as of today - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

what rom are you guys using?
i just rooted my vibrant and want to know what rom right now is working good..with the least amount of issues and bugs
most importantly where i dont get missed calls or txts
im guessing cm7 isnt fully working

From what I can tell the most stable ROMs are still 2.2 since CM7 and other Gingerbread roms still have issues with GPS and battery power. The two best established ROMs I've found are:
Project V from 6/11/2011
Team Whiskey's Bionix-v 1.3.1
fwiw out there, I wish there was a "stable, widely used and fully functioning" section in one of the FAQs. I know a number of the regulars on here are comfortable flashing, but I would guess a majority of the readers/lurkers just want one stable ROM to use for the rest of their phone's life.
Good luck!

hahaha yeah thats me...im always trading phones..traded my sidekick 4g for vibrant plus 75 bucks
would you post the most current link to the roms please if you dont mind
i really wished cm7 was stable =/

I'm using phiremod. Stable and I can put netflix on without further mod. However, I can't overclock. I really wish I could do that. I'm sure there is a way, I just don't know how to install the kernel necessary with CWM. I'm still a big noob.
Sent from my phiremod Vibrant using XDA App

my vote is for toxic 8. with immortality kernal or bali which comes with it. Plus there is lots of themes available for it. I tried most of the GB roms and they all have great features, but I want everything to work as it should.

Bi-Winning V3 with Bali 1.8.8UV
In light/moderate use, I'm currently on 33% and its been 1d 8h..

there is a section in the development and it has the vibrant bible open that up and look at the kernels section for 2.3 u will see bali glitch neo and so on i suggest neo for best battery life and smoothness i always overclock to 1.44mhz with setcpu and i dont UV

So I'm guessing that all these roms are to SD just how com would right

Try both and see which one you prefer.
I like Fusion since it has almost gotten rid off the touchwiz crap.
right now i am running this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773018
it is a great ROM, and it flies. i do not have any lag fix installed and i have absolutely no lag at all. and touchwiz is completely removed
I was loving Bionix 1.9 but I Odin-ed back to Stock JI6 because I think Froyo is coming out soon. It was released internationally last week and the Captivate already has it.
I am sure Fusion is very nice but I got sick of flashing new ROMS every other day. Just my 2 cents.

this is my first ROM and i am running Bionix 1.9.1 for a few days now. stable so far, works as advertised. i am running bionix191_JACS_OCUV_VOODOO and i have also installed SetCPU. if you decide to go with it please make sure you take a look at this before you do anything: https://sites.google.com/site/projec...allation-guide. if you follow the guide you should have no probs.
i have noticed battery life improvement after installing 1.9.1 and reconditioning battery, it has been unplugged since about 7:30am and after 3 calls one lasting 40mins while on blue tooth and constant work e-mails i am sitting at 63% at the time of writing this. so in 8 hours i have dropped 37% its a big improvement from before.
just my experience

It really comes down to preference. Is there a speed difference from 1.9.1 to Fusion 1.0? Most users think that Fusion is faster, but I came from 1.8 so I can't comment on it. Fusion is awesome. If you don't mind TWiz than go with 1.9.1, however, if you're like me and can't stand TWiz, go with Fusion 1.0. It is amazing.

You will likely be waiting for awhile. Froyo hasn't even been mentioned for the Vibrant yet. The Source code was released for 2.2 but that is a far cry from a working fully functional ROM. You do realize you don't have to keep flashing the most current ROM they release right?

Yeah I was going Flash crazy and I must admit it is addictive LOL. Anyway, every Bionic ROM was slightly different, for example one had JI2 modem for better battery and the next one had JI6 for better data. I had to see for myself which one was best for me. Eventually I decided to go back to stock with the latest official JI6 OTA update to receive the Froyo OTA .

Hey there, don't get your panties in a bunch.. That ROM actually didn't fully remove touchwiz like you claim. There are some things that are still touchwiz there like twframework-res
But if your choice is Fusion or Bionix.. go with fusion
I've tried both... Go with Fusion if you don't use the TW launcher. If you are unsure about LP, its very cool.
I am running 1. 9 and I love it so far but I do miss cm5 on my mytouch slide :-( I hope it does work out for cm6 on the vibrant.

^ Eugene makes a very solid ROM and is usually slightly ahead of the other DEV's here. (I.E.- He has released (I believe) 3 builds of Froyo so far) where most other DEV's are just getting started on Froyo. Most DEV's use Eugene's work as a base for their own ROM's. I started with Eugene's ROM and have since moved to Bionix out of sheer personal preference. I like the look and feel of the Bionix ROM's more than I like Eugene's.
That being said, when he gets the GPS fixed on his most recent Froyo ROM, I may just have to flash it up to see how I like it
I think he got gps working on his newest 2.2 rom. I could be wrong though. I'm going to give that a run tonight
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I haven't tried either yet - still in OCD research phase before trying anything new and scary like a custom ROM ...
That said, I'm leaning toward Bionix. I understand the difference between the two is effectively whether you prefer Touchwiz and LauncherPro. They're both otherwise on relatively equal footing.
I've tried LP with homeswitcher and honestly it's nifty but it's niftiness couldn't outweight my familiarity with Touchwiz. This vibrant is my first android phone so that probably speaks volumes as to why I had no previous conceptions of what the UI ought to behave like...
I'd suggest to the OP to also just try out LP with homeswitcher prior to flashing a ROM and you can easily see for yourself which format tickles your pickle more.

[Q] Top 10 ROMS

Since I've just started using ROMS. I was wondering, is there a list or thread of the top 10 most used/best ROMS? Thanks in advance guys!
Not sure of Top 10, All I can say, every one gets a different score or opinion for each rom. Its matterof personal preference on what you like on each rom.
Not in any order or priority, list of roms that have consistent positive feedback and updates.
Team Whiskey
Eugene
Einherjar (Multiple Devs Merged into 1)
Try Nero v4.1 with overclock kernal. This has to be number one. Very fast and stable. 65 fps, 2000+ quadrant scores, no lag issues. Its a very good rom. I'm more than impressed.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
For me I can tell you my top 3.
1. Axura 2.2.6.0 - Master
2. Nero 4.1 -Team Whiskey (good if you like overclocking)
3. Pepperkake 3.5.2 - Jelette
All 3 of these roms are fast and stable. I personally found Axura rom to work the best for my needs.

These 3 are all great, and The statement "I personally found the XXXX rom to work the best for my needs" is ultimately the bottom line...... personal choice
I use the Axura as of now, I get least amount of banding in my FFC with it and the best battery life.
Thanks for the info guys!

NERO
GingerClone
Axura
are probably the best, and most popular out currently, i use nero, but love both ginger clone and axura!
Which one gives you the best battery life?
Battery wise, axura gave me the best with no reconditioning.
Nero with reconditioning gives about an hour or less than axura, but battery life is all dependent on how u use your phone
For me, I use axura cos my gps works with it, with nero my gps doesn't.
But have to say battery life with nero is very good.
Would love to try pepperkake /eighnjar ROMs too..

I flashed the latest version of Axura last night and I am blown away. This is my first custom ROM (coming from stock Eclair JI6) and I am loving it. It's hard to believe this was developed by enthusiasts and is available for free. (I will donate of course!)
I am sure the other ROMs are great, too. I'll be trying them soon

me too. i'm sick of waiting for 2.2 since it looks as if samsung doesn't care about their customers so i'm looking for the most stable rom from 2.2.
guess i'll try the auxura(sp?) and see how that goes.
i assume you don't lose any apps or anything when changing the roms?
I get the best performance and battery life with Nero V4.1
Everything works flawlessly.

You LOSE all your apps and contacts unless you back them up first! Follow the Noob guide posted in this forum to back up your apps using Titanium backup.
Edit: The Axura update doesn't delete your videos and pictures that you took with the camera. I had backed those up but they were there when the new ROM loaded up
It doesn't wipe your internal or external SD card, but it does wipe all your apps. Everything on SD cards will stay exactly like they were preflash (barring certain circumstances, but I won't get into those right now. These issues are not present with any of the current roms (using stock kernels)

[Q] Quick question?

Hello to all of you. I wanted to know what rom are you using? I'm currently switching from Bionix 1.3.1 and Nex Gen v2. if you guys use something different that is giving you better preformance, then please let use noob know. If you can tell us why you like it and what makes it better the other rom that would be great. If I missed any ROM then I'm sorry but just put it in you reply and I will add it later.
we apericiate your help in advance.
Thank You
guys your opinion will be very helpful for us and the developers, so please lets input our preference.
RevolutionRom is very quick and very stable. There will be an update rolled out shortly that will blow anything else out of the table so if I were you I would try Revolution.
ZenDroid 2.0.1 currently but it's not listed...
I have had the best overall performance from Vibrace V1.7 (2.2.1) using Bali 1.8.7uv kernel. It's quick, smooth, and has good battery life. I have tried a variety of gingerbread ROMs but eventually come back to this ROM due to the poor battery life and poor GPS performance on the gingerbread ROMs.

I'm running cm7 build #58. I know it's not a stable build, but it has been working great for me. I also flashed the Glitch Kernel V11, which allows OC/UV. I like it so far.
who has better battery with Boinix 1.3.1 Vs Boinix Next Gen V2? I usually get 1 day/ 8hours. what about you guys?
Thanks in Advance
How many of you stick with one ROM, and how many try new thing everyday?
I been trying various GB roms lately but they all seem to have some little but nagging issues like freezes, fc, and mediocre battery life. Features and aesthetics are great though.
I run bionix nextgen as my stable rom when I'm busy and don't have time to flash around roms.
You should be getting better battery life with bionix. Try battery calibrate and Bali kernel.

I run one rom... i had nero 3 fo the LONGEST time... things started acting wierd... so i changed to a GB rom... and its pretty good thus far...

[Q] What's the lightest, and most Stable rom for the Vibrant?

I just picked up a Vibrant, coming from a sprint htc hero, and I'm looking for some opinions on what rom would work best for me.
My main concerns are;
-Stability
-Speed
-working GPS
-battery life (doesn't have to be great, but I don't want to charge twice a day either)
I'm willing to go without some customization options if it means a more stable and fast experience. The phone is currently on the stock 2.1 so my guess is anything will be an improvement. What do you guys suggest?
Simply Honey 5.1 w/ 1.2 Bullet kernel. Badass Rom \m/
I'm having the best succuss to date with Simpply honey, 5.1.
Some users find that the GPS may never be stable, others don't have any issues.

I think many will agree, Bionix 1.3.1 is one of the most stable roms created for the vibrant. Pair that up with an undervolted kernel, such as bali, overstock, or superdragon_modz, and you got yourself stability heaven with decent battery life and GPS. My $.02. I'll include the links if you want to check them out.

My vote goes to Bi-winning V3. Its super smooth and fast with zero issues. Battery life is good, and it comes with the Bullet kernel that is capable of over clocking if your into that.
I started with Axura, went to bionix - both ran fine. GPS got within 60 feet on average. Hey - a garmin it ain't -
Tried a few GB ROMs, but since GB isn't 'out' for t959, I had concerns re: compatibility to the phone itself using a ported rom. Un-bricking is not how I want to spend my time!
Currently using ToXiC 8 with Immortality kernel and Clean and Shiny theme. Fast. Stable. Using it since day 1 and no rom-related fc's. I tried the scripts jcc provided, but couldn't really see a difference. Battery life after calibration is great. I can use it all day without reservations. GPS will lock quickly, however no matter what ROM I've used, GPS always under-reports highway speed by ~2mph. After applying fixes that Jcc suggests, this phone is great.
Hope this helps.

In search of stable froyo rom

hey as the title says searching for a stable froyo rom for a friend he doesnt like cm7 or anything gingerbread and theres so many to choose from i dont know where to start please and thank you
There really is no Froyo rom here that isn't stable. It will all come down to personal preference. I like ZenDroid. It's smooth and has all of the non essental bloat removed. Bi-Winning v3 is also good. I tend to go between those two. Pair either of those with the Bali 1.8.8UV kernel or DragonMODz kernel, and you've got yourself a slick rom with very good battery. But there are lots of choices so it's really up to you.
Hope this helps
I have flashed every single flashable froyo and cm7/cm7 based roms that I could find on xda and I must say while I liked zendroid and have alot of repect for the developer but overall my favorite recent froyo rom is toxic crazy 8. I used the theme clean and shiny for music and toxic 8 and it is visually beatiful with themed in call screens and everything all included. Its also a super fast rom. I never disable voodoo (some will disagree with me on that) and its super quick to flas any rom within cwm so id try both and decide but make sure to get clean and shiny if you do toxic 8 its great. Ill also throw in that this is yhe first tozic I have used as a daily and even having a daily is rare for me but the dev is always helping people and he is very helpful and never rude, its really cool.

I like Project-V. I don't think I'll switch for a while. Bionix 1.3.1 is good, but the add widgets menu is too cluttered for me. With ZenDroid, I get a bunch of annoying bugs and force closes even after a fresh install from JFD. Bi-Winning wasn't my thing, only tried for a few hours. Same with Bionix NextGen.
