So, I bite the bullet and flashed the new rooted version of the OTA. Link below:

But now WiFi Tether does not work on 3G or 4G. Has anyone else have this issue?
I really use it a lot with my wifi only xoom before the new updated Rom.
Update: I used the follow guide and got 3g to work but not 4g. I really need 4g since I work in a strong 4g coverage area.

Hi guys, I recently flashed BAMF1.8 and MR2. It was working pretty well yesterday, but today I have no 4G at all and 3G seems to drop in and out at random. Sometimes, I don't even have 1x. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a network issue or did I royally screw something up? Thanks!
im having the same problem i was using bamf sense 3.0 RC4 for a few days nd my mobile just stopped working. two days of flashing roms and radios i still got nothing verizon gave me a new sim nd still nothing i havent tried going back to stock, is that what i should do nd try to get a new phone? after trying to activate my phone online i have 1x now but i did have a few minutes of 3g/4g then nothing again HELP PLEASE!!!
I saw this same exact issue on Das BAMF Gingerstripped and it was really freaking annoying. The fastest solution was a reboot, but it was possible to wait it out until data comes back.
Another thing I started to play with before I flashed to CM7 was using Plane mode as a way to re-engage Mobile Networks (3G + 4G) to get data back. It worked sometimes, but other times nothing. So far running about 24 hours on CM7 and have not had this issue yet, where as on Gingerstripped BAMF I was seeing this problem daily.
I also just flashed the newest radio (1.70) and will see how that works. I'm hoping I just don't see this issue again at all, don't care if its due to CM7 or the radio. I just don't want to deal with it anymore.
Going to airplane mode and back didn't do anything. I guess its a problem with my phone then.
After disabling LTE completely, my phone works perfectly on 3G. Does anyone else in LA have 4G issues? I've flashed a bunch of roms and radios to no avail. I just want to know if I should keep tinkering or sleep on it. Thanks!

try going to a verizon store and see if their 4G devices work properly. at least that'll let you know if the network has issues.
ZIP = 90024
I've had no problems with 4g in northwest LA today. I'm Vanilla Bean's latest release on a froyo radio (can't remember which one, but it isn't the one that was leaked today)
I'm in ZIP 90007 and what's been happening is my phone seems to be connecting to 4G, but it doesn't work and just sits there. =\
It was stolen by Mexicans.

i got 4g in 91745....all day long..today at least
oh yeah...i'm running bamfsense3.0 rc4 with the latest radio.
Hey guys, i was helping some friends root their phones (galaxy s II and Evo 3D) and we couldn't get the wireless tethering app to work. I then checked my phone just for kicks and giggles, (Evo 4g which has been rooted and my tethering was previously working) and now it wont tether as well, most the time my computer will see the network but when it connects says it doesn't have internet access. The reason im posting this here is because it seems to be happening to multiple devices now, are providers blocking tethering now? whats the deal anyone having similar issues?
Same here bro, but on my evo and my girls optimus, and we both had tethering working and were using regularly. The only thing I can think of that changed was we upgraded to the newest radios last time we switched roms. Not at all an expert, you think that might have something to do with the problem?

Im not sure, i think it may have something to do with networks getting smarter... ie, sprint verizon att etc. are they maybe blocking it you think? Ive noticed it on all three of those carriers.
Companies like lg are always trying to break/kill root with every update, so I think if they could they probably would. Tethers a powerful tool that everybody wants, and most have now for free. That's alot of lost revenue.

What carriers are you two using? I just tested my tethering on AT&T and it's working fine running unnamed on my SGSII
not working on a recently rooted galaxy s II for att..
not working on a recently rooted htc evo 3d for sprint...
was working for the lognest time just check my htc evo 4g and not working on that now for some reason.
ive tried barnacle and wireless tethering...
Question, are the ones having the issue on rooted stock rom? I know the thunderbolt rooted running stock rom has the tethering stop working. I'm on cm 7 so the carrier apk that checks for that is not in cm7. I still tether my Xoom daily.
If you are just using one of the programs from the market it may be a build issue, On one of my Evos I had an issue that made it so that only one of the programs worked and it only worked in pre-build 010 other then that it never worked until I flashed MikFroyo.
Just for kicks I checked to see if tethering is still working from the unlocked sprint hotspot and it is fine on my hardware 004 evo 4G
Wireless tethering is a b---- to get working on an EVO 3D (CDMA). Barnacle and Wireless Tether worked when I was using my Temp Root, but not with 4G turned on.
I fully rooted, and then I couldn't find the wireless tethering apps in the market any more! I hadn't backed them up with Titanium! However, I found the APKs elsewhere, installed them and still had problems (either they wouldn't work or I couldn't get 4G to work). Long story short, I upgraded Wireless Tether to 2.0.2 and the screen resolution is wrong, but I can do 3G and 4G wireless tethering!
However, the first time I tested my 4G tethering speed, I got only 2Mbps. I tried it again and got 1Mbps. Tested once more and got less than 1Mbps. So it's not perfect.

I havent done anything to my phone lately and besides just having roms on it...so i my 3g and 4g data is now gone and i get 1x signal. The signal alternates from 1x to no signal at all. This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457659 is what i got on my phone right now and i got the radios installed and i still get 1x. At one point 3g showed up, but its really slow. So my question is, how can i fix this network problem?
ps. i have been struggling with this for 2 weeks and ive decided to try and fix it, but no luck
edit: ive taken the battery out and luck either, i also found a thread on how to fix the problem but it didnt help
i too have had this problem for 5 days now. i have been thinking of flashing the phone again to see if it would fix it.
Well i got some signal now, i went ahead and just added another ROM. I get signal every now and then, but i think i would have been better off with just constant 1x signal, instead of having no signal at all then some 3g coverage (really slow for some reason).
I just rooted my girlfriend's Thunderbolt last night and I'm having this same issue.
I had to roll back her latest OTA update and go back to 2.11.605.0 and then run Revolutionary. Since I rolled back her software, though, I've had the 1x signal issue. I assumed that installing the new ROM would fix this (BAMF Forever 1.10).
I've installed BAMF after using Superwipe, and everything runs smoothly. It's a great ROM. However, I can't get anything above 1x signal.
I've done the trick using ##778 and changing the Rev. A setting...no dice (and from what I've read, this is better in areas with no 4G. I live in Brooklyn, so I definitely want the 4G LTE).
I've tried the MR4 radio released just a few days ago, the radio from 2.11.605.9 OTA, and the MR3 radio. Same problem. I guess I'm going to try out the remaining radios I haven't touched, but I honestly don't think that will do anything.
Does anyone have any suggestions??

Ok I take this all back, she tells me her phone now reads 4g lte with full service. Looks like jumping across a few cell towers did the trick.

have you tried using different radios? This solved my issue. I had to go though 3 radios to find the right one, but it worked.

I searched the forums first, so sorry if I couldn't find a solution first.
Rooted, unlocked photon 4g. Currently running build 3.13 of cm7.2 through kang and the photon dev team. Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1456298
Since I can't post in that thread, I guess I have to ask here.
I'm experiencing slow data speeds over 3g. Everything else on the phone works fine, like mms and calls, and web over wifi. I'm not in a 4g area. I tried calling sprint for an msl, and neither given worked.
Background: Ran rooted for a while on an old revision, then jumped into an unlock and right into CM7.2.
Baseband: N_0.1.28.07R
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 joker-cm7-alpha
build: 4.5.1a-a_sun-198-6
Any tips for improving the 3g speed? Thanks.
Maybe try the 3g turbocharger script? And that's weird that both msl didn't work. I always thought you only got one specifically to your number.

I've been using GrooveIP as an alternative to Tmobile WiFi calling. I relied heavily on Tmobile wifi calling because the reception in my home is terrible. GrooveIP works, but there's a delay in the audio that's really impossible to tolerate. Does anyone know a way to install tmobile wifi calling on the note? Is there an APK out there that might work? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
I'm using this ICS rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1581065
on Tmobile with the ICS Telus modem
Thanks.

also interested in this.
i also made a thread a little while back never got anywhere...would like to see this
Tmobile wifi calling is mostly broken on ICS in the form that we would need it for this rom. We would need to use a GAN based wifi calling, the only phone slated to get ICS that uses GAN wifi calling is the sensation 4g from tmobile. Im not sure if the ICS update for that will bring GAN based wifi calling or IMS based wifi calling. Either way its going to be a headache to get it running. As soon as they update the sensation 4g to ICS ill start messing around with it, and for anyone else that though maybe the one S ics roms may have some answers, just know that the one s uses an IMS based wifi calling. GAN uses kineto and IMS uses movial. im pretty sure thats how it goes anyway.
Bump...any new developments for this feature?
Another gratuitous bump.
the issue is the kernel until source gets here nothing can be done about this at all... wait till the source gets released
Ive always wanted wifi calling on the Galaxy Note but with AT&T..im not sure if its possible. I did see a thread about it but i know like the guy above said it has too do with the kernel..or maybe the framework-res.apk
I would love to resolve the issue it is you are having as well as mines.
If only there were a magic box with all of our answers Lol
