Hi,
I've been looking everywhere, and I can't believe that no-one has made a stock ROM yet. I backed up my stock partitions using the cat method mentioned in lakehousetech's backup, root & recovery thread.
Unfortunately, I'm unable to extract or repack my system.img file. I'm looking for a stock ROM with all languages (WWE) or at least European languages such as Danish.
Here's my system.img. Maybe someone's able to extract it.

I'm currently developing a custom rom based on Eu stock rom froyo 2.2
I have a working update.zip with almost all tweaks from CleanViewpad v1.1 by googlehome
When i have enough posts to post links i will create a new topic with my v1.0 for others who would like to try it.

That sounds awesome! But will you also please make a complete stock ROM without tweaks, root etc.? That would be great!
Sorry, can't help you with that. Earliest backup i have of Stock firmware is already rooted.
I'd super appreciate it, if you shared that backup

I'm currently using the ewjet Rom with custom kernel which is really good. I miss/need the stock 2.1 (b.0.1?) Keyboard, browser and launcher system apks as i don't really like the ones that come with ewjet.
I'm currently away from my pc for a week and don't have any means of flashing the original 2.1b firmware to try and copy the apps. I'm not even sure if I have to use that specific firmware or would any other 2.1 apk work? I have actually googled all 3 apks but none work :-( is anyone able to help by attaching them or know what I can do. ThAnks

That's why it is important to back up before flashing onto a new ROM. Anyways here it is..
If I'm right, text input is the default android keyboard..
First of all, this is the thread I'm referring to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233328
Am posting here because I don't have enough posts to reply to the thread. Really doesn't make sense that the forum requires 10 posts before I can reply there.
I'm really confused with all the links on the OP. The instructions aren't clear enough for a noob like me. Would appreciate any help here.
Basically I want the fastest/smoothest experience, so no TW for sure, and OC if possible. Am not really sure what deodex does for me so not sure if I need deodex or broodcomb...
So correct me if I'm wrong here.. Never done this before so I'm just picturing it in my head(getting my tab tomorrow so just wanna make sure I get things right) this is how I should do it..
1. I will need to download this and install through odin no matter what... Hmm what does CSC: CPW and XEU mean anyway?
Stock Rom [ODIN] special for XDA Members only ( CSC: CPW and XEU )
2. This is where I get lost. Do I choose between these 3? If yes, what's the differences between them? And where's broodcomb?
CWM KH7ROOT
Stock Deodexed Rom special for XDA Members only
CWM Rom by mabalito
3. Install the non tw update/ themes/etc..
4. where in all these do I fit in the installing of pershoot's kernel? Can OC be done only with pershoot kernel? Does 3G work with pershoot's kernel?
I appreciate any help you can give me. perhaps someone can do me a favour and post this up in the thread so that others can answer it.
Thanks
Ryan
any kind soul out there? I just need someone to help me copy paste my post over to the thread so that others can answer it.
I'm running the stock KH7 rom and it's much better then the KG9 that i had before.
As far as i know, there is no rom for p7500 that doesn't have Touchwiz. In that thread there is just a theme that looks like vanilla Honeycomb, so it doesn't give any performance boost.
Besically you need to install the stock KH7 first (using odin) and then install custom recovery if you want to root or use other modifications posted there.

I've got my tab now and have been messing with it for awhile without much success. I tried this...
1. reboot into cwm recovery
2. install deodexed stock rom via cwm
3. install cwm non-tw (from the thread)
and that resulted in a reboot-loop. So I can't go straight to cwm and have to install stock using ODIN first? okay help me out here a little, I'm still not sure what or where ODIN is...
okay I managed to get it to work after many tries. I used odin(which i think i didn't need to).. then installed the deodexed stock rom, pershoot's kernel, and non-tw..
Like i already said, first you need to install stock KH7 using odin.
Glad you got it working.

Would i be asking too much if i asked for an odexed version as well?

It's for Arabic, Hebrew and Farsi users.
I tried to flash the deodexed version on my THRITY TWO GIGABYTE VERSION of the GT-I9100 running 2.3.3, I9100XXKG1, 2.6.35.7 I9100ZSKG2-CL361136, GINGERBREAD.ZSKG2 which I bought in Taiwan from a Taiwanese carrier, so it's NOT THE CHINESE version with it's unique characteristics (sorry to holler). I rooted it last night with Chainfire's method and simply replaced the kernel KG2 kernel with his and got CWM running and did a backup.
Tonight, I won't use the "n" word, but I tried to flash this as my first ROM from your rather thin directions. I put your ROM as a .zip in my /USB storage folder, booted into CWM recovery and flashed it using CWM. I did not wipe or erase anything as I haven't gotten around to upgrading my Titanium backup to pro and doing a super thorough backup yet (paid market not working here in Taiwan). All seemed to go well. When I rebooted it took a long time. Once booted it kept telling me phone.android.com was "force close". In "about" it showed 2.3.4, and all the following 3 categories to be KI4.
I rebooted into CWM and restored my original setup (shouted above) with no problem.
1 Could there be an issue because I have a 32GB model and the partition table isn't "normal"?
2 Do I need to flash a modem or something else, so that is why the radio was force close?
3 Should I have wiped anything? Non-Wipe to me meant, don't wipe anything since this was seemingly near "stock".
4 Am I stupid?
5 All/combo of the above.
I realised I didn't say thanks to Wanam....Thanks
My money's on the non-wipe thing. The android version you had previously is way too old compared to this one, totally different base (well not totally, but still).
So yea, i'd suggest a wipe.
BTW I purchased Titanium backup before paid market came to Greece. There's a paypal purchase option, google it.
I'm currently on KF1, can i just flash this with no wipe ? And can I just reload my old CSC ?
I have a SGS2, rooted 2.3.6 XWKK5.
My question is: what is deodex and how do I deodex my SGS2?
I think this is the reason why I can't install most of the custom ROMs but I'm not sure since I am a noob.
Thank you.

Generally, Stock roms are odexed, and custom roms are deodexed.
In odexed rom, every app has an ".odex" associated with it's ".apk", which is responsible for pre-loading certain parts of the application.
In de-odexed rom, all apps are repackaged in such a way, that everything related to apk is in one place, i.e inside the .apk file itself. Deodexed rom has the advantage of facilitating deeper theme-ing and such.
You can not de-odex your phone, but you can install a custom rom.
First root your phone using the bat file method as mentioned in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319653
Download "darkyrom tool" from market.
Download a kernel with clockworkmod recovery. (Siyah/CF root, etc)
Put the tar/zip file in your internal usb storage, and use darky rom tool to flash the kernel. Now you are rooted, and has a custom recovery, all without a yellow triangle.
Browse through the forums to find a suitable rom for you. There are tons to choose from: GingerMod, CheckRom, Batista, Villain, Cognition, CM7, MIUI, etc etc.
Follow the instructions in the threads to flash rom through recovery.
You have now, a custom rom - deodexed. (Ain't this the reason we all join xda - to remove all 'stockiness' and apply 'custom-ness'!)
Hello so i want to load a custom rom and kernel onto my tablet but have no idea how to or which one to load!
What tools do i need?
Which rom is the best generally?
What are the risks or benefits?
I am currently rooted but stock rom froyo 2.2.2 and stock kernel.
My games are the biggest to me second is music thats what i use it for.
Thankx
1.lmgtfy.com/?q=how+to+flash+a+rom+on+samsung+galaxy+player+5. Google is your friend.
2. Any rom that isn't in developement is fine. Your choice.
3. There are no risks if you do it properly. Benefits are usually listed in the rom thread.

You can try this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579774
It's not a "custom ROM" with a lot of features and tweaks. It's based on a stock ROM (Gingerbread 2.3.6) and it's rooted, deodexed, with CWM Recovery and some other features...
For flashing instructions click on the link in the ROM's thread "Flashing Rom with Odin" where you will find a tutorial to the process...
To prevent any problem flash the right ROM for your device (International or USA version), you will only miss the SoundAlive feature that's crap in Gingerbread but games and other apps works fine.
Hope I helped and sorry for my crap english
