I am currently running Cyanogen Mod 6.5.7 with franco kernel v18. I use a widget button on my notification bar to enable/disable APN. It always used to get activated upon clicking the button until yesterday. I had put the phone in sleep mode(locked) for some 4 hrs with edge turned off. Then when I tried to activate it, it simply refused to turn on. i thought there was some prob. with the network operator but when I rebooted the phone it instantly got activated. Any ideas why this issue arises but gets resolved on reboot?
(note- I have also noticed this issue while i was using stock ROM but it's very rare in cyanogen mod).
Also can anybody tell me how to delete nandroid backups on my phone. (Reason- I have 2). I want to delete them and have new backups.
All nandroid backups are stored in nandroid folder in sd card(for amonra recovery).Iust choose which one to delete.

Im on my way to flash Axura 2.2.5.7 on my rooted vibrant . I titanium backed up all my system data and all apps using ‘back up all apps + system data’ feature of titanium. I, then, downloaded Rom Manager *free version… and flashed clockworkmod recovery…then rebooted into recovery and made a nandroid back.
I have now downloaded ODIN 3 v 1.70 on my computer.
I have been reading various guides (including vibrant wiki and bible) on how to root and flash roms.
Since I did ‘flash clockworkmod recovery’ yesterday..do I need to do it again?
Can any one direct me to a step by step process on flashing the Axura Rom.
I guess it’s the fear of the unknown while flashing for the very first time.
Thanks
EDIT: I have copied the titanium folder from internal memory to my pc just in case. I also would like to make a back up of rom manager (nandroid backup or whatever it is caleld) onto my computer... How do I do that? I wasn't ablt to locate the folder.

The only other thing you need to do, is put the Axura2257.zip (Or whatever it's name is) on the INTERNAL memory card & flash via clockwork Mod or Rom Manager
sorry..a noob here and it might be a stupid question: Can I also use ODIN to flash the rom? I feel I would be more comfortable working through ODIN.

Im telling you!, its less the hassle and way easier to do it through Clockwork Mod

Just make sure you have two files on your 16g internal memory - Update.zip and the Axura.zip(can be named anything other than Update.zip for obvious reasons) file.
Reboot the phone into recovery. If it's blue then hit reinstall packages until it turns green with more options. This may take two times so don't freak if it's still blue after the first, just do it again.
Once in the green recovery go to install file from SD and select the Axura.zip file. Agree to everything and let it run it's course. Once done hit reboot now and enjoy.
thanks guys. just flashed Axura 2.2.5.7 ROM without any hiccups for the first time
Now need to restore apps and settings
Now one more question: What is voodoo and what is the benefit of enabling it on Axura 2.2.5.7?

Woah.. Were you on Android 2.1? Don't restore settings if you were.
Voodoo just converts to EXT4 (Which is faster)
Yes i was on 2.1. I read your post after i had started restoring all apps and data. i turned off my phone when i read this post. how can i get my data stored if not settings?

You can't to my knowlege... 2.1 & 2.2 are very different, and if you restore the settings & apps then there are going to be allot of problems.. I would just reflash it and manually setup the settings this time, and then backup everything up for the next ROM you choose..
that sucks. I have alot of apps (around 70/80). I had customized settings on them. Its sad not being able to restore those apps and their settings. I can do with system settings.
But overall thanks alot for a great phone experiences. its extremely snappy now and im loving my phone again hehe...
Two things from my experience.
1. You should be able to restore all your apps you backed up in Titanium Backup as it seems to be able to tell what apps won't work with Froyo. You'll see them with a line through them in Titanium. Just restore missing apps with data using the batch feature. Do not restore the one with + all system data.
Then go to Backup/Restore at the top and scroll down to green [SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage and click that and restore it too (this is your text messages). You must restart your phone now for it all to take effect.
2. After you complete #1 - Hit up the market for Voodoo Toggle Reboot app (free). Once it's open you can Enable/Disable Voodoo with it. Click it if it's not green and then hit Reboot Now to activate it. You'll hear Linda talking to you while voodoo installs which may take a bit so don't worry.
Voodoo changes the file system to ext4 which is way faster and very stable. Your phone will fly with it.
You will have to setup new settings for everything else this time, but if you use Launcher Pro you'll be able to backup your desktop settings for next time. Once you get everything the way you like it, backup with Launcher Pro and then with Titanium Backup for next time.
Make sure you don't flash anything else through clockwork with voodoo active unless the Dev says it's ok to do so. An example would be when Axura 2.2.5.8 comes out it'll probably be ok to flash without messing with voodoo (crosses fingers).
Hello.
When I got my new vibrant a few weeks ago, I put on nero 3 and it was blazing fast. Then I put on Nero 4 and it looked like it slowed down for some reason, then I put on another rom and it seems even slower
I just kept reflashing via clockwork recovery, without deleting the previous roms first, I just overwrited....
Someone told me to do ODIN to stock before putting another rom on your phone....well I dont know how to do ODIN to go back to 2.1.....and also if I do ODIN then I will lose unlock right?
Any help?
Ok,first backup all your contacts n payer appear if you have any, then reboot ur phone into recovery.
Use the volume rocker to scroll up n down and if you are in the red menu select voodoo lagfix with the power button then follow the menu to disable it then select go back, then install zip from sd card then scroll down and check on downloads, if you downloaded your toms to the sd the zip file. Should. Be there.
B4 reinstall delete all data and cache select go back to do this then select install zip from sd to go back n scroll down to downloads n select your rom zip then select yes n you should be done.
Now be patient let it boot n give it like15 minutes. Then reboot again to fix bugs then wait again b4 you use it otherwise it will be buggy again

Sorry, it just bothered me. Backup all of your apps. Not just the ones you paid for.
Have you checked to make sure that Voodoo was enabled? I believe there's an app in the Market called Voodoo Toggle that can help.
Also, if your phone is running slowly, there are a couple things you can try before flashing a whole new ROM. Check to see if there are any frozen services slowing up your phone. Go into Settings > Applications > Running Services and see if anything is stuck on "Restarting..." If it is, tap to stop the process and you may even want to consider freezing the service in Titanium Backup if this happens often. Another thing to do is fix permissions in ROM Manager. You will need to do one of the fixes in this thread before you run Fix Permissions. I recommend the one in post 3 because it's easiest. I do both these things when my phone slows up drastically, and it's worked every time.
You may also wish to trying clearing cache and dalvik-cache from the Recovery menu.
I have a Mac and have never been able to ODIN back to stock between flashes. My phone is still very snappy and doesn't really give me any problems.
I had Lidroid 2.4 before and that gave me CWM lidroid version
I reflashed to stock JFD, flashed stock 2.3 JVH from ODIN then flashed Tweaky on top of it
Someone all my 3rd party apps turned grey after I rebooted Tweaky. I installed them, I stayed in android, they are fine but as soon as I restarted the phone, all icons turned grey and say "app not installed" when I tried to launch.
The update.zip in my SD is a clockwork 2.0, if I chose to flash it in CWM lidroid, it does give me pure CWM 2.0 back but it doesn't stay permanent. As soon as I restarted, CWM lidroid is back.
Help! I really need some help.
[SOLVED]I had Lidroid original 2.4 flashed via ODIN.
I nandroid backed up from CWM 3 and update.zip for this lidroid 2.5
CWM could never generate an MD5 checksum file for me but before, it could generate the MD5 myself and it still worked.
This time, the flash didn't go well so I decided to restore before reflashing again later.
All apps are there but no app data, no sms, no contacts appeared. Even my home screens are changed to default arragements, with all default widget, nothing similar to what I had. Games are not executable anymore: some games forced close and some just flashed my screen before getting back to app drawer.
I tried unyaffs my nandroid data.img and I can tell that nandroid did not backup my data/com...telephony/mmssms.db
Why did this happen to me? It's very strange. my friend's captivate works flawlessly!
I'm really confused at the moment and I really need my contacts and sms. games can be re-played but those are not "replayable".
Thanks[SOLVED]
Suggestion, make a back up also on the ext sd card and make a backup copy on your computer, this always prevents events like this. You can open your int sd card and copy the whole thing into a folder on the computer.
As far as why nandroid did not work, not sure never had a failure with it. My guess you did not verify that is worked or had all information you wanted backed up.
At least it is not bricked
good luck getting everything reloaded.

there is no ext sd in fact. And normally I use SMS backup and restore, but I thought nandroid can be even better so ...
I know that this is not a normal nandroid behaviour. with my G1, Milestone before, I just nandroid backed up and then restored, everything would be back to normal, even saved game plays.
But this time is really frustrating.
It's not even my phone, that's the problem. If it's an unexpected error, I would just accept it but when it comes to girls ... you know ...
Such a nice start for sunday. Thanks anyway.
I just updated OP and title as the question is now changed.
So I tried to restore my phone multiple times from two different recoveries and every time it stops during it and the screen goes black and the only way to turn my phone on is to pull the battery. Everything but the .android-secure restores and I now have about 200 hundred apps that aren't installed on my phone and I don't want to have to go through all that again, the apps still show as installed on my phone, but the the data on my SD card is missing, does anyone know how I can get this back?
Did you actually wipe your.android_secure folder?
Sent.
No, I never wiped it. After I restored my phone it was empty
Did you ever try to move 200?? apps to sd?
Sent.
Yes all the apps were on my SD card already. But they were moved over one by one so it wasn't a major hassle. I tried doing it through TWRP now and it won't restore at all anything that is.

Is your Sdcard partitioned, and, if so, are you running a ROM that supports A2SD?
Sent.
No I never did a superwipe or anything of the sort, I didn't have any Titanium Backups either, never planned on flashing a new ROM, still haven't. The backup was through CWM the newest update 4.0.1.5 I tried restoring through that and the Revolutionary 4.0.1.4, neither worked. I moved all the recovery files over to TWRPs backup location and they none of the partitions would restore. My SD is not partitioned and I'm on a rooted stock ROM. I'm only talking about regular App2SD apps that are supported by Android, like Angry Birds and Google Earth.

Those go straight to your secure folder. I don't ever use CWM, as a rule, but it seems that somehow your CWM Nandroid didn't include that folder...I don't know how it got wiped, but my guess is that whatever rom you flashed included a Superwipe script, which would've wiped that folder. (another thing I don't use-Superwipe) If you go in with root explorer or whatever file manager, you can manually verify that a) your secure folder is empty (which it sounds like you've done), and also check under your /clockworkmod recovery folders to see if you actually have a backup for the secure folder.
If it's not there, then, unfortunately it's lost.. You can get the apps back from the market, though.. PM me if you have any 'hard to come by' apps you might need that don't show up on the market.
Good luck.

Then the same version of cwm should restore it. Get in touch with Koush from teamdouche/cyanogenmod, the creator of CWM if you're having issues.

OK so what recovery did you make the backup? I don't think TWRP backup work in CWM. Also, you don't even NEED to restore the .img you're talking about. You can restore boot, system, data, and it should boot. If you need your apps back, download them. Then back them up with titanium backup. Koushik can be found in #cyanogenmod-dev on freenode, but I don't think you need to bug him. It sounds like your phone boots right? If you need more help come into our d3rp thread, linked in my sig.
Thanks, yeah I decided to just reset my phone anyway, to fix the black screen of death and everything. Just sucks I can't remember what all my apps were and I'm like a hundred short now
Hi,
I'm sorry if I'm asking something that has been asked a thousand times before, but I can't seem to find a satisfying answer..
At this moment my S3 is running on standard Samsung firmware that I have rooted with Samsung GS3 ToolKit v3.0.
I think I read somewhere that it is advisable to make a backup of some certain parts of your phone, copy the ROM to your phone (I want to install CM9) and reboot your phone with the button combination (home, vol up, pwr) to get it in CWM mode(?).. Then you have to erase something, I think.. and choose the .zip that you've copied to the phone.
Now the next thing that I can't quite figure out, what will happen to all my settings? Like the Wi-Fi networks from friends that I have saved and conversations in Whatsapp.. Will I lose all of that? Or is there a way to save that (with Titanium Backup? although I'm not quite sure what to choose there..)
Can someone tell me if I'm somewhat in the right direction? Or maybe tell me what forum post I should take a look at to get all of this figured out..
Thanks!!

If you have an International S3 and NOT a US model just:
- Download and install the latest CF Root by Chainfire with Odin v3 3.0.4 (you now have root + busybox + cwm)
- Make a nandroid backup in cwm
- Download the latest CM9 nightly + gapps
- Copy them to you internal memory card
- Go into recovery and wipe cache/dalvik cache, data/factory reset and format system in mounts and storage
- Flash the nightly and straight after that gapps
- Fix permissions and then Reboot.
You can generally backup and restore any apps you installed via Titanium. No sytsem apps though, they are known to have issues.
Then use "sms backup+" to safely store your Sms and call log on Gmail.
Make sure you ticked Sync settings for Contacs in your Google account and also ticked to backup your phone data to Google (that will backup your wifi passwords too)
Use an app to backup efs or do it manually through Shell.
Now, download Cm9 + Gapps and optionally eg Siyahkernel, put them in an easily accessible folder on your storage (i call it Ainstall since it will be in the top of the directory listing)
If you're on an older baseband (radio), get DXLF3 modem too.
Reboot in CWM and install cm9 - (siyah) - gapps in that order.
Without leaving recovery, factory-reset your phone. Reboot and enjoy.
Restore your data with the same apps you used for backup (obviously). Again, do not attempt to restore system apps.
