[Q] Tethering 4g speeds? - HTC EVO 3D

I have tried pdanet and easytether, none of those give me 4g speeds while tethering. I have tried unlocked hotspot, but neither the usb nor the wifi tethering let me use 4g, as soon as i plug it in or start the wireless hotspot, it disconnects me from 4g and it cant reconnect, but once i turn off tethering it lets me connect to 4g
anyone get 4g speeds on tethering?

This has been an issue since the OG EVO. The only way I ever had 4G speeds on tether was USB tether with CM7. But that's on the OG EVO. It's only a matter of time.

I get great 4g speeds while tethering with PDAnet, in fact when I use the speed test app on my phone and then use the speed test website on my laptop I usually have a 50-100% increase in download and upload speed.

slow 4g tether

so i tried to wireless tether my phone today to see if my new 4g connection was faster than my at home internet. however during a download i was only getting about 108kb/sec which is waaaay slow for 4g. im getting 2-3 mbps on the phone. im using barnacle wifi tether. is it the app? if so what app should i be using? FYI i dont want to use the actual verizon feature because they limit how much you can download per month.
edit: dur, if i read first... 2-3 mbps is still pretty slow for 4g on your phone though. you could try wireless tether: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
found the problem. says in description that barnacle shares 3g connection. can anyone suggest a good 4g tether or wireless tether app? i tried the one listed here but i couldnt find it on the market only in the link.

Get the one from Google. Verizon had Google take wifi-tether out of the market. Just make sure that you have install from unknown sources checked off.
that one still only says 3g and 2g in the description and it doesnt have a thunderbolt version. can anyone confirm it works with 4g and if so which version should i get?
It's a free app dude. Why not just try it?
because im out of town and dont have 4g and wont until monday.
I know that PDAnet claims to be capable of achieving very fast 4g speeds...I believe the description said 20-30 mbps, and it's a non rooted app. However, it isn't a wireless tethering app, you have to use a USB connection (or bluetooth, which will be slower.) If using a a USB cord is acceptable for you, or you can't find a wireless tethering app that you find to deliver adequite speeds for your needs, give that one a try.
Wifi tether worked for me i la,ok city, tampa, seattle should i continue, it has worked everywhere i have been either 4g or 3g,the phone is faster but it still works.
my screamin' lil' bamfed out tbolt

Tethering question

I usually just use Mobile AP from my Vibrant to my Tab, but I'm wondering if USB tethering will get me faster speeds? My signal at work sucks, so if the usb tethering would be faster, I'd like to order the adapter. Thank you.
If you are talking about your cell signal sucking, then it wouldnt matter if you were tethering via usb or wifi.
I tether to my tab from my old htc hero and the speeds are 3gish. The battery just doesn't last too long.

OpenGarden tethering suddenly VERY slow for NO reason?!

I have always used OpenGarden for thethering and it's quite fast. But now all of a sudden with OpenGarden I go from having 15mbps down and 4mbps up to 1 down and 1 up?? Wtf?? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and no difference??
Try Wireless Tether, I made a switch from Open Garden to Wireless Tether and works great. I don't know why there was that much a difference between the two but it works
Well I ended up trying a different channel on OpenGarden and now its fine again....not even sure what that changes are/what differences are made now...
And btw, Wireless Tether never worked well for me, OpenGarden is the only tethering app I have been able to get LTE speeds on....

verizon 4g wifi tether issues

So at my new place i can only get satalite internet, no dsl, no cable. I setup a 4g repeater and get awesome signal in my house now. Set up a router with dd-wrt to connect to my phone's wifi hotspot. My problem is when i use it, 4g drops after a while, maybe 5-30 min. tethering usb to a computer works fine with pdanet+. Ive tried different roms, resetting to factory, rooting with 3rd party wifi tether apps, sqllite editor hack for the build in wifi. Ive seen some other people are having the same issue with jellybean on other phones on verizon. Foxfi worked great on ics, 4g never dropped. streamed netflix for an hour no problems.
Anyone found a fix yet?

Anyone knows how to bypass the hotspot speed cap of 512kbps

school wifi sucks, which means i need a reliable hotspot tethering speed
Buy the T-Mobile One Plus international plan and you'll get unlimited lte hotspot

use PDANet or EasyTether Pro
T-Mobile One Plus International plan does NOT give you unlimited LTE hotspot, because after you consumer 50GB in a single billing cycle your data will be de-prioratized. You will still get LTE tethering, but the speed of it won't be fast, because the phone itself, even without tethered connection, will be slowed down until next billing cycle start. For the same reasons the suggestion of next poster to use a tethering app like PDANet or EasyTether Pro will only work for the first 50GB consumed. After that your tethered devices will get slow speeds, because the hotspot source itself will be deprioratized on T-Mobile network.
