Did he try a recovery or battery pull?
Sent from my LTE 4G Thunderbolt
Didn't work
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Did he try to stick a stock image on the sd card so as soon as it boots it will see the PG05IMG and load it ?
Not trying to flame you, but what exactly caused this to happen? We need details to help you out!
What happens when you try to boot the phone not in Hboot?
Which directions did you follow to try to unroot?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009423 is this where you got your info from?
Is there an existing PG015img.zip on his sdcard that isn't a stock RUU file?
Post some more details so we can be sending you on your way
I'm not sure but it messed up
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Well my best advice would be to go here http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?t=2703 and download both files and follow the directions. If he can't boot the phone up to put the files on his SDcard then he is going to either get an SDcard reader or use someone else phone. The PG015img.zip has to be on the SDCard's root (in no subfolders) and it will flash in HBoot, after you flash the first file completely 100%, let it reboot and battery pull. Then delete the first PG015img.zip and put the second file on the SDcard's root renaming it to PG015img.zip and letting that flash through Hboot (you might have to press volume down and power to flash into Hboot this time) and let that file flash onto the phone. When it is all done, let the phone reboot, and you should be all set to go. Unrooted and back to the way it was out of box. DELETE THE PG015IMG.ZIP WHEN YOU'RE DONE! This whole process should take awhile (especially downloading the big RUU files. Post the results/if you or him need any additional help
If you are using a SDcard reader to put the files on the SDcard from a computer, if the computer does not list the file extention, DO NOT rename the files to "PG015img.zip" because the phone will read it as "PG015img.zip.zip" and won't flash the file. In this case, just make sure it is named "PG015img"

Haha I remember a year ago I was the clueless one, even though I never started threads stating my semi-bricked statuses. I hate to see new people getting flamed for asking questions. Its scary when you deal with your first boot loop, the last thing you want to hear when you ask a question is wise cracks and snide comments from the "Illuminatis" of XDA. We all sucked at one point. Simple enough

I used the easy root method, everything went fine. When I try to boot into recovery when the phone is off, it doesn't go into clockwork, it goes into hboot, or whatever its called. Then says something about Pg05diag , and then asks if I want to update. Not sure if that's normal. I can boot into recovery with Rom manger.

ok plug your phone into your computer. When the options comes up what to do, select disk drive. After you do this you will more than likely and i think definitely have auto play pop up one option will be open files and folders, click on that. once it loads hit cntrl-f and type in PG05IMG, which is what you are looking for. if its on your sdcard it will be there. if you find it right click and delete.
2 questions, first I forgot about removing PG05IMG, I went to do it after reading this and it is no where on my card, did I miss something? was it removed automatically by the easy root program? second, I want to flash a rom and I know we have to wipe first, I thought I read somewhere that wiping removed our root? Please correct me if I am wrong, I know just enough about code to make me "DANGEROUS"!!!!! Thank you in advance for your help I came from an X and am loving the TB. Just have to get used to doing things differently. (adb, sdk and so on)
Bit of a noob question here, as my ADB proficiency is a bit lacking... In the sticky titled "Return to stock properly and safely" the instructions refer to pushing a file called "misc.img," however, when I attempt this, it obviously finds no file with that title. I've downloaded the two files from the post and tried them both on the root of my drive and in the tools folder of the SDK, but with no luck. I'd like to unroot for the time being to compare rooted performance to stock performance (i'm sure I'll end up rooting again before long... I bore easily!) Any input from the pros would be welcome! Thanks!
I'm pretty sure you can just slap on the pg05 img onto your sd card, reboot into stock recovery and let it load..

sounds like you dont have your path set correctly if you placed it in the tools folder and it didn't push You could manually cd your sdcard or whichever location the misc.img file is placed in to push it if your path IS set correctly and I'm overlooking something...
you have to extract the misc file to your tools file

okay, so the other day i was removing apps on my rooted thunderbolt with root explorer and I got carried away and miss clicked deleted connecttopc.apk and i assume the index file (2 files). that are used connect my Thunderbolt to my pc (via usb - disk drive, charge only etc,) and i was going to see if someone would be nice and maybe upload the 2 files from their thunderbolt? Or guide me in the right direction to getting mine back?
i'm a noob
Thanks
Reflash the Rom you are using just don't wipe anything. You will have your files back and no data will be deleted. Just be careful what you delete in the future. You can also get these files from the Rom you flashed just unzip and locate them with search. Should be under system/app

Download the leaked rooted from development section. 2.11.605.5 and pull the files out from system/app and move them over to SD card with computer/usb or on phone with root explorer and use reinstall the apks.
Or just install the updated full ruu unrooted follow the directions on android police on how to flash ruu VIA Hboot.

its stock rooted. awesome man you helped out tons! i got the connect to pc.apk but it wouldn't allow me to "install" it so i think i'm just going to pull both of the files from the stock leaked rom and go from there!

Download directly to SD card using only your phone?
Must someone use a separate computer to download/extract/transfer a file to thier phone; or, is there an app or something that would allow someone to place the file (zip) onto the root of their sd card, without using a separate computer. I only ask; because I am running windows 7 on my laptop (can't seem to get the correct HTC drivers using windows 7, to recognize my phone), my work computer won't allow me to connect any outside devices, and my desktop is connected to my television (it's hard to fight off all the kids to get access).
It would be great if I could figure out how to download/place/rename the file(s) (zip) directly onto my sd card, using only my phone. Any ideas? I have been searing forums for weeks on end and this is my first post.

What they don't tell you is that you have to rename fastboot-mac to fastboot and go into terminal and set the permissions for fastboot for YOU to have access to. I spent about 3 hours last night dealing with this issue and am not on my laptop to give you direct link to instructions but if you google "how to get fastboot to work on mac" you should be able to find instruction on how to "sudo" fastboot.

Does it matter I use WINraR?
I have just been copying the .zip over to the SD.
Via an adapter to card reader and by leaving it in the amaze and loading it.... NO LUCK
does a quick scan after hboot screen appears with no image listed under every heading if that helps
download it (dont even open it) just drag it on your sdcard put in phone reboot into hboot
I am rooted on .21.
I backed up via RootKeeper and went ahead to install the update. On installation after rebooting, an android logo came up with a red triangle with an exclamation point in the middle.
My prime rebooted and I got a notification saying update failed and my firmware was restored back to .21 with my root intact.
Now when I check for an update, my Prime says no update was found. I have tried rebooting several times too.
Any ideas?
EDIT:
I am going to try the manual update on this manual:
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/EeePAD/TF201/e7203_TF201_Update_SOP.pdf
Remember to unzip and add the zip that you unzipped to the Micro SD.

Okay. So, I was having the same issue. I redownloaded the US version and put on root of my microsd card with same result. Now I was getting frustrated. Just for sh1tz and giggles, I put a copy of the firmware in the root of my sdcard (i left the original in the root of my microsd card also). I then took the microsd card out and put back in. This time i got the triangle notification in the lower right corner notifying me of the update as usual. I pressed on the triangle and it showed TWO files! I picked the latest one by time and date because that is the one I put in the SDCARD root location and....wait for it.....VOILA....it worked. Don't ask me why!

I downloaded the US firmware, put it on my micro SD root, my /sdcard folder, my / folder, and still nothing. Even after rebooting. What could be the problem?
Plus checking for update yields nothing.
See root posts, SparkyM3 has fixed that. Rooted just fine.

I already did a hard reset, no luck
You have to unzip the download which should contain another zip, that zip goes onto your internal or micro SD card.
Problem Solved
I found the problem. You need to unzip the manual update file first and you'll get another zip file. Put that into your microSD card and then you should see the new firmware detected icon.
Problem has to do with the fact that we edited something in the system files I believe.
Once you update it to .28 You'll need this to root again
More information on the issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707362&page=1
Hope this helps!
From failed .28 update to SUCCESS! (But now must reroot)
Downloaded the update manually from support.asus.com (enter tf201 and find ur appropriate version... For me US), and download it to your removable/external microsd card. Extract it to the root directory of the card, and rename it to EP201_SDUPDATE.zip (***if u don't see the .zip extension, don't add it - this means the file manager you're using doesn't display extensions, and if you add ".zip" the filename will end up as EP201_SDUPDATE.ZIP.ZIP which won't work)
Once you have the file extracted, renamed, and in the right place, hold down "volume down" + power, and dont let go until it reboots AND you see text at the top of the black screen... Then press "volume up" within 5 seconds to install the update. You should see the "Andy with blue nuclear fission ball" animation as the update runs.
Now go find the .28 root method, reroot, and party on.
Btw, I found this in the "bricked after update to .28" thread, but it works for failed updates as well. Hope this helps.
YOU NEED TO UNZIP THE INITIAL .ZIP YOU DOWNLOAD. THE FILE YOU NEED WILL NOT HAVE UPDATELAUNCHER IN THE NAME! Inside of that is the .zip you want. You can unzip that or not. I can confirm it works both ways.
Put the .zip within a .zip on the root of /Removable/microsd/ or /sdcard/ . Safely remove you sd, then reinsert if you choose to use your removable card. I did not have to reboot.

I'm glad people found out our mistakes! I went a little different route and did this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622628
I did Method 2 since I did a hard reset desperately. I will now re-root using this:

I am rooted on .21.
I backed up via RootKeeper and went ahead to install the update. On installation after rebooting, an android logo came up with a red triangle with an exclamation point in the middle.
My prime rebooted and I got a notification saying update failed and my firmware was restored back to .21 with my root intact.
Now when I check for an update, my Prime says no update was found. I have tried rebooting several times too.
Any ideas?
EDIT:
I am going to try the manual update on this manual:

Remember to unzip and add the zip that you unzipped to the Micro SD.
I got impatient and did Method 2 on this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622628
And since I lost root because I was reckless: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706588
I hope this thread helped everyone. I can now say it is solved!
