So I was rooted with ViperRom. When the update came out, I decided I was just gonna go stock so I downloaded Sprint RUU EXE which took my phone back to stock and removed clockwork recovery.
Now, when I'm in HBOOT, it still says S-OFF but I'm running the 2.3.3 stock rom with no root. I've tried going to Settings->Software update but it keeps saying no update available even though I got the OTA notifications before when I was on Viper. I have the 45MB update file on my SD card and I was wondering if there's a way to get the phone to use the downloaded file and update itself.
Thanks!

Not sure how to do that, because I never play with ota. But I can tell you that you're still going to be s off. If you want s on, you need to do 'fastboot oem writesecureflag3' or something like that. Search the dev section for the s on thread and check for sure.

Okay i was able to get it to show S-ON again and I renamed them update package to PG86IMG.zip. when i boot into HBOOT, it goes through Loading PG86IMG.zip and then Checking PG86IMG.zip and then just returns to the hboot menu without any messages. Not sure what I'm doing wrong...
Do you still want root with stock ROM?

Did u put it on the root of SD. Not in a folder.
No I don't care at this point. I just want stock everything so then in a few months when I get bored, I can play with all the things root has to offer. I realized this whole ROM business is getting addictive again and I can't afford to be poking around my phone all the time like I used to when I was rocking a Touch Pro 2 lol
I just want the stock 2.3.4

Yes I did. I'm trying again. I booted into the bootloader through the "adb reboot bootloader" command. Clicked the "power" button on "bootloader option. It goes through a "loading pg86img.zip" phase with a blue vertical progress bar on the right side and then to a "checking pg86img.zip" phase with a yellow vertical progress bar on the right. Then it just comes back to the Hboot screen and stays there...

I just tried doing it through fastboot. I used the following command
fastboot update pg86img.zip
it reported that the archive does not containt "android-info.txt" and "android-product.txt" and did not proceed.
Did you try without fastboot just doing
adb shell reboot bootloader
Might not need "shell"

i'm not sure what that was supposed to do but it just booted the phone into Hboot. still doesn't flash the update. It loads it, checks it, and then nothing
Almost sounds like something is wrong with hboot/bootloader. Maybe see if you can flash just the 1.4 hboot? Sorry, running out of ideas.

So i put this file on my SD card http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16150249&postcount=1 and hboot went through and updated a bunch of stuff giving me a factory restore. i then replaced the pg86img.zip file with the update for 2.3.4 and once again, it loads it, checks it, and then nothing..
Someone please help
i think the update zip has something missing...

Hi Everyone,
I have a Mobilicity Amaze 4G, got the OTA ICS notification and cant seem to update.
After hitting "Install Now" the phone restarts and shows a green "X" in the center.
I have to do a battery pull to get the phone working again and it loads with ginger bread.
I am on stock Mobilicity ginger bread, phone is rooted with S-on. Nothing else has been done to it.
What could be the problem?
Will the method described here work?

You don't see an icon name Amaze 3.2? With an A as the icon? When you do, double click on that, it won't be in the data folder, it will be outside of it. Unzip the contents of the zip file into an empty folder so you won't lose any of the files in between your downloads.

I'd advise you to have the ruu ready, once relocked, it's gonna be stuck on the bootloader, but since it's wind, just choose fastboot then run the exe file, it's gonna restore everything on the phone to complete stock, I'd advise you to copy the OTA file from your internal sd card's download folder, copy it to your external sd card, once the stock ruu has finished installing from your pc and reboots, do a battery pull, hold volume down then power on, should take you to hboot, choose recovery, recovery should give you a red triangle, hit volume up then power button. install update.zip from external, browse to the OTA file then hit the power button, it's gonna install, reboot two times or so, voila! You're on ICS!

Ruu is the stock image of your systems stock Rom used to flash the device back to complete stock.
Check in the dev section for the stock ruu, it should be an exe file, so you'll have to flash it via pc, you'll have to put the phone into fastboot, turn it off until you get the ruu exe file.

Does relocking the bootloader unroots the phone?
I didnt know installing an ota i got in notification bar would be this hard.
All i want to do is install the official ICS update mobility sent to me this morning.
I bought my phone rooted, but it is still on gingerbread. i never done anything to it.
Requirements:
1. Stock GB of whichever provider you choose to install from be it Telus or T-Mobile
do note that you can only install the ICS OTA file of the exact providers who's stock GB you have installed.
2. The OTA corresponding file, I'll provide links to both below.
3. An SD card.
4. S-ON users will have to relock their bootloader.

It doesn't seems so, the green x usually means you have the wrong recovery and since hasoon removed that from his tool we need to flash the stock recovery by restoring a stock ruu.

into the data folder of the tool, start up his tool, then choose to flash your own recovery, it should select that file you downloaded and flash it, you have to do this via fastboot, after that, retry updating.

Thank you for the help so far, i appreciate it.
Just for clarification after relocking the bootloader the green "X" doesnt show anymore.
when i try to update after relocking the bootloader it gets stuck at the white screen that says "security warning relocked" at the top.
Should I still flash the recovery image?
What do you mean by "do this via fastboot"?
Should the phone be off while flashing?
Sorry I am just a little confused.

You're newer to this than I thought, awe brother.
Let's start over, I'll go look for the stock RUU for mobilicity, is your device from mobilicity or is it from another carrier?
I purchased a Rezound from eBay and it's locked with a gesture lock. The seller told me to do a factory reset, which I did a couple of times, and it doesn't reset the phone to the new activation screen. It looks like he rooted the phone at one point. The recovery screen says "Tampered," "Relocked," and "VIGOR PVT SHIP S-ON RL."
My question is, how do I get past the gesture lock? Will rooting and flashing a different rom do the trick? I am obviously a newbie, and likely wouldn't have rooted it and installed a custom rom if I didn't have to, but it seems like I may have to at this point. Thanks!

Obviously the first thing that comes to mind is if all it needed was to have a factory reset done why didn't the seller do just that and avoid the hassle? Kinda like when you look at a car and all it needs for the AC to work is a recharge..yeah I've been bit by that one before too.
Glad you got it working..youll enjoy being rooted
Looks like it isn't entirely right. I took it to Verizon to get it activated, and I have data connectivity but cannot call or text at all. The software version is 4.0.3 Android with 3.6 Sense. I am going to try to restore the factory version (from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338916) and hope that does the trick. Otherwise, I guess there's something wrong and I have to return the phone to the seller.

Download that file, rename it PH98IMG.ZIP and make sure it isn't named PH98IMG.ZIP.ZIP and then put that on the root of the actual SD Card. Not the internal memory.
Reboot into hboot, and it will find that file and load it. You will have to chose volume + to accept. It will flash bootloader first, then the radios and rom and such. After this has flashed and booted, delete the PH98IMG.ZIP file from your sd card, and then reboot into hboot and chose factory reset. Let it do its thing, and try a phone call or text on reboot.
should be good to go after this.
I downloaded the file, put it in the root directory of the sd card, and booted into hboot. It says "Loading PH98IMG.zip" for a few minutes, then goes back to the hboot screen. I then powered down, removed SD card, and tried to factory reset. The phone entered the Android system recovery. I rebooted, and the phone seemed exactly the same. I'll retry, maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Update: I've retried a few times, and it just seems that hboot won't load PH98IMG.zip. Might it matter that I'm still at S-ON?

Try redownloading again might have been a bad download. Remember once the file starts to flash it might shut off and turn on and continue doing its thing just make sure when it's all done every item says "ok" next to it if it does your good to go next just make sure you go into bootloader do a factory reset.

Well technically we misuse the term ruu, since it's actually a exe you run on your computer.
What people usually mean by ruu is a zip that has official, stock HTC everything.
Rom, recovery, hboot, radio etc
Rename file to PH98IMG and put in the root of your sd, then flash it in bootloader.

Before you flash, you should know that if the RUU file you are using is not a rooted one, you may loose root by flashing it to your phone. There are rooted RUUs on XDA and I hope you are using one of them.
Now if you have downloaded the RUU file to your computer
1.Rename it as PH98IMG and put it on your SD card.
2. power off your phone (preferably by removing the battery and putting it back).
3. restart your phone by holding down volume down and the power button. Your phone will reboot to bootloader. The bootloader should automatically load the file you rename PH98IMG and ask you if you want to install the update.
4. Press volume up for YES. Bootloader will install the file. Follow the instructions to finish.

Did you see a a vertical bar working on the top right of your phone? If the PH98IMG loads correctly, there should be a message in red at the bottom asking if you want to start the update.

So when you fastboot flash recovery recovery.img that appeared to work? If so did you try fastboot erase recovery first?

Well the top line in your bootloader should say something along the line of Unlocked or Tampered if it doesn't then you need to use HTC Unlock tool and unlock your bootloader again. If its locked you can't do anything. Check that out.
Edit:
It should look something like the attached image.

Have you checked to make sure the proper driver is installed? Are you using windows?
Hey Guys,
So I was previously running BulletProof 2.5 ROM and when I heard about the official release I immediately attempted to upgrade it.
I performed the following steps:
1)Relocked phone
2)Flashed the Telus RUU(while phone was connected to computer using the exe file)
*also attempted using the OTA.zip file after renaming it to PH85IMG after RUU flash
3)Unlocked bootloader
4)Flashed 4Ext
5)Flashed SU package
Once I rebooted phone and checked phone info it said I had
v2.3.4
Sense 3.0
Soft 1.41.661.3
Clearly this is the stock OS. Whenever I try to do the PH85IMG the phone freezes at HTC boot screen. I cannot figure this out. I was wondering if it is possible (and if it would work), if someone could create a backup of the OS after the ICS update that I could restore from.
I would really like to get ICS and any help would be appreciated
P.s. I am S-ON.
Thank you
Diogo
Didn't really search much did you? You need to relock bootloader again, flash ruu. Then run update before unlocking again.
Update has been out for a few months now....

I know it has, but I was in portugal and then didnt have time to do it. And yes i did search, I have gone through more threads and attempts then I can count, and in my first post I stated that I relocked phone. It still didn't work.
Relock.
Flash Telus RUU
Place the OTA on your SD card and name it as update.zip.
Boot into STOCK recovery. Not 4EXT or anything,
Press apply update.zip.
Done.

Did the above, but when I boot in to STOCK recovery I get:
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command
Then I select "Apply update from sdcard" and I get"
Invalid Operation
success rebooting by reason"oem-00
This is so frustrating, I have no idea what I am doing wrong.

Did you read this thread
Although the title said S-Off but don't worry, just read through it.
My experiences from performing S-Off and flashing RUU with this phone that, offenly I have to re-do / re-flash twice, even three times. Somehow the Amaze is kinda stubborn and it doesn't wanted to obey your command on first order.
Good luck
I tried reflashing multiple times, everytime I go into bootloader I get:
HTC phone with green arrown pointing down, with 2 circular green arrows around it.
Becomes an HTC Phone with the red triangle and exclamation mark in it.
Then the following text appears "E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command"
The recovery menu appears and I select "Apply update from sdcard"
and i always get
Invalid Operation
success rebooting by reason"oem-00

I am using the OTA from my phone. That was the first thing I tried when the one linked in the forum didn't work
Thank you everyone for your help. I got it to work...not sure what happened differently, but i kept repeating the processes and on the millionth attempt it worked lol.
I am having issues trying to either factory reset or update to ICS. I am still running 2.3.4, when I try to factory reset via the bootloader, nothing happens, I keep getting pushed back to the menu screen. And when I try to update to ICS, via the OTA, it stops on the recovery menu and doesnt reboot. I have relocked, and tried different methods, from which I could find on forums, and still nothing works.
I have tried to manually install the RUU via the SDcard, in the bootloader, after it checks the zip image, it takes me back to the menu screen also. I have tried to flash via the CMD, and I get FAILED: ( remote 12 signature verify fail). I need some help.
Let me know what you need to help diagnose my issue.
Thanks in advance!

Gotta be flashed in bootloader. Maybe your ph98img.zip is a zip inside a zip. Rename it to just ph98img and try that

Ok good. Let me make sure I am on the same page as you. Your device is charged to atleast 80%. You have the RUU downloaded and placed on the root of your sd card, NOT internal sd. You have it named PH98IMG with the extension as .zip, so it looks like PH98IMG.zip
Now, remember how I asked you to flash the RUU in HBOOT twice. I did not mean recovery. HBOOT is the white screen you come to first as you are booting into recovery though. What you have to do is power the device completely down. Pull the battery to be sure. Next, put the battery back in and power up while holding power and volume down at the same time. The device will boot into HBOOT. From there your device will commence to scan for update packages, ie; the PH98IMG.zip. Once the device has found the package it will prompt you to either update or reboot. Of course go with the update choice. Now, the device will appear to run through some menus and such, it may even black out a couple times, but in the end it will go right back into HBOOT. When it does, IMMEDIATELY proceed to update again. It will again go through some menu commands and such but it will do it considerably slower. the screen may black out a couple times but again in the end it should end back in the HBOOT menu. When it has went back into HBOOT, reboot your device and all should be good.

Ok, Yes to everything in your first paragraph. But, when I power down and restart into HBOOT, it goes to the menu where it says FASTBOOT USB, and nothing happens, so I select BOOTLOADER, and it does the following:
SD Checking...
Loading...[PH98DIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PH98DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading...[PH98IMG.zip]
the blue loading bar loads in the top right
After that completes, it says:
Checking...[PH98IMG.zip]
the red loading bar loads.
When it completes it takes me back to the menu screen, and nothing happens.
OK, hold on, it is now doing the update. Weird, it has never progressed passed this point.
EDIT#1: ??? its working with a red bar? lol
EDIT#2: I don't like it having a red bar. It shouldn't have a red bar. I'd prefer you do the below first.
A red bar you say? You just solved your own problem. Redownload the RUU and verify the MD5 sum before you rename it. Rename it to PH98IMG.zip, check the md5 sum, yes it will be different this time. Then move it to your sd card. Verify the MD5 sum with your last MD5 sum check. Let us know how it goes
Have you had a little cry? Let me find a stock ROM

Ok, so I was able to update to ICS. Thanks for everyones help. My only conclusion is the RUU I downloaded from Android Police from the Mirror #1 was a bad copy, I downloaded Mirror #3 and it worked.
