I am a Motorola Xoom user, and wanted to see how well the Photon works with its accessories. What do you think

Very cool. I need to upgrade my laptop for school and this might be an option.
I know this is an old thread, but by doing this, are you able to use the xoom dock as a charger and speaker as well?
My Xoom dock does not charge my electrify, Haven't tried to use it for webtop, or anything really, but before I got my dock for the electrify I did try it on the xoom dock and no charging went on. Didn't even think to try the xoom dock for speakers and hdmi though, maybe I'll give it a shot.

Went to the Verizon store today and had the store reps put my Photon into a Lapdock. Worked just fine. plug and play. the only thing, which is also the obvious thing, the Photon hung off the right side about a third of the phone. =)
I think I will wait for a bit till the prices fall.
Great find! Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks. I hope they start selling refurb units in the next coming months, or possible even coming out with one for the Photon.
Its nice to have options now!

If that's the case than the Webtop Adapter will work (more than likely). Which is a cheaper way of doing the Webtop.

Why would you waste your money on that adapter when all you have to do is root and do the Webtop over HDMI hack ? That Webtop Adapter has got to be the joke of the year as far as rip-offs go...
Can someone post some pics?
So if the photon hung of the dock side did it expose the front camra so you could use it for video chat?

Works with multiple motorola phones including the photon.
Nice! Skimmed through but any info on pricing? 200 dollars and it would seem like a great deal. Any more and someone might as well get a regular laptop lol

Exactly, I know the price gonna be high as hell. $200 or less would be great though.
will be classified as tethering?
A little more info here

hmmm... do these units have an HDMI out or is the only way to connect the phone up to my LCD screen is to have a dock or an HDMI hack?
it would be sick if they had an hdmi out and we could run the lapdock screen and extend to a monitor, but then again i bet the graphics hardware does not support this.
but i see that is says comes with 2 USB ports. guessing this would mean we can connect a usb keyboard or mouse? would USB storage sticks be supported?
im curious how the hardware and drivers would behave when connected to the lapdock from these units. does the drivers load to the lapdock or phone or what events take place here?
I hope Motorola sees this post and thinks about the user. hdmi out please.
Either way, I'm am happy this is coming out...my mopho is gonna be complete with this!

i stand corrected on my previous post apparently there is a dock behind the screen
http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/U...ccessories/Docking-Stations/Lapdock-100-US-EN
It was mentioned in one of the posts elsewhere that it also has a wifi radio. Although I can't confirm that.
Edit:
AHA, I knew i saw it mentioned somewhere...
In a bid to make the new LapDock more useful, the new version also includes a built-in Wi-Fi N radio in order to use it more effectively without relying on the phone’s data connection

Thanks for the post. Just watched the video on my Photon. Wow, great quality picture on the phone. What can't this phone do? Lol.
Posted on another thread, but I saw a video somewhere where the Motorola person showcasing the device said it will be around $250.

According to the 2011 Fall CTIA Convention, at the Sprint booth, you are correct. The Motorola representavive said that it will be available at the Sprint Store for around $250.
Please join the Motorola Photon fan group on XDA. See my signature for details.
And once again, as usual, they couldn't make the plug on the cable so that it fits a phone WITH a case on. If I have to remove my case to use the lapdock, then forget it, I won't be buying it.

I haven't decided but I would have been on board for around 150....do I really wanna go an extra 100 is the main question.

Yep...way too expensive for just a "dumb" terminal. Personally I would rather have something I can plug my phone into and turn it into a tablet. Then would have larger touchscreen that can have keyboard/mouse added to it. More functional in my opinion. Guess if I was traveling a lot it would be nice to have.

Try a different TV, other Android video out ports haven't played nicely with certain hdmi inputs in the past.
Got mine. Works well except it didn't bypass what I hoped it would. I thought maybe on an HTC, the NFL Mobile app would not shut off the HDMI out for live content. Turns out, it still does. Booooooo!
I want Red Zone without having to buy Sunday Ticket. Does anyone know if this can be solved via root or does the NFL Mobile app pretty much hose you no matter what?
Got a different rezound from Verizon and now it works. No sound through hdmi though just picture?

Hey ports in irc just tipped me off to this so all credit goes to him just figured id share. posting this in general because some people may see it and consider it rather than the 2-3 people that straggle into the accessories section
ok its on att's site for 299 with an online discount of 250 free 2 day shipping and 15 for overnight.

its the atrix dock for 50 bucks, there is a thread (ill see if i cant find it) that details on how to open it up and swap the ports around, as by default it wont fit the photon. but here is a chance to get a brand new lapdock that with minor modifications can fit your phone. sprint sells the photon one for 250, ebay has teh atrix dock for 150-200 used..
Nice Find!!
EDIT: I believe this is the link you are referring too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223032&highlight=lapdock

No idea. I know you have to do the modification of the ports so they line up with the Photon's.
Maybe someone that has it/has used it will chime in.
Here is another good deal. Even comes with the necessary cables.
