This feels like a dumb question, but since I'm not sure...
Will the sd card from my EVO need to be reformatted for the photon? My phone should be here this afternoon or tomorrow. I have copied the important stuff (pics and vids) from the card to my pc. I just wasn't sure what was "optimal" as far as going forward.
Thanks a bunch!
i have the memory card from my evo 3d in my photon. works fine, all the pics are there etc.

When I purchased the evo 3d today the rep said not to put your old sd in the phone or it will format all of your data on there. I havent tryed it yet but I wanted to know if this was true

I put a new 16GB one in last night with no issue. I copied the contents of the 8GB one into a folder on my computer and then copied those contents to the new card. I did all the copying outside of the phone as my computer has an SD slot I could use. Green Hornet movie still played fine from new card.
Hope this answers your question.
+1 Same Here transfer on P/C and works fine
thanks for the info didnt want to lose everything on my sd
Why is it important to copy the original 8G contents to your 16G card?

I did the same and Green Hornet played, but not in 3D. I took the 16gb out and put the original 8gb back in and it worked...maybe I have to format the 16gb card? =/
Same here. I transferred new card to my old card and everything is fine.

So, like the title says, I accidently formatted my SD card today not even 20 min into having my phone. For some reason I thought I had put my other 8GB card into the phone, and when I went to look, sure enough the phone had the Class 4 card in it. What were/are the contents of the SD card. Am I missing anything I didn't have before? Did I delete my movies?
You shouldn't have any problems, I started mine with a blank 16 gig from the first boot of the phone and I have no problems and nothing is missing.

There was some sample music and the Green Hornet 3D movie. I wiped mine as well, but copied the contents to my computer hard drive first. If you want a copy, you can send me your empty card and I'll fill 'er up for you.
Me 2 anyone have the 2d and 3d sample photos that came with the phone I can download
I didn't reformat my card but I have a feeling the girl at Radio Shack who was setting up my phone my have. I spent all day trying to figure out why The Green Hornet wouldn't play, finally figured out it wasn't there. I don't have that or any of the sample pics that are supposed to be on there. The thing that sucks is that the movie has DRM and I'm sure it would be illegal for someone to post a download link on here or something. That is one of the reasons I might try and have the phone replaced tomorrow. I'm a little annoyed that I didn't get everything I paid for. Even if I were to simply watch it once and delete it, that's my choice.

erikivy,
I'm in a similar boat and I would LOVE for you to hook with up with the original files! Can I mail you a. 4.7GB DVD to get them? I only have one SD card and can't be without it.
Wouldn't it being licensed make it okay to upload...can't play it without the license, right? If anyone does UL it or put in their dropbox or something, I would appreciate a link...I too formatted the card (as well as hard resetting) the minute I got the phone in my grubby hands....

Someone here already put it in a dropbox. Dropbox shut the link down because of too much activity (not because of content). If anyone wants to upload it again, I'd suggest something like filedropper.com.

Getting this message for some reason, and can't find a resolution. Copying my important stuff off now, then will probably reformat with the phone.
It started when I put the card in the replacement 3VO I ordered, because my first one was acting funny. About half a day later it game me the SD message, (sent it right back). Ever since I put it back in my first one it's been giving me that message.
Anyone have any ideas? Is my SD actually just going bad? Is it a corrupt file? Something entirely different?
Thanks to anyone who can help me get this figured out. Been searching Google since, but haven't found anything really relevant to the Evo 3D.

Hard to say, but you're doing the right thing coping everything off and then reformatting. My suggestion would be to also reformat it in the phone too. If this still happens, try another sdcard in the phone so you know for sure if it's the phone or the card.
Ok. Just went through with it. Seems like it's good so far. Didn't format it on the PC, just the phone, then reset the phone, then copied only my original stuff back on. So far so good. I'll add another reply in a couple days stating whether or not it holds up.

i've had the same issue with an aftermarket class 6 8GB sdcard I used in my EVO for a year. my experience has been once you start getting errors with an sdcard, they are on their last leg.
i would look into getting a replace or have a spare, just to be prepared, as its rough modifying your phone w/o an sdcard! too bad there isnt a tool which could give us more detail on the life/reliability of the sdcard!
hope it all works out!
i had the same problem....i do not think it is the sdcard
i believe the software is forgetting parts of the sdcard and sending the error.
it happened to me on my 16gb class 10
also happened on my wife's evo 3d with the stock card.
FIX: only fix i found is to get all info off with your pc then format the card and load everything back on through the phone or pc.
if anyone knows more i would like to know.
So far so good here. Took everything off my card, formatted it in the phone, put my stuff back on, and everything seems ok. Seems like if you just take your card out and toss it in another phone that'll happen. Didn't have that issue between my Hero and this one, so I'm not sure what the issue was.

I searched for this but couldn't find it. I'm using AmonRa recovery and ran a backup. I can't for the life of me figure out where it's stored on my phone though. I like to keep old backups on my PC so I don't clutter my SD card. Any idea where these backups would be?
Nandroid folder.. external or internal sd card

Mine ended up on my external sd card in a folder called "Nandroid" when I used Amon Ra
Yeah, I'm an idiot. Thanks, guys. I was looking for backup or recovery or amonra or something. CWM usually had them in it's own folder called backup. Got it now. Thanks a bunch.

Thank you for that post, my sd card was half full (mostly from making nandroids) so I searched, found your post and now my card is almost empty again. Thank you.

Haha, no problem. That was driving me crazy when we first got unlocked. I have a 32gb sdcard and I had about half of it full with nands. Now I just keep one and keep my card clean
64GB
Nandroid is why I keep hoping someone who ACTUALLY bought a 64GB Sandisk Mobile Ultra SDXC card reports back if it works in a Rezound (yes, there are threads on the topic, full of guesses and full of 'my uncles cousins nephews roommate heard of someone who did it, and it works great'). My Dinc SD card was full of ROM images and Nandroid backups, so a 64GB solution would be great ... if it works (and $150 is a little too much to spend on an experiment; at least for me).

Dude, I responded to you in the 64gb thread quoting several people (from said thread who posted before you did) who reported that they did it and it worked. I put one in and posted pics showing that it worked. I reported in again saying it was still working after I rooted and flashed a ROM. You should just buy the card as it seems you're not going to believe it until you see it on your own phone!
so my panos and just them not any picture are just gone outta my albums no other picture at all and its not like i dont have room on my sd card...im on cm9 2.1 and i really want them iv been looking around and seeing if they are in a cash folder or something but no luck. anyone have ideas about what happen to them? its not like my pocket is smart enough to just del my pano pictures and no others....please help me out

I hope somebody can help me. I'm excited, because Joker got the camera working in CM9 0.2.0, so I installed it, but now I can't find any of my pictures!
I tend to take a lot of panoramic pictures, so many that I have this cute little nickname for them. I call them "panos". Isn't that cute? Anyway, I know they take up a lot of space, but I've got plenty of room on my SD card.
I can't understand where they might have gone. My photos are pretty important to me (I take pictures of really cool things like my **** when I'm using the toilet [which is why I use panoramic mode], and my sister when she's in the shower), so I'd really like to get them back.
I've looked all through my SD card, even through directories that look like maybe they're just cache directories, but I can't find my photos for the life of me.
I thought maybe I "pocket deleted" them, but surely I wouldn't have accidentally deleted all of them in my pocket, would I have?
Please help me. I'm not sure I can catch my sister in the shower again.

First of all, if you're running 0.2.0, I recommend upgrading to 0.3.3. It's really tits. But if that's what you're running, and you didn't edit vold.fstab, then you might not be seeing your SD card at all. Or, if you are running a new version, or you did edit your vold.fstab, but you have "Use internal storage" checked under Settings->Advanced, then your SD card is mounted at /emmc, and your internal memory is what's mounted at /sdcard.
So in either case, you may be looking at the contents of internal memory instead of your SD card, so what you expect to be there isn't.
If you took them with the stock camera, your pictures will be in /sdcard/DCIM/Camera as long as that's where your SD card is mounted.
Oh, and don't worry about those pics of your sister. I've got better ones I can send you.
