Droid X2 XDA Wiki! - Motorola Droid X2

Heyo,
With Alucard103's rom roundup page, I decided to make a generic page as the one-stop-shop for newbs. No one created a DX2 XDA wiki page. So I took the time tonight to take the DX1 layout and updated it with everything that I thought would be useful for new people.
You should be able to edit it as long as you have a XDA account so feel free to update as necessary. This is good since we don't have to rely on one person to update the top post of their threads.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Motorola_Droid_X2
I dunno how to get it on the XDA wiki front page so this is the only link for now.
Thanks,

I Could Be Wrong, But Isn't The Chipset Daytona Not Cortex?

Added some stuffs and created a stock image. Also added a link from the main page.

Yeah I'm not sure. The one error that eric found is still an error in the regular open wiki page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorola_Droid_X#Droid_X2) that I copied most of the information. I don't think anyone has really kept a good historical record of our phone so any updates are great.

Updated 8/30/2011
Updated Wiki 8/30/2011... Please review for correctness...
There are so many themes and good mods now. Waiting on more ROM options but I can be patient with these themes and mods. I feel like the DX2 community is going in the right direction.
Let's do our part to keep newb posts down and keep the wiki up-to-date.
Thanks,

Fascinate system dump available

http://www.androidcentral.com/verizon-samsung-fascinate-ringtones-wallpaper
We got hold of it over at Android Central, figured you guys might like a head start.
Enjoy
Someone needs to download this ASAP!!
Looking through the jupiter.xml file shows that Samsung is still using the www.spirent-lcs.com SUPL server setting. How long will it take for them to realize that it does not exist.
STICKY!
Can someone please STICKY this thread? I can't count how many times I've linked people to the system dump because they deleted something they shouldn't have. It's starting to get annoying.
We need a cdma galaxy tab system dump. That email app is sick.

Thanks for this link! For users getting to the post around the same time as me, the original link posted from the hyperlink in this forum is no longer available, make sure your dig through the thread to find the 2 mirrors that are still currently working.
If anyone can enlighten me to the rules about posting hyperlinks and downloads in this forum that would be great. I would like to mirror this download directly for this forum.

I apologize for that. Unfortunately, Motorola did not like the fact that I was helping their customers update the phones that they wouldn't, and after the C&D letters were ignored they had my entire 4-Shared account removed.
tl,dr; -- motorola's fault.

No, All my systems dumps, for just about every device released were deleted when Motorola had my account closed. The Fascinate dump was one of them.
Ah, I see. My bad, man

and now we know why I don't own a Droid X...
Too bad users of other manufacturers devices got caught in Motorola's crossfire. The OG Droid enthusiast community pretty much single handedly saved Motorola's phone division and just over a year later this is how they repay their loyal fans?
What's worse is it looks like HTC might follow Motos lead. Let's hope not. I'm happy with my Fascinate for now, but want to have other choices from other manufacturers that aren't pure evil. Thus far Samsung has been more incompetent than evil (reference to them posting kernel source that won't compile)
EDIT: Sorry for my rant. I'm a former Motorola fanboi dealing with abandonment issues.

Excitement! OFFICIAL "THANK THE DEVS" THREAD (AOSP threads discussion) +others
"OFF TOPIC" discussion welcome here
Latest thread regarding AOSP builds here :: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1393779
PLEASE :: NO SPECULATION ON KERNELS, BOOTLOADERS, CPU OVERCLOCK, ETC.. IN THAT THREAD.(((if u must ask something similar to that do it here. But be weary. As those questions have been answered countless times lately so a quick skim thru the pages will get u an answer. Don't get mad at somebody if they get frustrated at you for asking about the danged kernel/bootloader ))
Please keep it uncluttered by thanking/discussing related.posts here in this thread
Okay I just wanted to start this thread since I know im not the only one DIEING to express my excitement for the work going on with 2nd init.
It seems we have ourselves some VERY dedicated devs working on this. Even dragonzkiller stopping in here and there to add info and help out.
that thread has been very fun to read
Especially since it is almost empty of posts like this clogging it up LOL
So I wanted to give a spot for anyone reading that thread to come and express how they're feeling so we can hopefully leave that think tank thread nice and neat with informative posts only and none of these "thanks! Keep it up" posts. THAT is what this thread is for so please keep em here. I am sure the devs working on this will stop in now and again to see how everyone is feeling.
PLEASE THANK THEM BY POSTING HERE.
OR BY PRESSING THANKS BUTTON TO THEIR POSTS IN THINK TANK THREAD as requested by them. Please don't go there and post "thanks"
So who else is excited as hell?!
12/5/11 EDIT::
I am noticing MORE & MORE off topic posts and "thanks this is great" popping up in the 2nd init /AOSP part2 threads.
I edited the title to make it pretty obvious what thus thread is for.
PLEASE EVERYONE ----ANY DISCUSSION THAT ISN'T DEV RELATED(this includes "yay kernels, bootloader comments, let's hack it" IS MUCH BETTER SUITED IN THIS THREAD.
P.S. --- it would be REALLY awesome to see the posts unrelated to the dev in those threads to get edited away to "de clutter" so that others aren't so inclined to respond to them adding more clutter. Thanks if u do this. And I will thank your posts as well after u edit out the clutter.
Im just hoping to see a nice smooth thread where we can see what's going on exactly without needing to "wade" through things looking for the devs posts. Thanks for your time.
And again...this is getting even better EVERY DAY. Im loving this.
Me for one! Thanks for the thread, great idea! Now we can talk about what's happening openly.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Well the progess that they are doing is GREAT I can't wait until it's complete. Only question which I didn't see in the other thread was that this 2nd int is to be a full functionality one that would allow the removal of the kernel and switch to a better one?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
thank you guys! you guys are freakin amazingg! keep up the awesome work!
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Im loving just watching these guys go back and forth on the irc...
And please if u come there to watch...try to keep the "chatter" down so they can focus...
If they ask something off topic or talk yo ya go ahead and respond....but when they are doing their things just sit back an enjoy
If ya wanna talk with someone while in the dx2 channel do a private query to them
Thanks
Nice they're in irc too. Every time I went in there nothing was happening.

I recommend going there..
And leaving a window open or just minimizing it and coming back to check.
When its quiet but they there they usually working on stuff...
Then all of sudden they start lighting it up wit a bunch of conversation ....then quiet again for a bit and so on...
Just very interesting stuff to read
Ash good job on making a different post for the average person to say thanks to these guys without filling their post with cludder. Everyone should just kick back and enjoy watching them work and say thank you here.
I might have to make an appearance in IRC tomorrow night.
Im glad that this is getting off of the ground. At least we can all see that the dev phone isnt going to waste. I'm never one to complain about waiting. I only complain when updates aren't being provided. So what if all of your attempts failed? At least we know you're trying!
Good work guys.
Sent from my Eclipsed and ICS themed X2.
Very excited on the work that is going on in that thread, gives us hope and possibly getting a port of ICS in the future since I highly doubt we will get an official update.
They got it working. They started a new thread on rom development. Thanks to our great devs!

And the excitement once again comes to the x2 dev forum....I feel like when we first got eclipse
Very exciting news!!! Im very grateful for all the devs & themers putting in their own time to make our misfit phone a better device. Still think this phone has lots if hidden potential just waiting to be released!!! Thanks again guys!
Thanks ash! I was gonna post and say "thanks for the hard work guys" in the thread, but felt that would've just clutter it up. Thanks guys!!!

I am super psyched to see developers working on this device. I have been following what devs like aceoyame have been doing on both droidforums.net and here. I finally created this account simply to thank the devs. However, I can not find the thanks button, weirdly. Anyway, here I am thanking all the developers for their efforts.
Great idea ash! Thanks to all the x2 devs!!!
Eclipse 1.3 RC
I love this community, and I can't wait to see what will be coming over the next couple of weeks. This is surely a great day for the Droid X2.
As far as I know, this 2nd-init will allow us to load custom kernels on top of the stock kernel as long as the boot sequence can be hijacked and told not to panic.. Only time will tell.

Developers: What source code did Motorola just release?

First of all, it doesn't look like ICS so calm down. I am not a developer but I'm subscribed to rss feeds to update me whenever Motorola releases source code. It still says Android 2.3.4 in the notes. So what is this?
http://sourceforge.net/projects/photon4g.motorola/files/PHOTON-KDDI (ISW11M)/4.5.1A-1_KDI-95_MR4-3/
What I really find interesting is that if you check out: http://sourceforge.net/projects/photon4g.motorola/files/ it says that both folders have been updated today, 10/5/12. However only one of these folders (the one I linked to above) has any updated files in it. Do you think Motorola is preparing to release source code?

Looks to just be the source for a minor Japanese(KDDI) Photon update.
Edit: Something new here actually, vendor-bcm-wimax.tar.gz does not appear to have been in any other releases
Edit2: There is a ton of stuff in this, I think this was not meant to be released, there is some stuff marked "confidential"
Edit3: Pretty sure someone is getting fired over accidentally posting this, tons of confidential stuff here. Ill post a mirror of it soon so they can't just take it down.

Awesome...:good: Hmm until we get some developer's actually dissecting the source I think we may need to keep a lid on it. Just in case it is an unintended leak and we don't kill off any further chance of getting more files or details, etc.

Your age does not matter. The point of the 10 posts is to force new members to read the rules, show that they can provide useful help, and learn to be useful members of the community. No one wants the dev threads cluttered. We all went through the 10 post restriction and expect new users to do the same. In fact, posting 10 nonsensical posts does not endear you to other users when you do need help.
You were warned by a user. You disregarded it. You were then warned by a mod. I advise that you now spend some time reading and learning about what is expected of users here before posting (hopefully more helpful information) next time.

Also I'm sure he'd appreciate any thanks you're willing to give. Everyone likes to know you are grateful for the work they do right?

First I have to say thanks to Captain Throwback for his commits otherwise this wouldn't be possible.
Ok so, this is basically just Cyanogenmod 11, built from source, with the commits for after the new partition layout, firmware upgrade.
I will be updating semi-regularly, maybe not nightly but at least once a week if I see people downloading it. If popularity increases, I will be more active on updates, and possible small changes such as additional apps, build.prop mods, and that kind of stuff.
Note: I am one man, not a team of developers. With a crappy internet connection. I don't know a whole lot but have some skills, but have no idea how to add/remove features and whatnot. That's not my area of expertise, but would like to have a few good people to fill in the gaps to make this a really nice ROM in the end. I will try to take requests, if I can do it, I will. This is for everyone in this community, so help me help you and we all will be happy.
This is an all-in-one ROM. I had issues flashing certain gapps packages, resulting in weird issues such as no SMS, so it seemed smarter to cut the hunt out for everyone else who just wants it to work great out of the box so to speak, thereby I already added the minimum gapps for the ROM to run smoothly. And everything seems fine as is.
Also, I have removed Gallery2.apk & Browser.apk, and they have been replaced by CMGallery.apk (aka GalleryNext), and Chrome.apk.
The gallery switch was just to stick to using as much CM code as possible, and Chrome was because I couldn't get the AOSP Browser to work for some weird reason yet to reveal itself to me. But it does make this ROM unique in its own way.
This should be easily upgradeable (dirty). I tried to make it to where you should not have to clean flash after the first install, but nobody's perfect.
DO NOT UPDATE OFFICIALLY AFTER THIS!!! CYANOGENMOD INC HAS NOT INCORPORATED THE NEW COMMITS TO THE BUILD YET!!!
I ONLY KEEP THE UPDATER TO CHECK FOR NOTABLE CHANGES WORTH MAKING THE NEXT BUILD FOR!!!
OK so here is the link to the ROM : (Not Uploaded yet)
If you support my work, please at the very least hit the thanks button.

Captain is right. I have been posting my builds with the new layout. They are easily found in my signature. The only thing that I did to it was applied Captain's commits for the new HBOOTS / partition layout. As such, I didn't think it merited a post under the "Original Development" section. I was keeping it under "Android Development", where Captain had it started.
