[Q] Is there Ever Going to Be? - HTC EVO 3D

The 3D has been out a while and with the new update on the 3D I was hoping for a few other fixes that are very immportant to a lot of people including me but the fixes in this update didn't include the fixes I was hoping for so I am asking anyone on here, will there ever be something devoloped to correct the low speaker/ringer volume?
My speaker volume especially on listening to voicemail is really low and that is unaccepatble to me to listen to my voicemail and can't hear it especially while in a room with any background noise.
The ringer volume I have tried to tweak with a few Market apps, even though they aren't directed at a volume issue but a few were suggested that might help but not enough to make a big difference.
I can't understand why a app can't be devoloped to correct these issues. I remember when I had my Palm Treo and I bought a app for it called "VolumeCare" that worked so on increasing the volume for both the speaker and ringer volume and that was way back so why can't one be devoloped for the Android phones that are having these issues?
If anyone has any answers I appreciate any response....Thanks in advance!!

I believe you need root.
Wiid is good for you

Volume+ helped most,,, but if you root you'll prolly have dsp manager baked into a custom ROM which helps

I would love to root but I am chicken and not sure I would understand the process.

I was chicken too, it is really simple, just follow the guide in this link LINE 4 LINE, STEP BY STEP (Read, read, read, UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU READ, then follow the instructions).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192525
You'll be rooted and up and running in probably less than 30 minutes!

This tutorial I followed yesterday and its just easy. Its working for CDMA and GSM
Mine is GSM and on the video is CDMA.
Just watch it one time and then just follow the instructions on the vid. real-time so you don't get stressed when you have to wait a moment when it looks nothing is happening.
There are 2 parts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sw_mgVHWYo is the first
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlO8QtMVq6g&feature=related is the (U can guess) Part 2

Not much to it just download a few drivers for your pc then one click on revolutionary takes 15 mins

Looking for ways to improve my rez...

Hey guys... With all these New releases flying from our talented devs, I was hoping there were some apps or kernels or anything that could assist me with a few minor flaws with my rez. First, my rezound is alittle too quiet. Is there an app out there that can make it louder overall... Including ringtones and General media. Second, my wife has a droid 3 and gets great 3g reception in our home and mine is lucky to see one bar. Is there a way for me to improve my signal at all. Thanks in advance.

A bar of data? Huh? There are no bars that show data. That would be your signal for your phone, not the data. The only way you can tell what your phone is doing with data would be upload and download speeds.
And yeah, the DSP manager will make your phone tons louder.

I think you've been spending too much time at at least one bar. I don't see where he mentioned data at all.
I did actually mention one bar... But that's besides the point. I managed to find dsp manager in a previous post, but was unable to see any significant change in the phones volume. The only controls available for the phones speaker was bass boost and equalizer, which I set the trebs a bit higher on hoping that would make a difference, and it did, it was just very slight. I reckon I'll try a few volume enhancer apps and report back with my findings.

Yes, please do. And I hope my post didn't sound like I was being an ass. I apologize if it did. I had issues with my speakerphone being too quiet. Everything else was plenty loud. I tried a couple of apps from the market but nothing seemed to work at all. Hopefully you'll be able to find something that does work.
I tried a few and the only one that made a difference was volume+. It actually made my phone about 25 to 50 pct louder.

I have had volume + in my last four phones now and I find it very handy to lock the volume so doesn't change in my pocket. I do want to make it ring louder however and I can't quite figure out how to do that??
~John
OP, I honestly think your phone might be jacked. My Rezound is loud...almost too loud sometimes and that's with no enhancements. I also get excellent signal, though that's always subjective. Go to the Verizon store and if your phone doesn't at least match the display Rezound, make them replace it.

What hidden fixes have you found with the new OTA?

Basically, stuff that wasn't advertised. So far I see:
1.) the hissing in the audio seems to be pretty much gone, which is awesome
2.) they added the battery meter thing into the "power" menu
3.) when synced to facebook, peoples birthdays are no longer a day earlier than they really are in the People app..they're the right date now!
------
to be tested:
1.) see if they got rid of the clicks/pops of the video camera (going to try to do a guitar video tomorrow to test) ****TESTED and they still have NOT fixed this. the audio is still god awful.
anyone else notice anything cool that wasn't advertised?
realllllllly? nobody noticed anything else? lol
Everyone else is rooted and still figuring out how to get the OTA! lol.
Seriously, if I'm not mistaken, those that are rooted and go right back to their nand, like I'm about to do, won't see the changes except the radios and hboot version.
EDIT: Restored my nand of Ineffabilis and I still see the 5 bars, I see the battery level indicator but not in the "power" menu, in the "About phone > battery" menu. I hope that means the calendar date thing is fixed too since I'm about to break down and sign up on Facebook.

Ack! They still didn't fix that compression distortion in the audio track? Damn, thats like the only reason I rarely ever record video on this thing. I wish they would fix that. It makes it sound like s**t. The other day I tested the video after I bolted on a quiet muffler on my car. In the video, I can still hear that compression noise very loudly, even with a quiet exhaust sound. Dohhhhh come on htc.....
yeah im gonna keep hitting them up until something gets fixed lol... either way, I bit the bullet and rooted lol so hopefully the devs can work on it now

Has anyone had a problem with the music app? It's no big deal but sometimes it locks-up and won't open unless I turn the phone off and turn it on again.
Skype wants to use earpiece for audio now rather than speaker on video calls. Not sure how to change it, but, it also means I can do a video call with my Bluetooth headset which is kind of nice. I tried this before the update and it didn't work.

Wouldn't think twice about it. You'll love having it unlocked and rooted. There are plenty of amazing ROMs right now to choose from. My phone's faster, smoother, and all around better. Just do it. You won't regret it.

What ROM would you recommend? I'm probably going to get an ics one without sense, but is de-sensedish or senseless better?

My understanding is that the ICS roms out there are mostly based off of a shaky HTC leak or two.. If you try one, I'd suggest Scott's (CleanROM/Senseless) as he's a constant presence in his release threads. I've been using his GB CleanROM builds and they've been flawless. Whichever way you go, be sure to follow every instruction to a tee...you won't brick, but one missed sentence can cause a mess of frustration
Asking whether our not to root, and then jumping head-first into ICS seems like a bad idea. The mainver issues inherent with all the different leaks can cause some real headaches for inexperienced rooters.
I would suggest sticking with GB for now until you learn a bit more about the process on this device. S-on while unlocked means you have to know exactly what you're flashing if you aren't gonna have adb access all day.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
I agree on not going straight to ICS at this time.
I have tried all the ICS ROMs just to see what they are all about, but they all have bugs and certain apps are not compatible ICS yet.
I always end up going back to the setup in my sig which I absolutely love. That is partly because neither of my two favorite themes work in ICS, but even if they did I would still wait for it to mature a little more before swapping back to it.
No problems here with ICS
Although you might want to try some gingerbread roms at first, Many of the non ASOP ICS roms are very stable. As for the mainver issue, just flash the kernel via flastboot and you should be fine. if you need help with anything just let me know. For your first rom i would recommend cleanrom or rezrom.
Even if you don't want to install different ROMS (but why wouldn't you) gaining root gives you so much more freedom on your device, from changing boot animations, to doing backups.
I recommend you unlock and root. I have run both SenselessROM ICS and CleanROM ICS and they both work great and perform better than GB, at least according to AnTuTu Benchmark. I currently use Scott's CleanROM 2.2 ICS. It is fast and very stable. Only bug I have with it is no streaming media thru bluetooth.
Yes but the streaming through Bluetooth is an issue for all ICS roms.

The trick is to not turn off your bluetooth device, but the bluetooth on the phone when not using it. That has worked for me, saving me from having to re pair the bluetooth.

Don't have that choice. The earpiece turns itself off when charging. A nice "feature" the manufacturer added.

why wouldnt it be a "feature"? why would anyone want to use the bluetooth with the usb cable poking out the back? not to mention the ear piece would likely just fall out of your ear if it was plugged in hehe..
to the OP, if your phone is working 100% to your liking, and you in no way feel its imperfect, then no, dont root.
if its say... 99% to your liking.. root it and get your 1% back!
cheers
Hmm if this is your first time rooting
I had two thunderbolt (mine and my gfs), one samsung charge , and the xoom tablet and couple of old iphones. So i went through many roots, jailbreaking etc..
I gotta say, hands down, the rezound is the trickiest, however, far form impossible due to the amazing devs support.
You really need to start with a simple phone that has s-off (like my loyal tbolt). after you get the complete gist of rooting, you have to back to school to understand the difference between unlocked bootloader and s-off.
Just to get the ota update, i spent close to one week just reading endless forums and user reports. When i did it, it worked flawlessly, but i still have a residual migraine from the amount of info i had to really understand.
of course now that i accomplished it, it seems like cake, which make me get to the next point; just because someone says its easy, it doesent mean it is.
Point is, if your a noob(i, in no way, want to insult you, just watching out for you), find a nice person on this forum that accomplished this and Pm them every step of the way. This community has matured and developed to fight against one enemy, the big red, and all their ways trying to hinder us from getting 100 % of our money.
Bottom line: If this is your first root, or if this is your first s-on unlocked bootloader root, spend at least 2 weeks to understand EVERYTHING you need to do, but without a doubt, you will only unlock this beast's potential when you root and unlock it, only then will you see why developers are jumping ship as well as old g-nex users to this phone
I can vouch for reading again and again what you are planning to do. I wanted to update my firmware for the radios and I read for almost a week on how to accomplish this. The sheer volume of topics on that one subject is amazing.
Bottom line, search, read, search some more, and when you think you done, search at least two more times.

BFD what antutu says, that means absolutely nothing.
I have seen absolutely zero real world performance difference between my current setup & ICS. That, some app/theme incompatibility & the BT streaming issue (I use BT in my car every day) are plenty to keep me on GB for now.

I drive a fully loaded Ford Escape hybrid. I absolutely LOVED the thing until it spun a rod bearing at 98,000 miles requiring an engine replacement.
I did all the work myself (I used to be an auto mechanic) but it still cost me $2200.00 for a used engine.......

Way to Increase Max Volume?

I was just wondering if there is any way to forcibly increase the max volume limit on ICS? I've seen some apps in the market that claim to, but wanted to ask here first. I can't hear the phone ring if I'm in just a moderately loud environment, and my last phones (iPhone 4, Galaxy S and OG Droid) were all PLENTY loud.

I actually found one that works well. Its called volume+, and its $2 on the market or free on his forum. For the rezound, because it has beats, it needs a special audio-settings.conference file, which he also has posted on his forum with instructions to add it. I turned the audio settings all the way up and it makes a considerable difference, without too much distortion. Give it a try
Just a suggestion...i make my own ring tones from mp3s in audacity and just pump up the gain. Right now it's the guitar riff from Mr jack by system of a down and it makes people around me jump even in a busy loud store when it rings, hell I could hear it at the last football game I was at.

this looks promising but i do not have ICS just got my rezound today but this guy said he extracted DSP from a AOSP rezound ROM

probably just set "phone speaker" to have a higher output in the EQ..or just raise the EQ so they're all even, but like 5 steps up or so
With DSP Manager, the only thing that really makes it loud is headset virtual room. But of course its only available for headphone setting. Eq dont do squat in headphone setting...no effect... But EQ works ok on speaker. Just dont go all that loud even with the EQ enabled, but no volume boost for main speaker. Need louder volume on the Rezound....period regardless what ROM you using. Im on GB still

I purchased this app a year or so ago but don't bother installing it anymore. I immediately found it didn't play well with DSP manager, both start FCing constantly if they are installed together. I couldn't see that it made much of a noticeable difference anyway Other than for headset volume and that's plenty loud enough anyway.
Where did you find the beats fix?? I just searched that site for beats fix, Rezound mods etc etc and got no result at all???

It's listed on the releases page I believe, and it's it's own separate thread, called [MOD] htc device fix or something along those lines. And you have to install that audio_settings.conf file he provides if you're on a Rezound for it to make a difference. I installed it and have the volume set to +15 and it makes it unbelievably better. Much, much louder, and I set the eq to Beats like and there's very little distortion at full volume, and notifications/ringtones are much, much louder.
here's the thread for volume+ fix for htc devices with beats:

when you first open volume+ it says to go to settings and enable volume+, but there is no option when I go to settings, under sound.
Does yours have that option?

Is there a volume mod?

I was just wondering if there was some sort of volume mod that gave you more control of the volume? So instead of the 15 different volume levels there could be, I don't know, say 20-30? Because I cannot find the perfect volume level, one is a little too quiet and the next one up is way too loud..
I might just be complaining here, but just thought I'd ask because I would love the uploader forever hah. This device is great for music, I would just like a little more control over the volume.
I will thank every helpful reply I get as well. Thanks in advanced.
Someone did this mod before although I can't remmeber who it was maybe flex or the people from classic rom

Thanks man! I'll take a look around there, hopefully I can find it.
Just wanted to bump this thread as there isn't much point in making a new thread that says the same thing.
I never found what the other person suggested, does anyone else have any ideas? I've tried apps in the past that had a slider which would go from 1-100, but all it did was something like 1-9 is the lowest volume possible, 10-19 is the second lowest, 20-29 one more level up, etc. It did allow for more precise control of volume, but didn't actually do anything.. I apologize if I'm confusing everyone, I'm trying my best to explain and not entirely sure the correct wording... As stated above, I thank every helpful reply.
And I guess I'm (somewhat) decent at programming, if anyone had any ideas as to which files to look at so maybe I can do this myself?
Thanks in advanced!

Thanks for the link! I will try that out and see if I can't get it working right!
And my EVO is currently running Viper4G 3.1.6 on firmware 4.1.1.
SuperJelly M4 has this built in to the extended quick settings...
Its in the screenshot where it says volume control
Edit: this doesn't increase the volume, just gives you more steps for more control.
