Ok.. Now here is what happened...
I have been using the Mike OS 6.5.7 (V 2.3.4) for a while, was pretty happy with the stuff! Later, just to try a different ROM, i installed the openOptimus build 2.201.1. After installing, i found out that there was some issue with the so called baseband; Basically, the baseband had to be changed to V20.
With a bit of a help from the openOptimus build 2.201.1 thread, i did a baseband change! It did start working but with a few nitches. So i went back to Mike OS, and there it was! A BASEBAND MISMATCH.
So to rectify this issue, i went to this forum ([HOWTO] Flashing baseband (radio) via LGMDP.exe - xda-developers) and downloaded the V10 baseband, and followed the steps. But my phone never recognized the port! And so im stuck with open optimus now.
Im sure i missed something in between the installs. Can anybody tell me what exactly would have happened here and how this could be rectified?
(Cant wait for the new ROM from Andy.... Dont wanna mess my phone up before trying that )
Cheers

For the zillionth time - mik's ROMs are old baseband ONLY! With the patch, data does NOT work.
People, search and at least read the darned ROM instructions, this pointless noise here is annoying like hell.

Missy:
- there is NO mik baseband. There are LG v10 and v20 basebands.
- The only thing from mik related to baseband are patched ril libs for CM7 that tried to make the new baseband working on CM7 and failed, since it cannot read the operator information from SIM card. Therefore, no APNs and no 2G/3G.
- There is an extensive howto I have written with instructions. I have also explained in detail which baseband is for which ROM.
Read the darned howto and stop asking the same thing over and over again. If you do not understand, stay with stock ROM.

Ok, I'm in a real fix here. I have an LG Optimus One P500, with rooted stock Gingerbread (2.3.3), and a .35 baseband.
I used this guide to try to switch to the old baseband (.32) because most of the ROMs that have been developed support that baseband.
In the guide, I followed the instructions, and the software automatically created an .NV2 backup file. However, when it came to RESTORING that file, I got an error, saying failed. Now in the guide, they said this was curable, as long as I disabled the LGE Virtual Modem, which I did. At the time, my phone was in Emergency Mode (Yellow screen with text "Emergency Mode! ). Here's where (I think) I went wrong:
I disabled the Virtual Modem, and then pulled out the battery from my phone and rebooted, I tried running the Program again, but got the same error. I tried rebooting my PC and trying again, again same error. I also tried going into Emergency Mode and trying again, this time it said NV backup not found. I tried backing up a recovery image I had made with ClockwordMods Recovery. I got back the recovery, but still no GSM.
Please help me, I have no bluetooth, no FM radio, and most importantly NO GSM
Flash a .32 kernel based rom.. everything should be fine.

Actually I'm quite sure that won't work... Because I can't get GSM radio even on stock GB. Also, I don't have an IMEI.. Although, you might be right, so I'll try and get back to you soon.

Sweet. I now see that you hadn't tried an old baseband rom. So flashing ComicXperia (which is an old baseband rom) works. It proves that you have successfully reverted to the old baseband. But at the post above me: .32 is the kernel, it is different from the baseband.
32 base and?
Don't make me laugh..
.32 is kernel and has nothing to do with baseband!

Questions like: what kernel, what baseband, got drunk and bricked my phone.... HERE
OK, first q: can someone post Neocore results on F1 and 06.12 franco`s kernel?
Baseband question: i'm on the new baseband (was on stock 2.3, then flashed to openoptimus). I really like the look of some of these .32 kernels and roms but everything says its for old baseband.
Can i go back to the old baseband? Is there a thread somewhere? Is it safe? From my own investigation, it looks to me like I don't go back to the old baseband, but rather flash some patch to make the roms work anyway. Sound right?

It won't be OK. If your phone uses the "new" baseband, ROMs made for the "old" baseband will work on your phone (as in flashing will be successful, the phone boots etc.) and everything works except for the most important thing in a phone: the GSM/UMTS module. Which means you won't be able to connect to your mobile network and won't be able to make and receive calls. Bummer. Now, there's a patch that solves this BUT something will still be missing: mobile data. You will be able to make and receive phone calls, but you won't be able to connect to the internet using the mobile data connection (only WiFi).
So, if you want to use a ROM that clearly states it's made for the old baseband, old baseband is what you must have on your phone in order for both calls and internet to work. How to tell which baseband do you have right now it's a different discussion and we'll get there if necessary. I just detailed vlt86's answer for you to understand.
EDIT: I see you already know what baseband you have - the new one. Follow voyager20021's link in order to find out how to return to the old one.

There is a easier way for new base band users just flash mik's baseband patch

I tried flashing mik's patch on F1 and GSM did not work; only IMEI was read, but no access to SIM card. Is mik patch only for A serie (0.32 kernel) ?
thanks

Hi there
I think the reason why I do not see a network or SIM card is because the baseband is empty as well as the IMEI.
I installed ICS Dynamite 4.0 and I assume that maybe the missing baseband is the reason.
I am Germany right now, does it matter what baseband I am going to use?
Interestingly when I flash back a working Cyanogen 7 rom a baseband is back.
Any tips?

which cm7 build did you flash?

Are you on the old baseband?
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
being in germany or any other part of the world really shouldnt matter about baseband....v10 is old baseband, if you rooted a stock phone, than yes your on old baseband or so I was when I first got this phone....In order to get v20, you need to use LGDMP v1.5, search for Doktonor's thread on flashing with LGDMP....it's not that hard really, and applies to any v20 series (a,b,c,etc)...all you do is extract the 7z file format, open LGDMP, you'll have 4 files total in this extracted folder.....I cant remember to the T on the whole process but the thread by doktonor is with pictures and well be able to help you out....if your having a problem with mobile data and dont want to risk switching basebands, than look out for aspee's baseband fix or a funny sim fix....it's best to go ahead and flash new baseband, it's easy though....as far as your phone not showing IMEI, that's common on some CM7 based roms, even neko95's Moto Razr-UI v7 rom shows no baseband on my phone, not exactly sure why it does that but I am on new baseband (obviously, since mobile data works)
So i have some experience with these things (flashing and whatnot) with several phones already (htc hero, legend, desire, desire hd, motorola milestone, iconia a500, etc), so i dont get what could be wrong.
So i have this lg optimus one.
Gave it root with z4root method.
Got rom manager installed, flashed the recovery, and rebooted into the recovery.
I formated the sdcard from recovery, entered usb mode, copied several cfw (mostly gb roms) along with some kernels.
I flased my first rom on this phone, and i think it was optimus v3 (or something like that), rebooted, then i got FC, "process com.android.settings has stopped unexpectedly". So im thinking now ... "hmmm .. the kernel must not be the right one". So i search a little and see that there are 2 kernel types, v35 and v32.
So i start flashing another kernel, reboot, but still get the same thing.
So i then start flashing another cfw, but still the same thing.
I flashed several cfw and about 4 kernels by now.
What im i not doing right !?
Where should i check ?
Maybe ur not on the right baseband If u were on Gingerbread when rooting then ur on new baseband but if u were on Froyo then u were on old baseband so check for a ROM with the proper basebabd and try

Yes u can..but I'd recommend u to try a ROM which is for old baseband (or for both old and new) and see if it has any problems.if its working perfectly then its the baseband problem.
Try this rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1463495
there's a seperate download link for old baseband
Orelse try this to update the baseband:

There's a quick tutorial on how to update the baseband in the ROM link also I provided...please read the whole post carefully and do it
I haven't tried the above mentioned links.
