Using the camera LED's for notifications and rapid blinking while the phone is ringing. Eh? Possibility?
Flashlight alerts is in the market, good idea though. I use it all the time when driving.
Already out there...check the 2nd post,it does everything you mentioned.
Sent from that Evo3D thingy.....I need an aspirin.
I also use flashlight alerts and it is great!! My phone is on vibrate most of my day at work so this doesn't disrupt anyone with sound but I see the light.

I'm coming from a BB world. Is there a way to specify a certain led for a certain type of call/msg. example...green for missed calls, yellow for mms, orange for yahoo, purple for gmail, etc?

I just noticed we don't have a light for notifications. We should so I'm not sure what is going on.

There is 1 notification light that i know off... The original 4g had 2 lights which was nice. The only phones I've seen like that though are bberries - I'm guessing rim does it due to phones being silenced during meetings etc but still being able too get good clear notifications. I wish they had better though on the 3d

Is there a native app to turn on the LED lights on the back of the phone like there is on the evo 4g or maybe even use the same apk from the evo 4g? Ive been looking for an app on the market but I really haven't found any good ones. Recommendations?
Someone posted htc flashlight app awhile ago on here... Lemme see it I have it on my sd card still

I'm using Tiny Flashlight + LED from the market. I like it plus it has battery % indicator.
The official HTC flashlight app (the one included with the EVO 4G) is available from HTC Hub. If you don't know already, it includes three brightness levels, SOS, and auto flash. Also, when using the flashlight, the screen doesn't turn off after a timeout.

Never knew that, but i had the app. Quick question, I understand Manual setting, but i don't quite understand SOS and Auto? Understand why SOS flashes, but auto is weird as hell.

Okay, I'm not too much of a noob by now, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to solve my issue. I know there's an option somewhere, or used to be.
The issue:
I get an email at night, as I'm in deep sleep. If I don't clear the notification, it gives off an email reminder every 5 minutes or so. I'm using the stock Mail app.
I know in the gmail app, there's an option for notify once, but can't find anything similar in the stock mail app, but remember not having this issue in my Evo 4G days.
Any help?
(Yes I googled before posting...)

Well that's an obvious option, but really isn't a solution. I'm trying to disable the "reminder notification." This used to be an option.
Thanks for trying.

This is a work around. Get the audio guru app. You can setup sound profiles and schedule them by half hour blocks. Setup a sleep profile for the night time so the notification sound doesn't wake you up every 5 min. As for the notification bar, sorry can't help
yea, guess that's my only two options...
thanks guys. hopefully a real solution comes around.
Oddly enough, I have notification sound off, but i still get a sound.. try turning it off?
Mine sounds when I get an email, but doesn't chime every 5 minutes.

When I receive a text through Google voice my notification light is a solid purple-ish color. Anyone else text through Google voice and have the same notification? I thought it was just weird that it doesn't flash like all the other notifications. It's stock gs3 btw.

To be honest I don't even look at the notification colors.. they are kinda pretty but I always have my phone with me so I check right when I hear the sound.
It seems that non stock apps are having issues with the notification lights.
my wife and i use GV for text.
ours both have the same Pulple/Hotpink color for the notification light.
wish it was blue....
Thanks for the replies! It's not the color that's bothering me. It's just the fact that it stays solid and doesn't flash!

I thought it was only me. I get the same thing on my s3 as well. It just stay solid purple for my GV notification. Im just worried that it might burn out the led on my phone
Your not the only one. Turns out that most 3rd party apps that use the notification led are messed up on the US versions of the s3. Guess the firmware for the led on the US s3 was a little different then usual. If you are worried about it just turn off the text notification for voice and check your phone more often lol. I'm not too worried about mine but that's because I don't use voice for texting very much and when I do I check it constantly.
Is there actually an app that can reliably control the LED of this phone?
Several times over the last few months I've tried Light Flow Lite and Light Manager and they just don't work properly. I am more than prepared to pay for an app that does the job, and reliable custom-coloured LED notifications is about the only thing I miss from my old HTC phone...
Maybe your configuration for the app wasn't accurate?
Because Light Flow works fine on both my Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S 3 without problem through there something I wish it could be improved, but it works fine
