soon.
Does anyone know if there is a way to write a script that could execute this upon every boot?

Not sure about a script, but "Tasker" should be able to do that for you (from the Market). I don't have this issue, but that would be a pain to deal with as many times as I reboot my NC during the day for testing.
I poached the "fix" portion of the script here to fix youtube... It seemed to work fine. In short, I did this:
Code:
adb shell mount -o rw,remount -t ext2 /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 /system
adb shell busybox rm /data/data/com.google.android.youtube -r
adb reboot
Hope this helps.

I've asked on a separate thread as well...what if i've deleted youtube. I don't see it in the market which doesn't make much sense that i wouldn't be seeing a general app there.... but how do i dnld it again? Hope i don't have to re root the NC.
i've tried to care about you tube. really.
but i can't.
good luck
you tube is in the market and the .apk is posted here a million times. should be pretty easy to find.
i just wipe the data and start over

[App]One Click Unroot[WIP]

I am proud to present you with: Nook Tablet Unrooter One click APP!
By Indirect
Information?: Well, the way to best unroot the nook tablet (as it's easy to see if you have done mods to it) is to do a factory system restore, so I decided why not exploit that and make it into an application? Well that's exactly what I did and best of all, it's 1 click (technically 3 but i don't count accepting SU permissions as part of the app). You need to grant SU both times it asks for it to automatically reboot.
Code:
//I take no responsibility what happens with this application or your device and assume that any problem during this process if user fault.
//
Download link?:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15069134/Nookunrooter.apk
Instructions?:
Install app, open, click button, grant SU permissions (twice), and let it restore. That's about it.
Warnings?:
You WILL lose ALL data on the tablet except the Sdcard. Be sure to back everything up using titanium backup.
Changelog?:
Code:
1.2: Initial release
Credits?:
Code:
Dodgejcr for his code on github so I just had to change a few things as well as his help in IRC. Thanks man
Myself for rewriting parts of the app to be a one click unroot for the nook tablet
Added the download link meaning it's live! I tested on my device and it worked flawlessly!
Reserved as well
Thanks for this, I have it downloaded as a just in case. Seems much simpler than the 8 or 10 failed boot techniques.
Dumb question, but I am assuming this has been tested on an actual NT?

Yeah, tested it on mine last night before release.
This does indeed work although it didn't reboot my Nook Tablet automatically. After I clicked on Unroot Device, it didn't automatically reboot. I tried rebooting it myself and then it began the process of restoring to factory. When it booted back it it was indeed unrooted. Or at least I think it is.
Is there anyway to verify that is truly is unrooted?

Get terminal emulator apk and then type su
if you get permission denied, it's unrooted. I know it's unrooted since I had to re-root.
Edit: The developer and I are working on it.

We are in the 10 days christmas sale for android market. There are a selection of apps each day that are 10 cents each. If you haven't seen that, make sure you take advantage of it. Someone already made a thread about it, but it sounds like you haven't seen it yet.

reverse back to factory stock without a hitch. Got all my paid content back after clicking on them one by one. Good deal.
Just curious though, will registering the same device multiple times raise a red flag with BN?
I press unroot and it just sits there. It does not reboot. I manually shutdown and startup and it does not run the wipe. Any suggestions to full unroot and wipe.
Bmeyer, run adb shell then type
Code:
su
echo -n 0000 /bootdata/BootCnt
reboot

[SCRIPT][ZIP] Free ~30 Mb on /system partition on Jelly Bean /w Google Now

Attached is an updater script zip to flash via recovery. It does not install anything, but rather only delete files. It will free ~30 Mb on your /system partition, while keeping full functionality!
How it works / What it does?
While I was playing with Google Now, I noticed that there exist some (big) files that are actually not needed. These files are used for a new feature in Jellybean - the offline message dictation. However, since most services connected with Google Now require a network connection anyway, you should be fine with removing this functionality.
Overall, deleting the "offline dictation"-specific files will free 30.53 Mb on your system partition! Without any other offside than the fact that you require a network connection for Google Now Voice input. Again: as long as you are connected to a network, you won't notice any difference - everything will just work as before!
Alternatively to the zip, you can - of course - delete the files manually. Therefor, use:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rm -rf /system/usr/srec/config
adb shell rm /system/usr/srec/en-US/acoustic_model
adb shell rm /system/usr/srec/en-US/clg
adb shell rm /system/usr/srec/en-US/g2p_fst
adb shell rm /system/usr/srec/en-US/offensive_word_normalizer
adb shell rm /system/usr/srec/en-US/rescoring_lm
brilliant..
Works excellently, thanks....Ive been racking my brain as to how I can keep Dalvik on internal and still have Google Now. This should do it!
Thanks for that!
It would be good if you could include an option to install GNow with or without the offline dictation on your gapps aroma installer.

Due to some APK updates I will update the installer package anyway - and I will include that option, too.
Does this need to be flashed immediately after a fresh install? I've been using Evervolv's JB for a few days and was hoping I wouldn't have to start fr scratch.

This can be flashed any time. However, it will only free space if you have installed Google Now in addition to the ROM.

Nope. The JB system itself is still too big for stock hboot.

What do you want to tell us? That it works?
why not just remove /system/usr/srec/en-US/ and leave /system/usr/srec/config then at least you can re-download it which then installs to /data
Tried to move it to sd-ext a creating a link for /system/usr/srec/en-US to /sd-ext/us-EN...
Dunno if it works, but it could 20 megs on system partition is worth trying...
Thanks...

Do I flash 260/8/168 hboot, flash rom (final one) then this, and then resize hboot and wipe data?

I cannot get adb in root working, should be adb shell adb root or su.

Don't get rid of jawbone.. People are known to have problems.
Plus I will make a video later for you.
Same problem, KingRoot installs "KRhelper4PC" or (something like that) to my watch but there's nothing to open. ADB is definitely allowed on the watch, it asked for permission to connect to my computer and I set it to "always connect to this device". ADB shell lets me do some basic file exploring on the watch, but su doesn't work.
Are you guys on the latest update. I haven't updated my device yet to see if it works still.
