This is just a simple build.prop mod to fix the fingerprint back to the working ERE27 one used in CM. Everything in Settings still shows FroYo, but the Market sees you as ERE27 & thus gives you your protected apps back
To install run this from the directory you unzip the file to:
ADB Method:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/build.prop
adb push froyo.prop /system/build.prop
adb shell reboot
Then, once it reboots, go into the dialer, and type
Code:
*#*#CHECKIN#*#*
which is
Code:
*#*#2432546#*#*
for those of you who are too lazy to read the letters
A message should pop up into the status bar after a few seconds depending on your connection speed saying checkin succeeded.
Now you're good to go, open Market and download away
EDIT: Since I know some of you will wonder what this does, it just changes the ro.build.fingerprint & ro.build.description settings back to ERE27. This alone would normally be enough, but you're depending on luck to when you next check in. Dialing that code in the Dialer will force a checkin.
EDIT 2: Thanks to Shafty023 here is a method for the shell:
LINUX SHELL METHOD
Copy froyo.zip to /sdcard, then open a Terminal shell on your phone
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
cd /system
mv build.prop new.build.prop
unzip /sdcard/froyo.zip
mv froyo.prop build.prop
rm /sdcard/froyo.zip
reboot
Upon booting back up, open Dialer and type in the following code
Code:
*#*#2432546#*#*
Once you see a notification in the notification bar that says checkin succeeded you can now open Market and are done.
Nice! Trying it now.
EDIT: Working great so far. Thanks!

Use one of the root file explorers to unzip the file, delete the old build.prop, put the new one in, and then type the command in the dialer
Works like a charm, thanks!
Worked great, THANK YOU!!!!!
I'm getting checkin failed. should I have renamed froyo.prop to build.prop?
edit: I'm able to see protected apps though.
So what happens when apps start getting udated to take advantage of JIT? If you have ERE27 signature do you get the JIT'less version of the apps? I know Replica Island is coming with a JIT version. I'm afraid to mess with anything right now, rather be patient and give it a few days.

If you inserted this line correctly, it renames and places the file in its directory as build.prop
adb push froyo.prop /system/build.prop

Apps don't have to be updated to take advantage of JIT at all. They can be optimized but they can be optimized without JIT too. There are no different versions. JIT just converts the Java/Dalvik code into native code at app launch, instead of running it through the slower virtual machine. Its like C++ vs Java on a desktop, the native code (C++) is much faster when executed.
The only thing this will lead to is when apps start showing up in the Market as 2.2+ only, but by that point Google will have updated the market to recognize the new footprint.
Can someone give an example of a "Protected" app? If its worth anything, im assuming its paid apps. If so, i can see them without a modded build.prop.

I think Twidroid Pro is protected.
What I'm wondering is, if somebody swaps out the build prop but hasn't installed flash yet, would this block them from doing so?

Pure calender widget (agenda) is a protected app taht doesnt show up in the 2.2 market
Edit: Works perfect! Thanks.

Nope, Flash still shows up in the Market top apps for me, but I already have it installed. Technically it probably should show up only on the 2.2 Market, but Google may not be able to filter that yet since they haven't enabled the 2.2 fingerprint yet. Just theories here, don't take anything I say too seriously
Also, a perfect example of protected apps is all the Gameloft apps. Search the Market for Gameloft. They won't show up on 2.2 without this, I tried multiple times

Even after this?
First of all, all credits for this tutorial go to wolfilein and batemann
wolfilein's original app2sd thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804574
Since the other "how to" thread is a bit cluttered, I decided to tell the community how I got app2sd running on my phone flawlessly, in details.
I'm assuming that you have already rooted your x10 mini/pro and you are familiar with partitioning your SDcard, running ADB tool and root explorer.
If not, then please refer to these threads
For rooting your phone -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739874
How to use ADB -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502010
So lets get going -
Step 1) Create 2 partitions on your SDcard, a) Fat32 b) ext2. I used Mini Tool Partition Wizard to create partitions. Remember if you are a windows user, you need to create first partition as Fat32 and second as ext2 other wise windows will not recognize your SD card when you will connect your phone/card reader.
A detailed tutorial on how to partition your card can be found here-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=SD_card_partitioning
Step 2) Download attached rar file and extract them on your SDcard root (not inside any folder)
Step 3) Open ADB Shell and type - busybox. If you see the list of busybox commands you can move to Step 5. Otherwise refer to Step 4
Step 4) If you do not have busybox installed or recognized on your system, you need to install it. I found that best way to install busybox is the manual one, so even if you mess up with busybox installation, your phone is not bricked, yet.
So to install Busybox please enter the adb shell and type su, prompt should change to # sign, confirming that you have entered rootshell successfully.
Now type :
Code:
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock0 /system
Code:
cat /sdcard/busybox > /system/xbin/busybox
Code:
chmod 755 /system/xbin/busybox
Code:
/system/xbin/busybox --install -s /system/xbin/
Once you finished the installation, typing busybox from rootshell should list busybox commands. If you can not get the list of busybox commands, or get message like permission denied, or busybox not found, please confirm that you can see busybox in /system/xbin/ and the permission is set to 755. you can use root explorer for this.
Step 5) Now its time to run App2sd.sh
So from rootshell, type:
Code:
sh /sdcard/app2sd.sh
and PRAY.. Its very important to pray, because anything goes wrong here, you will end up with a PROPER bricked phone. Nah, just kidding.
Your phone should reboot itself upon finishing. and when it comes back online, app2sd should be running on your phone..
good luck.
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for anything that happens to your phone. You take the sole responsibility of your phone, if it gets bricked, vanished or turned into cheese in the proccess.
great .. and PRAY.. LOL
I tried this procedure last week. And it went wrong cause my transcend sdhc (class 2) was faulty OMG!!!
So I bricked my phone, repaired it, and now I'm waiting another 16Gb (class10) card ... so I can brick again my phone.. ROTFL.. no no.. I'm sure this procedure is going to be ok
Thanks to titanium backup I have not lost one bit
Mate seems like a great tut, I'm just flashing my phone to follow this properly =]

You enter into rootshell When you type su on adb shell. the prompt in rootshell is #.

IF rooted using universal androot app
1. Does this work if phone is rooted with universal and root??
2. I don't have a card reader to format the sdcard.
I formatted using the Phone itself (through usb cable), but the card didn't mount, and prompting to format it

1. Yes it will work regardless of the rooting method.
2 .Make sure that first partition of your SD card is fat32.
Thanks for a great guide!
Finally got it working on my mini pro.
Don´t know if it´s your script or my phone but it didn´t want to run for me.
When I hit "sh /sdcard/app2sd.sh" the command-window just turns to # again without doing anything.
So I ended up running all commands manually instead and that worked nicely.
Same happened with me... how did you run the commands manually?

Opened the app2sd.sh-file in an text-editor, then I can see all commands listed.
Then I just Copy-And-Paste the commands line by line (Not all at once) in the command-window.

Mate, I only made this thread to help the community. Since this is the method I used to get a2sd running on my phone. And I did not edit/changed your script, I wrote it down, which involved my own corrections and researchs (which I contributed to your thread as well). True that ln.sh was provided by batemann, that's why I gave you two full credit.
I can not delete the thread as there are posts there, however if you claim all the rights on the method, I'll pm the moderators and ask them to merge this thread with yours.
As for helping with picture how to, I would be more than happy to help the community.

after using a2sd script not all the data go to sdcard, right? some still remain @ internal?
so whats the best gingerbread to run on the p500? are there many bugs or fc's or anything? should i just stick to 2.2(.x)
great place to ask... but will the questions be answered right away?
i thought at first, as the title implies...
right after clicking the link, i thought i will see steps and procedures and best bets for GB ports and ROMS... but somehow.. its not the idea...
i guess we should rename the title... GB discussions of some sort...
because this cant be the thread with a guide to install something....

Hello everyone, I'm having an "issue" with CM7. Someone made a wifi fix for Beta 1, and now Beta 2 has a fix itself and it's all fine except I have to give the terminal superuser permission in order for it to work.
I was wondering if there's a way for it to automatically give permission as I have to write su everytime I turn my phone on and that's a bit lame :x
su is the root command. Whenever you want root access, you type su. It is made this way because the shell does not need root for all commands. So you may want to browse your folders via shell, and you wont need su for that.
In all linux distros, and unix too, you type su when needing root access... that's the way it works. Be happy that you don't need to type the admin password whenever going root via su, as you would in linux/unix.

No, you don't have to be a superuser for it to work. The "su" command is just needed to check if the fix is working. If you just run the command "iwconfig wlan0" the terminal gives back to you wrong values, due to the lack of superuser command. But it doesn't mean the power management or the txpower are not working.

Hi,
in this post, seo posted some ported sense 3.0 apps and widgets for Sense 2.1 GB roms.
I tried to install some of them and got MMS to work.
Then tried to get Rosie and widgets, but they wouldn't install directly, so i started playing around with ADB.
i think adb is fully set up, i am able to pull apks from /system/app.
problem is, i am obviously unable to push, install or uninstall system apps via
adb push
adb install
adb uninstall.
this was when i tried remounting (with remount,rw etc.) and was able to "rip off" rosie.apk (i know it worked as it wasn't there anymore later on ) but still was unable to install apps (with the effect i hadn't got a launcher at all.)
latest step was creating a signed update.zip, didn't work, recovery just restarts.
anyone help? someone got experience which may help me? i went through about 10 or 20 guides and am kind of desperate right now as things just dont work
thanks

I would already be happy if you managed to solve the update.zip issue (would help me with other updates) but the main prob is adb noch really working, seems like some system part is blocking this?

rom Salsasense RC2 (at the moment...)
recovery CWM 2.0.5.7 (think so, but im sure i got the latest)

ooookay, tried to edit existing salsasense, resulting in non-functional rom rebooting into recovery.

1. You want WHAT? And what is the purpose?
2. In how far is this related to this topic?
3. If u give us a path to this file, why do u ask where it is? Maybe try dowloAding some random rom (probably some ruu) and do extract & search..
4. Are you really willing to contribute to this topic? I dont see the point of posting this.
5. Obey forum rules. If u have got a question, post it directly in q&a section, not in some random topic or directly explain the connection to the actual topic.

hi guys, i try to install some querty keyboard like fleksy on android wear with adb comands.
after many attemps i found the way.
You should be having android platflorm Tools to use ADB.
1. Enable Android Debugging in your android wear (tap many times on build version)
2. Connect your android wear watch.
3. connect your smartwatch to phone via bluetooth
4.write: adb devices
5. see if your device is listed (if you see "unhautorized" see your smartphone to allow the permission)
6.Install App to your watch using this Command: adb install yourApkName.apk
7.Type: adb shell ime enable com.syntellia.fleksy.kb/.Fleksy (if this give you an error try com.syntellia.fleksy.keyboard/.Fleksy)
8.Type: adb shell ime set com.syntellia.fleksy.kb/.Fleksy (if this give you an error try com.syntellia.fleksy.keyboard/.Fleksy)

hi guys, i try to install some querty keyboard like fleksy on android wear with adb comands.
after many attemps i found the way.
Done.
If i help you press thanks

ok no problem. the problem is that the file package (com.example....) depends on your apk file. So you can do this:
-download this application for windows: apk tool for wear from xda
-connect to your phone
-find in the list the name of your fleksy package (com.syntellia....)
-write it in the adb command. (example: adb shell ime enable "yourpackage"/.Fleksy )

The package name, not the apk name. Post the screenshot of the apktool package list.
