[Q] Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 vs HTC HD2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is the best smartphone between Galaxy and HD2??

Your joking, right?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App

Just check launch date of both devices and you will figure it out yourself

I had a HD2 for about 20 months and used Android on it for nearly a year. I used most of the stock ROMs that were available, and usually plumped for Nexus 1 ROMs, as I really like the pure Android experience.
So basically, I've had a fair amount of experience with running Android as a daily OS on a HD2. I LOVED my HD2 and was VERY sad to see it go. Anyway, back to your question...

Galaxy S2. Hands down. No competition.

Right now the Galaxy s 2 is technically the best Android phone, and arguably the best phone period.

yea...HTC HD2 was sort of **** last year so I never purchased it...plus it had Windows on it LOL...Desire was **** 6 months ago so its gone and Desire HD was **** 3 months so its gone...HELLO SGSII!!!

HD2 wins in the development aspect. but hardware wise SGS2 wins hands down...
lets hope that with the amount of sales SGS2 is getting, the amount of people developing for it can reach HD2's amount (a man can wish right lol )

HD2 can run android, wm6.5, wp7, meego, linux, and etc...... lol its just missing the hardware aspect.

Still have both: HD2 as a backup-phone and now SGS II as main phone.
Once in a while I still work on HD2 and am always shocked how SLOW this is whereas when I bought it some 2 years ago I thought it was lightning fast......

Is SGSII T-Mobile?, is it out in stores?

I still love my hd2 but this person cannot be serious.

Go for the hd2 dude! Its 50 times faster!

best thread ever )
how about googling the specs of each phone before asking which one is better??

Goodbye O1 and O1 Community

It has been an amazing experience for me here since December 2010. About two months back I saw an ad for Samsung focus with super amoled at eBay.in at about rs.13000. Just could not resist and bought one.
As the super amoleds in android were price higher than rs.20000, I gave in to this deal. Mango 7.5 was also expected to come to this phone. I received my Samsung focus on 23 rd September. MS released mango on 27th September. Updated right away.
Mango with Samsung focus is truelly awesome. OS and screen are super sensitive. Facebook integration is awesome. Zune, email, office..mango has them all. Only thing missing me is any equalizers.
Sold my optimus one and Samsung spica 4 weeks back.
Was missing android a little bit. Came across a good deal of HTC flyer tablet on koovs.com. Bought one. Quite enjoying my flyer and focus.
Thanks to Mik, Andy, Francisco, Ciaox and others. They made my last year enjoyable. Maybe, I will come across many of O1 people on other threads as they will also continue to move on.
Thanks to all.

you are obviously oblivious to the other posts. the fact that others have posted shows that there are those who care.
it is quite amazing how hardly any of your posts are helpful. they are just outright mean and negative. i'd be surprised if no one added you to their ignore lists. with that said, i just added you to it, and that's saying something since you are the only one on it. and with that in mind, don't bother replying to this post because i won't be able to see the negative comment you would have made. you are like doktornotor except you have contributed nothing to this forum.
@lehkwani, sorry i had to say that in your thread. it is just that this guy thinks he is the ****. well back on topic, it has been nice having you around and have fun with your new phone!

Sold it for rs.5700 at a local shop. I had bought it in December 2010 for rs. 12000. But now its easily available for rs.7700. By law of logic, after every year prices are getting halved for each devices, as companies look forward to come up with new devices and phase out the old ones. Whatever we are buying today in this tech world, will be available for half after a year. Flyer was launched for rs.36000 about eight months back. ( 32 gb, WiFi + 3g ). Bought it for rs. 20000 from koovs.com a week back.

[Q] A used S2 over a HTC One S?

I was just about to pre-order the HTC One S for $600 bucks but then I started to look at used S2's and I've seen them in mint condition for $350-$400.
Are everyone out there happy with CM9 / ICS on their S2s? Should I punt on the HTC One S for a used S2?
Get the S2. If you want new device get the S3 next month.

After one year with the SGS2 I don't think I will buy Samsung anymore. don't get me wrong, the sgs2 is great hardware wise and touchwizz isn't all that bad (well the launcher is, horizontal scrolling, seriously who thought of that!? but there are plenty of replacements) but it just doesnt feel as polished as sense
i'd say go for it. mates got a htc one and its so f**kin hideous. seriously, its like it has downs. i can't believe some places are asking £41.00 per month and 29.00 down for the handset...a complete piss take.

im a proud owner of galaxy s2 . . honestly i would suggest you to buay one S you know . newwer hardware better astetics on the handset itself . . but this super AMOLED just blow any other screen . . ive compared my galaxy s 2 screen with xperia s's 720p-bravia-engined-screen . . and the owner of this phone still admit that super amoled just look sharper and more colorful . . despite the lower resolution.
sooo just wait for galaxy s3 it will blow away anything on the market . . im sure about that
ow shoot i forgot ONE s use super amoled too -,- but the pentlie one
I will answer for what I surly know.
And...
I was never satisfied about cm9 nor cm7 when comparing to the stock.
of curse cm good if you sacrifice some features. BUT if you want full hardware and softwar harmony, the stock is waaaay better.
if you want to be happy with cm9 you should get galaxy nexus because it's the only device trule open source.

If you're just going to slap cm9 on it then get the gs2.
got 200 more get ONE S it is faster if you want speed.
wait few months for SIII but will be 300+ more
cm9 works perfect for my needs, its only in development so it will be getting better by days..
one S is now as slim and light as S2.
should have better camera.
research!

Also, the 1080p video capture from the S2 looks great.

So... You suggest it because it's cheap, but if you read the op he says assuming money isn't a factor so.. Your argument is void

My amaze 4G broke. Screen, but works fully.
I have to say I FUC*ING HATE IT AND WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER BUY HTC AGAIN!!! .. btw, EVER.
Money being no object......Buy multiple Amaze's, root them and put Nitemare 1.6 on them and then sell the ones you dont need at a profit.
My Sensation was completely awesome, I bet you can get one for a good price. Too bad I broke it and had to get the Amaze.
The sensation is basically the Amaze except half as thick, lighter, better looking, better battery, better development, screen was great, and it was overall just awesome.
The Amaze is a huge downgrade, it's so glitchy, heavy, thick and ugly and the customization rom-wise is very weak.
If you can get the sensation for a good price I highly recommend it.
I think it was one of the revolutionary phones, and set the standard for other droids to date.
But that's just my opinion. If I had a choice I would have the Sensation right now over any phone, even the GS3.
Get an HTC One S! Or unlock and get a ONE X+

Money being no object, the Nexus 4 is the universal recommendation we can make (pentaband 3G like the Amaze). I'm assuming you're in the USA, so keep an eye next week when Verizon will reveal the Droid DNA, which looks like to be HTC's second superphone of 2012, after the One X series.

Why not the HTC one x+ that should be an amazing phone and probably better than sgs3 and definitely a lot more beautiful. Although sgs3 is an amazing phone software and hardware wise to me it looks ugly and again feels cheap when I held it one x+ sports better specs and keeps in mind aesthetics along with premium quality just not sure why many people aren't suggesting it and suggesting an inferior device (sgs3) especially when price is not a factor and if it was nexus 4 would be the best choice so either way sgs3 is now more hype than anything now that there are better phones on the market

No removable battery, no memory expansion, 1gb ram. And... Tegra processor? Eh. I guess that's 'better'. The s4 chip can handle anything I've used it for quite smoothly, if I was going quad core I'd go with something s4 pro. Also some people prefer to have a settings button on the phone, I know I do. Plus all the red tape from HTC rgd development and such. Good development community over at the sgs iii. You asked, I answered I've not held the one x+ granted, I was not impressed with the feel of the one s. And considering the one x+ is almost the same dimensions as the gs iii I gotta say the feel of the gs iii grows on ya haha. But anyway just my opinion.

[Q] How long do you think the HTC One will be relevant for?

Just curious. Since the innovation in the smartphone industry has slowed down and the devices are becoming more and more capable, phones seem to be lasting longer and are able to run the latest OS's and software for much longer. For example, the 2 year old Galaxy S2 is still a very capable smartphone and runs 4.2.2 on CM very well. For the average user, it still runs everything you can throw at it. Same with the HTC Sensation.
So that makes me think, how long do you think the HTC One will be relevant for? Could it still be a very capable smartphone 2 years from now? 3?
Two years easy. The hardware is great and as long as the software is updated you should have no problems

I agree. The HTC One is around 80% as powerful as the MacBook Pro that I use and have used for the last 4 years (2700 in geekbench vs 3300). I think we're getting to the point that PC's hit around 06, where each generation between hardware is marginal for the average user. Heck, computers are still being sold that are less powerful than the HTC One.
I think the current gen and next gen will finally hit that point where we will stop seeing such drastic improvements.
So for the HTC One to last for two years? I do feel it will.

my G2 lasted barely 1.5yr from when I first got it. that single core phone was just way too slow for my taste and the camera sucked. i tried a few custom roms on it but all had that lag i couldnt stand. been using a htc one s for a year now and so far it's okay but im itching to move up to the one.
Hard to say how long it will be relevant especially if the rumors are true that T-Mobile will not be selling it anymore are true. If that is the case then probably just 6 months

Yeah it is sad to see, but Samsung is a monster when it comes to marketing budgets they had a slim chance to compete. I hope they pull through and continue pushing samsung and other Android devices to their limits. I have high hopes for this company
I also worry that articles like this will only hurt... people who are on the fence will read that and go with Samsung...
Personally I think they are going in the right direction getting rid of dead weight and poor performers.

I don't see the company going down. I believe they will do fine in the long run, they're just having a bit of a rough spot.
The HTC One is selling well. From here on out they should be fine.
If not Samsung will probably buy them out and HTC can design the phone while Samsung focuses on the guts.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, I'd get the lumia 925 or 928 if it had android, 920 is too much of a brick.

Agreed. I've always had good experiences with call and signal quality with Nokia, from the 6820 and other TDMA phones back in the late 90s and early 00s to the Symbian-based stuff from a while back. If they put some quality Android-based phones together and offered them with a decent custom interface (like Sense) and unlocked, I think they'd make a pretty strong showing.

Ha, I have its big brother the Nokia 6800. That's not a typo, I still have it right here on my desk
I couldn't help but thinking that I have this power to kill phone manufacturers.
My first cell phone back in the mid 90s was the Siemens S3+ and then briefly the S4 (I bet not a lot of people here even know that Siemens used to make cell phones).
After that, I had a couple of Ericsson phones, the GH 337 and the GF 788 (you know how that story ends, they were swallowed by Sony, and then dumped).
Right after that, I became a huge Nokia + Symbian fanboy, the 6800, 6620, N80, E51, E63, E75 (and look at what happened to Nokia and Symbian).
Then three years ago I bought a Dell Streak (the first android phone with 5" screen that nobody really knows about. the following year, Dell stopped making phones).
Finally last week I got myself an HTC One. Look out HTC!!

The HTC One is selling well. From here on out they should be fine.
If not Samsung will probably buy them out and HTC can design the phone while Samsung focuses on the guts.

I mostly agree with your statement, but I believe it will take more than one flagship to get them turned around and charging towards the front. Maybe after 1 or 2 more flagship they will really be doing well. I just can't see one phone having enough time to turn an entire company around. Especially after they bombed out hard with the HTC First. That was a huge mistake for them to try and even sell that phone.

What does this mean for us? If anything?

It means that there will be a vanilla htc one or one like device and because of that the devs will (hopefully) be able to make aosp/aokp roms with very few to no bugs at all. Basically it's makes the job easier for the devs and the experience better for us.

Ever since I switched to Android, all I had were Samsungs...this is my first HTC android device and Im loving it so far. So to read articles about HTC and the tough times they're having is saddening. Samsung is the Apple of androids...the galaxy line is well known which is both bad and good. I really hope the HTC One can and will save this company because we need beautiful phones in the variety of androids. I like having choices!

Well lets hope that doesn't happen. We need both company and not just one.

Idk about all of you but I see a heck of a lot of S4s on Craigslist and not too many HTC Ones. Craigslist has been a great indicator for me in the past. I got this one for a note 2 and am glad I got out of Samsung when it is where I believe is at the top before a fall.
