I have looked everywhere for a working download to completely unroot my phone and restore to factory so I can return it to a verizon store to exchange it for something else.
I have collected odin v1.3 and odin v1.83
I don't have any recovery files except the cwm.
I'm extremely new to modding my phone and i really need to restore it to normal.
could anyone provide me a way to completely restore to factory and unroot?
I am running a verizon samsung fascinate i500 with 2.1 update 1
There should be a sticky in the development forum that tells you how to unroot your phone.

Hi Guys, I tried flashing Eugene's gingerclone rom and it soft bricked my phone. Anyhow, I flashed back to stock with Odin, but It's not removing the AT&T loader his ROM came with. So everytime I restart my phone it shows the ATT logo first the the vibrant black & white screen, then whatever bootloader the rom comes with. How can I remove this and get my phone back in full stock mode so I can flash a clean nero5. Does it make a difference what version of Odin i'm using? I used version 3.1
Im not sure why there was an ATT bootloader involved since I am guessing you are using a T-mobile Vibrant. But, I dont use Eugenes ROMS. Anyway, You should be able to flash back to TRUE stock JFD via Odin. Just look for it in the Bible in the Development forum under ODIN roms. This will take you all the way back to stock and remove root.
Hello, yes I was able to restore the phone to stock and remove the root but when I reboot or turn on the phone it still shows the att screen first, then the black and white vibrant screen them the pink letters bootloader for T-Mobile. I followed the video tut from the Bible thread and it's still there. What else could I do? I feel like something is not being fully deleted or something.

Very interesting, Did you select re-partition during the odin flash?
Yes I selected re-partition like the video said. What to do?

Have you tried checking over at Eugenes forums http://eb-productions.proboards.com/ . I think I have seen a thread concerning this over there.
I just posted on hus q n a. I found some threads about deleting bootloader.zip or something. How would one do that? Do we SSH into the phone or something?

Ok for starters thanks in advance for the help i have found a ton of helpful stuff on the forum. im working with a samsung fascinate from verizon 2.2.1 and very long story short a ex-coworker rooted my phone for me and now i need a software update. its my understanding that being rooted prevents the ota update from installing. i never used any of the features of the root except i did the oneclicklagfix and a bloat freezer i also added a superuser app. here is what i have tried 1.i clicked the unroot in the oclf app. 2. tried to unroot using z4root app. 3 tried a factory reset. 4. downloaded odin and a stock recovery file following instructions on here (i get "check image files") the software update has a fix for the call connect issue with the fascinate (which is driving me nuts) i now seem to be stuck somewhere between rooted and un-rooted an app called root checker says im not rooted but i still cant update. please help me out i use my phone for work and miss calls like crazy im hoping the update will fix this.
have u tryed superone click they have a unroot button.

The ED04 update hasn't really fixed the issue according to a lot of reports here and on other forums...
Just odin your phone back to stock. Get the Dl09 radio tar file and Dl09 unrooted bloated rom and then you can do the ota. The Dl09 tar file you will flash with odin then the Dl09 zip file you will flash through recovery.

There is a full DL09 Odin file that would take care of everything in one swoop found in this thread

i dont know how or why but the update installed and i didnt really seem to fix anything. so im all good i think and thanks to all of you for such quick help.
My Goal: set everything back to stock for warranty. (charging system is *%$#ed)
my problem: I am stuck at the unrooting part.
I have read everything I can over and over and yet I still find myself in a predicament. I have restored everything back to stock (I rooted and unlocked my SGS2, but I never used a custom ROM).
I have relocked the device, I have reset everything back to stock. I used the jig to reset the flash counter. I re flashed my secure kernel. Everything checks out, except my Superuser access.
Now here is the part where I am stuck. So essentially from what I read I have 3 options that I can recall:
1 - just re flash my stock ROM to remove root (seems pointless as I have never had to flash a ROM, seeing as I am still on my stock ROM)
2 - unroot using SOC (which failed to work, stuck on step 6)
3 - use Samsung Kies to update. (this also failed, won't detect my phone, and yes it is in Kies mode, no debug)
I am at a loss. I am on the Bell network in Canada, and I am on UGKG2 firmware.
Please let me know if you need more information. Also, I apologize if the answer is in one of the threads. I have been reading everything whenever I can, and just can't figure this one out. thanks for your patience in advance

you have to flash an original firmware if you want to get rid of root and cwm.

Is there a way you can tell that your phone isn't rooted anymore?

Well, there is a market app (rootcheck) but it's easy to check yourself, if you dont have superuser in your app drawer you are not rooted.
Let's say, you dont have superuser app and you cannot access cwm recovery = you are not rooted
If I may ask, why exactly is it that you cannot unroot without flashing an original firmware? Why does SOC even give you the option if it doesn't work? Thanks for the timely replies though

soc does work but a lot of people screw up 3 Simple steps and end up with a semi bricked phone.
Flash a stock firmware is probably the more "safe" system. Also allows you to flash latest version that some countries will never receive or receive very late.
Sry my English sux even more today lol

Ok... So let's troubleshoot why I can't get the unroot to work for SOC... I have tried both in and out of download mode. Debugging on and debugging off. Yet the unroot stops at step 6 and does nothing...

I read in another post it is as simple as removing superuser.apk and the su folder on system...

I just flashed the stock rom back. Seems to look quite 100% like it did when it came in the box. Jigged to kill flash counter. I think I am set to send it in Thanks a lot guys.
Following that, looks like for root you just need to download superuser app from market and you are good to go....
Its not so easy as you know.
Removing the superuser apk just removes the superuse app, but then you end up with a semi rooted phone with cwm recovery (that you dont want if you want to go back to stock)

Good im glad you managed to "restock" the phone as you see it is fast and easy with flash of a stock rom
If I odin back to stock jfd, will this turn my phone back to factory before I rooted it? Thanks
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Yes it will.
Yes, It will be same as your brand new phone. No Root no additional apps installed.
I rooted my new factory refurb Note 2 and installed Rom Manager thinking I would install CWM and do a backup. I opened Rom Manager and gave root access to it, chose to instal CWM and the phone showed the download, shut down and restarts to a screen saying System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest Verizon Wireless store for help.
I would assume that this is NOT something I want to go to the Verizon store with! Can anyone help me get back into my phone?
You have to unlock your bootloader first before loading a custom recovery. You will need to return to stock using odin. Guide can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34891181
Once you are back to stock use Casual to root and unlock. Directions for that are in the post I previously linked to.
