Only works on Froyo ROMs I believe. You could flash one or restore one, program it or activate it there, then flash back to IHO.

I don't understand what you're saying. Boot into recovery mode (power off, hold vol-down, home, & power until LG logo), then backup current ROM, wipe cache, dalvik cache, & format, & flash a stock or froyo ROM that has the "activate" feature. Reboot into the newly flashed ROM, activate or do the "##" codes. Then boot into recovery again and restore the backed up ROM & reboot into it.

When I upgraded to iho I had to back up the ogrignal froyo rom my question bein that can I restore that froyo rom from clockworkrecorvery since its really hard for me to get computer access?

yes. that is the easiest way to restore whatever backup.
you'll have to format data, cache, and dalvik cache between restoring backups of different roms.

ROM Manager to update rom

I have axura 2.0.5, when the new rom comes out how will I go about updating to 2.0.6?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Odin back to stock then flash new rom cause I'm not sure when master is putting updates in rom manager
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw
Thanks, do any ROMs use the OTA update?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Not that I know of but pretty soon I'm sure most of the devs will make updates available through there cause a lot of them have there own sites and are slowly pulling away from xda to an extent so it just seems that would be a natural step
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw
I appreciate the info Will. I just downloaded 2.0.6 and I guess I will have to wait until I get home to use odin and reflash!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
You do not need to ODIN back... just flash away. You are on 2.0.5 and there were very little changes for .6.
2.1 is going to be a much bigger jump.
Regarding having his ROMs show in Rom Manager... Master and Koush are working to get it to show up. Master has submitted some things to koush on his github I believe... not certain who needs to take what action.
Should I back up current rom, or wipe data & cache before flashing 2.0.6?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Always make a backup.
The rom will wipe data automatically when you flash it.
Because of this, you should use titanium backup to save all of your apps/data so you can restore them easily.
Already titanium backed up everything. this is what the ROM Manager pops up with when I click on the axura file.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Go to clockwork recovery and try installing it that way

Ahh, you can install this way too.
If you do not have a nandroid backup then yes, check backup. No need to wipe data.
It'll reboot into recovery, backup, then flash the rom.
Most of us reboot to cwr manuallt to flash.

[Q] If I reset the phone to factory settings, do I have to perform rooting again?

Hi,
I'd like to reset my rooted Optimus to factory settings.
If I reset, do I loose superuser and have to perform rooting again or will my phone still be rooted but loose superuser in app? In this case, how can I install superuser again?
What if I update its Froyo 2.2.1 to 2.2.2?
Thanks.
Yes you loose your root. And you will have to root it again with the same procedures u rooted before.

No he doesn't. If He rooted his phone, but He didn't install a custom recovery and if He does an hard reset with that 3-keys combo you won't lose root, because Superuser.apk was installed in /system/app.

Yeah in no case you will lose root. I myself had factory reset my phone even on stock froyo rom, and then went to recovery and made a nandroid backup and uploaded for some users.

Thats great I dont know about it
Do not use factory reset if you have Clockwork Mod recovery. Not recommended.
Actually, if you have a recovery installed, reset your phone via recovery by wiping data, system, cache etc.
Cheers!

I was on speed rom 7.5, but i liked the way cm10 looked so I wiped my data and all that and flashed it. My phone hasn't done anything but stay on the cyanogen rotating thing for like 15 minutes. Please help. (Ps. I was dumb and didnt make a nandroid backup -_-)

same thing happened to my phone with CM 10, so i ended up instaling the android revolution rom for the time being.
What recovery are you using? Use 4ext if you aren't, try again, if it loops more than once, you either forgot to wipe before install or you need to flash the kernel manually.

I also had a problem when I flashed Speedrom but with versions 6.5 which I had previously working perfectly but then decided to switch to SS3 and then switch back. Now I also had the bootloop issue thing where the thing would just keep spinning. So I re-flashed SS3 with the faux kernel and then just did the two things:
4EXT Recovery btw
Wipe data/factory reset
Clear dalvik cache
Then install the rom and once done, go back to menu and reboot from recovery. It should tell you that the previously used boot.img will be used (that is what I get when I flash my roms and they work perfectly).
+1 is this helped!
Thanks it worked! Though I switxhed back to speed rom lol

[Q] New to rooting i717

I have an AT&T i717 running ics stock rom. I installed cwm 5.0. something and was intending on installing the CM10 JellyBean rom from paranoid. It would not install from sd card. tried another rom from diff developer, same thing. I read that I needed an updated cwm so I tried to flash another, wouldnt work with the version of ODIN i had so i upgraded to v3.07, was able to flash another and then when I went to recovery it stayed in a black screen, reflashed the older version of cwm and now when I go to recovery it will show the main screen, but if I try to install or even reboot it takes the menu away and shows the symbol in the center. Am I just completely stupid? Have I missed something?
Are you rooted?

Did it work?
Figured it out. Cleared both cache and delvik Cache and did a factory reset. worked like a charm. thanks for the help and I hope this helps others as well.
Just for future reference, also wiping system along with wiping cache/dalvik and factory reset is good practice. Sometimes not wiping system can cause some issues.

Unable to flash aosp roms

After running just about every ROM for this device, I recently flashed my first stock based ROM (cooked 1.8). However since this time I've been unable to flash back to any aosp ROM. I get boot looped on every one. I've tried everything. Yet, I can flash cooked again no problem. I know there's something I'm missing. Any help would be great.

Backup won't boot either. That was my first plan.

Have you tried to format system under mounts and storage after your factory reset, and before you flash your rom and gapps? Just a suggestion. Not sure it will fix you problem or not. It seems as if I had a problem similar to what you are describing after running a Samsung based rom in the past. I believe that was the cure to my issue.

Search for Siyah kernel v4.3.3 in the forums and install, restart recovery and flash away. Should take care of it.

I always have kept that kernel on standby but that didn't work. I've tried every kernel. Can't believe backups won't even boot. I flashed cook's ROM wipe before his ROM the first time, wonder if that did something.

Try Odin to stock and start from scratch. A lot of work but hey what do you have to lose.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
First find a compatible Kernel for the AOSP ROM your trying to flash. Flash that Kernel.
Second, after the flashing is done, reformat the device; cache, dalkiv cache and system and system settings.
Third, reboot into recovery mode from the recovery menu itself.
Fourth, flash the kernel one more time.
Fifth, flash the AOSP ROM of your choice.
Sixth, reboot back into recovery menu.
Seventh, reformat once more.
Eigth, reboot the device.
As you should know, the first boot up after flashing a ROM takes the longest. Give it like a minute or two.
If this doesn't work, you have to flash a kernel that was compatible with the "cooked" rom you were using. Then from there do a reformat from the recovery menu. Once reformat is done, flash the AOSP kernel, then flash the AOSP ROM right after. Then reformat once more and reboot as normal.
If that doesn't work, flash compatible kernel with the "cooked" ROM your using now and also relay the cooked ROM, and then use Odin to bring it back to stock un-rooted. From there, do as you wish.

That is exactly what needed to be done. Mr cook actually has another thread with cwm flashable wipe scripts that would have done that. Quite handy
