[Q] Root / flash guide (complicated due to multi region stuff) - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi XDA,
this is my first post, sorry if this sounds a bit spammy, I'm at a loss for how to root and flash for my X10 and hoping someone can help me finally get everything sorted...
I bought my phone in Australia second hand, unlocked from a carrier, but with bloatware out the wahzoo... to make matters more complicated, I now live in Germany.
I have tried to root and flash my X10 on a number of occasions, following the advice found here, but have not been able to get it working due to weird combinations of carrier restrictions, region variations and general lack of experience. It appears as though there are at least 8 different OS versions for the Xperia X10 (or is it X10i?) and I don't even know which mine is.
Can someone please point me in the right direction? I have tried ~5 methods found here and have always encountered an unknown error that doesn't seem to occur for other users...
Thanks!

First, do you have SEUS and Update Service from SE installed on your computer? You need these two software for the drivers for the phone, otherwise Flashtool would not be able to do anything.

[Q] Help with uninstalling, deleting application - Titanium

Hello everyone!
I recently rooted by phone and now I've been trying to remove the Vodafone bloat-ware from my handset using the titanium application. Unfortunately after so-called uninstalling, the application still remains, why can it be trashed?
The crap strikes back..
You either got to DEBRAND or FLASH to generic to get rid m8, Its vodaphones firmware, but just debrand (i did have a vodaphone x10 until I exorcised the daemon) update to RB2A026, and root, get rid of all the crap, or just debrand and lose the vodaphone crap, but be left with sony ericssons crap lol

Would reflashing the phone with SEUS do the job? Or would i need to achieve this some otber way, sorry I'm not entirely sure how. Is there a tutorial?
Thanks you.
The crap strikes back
If you go back a page you will see some links to forum threads, read these, for flashing you will need to have java6 21 (32bit) runtime enviroment (JRE) and java6 21 (32bit) development kit (JDK) installed on your pc (fbrlashing wont work on 64bit OS unless you have them as it doesnt work on 64bit version) when you done that find the thread NEWBIES GUIDE TO ROOT GIVING YOU THE LATEST FIRMWARE, you will only need the first file (this will flash you generic uk rf16 firmware and as such its standard, no vodaphone crap, after that use SEUS to update to R2BA026 and ySeaou can root this, theres a video on one of the threads that shows how to set up the path for the java.
But be aware this voids your warranty, just take time to read the threads ive linked and the NEWBIE THREAD, any q's just ask
heres the link to thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755332
Thanks for the help fellas.
I don't worry about the warrenty thing - one could always claim/demand a replacement if anything should happen to this one. Ain't that why we insure our mobiles?
Anyway, I've managed to debrand my phone by using this tutorial in Win7, took a couple of goes (it's all about timing) then updated the firmware without all the bloatware (only SE stuff) and so far the phone seems to be happy. Now, I'm just about to re-root the phone and take out all the useless crap I don't use before I install the stuff that's actually useful
Curious. Why can't service providers, provide us with mobiles, like they left the facory? I mean, seriously, who actually uses all that crap?? Ain't it like buying a PC laptop and doing a new install minus all the bloat?
Hey guys.. Since updating to 026 I've notice something a little odd, though it doesn't affect the physical workings of the phone.
Under the notifications tab, my mobi always report there's "no service", yet the signal indicator is on max (four bars) !!! The phone continues to work.
Anyone else notice this??

[Q] Rooting not good for all phones?

I recently had a lot of updating problems after rooting my phone and deleting some unwanted applications. The supposed method of un-rooting which is to use Update Service or PC companion to repair or re-install the software back to its original state does not work for everyone. In fact, there are lots of folks I discovered trolling through different forums who experience the same hazards. This leaves me feeling that it might depend on whether you bought the phone sim free or you got it subsidised by a mobile carrier. Its possible the contract phones are prevented from updating after rooting in a bid to stop de-branding.
Well, its just my thouhgts. What do you guys think is responsible for this anomaly in unrooting. I had to flash my phone back to the generic uk firmware with Omnius to get it to update again. As things stand I will not be rooting my phone again.
Love to root
I rooted my e10i for 3times and reverted back with SE PC companion to its original state without any difficulty. My only problem after rooting was, the system was not stable. frequent reboots were happening(looking forward to fix that). Still i love to root again for these three things.
1. for deleting SE favorite apps.
2. for paid apps( which not yet available in my country)
3. Enabling wifi hotspot

You misunderstand the point of my post. It was not to examine the pros and cons of rooting. I know rooting brings a lot of added benefits and functionality to the phone. I too rooted to use wifi tethering. My point is that rooting might not suit all phones. My argument, that it might depend on whether you got the phone sim free or through a contract.
It seems that rooting is making it problematic for upgrading of phone irrespective of locked or SIM free as is under discussion in the latest firmware thread. But the interseting point of this thread is zodiac100 has updated his phone through OMNIUS.
So zodiac100 will you please describe tthe process of upgrading through Omnius in detail or point us to the thread (English) where it is detailed in case some of us may find it useful now or in future.
Edit : I have read your advice about flashing by Omnius in another thread. Thanks for that. In Omnius site I couldnot find E10i phone but simply E10 with no picture. Is it the same phone?

[Q] Need ANY stock Rogers rom for x10

Now before anyone responds by telling me to search the forums I have spent HOURS on XDA going through innumerable forums clicking on dead or misleading links and have not found anything that will help.
My old x10 crapped out on me and I need to reflash it so that SEUS will recognize it. I know what I am doing and have done this before. I have the latest (and multiple copies of older) version of flashtool. This all started with 2.1 randomly shutting down irrespective of what the battery level is. I have had this happen in the past and EVERY time a reflash resolved it.
ALL I need is either the official Rogers 1.6 or 2.1 stock rom. There seem to be HUNDREDS of dead links here and this has become a uber frustrating situation. I have flashed X10a_3.0.1.G.0.75_AMERICA-US GENERIC 1233-8200 which 100% solved the reboot issue but now my sd card is no longer recognized. And please don't tell me to try other cards as I have used 6 different capacity and speed cards and none are seen in the phone but ALL work on my pc and on my xperia T. I am using the original 16GB card that the phone came with.
For some reason I can get roms for every other carrier except Rogers so I am suspecting Rogers had them pulled, but SURELY someone here has what I need and can help.
Once I can get it back to stock I can use SEUS or PC companion to update and I will take care of the rooting later, if at all.
So here it is, I am asking VERY nicely...BEGGING in fact...can ANYONE help me get a stock ROGERS rom for my x10?
Following http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmX-IYNYqL8&hd=1 was of zero help as the page shown in the vid has been edited and now does not have any of the links for the firmwares, only the flashtool.
I honestly thank you for any help you can offer here. My kids want\need their phone back and there is no way I can afford to replace it right now...and frankly I shouldn't have to replace it if all I need is the rom. I do apologize if I am coming off like a jerk. That is not my intent. I am just SUPER frustrated and running out of time and searches on XDA have become less than friendly over the past few years...too much content to dig through and too many old/dead links.

[Q] Sophix Tab-840g Need Firmware help!

Hello Xda community,
Alright after exhausting all other options i have decided to turn to our community in hopes that i can come to some sort of resolution for this matter. Okay i own a Sophix Tab-840g past warranty my problem is my software was causing freeze and reboots i left it that way for a while because it wasn't bothering me. So i waited long enough for them to make a new firmware and i upgraded, however upon doing so i was not able to use the touchscreen. Also, i have no back up...... was a bad move in retrospect. I did some research and found that that the freezing was due to the actual firmware and many people had tried to update running into the same situation where the touchscreen stopped working.
The only difference between when i did it and when they did it is the company had there older firmware available still. That is no longer that case they only have the new firmware and after calling they no longer have old software available. Other people reverted back and atleast there tablet worked, however I CANNOT get the old firmware ANYWHERE........in there guide they talk of the use of update "update-tab840-v02-20130315.img" when using there batch program. The only firmware available is the new one “upgrade-tab840-v03-20130607" i'm looking for the older update "update-tab840-v02-20130315.img" to fix my tablet or a way to fix this touchscreen hard reset is out of the option i have already done this method a couple times, i tried installing from sd, and from the computer all with the same error. Thank you so much for reading this and also for any help i procure. I will be uploading the version of my firmware i have no and the old one if i get it so this can the fix for this dreaded problem with so few forums talking of a fix.
Thank you,
Captainsploof
P.S. having trouble uploading firmware at this point keeps saying page unavailable during upload 8/18/2014

Samsung Boot Loop - How do you work out what software needs flashing via odin?

Suppose a Samsung phone is stuck in a boot loop, getting only as far as the Samsung logo. Recovery mode doesn't work - it only shows a sick robot with 'No Command' and some text about 'applying CSC' (whatever that is) before going back into the boot loop. Download mode works. You can inspect the hardware, and do whatever is necessary in download mode. Aside from that which can be worked out somehow, the history of the phone (original network, firmware installed, what's been flashed to the phone, unlock status etc) is unknown.
What are the possible causes of this boot loop problem? Does anybody actually know, or is everyone just hiding behind comments like 'there are many possible causes', pretending to be knowledgeable when they don't actually know anything? I ask because I really want to know and genuinely have not seen a complete answer to this question after hours of searching and seriously wonder whether anyone actually knows. If there are 'many possible causes', list them and explain how they result in a boot loop.
How do you work out what software needs flashing to repair the phone? If it can't be worked out, is there a sure-fire way of flashing all of the necessary software so that it will definitely work?
For any phone model, there are many firmwares available, according to country, carrier, and firmware date. What actually governs whether a given firmware is going to work on the phone? Surely the hardware is pretty much always the same? So why does the firmware version matter as long as you get the right phone model?
If the model of the phone is significant (i.e., it isn't possible to give a general answer to these questions that can be followed for any model of Samsung phone), please explain why it is significant for your answer (rather than hiding behind that as an excuse for not answering), and then assume an S4 mini.
Thanks.
