That is the new RUU for the latest OTA. It contains the 1.5hboot which is locked.
Perfect thanks! Returning my phone, just need stock back

why so? Did you lose root? Or now you can't root?
Can't root lol and can't use revolutionary. I want the RUU so I can return my phone, get a new I've with the hopes if not having the new software installed. I have the best buy insurance, returning it cause I dropped it, just need to get rid of the superuser icon

It probably won't have the new update on it....however...if you let the best buy tech activate your phone for you, they'll most likely hit the 'accept update' button or whatever....so it will be up to you to not allow him to do that. Don't even let him hold your phone, tell him you'll handle it all yourself, lol. Activation and all. I hate how they always accept the updates when they activate. Just make sure to stop him/her from doing it and you should be good.
Yup that's the plan haha

This question is in relation to the s-off or S-on.
thanks for your patients.
It all depends on if you are rooted or not, and if you plan to root in the future.
The updates are not "needed", you phone will run just fine without them.
If you are rooted, NEVER take an OTA update. Download the stock rooted rom with that version, and flash it.
If you are unrooted, you can just take the update by going to settings-system updates-software update. However, if you want to root, do it before updating, as updating could screw you with the locked hboot.

Ok I am rooted, some one did for me, the S-on/ Hboot -1.5
I keep getting the updates via OTA, and others, even if I update does nothing.
You mention the .."stock root rom" not sure how to make that move, I appreciated your suggestions.

That's because you can't and shouldn't take OTA updates when you are rooted. Every single root guide tells you this.

Find the latest stock rom in the Development section, and flash it just like any other rom.
In order to take the update, you would have to re-lock your phone, since your friend rooted yours using the HTC unlocking method. If you re-lock your phone, you can get the updates, but would have to go through the rooting process again. In some cases, I've read, it doesn't work.
If you want the updates, then search the Dev threads for a stock version of the newest update and flash it to your phone, if you are wanting them. Otherwise, I'd leave well-enough alone, if not having problems with your phone.

No I not sure about the updates! I was thinking that one of those updates was to remove the 'Carrier IQ'.
So I like the my phone is rooted, but I like to remove the Carrier IQ also.
Another reason why did the rooted is 'free wife' that gives me, that is the only web we have.
If any other suggestions please send it my way all are welcome.

Pretty sure rooting does not give you a free wife. Also, you have hboot 1.5 so you cannot have s-off. Also, many of the ROMs available for you to flash have carrier IQ removed already. One mo gain, Never update your phone if its rooted.

Ok here goes. Since the ics leak came out i can only assume that the Official update cant be that far behind. i have been reading the S-off and the Ics leak threads for about an hour or so now. and i have come to the following understanding: if i dont s off before installing the leak ( or even installing the official that ia on its way) then there is a chance i could never get s off.
So these are my questions
1. What are the advantages of having s-off
2. Should i just Root and s-off as soon as the phone comes in order to be sure i will have s-off
Sorry if these questions are "noob questions" and thank you in advance
You could wait for the official update which won't require you to root your phone or have S-OFF. T-Mobile hasn't released a date on when the update will come, but I'm sure it'll be when the One S is released. After I just updated to the leaked version my phone is no longer rooted and my bootloader is locked again, but I still have S-OFF

Well Having S-off allows you more control over your phone. you can flash radios, Eng/Mod Hboot images and have access to basically all partitions. if you upgrade to ICS before getting S-off you may only be able to have htc unlocked.

I think my problem was that I had a custom Rom installed like you stated somewhere else. So to anyone trying to update from a custom Rom you might have to have S-Off. Otherwise try reverting back to stock and updating it.

Ok, I am new at this whole thing. I have a stock HTC Amaze 4G and LOVE this phone. I have downloaded the file to my SD card and have followed all of the instructions. HOWEVER, before I scroll up to UPDATE in HBOOT mode, or whatever it is called, I need to know if everything is working ok on the phone? I don't want to brick my $550 phone and it only be used as paper weight. Will this update void the exchange warranty on the device? Please advise. Thank you!

Let me make sure I am clear here. If I reboot the phone, push down POWER and VOLUME down, it will go through the process then ask me if I want to update/upgrade. When I push the VOLUME UP button, it will update...yes...but did you experience any problems? IF something goes horribly wrong, am I able to revert back to the stock OS?

Ideally that's what would happen. The only problem I experienced was that it just wouldn't update when I didn't have S-Off it would find the update start unpacking it, fail, then just boot to gingerbread. I also noticed after a failed attempt like that I'd have to recopy the ph85img.zip file to my sdcard, the old one seemed to have been corrupted. There's always a risk associated with flashing non-official roms and updates to your phone. If you don't want to void your warranty It's probably better that you wait for the official update.

I think you are right! I have read reports the update should hit when the new One S goes on sale, WHICH is tomorrow. So, hopefully T-Mobile will push out the OTA tomorrow or this week. Thank you for your advice on this.
According to TMONEWS.com the amaze is scheduled for 6/16.
The Official Tmobile ICS update for the Amaze is finally out (May 21st). My question is very similar the OP. My phone has never been rooted, it has S-on and I finally received the notification for ICS update. My question is can I still get S-off after I do the OTA ICS update? OR should I get S-off first then upgrade to ICS?
Rasco702 yes you can still S-Off your device. There are 2 methods of the Juopunutbear S-Off Method. One for Gingerbread and one for ICS. Even if you wanted to soff while in gingerbread you can flash the RUU for ICS.

You can pretty easily unroot/return to stock. I did that recently when my 4G radio stopped working and got a free replacement in 3 days. Follow this guide, but the download for the pg86img is outdated so get the zip from here.
Or if you're not running a custom ROM, you can just download a different launcher and in the settings hide the superuser app. That's all they check for.

Thanks guys, I was wondering because the guy at the store said they wouldn't work on a rooted phone, but wondered if they would check the bootloader to see if it says unlocked or relocked.
"How come you are not baptized?"
If you are worried about it, just unroot and go back to a stock rom. It really only takes a few minutes to unroot, and then reroot when you get it back. That little time can save you trouble if they do fully check to see if you are rooted. I know a lot of people say their local stores don't check, but if your store does check, you would be screwed.

I've been on hboot 1.4, don't really want to upgrade to 1.5 then go through the process of downgrading. But I was just curious if there was another, simpler way. Thanks.
"How come you are not baptized?"
You don't have to upgrade to 1.5. Just flash a stock rooted rom (the latest one, not sure of the version number), then unroot. You will still be on 1.5 as long as you dont run the full RUU. Then you can re-root when you get it back.

if you flash an earlier ruu like the version that starts with 1.13, it includes hboot 1.4 and stock recovery. Then you won't have to mess with downgrading. When I returned to stock this way I was glad I did because they immediately went to recovery to reset to see if that solved my problem.

I ended up just flashing a stock rom that was rooted and just deleted the su app as suggested. They fixed it and didn't check for root in the bootloader. But I did watch as he scrolled through my app drawer, I assume looking for su. Thanks for the advice everyone.
"How come you are not baptized?"
I just bought a Rezound and it is continuously freezing and rebooting within 5 minutes of booting. It usually occurs when unlocking the screen. This occurred on the latest gingerbread release even after 2 factory resets and after upgrading with the leaked ICS ruu. I already did the boot loop fix by making sure WCDMA was not set for the network type. It even freezes with the back cover off and the sim card removed. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?
Call 611 and have it replaced. It's borked.

Was phone full stock and not tapered? If so then yes defective.
Are you rooted? if so did you run the ics ruu and then go back to gingerbread?
because that would be your issues right there
The phone is 100% stock, it has never been rooted. All I did was upgrade with the leaked ICS ruu. My question is if I call into Verizon will they care that I upgraded with the leaked ruu and if so can I downgrade back to gb I know if I use the gb ruu it will say unable to downgrade to older version.

no, it doesnt need to be on for long
but you need to HTCDev unlock and root it
ive run the Controlbear program when the boot animation starts and before it could even finish it rebooted it to hboot
The HTCdev unlock only requires the bootloader which I can run all day without the phone freezing. If controlbear doesnt require much time with the phone on I will give it a shot and hope for the best.

I was thinking that and I am definitely gonna try it cuz I have nothing to lose.
the s off method only puts the phone into bootloader and recovery. You could probably start in fastboot and it should be able to read it.
I would probably try and get it replaced from verizon. My guess is the memory is faulty. Only explanation if you had the problem on GB and on the ICS RUU since the RUU replaces everything from radios, to rom to kernel.
You did run the ICS RUU twice? That is required to fully flash it.
Yes I did do it twice and the same problems occurred I will run the s off from fastboot and get back to stock and give Verizon a call
I know I can unroot through supersu but I want to return to complete stock because I am needing to return it to the Sprint store. Any ideas anyone?
You don't necessarily need to go fully back to bone stock.. I mean the proper way to do it would be to flash a RUU or an update.zip the 0P3IMG.zip through bootloader if available and must be on an SD Card... Or there is a mod that can change your "Unlocked" flag to "Locked" even though it's unlocked and you can also change your security flag from S-OFF to S-ON with still being S-OFF'ed and then unroot with SuperSU... That would be the option to do if you don't have a RUU or 0P3IMG to flash... Or if any other Sprint users here can upload all the partitions for you in a ".img" format and you can fastboot them all back individually... Hope this info helps!

well yeah, it seems to be that the Dev is busy, you could PM him a request. If you want to do that yourself, you could find tutorials on the HTC One forum.
