Best rom for x10 mini pro with Gingerbread? - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi guys
I'm trying the GinTonic rom by slade after some roms with Froyo.
What rom do you use? Why?
Gingerbread or Froyo?

I use MiniCM7 Pro by paul-xxx, it's very good, quick and stable, but if you want a battery saver forget Gingerbread and use Froyo or Eclair roms...

I'm not looking for a battery saver. I bought another battery for that xD

I was using MiniCM7 Pro on my U20i but anytime someone tried to call me it rung once on their end then went straight to unable to connect call, and on my phone all that happened was my balance came up after the person had hung up their phone, texts were ok it was only the incoming calls that were the problem, Ive gone back to stock rom as im waiting on a job interview result so cant afford not to have incoming calls

i've had a great experience with gingerdx. you should give it a try. you won't be disappointed

I've been trying literally all roms and versions available at XDA, and CM7Pro_v7x is by far the most stable and lagless of them. Although paul-xxx says this version has no bugs at all, the infamous radio issue isn't fixed yet. All in all, this one is a great piece of work.

Sonybread CM7 SP2(+hotfix) my opinion

GingerDX
I tested: GinTonic and GingerDX
GinTonic v1.3: it's good, no bugs for me, but I felt heavy.
GingerDX v10: Very quickly, the module smartass, spare battery. Bug: wifi reconnect every 3 minutes.

The best ROM is Donut from SE...
lol, I'm kidding. I like MiniCM7 Pro from paul-xxx, GingerDX from D4, SonyBread from paul-xxx and still don't tested slade Gintonic

Im new to this the first one i have installed is MiniCM7 pro v7x and i love it, now even tho i love it im hooked and want to try another lol

I'm using GingerDX for several weeks, but for someone as mobile as me, I think the battery drain issue makes you a little bit.. Err.. how to say? need a backup battery?

gintonic feels too heavy... and i got my phone bricked 3 times in 2 days... cm7 by paul has many little bugs... for me, the gingerdx worked better

One of the biggest dangers of flashing

I use gintonic, tried gingerdx but apps were missing from the market and couldnt find a workaround and no reply from dev so im not going to bother with it although it looks nice

I'm using GinTonic.SE for 4 days now. It's REALLY fast and pretty stable, but I get only 30-34h worth of battery life (I used to get almost 50h with Froyo CM6)...

I know how ya feel, ive only just started modding since finding xda dev forums and ive now tried gingerdx, sonybread and im now using miniCM7 Pro v7+ by paul-xxx had a incoming call problem until the hotfix was released but now I find it the best and most stable by far, even had to do my other halfs mini pro when she seen mine, battery life has doubled too
Sent from my U20i using XDA App

Can't decide between GingerDX and MiniCM7.

MiniCM7 v6
I have tried paul-xxx's ROMs and I think MiniCM7 v6 is the most stable. I have also tried v7+hotfix but it didn't fix the radio. Also, GPS not working. Waiting for v8!

regarding free X10 2.2 beta 4

i dont mean to rush the developers by thiis but more a question of curiosity
will the 2.2 froyo rom make it out of beta and into a stable rom with total funcionality?
because i already see a gingerbread rom up too lol how would a gingerbread rom pop up before the froyo was finished?
EDIT -- i get it, stupid question and i apologize if i offended anybody
It's a polite way to say it but its still rude. I have beta 4 for freex10 2.2 and its pretty stable, but it has its bugs. Camera even works with an app called vignette. Camcorder works with videocamera illusion. Its not done but I use it for everyday use without an issue. You should try it.
And I too use beta3 with vignette and. Videcam illusion and no problems at all, no reboots or weird activity or anything....better than what I was getting from 1. 6 or 2.1 that's for sure.

Although 2.3 is out, 2.2 is better than 2.1 in my opinion because of its faster speed. It's much cleaner and without a lot of junk like 2.1 has. The themes are also really cool too. I usually don't find any problems with it much unless you happen to bring something from 2.1 to 2.2 which might screw things up a little.
Since it's so easy why don't you develop a 2.2 rom then?

once again .. didint mean to rush or be rude or anything, just curious to see if 2.2 wouldnt get completed as a result of trying to perfect the newcomer 2.3
i know these devs are doing this for us, and they are doing a fantastic jjob
since i joined xda i have learned alot and done a few mods, but im still a bit skeptical about jumping into a beta rom in case of problems, my phone is something i need to work anytime no excuses.. i cant afford to be caught with a phone that doesnt call out or something
I'm sure z will finish his at some point. As will trip and the others. Just relax at this point and use what you can to speed up 2.1. Once they are final then make a jump. I run the cyanogen combo rom as a daily and haven't had too many bugs but if you need rock solid stability stick with se firmware for now.

[Q] What is the most stable foryou rom to x10?

Please, I want to know what is the most stabe rom, now I use CM6.1.3 by Wolfbreak but it has many bugs and become slow sommetimes, please excuse my English, thank you.
Erickwill's 2.1 ROM, easily.
It's as fast if not faster than all other 2.2 and 2.3 ROMS.
No functionality is lost because it's 2.1, so camera and stuff completely works.
And just today I got my batter to last 4 days. 2G Networks, no 3G, but I used music 2 hours a day every day as well as 1.5 hrs browsing the webs and messaging/facebook. The 2nd best I got was 2 days with WB's ROM. Amazing. The battery life is the real seller for me for this ROM.
Rock stable, not one crash, excellent performance, and godly battery life, and regularly updated
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941745
Of course it differs by taste as well, and there are also other amazing ROMs, but this one is just my personal favorite.
EDIT:GAH! Didn't read the title properly, you're looking for Froyo, sorry! In that case, Cobrato has a nice MIUI ROM, but imo WB's rom is the best 2.2 one.
But overall I like eric's 2.1 ROM the best

+1 fastest froyo rom around imo
Cobratos MIUI is very fast, Im just not an MIUI fan and the camcorder was lackluster compared to wolfbreak. Im using pzafroyo 2.2, Its real smooth and everything is working bu camera zoom. Ill be trying the ewjet 2.1 today, im gonna miss flash player tho.
Achotjan froyo 2.2.1 (v2.2) is the most stable ROM
the most stable and "comfortablest"
rom
is made by wolfbreak with working carmera/ camcorder
for barcode scanning use scanlife from the market

i tryed all of the 2.2 roms all of them has issues specially with Bluetooth headset.
they dont recognize the 2nd partition in ur sd.they gave fc in many other application that use the camera.no zoom in cam no flash light ..etc...
but if you wanna be with 2.2 i prefer miuitrip has great battery life but sometimes the voice in bluetooth headst become very low .thatz my 2 cents
Latest Wolfbreak's ROM is very smooth, u might give a chance to it
I flashed to TripNMiUI 1.0.63-TripNRaVeR 4 days ago.
Been really happy with it.
personally i would say for 2.2 "froyo" free x10 beta 4 ,but if you don't care for the camera much then i would say go for the 2.3 cm 7 it is amazing very fast and reliable
Sam
both tripandmiui 1.0.63 and wolfbreaks v006 rom are very stable and have fully working camera
my wife uses trips rom cause it looks better with theme support and very smooth, besides, i personally prefer wolfbreaks rom because it feels more pure and fast for me
i haven't tried any other ROM, so i cant say they are good or bad..
I have, trips rom called cm 6.1.3 v06 Android 2.2.1 and it works flawless on my baseband 2.1.54, no comments about it, and the camera works fine to.
Im from The Netherlands and i still waiting about the official 2.3 update !!!!

Wolfy's ROM + K10 Custom Kernel is the way to go. Of course the K10 disables the Camcoder but the FPS Cap removal is totally worth the penalty.
Cheers.

[Q] Unoriginal custom kernels for Mini Pro, how good are they?

So, these new Kernels. I've waited with installing them until they were more finished and now I was wondering how people think they are compared to the stock one.
Do they contain the same features and do all of them work?
Are they faster?
Are they stable?
Good things, bad things about upgrading?
Was thinking these things would be nice to know for everybody thinking of switching
I guess you should try one out to find out. Ofcourse they are much faster, lighter and efficient than the stock kernel. Since we are using Gingerbread now mostly, these kernels provide better support for them.
If they weren't any different from the stock kernels...why do you think devs would make them? Hope you get the message.

I get the message alright, but since you have a mini and therefore have not tried the x10 mini pro kernels (which are all still quite new), it's not a fact that they are faster, lighter, more efficient or provide better support for Gingerbread.
That's why I asked for people who have tried the x10 mini pro kernels about their experiences with them. I could try it myself, but since that voids the guaranty please respect my wishes to do some research first.
one word, yes. they are better, faster, and smoother. worth doing.
I will put it this way, we had various modules to load. they are now in the kernel itself.
hardware communication is improved, and have a speed difference (very slightly i guess).
Thats all maybe.
i preffer this for mini pro phone : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256095&page=41
i use it too.. and my phone is like 40-50% faster with custom rom
custom kernel is a lot faster than stock kernel, very responsive.
about the stability is depends, the custom kernel is kind new to all of us and the dev is still developing their custom kernel, so bugs is still expected unless they mentioned it final release.
so the dev also encourage us to test the custom kernel, so if we found bugs and report it back, it will be contributions to the dev to make a better and bugs free kernel
Ive used both and they are great
Zombiepanic fixes the touch bug with the statusbar and stuff
D4kernel is also great but no more updates due to him leaving
Both are very stable. Havent had a random reboot and used D4's since release so ive had a long time of testing
Hope this helped

Ferralab roms sounds good, but now I deffinettly will stick with x10S v9, give a shot for it, after SE stock rom its will feel blazing FAST (not so fast like ICS, but seems like best alternative for stock rom)

Advice???

I currently have a x10i and have had it for years now its been flashed and rooted but sometimes the phone freezes during some games ie pool break pro which is a pain also the rom development has slowed down considerable so
I have been offered a swap for a x10 mini pro but would like some advice whether its worth it and how far the device is with development I'm looking to stay on cm based roms and any downfalls of the device?

The x10i is the 'big' experia X10. It has seen more development than it's smaller cousins (x10 mini and x10 mini pro), but i'm guessing any CM-based roms are roughly on par with what you have now. The hardware (processor, memory etc.) are roughly the same so you shouldn't expect miracles.
i know its pretty similar but the x10i ics roms has no video camera and has been the issue for nearly 6 months and that is why im kinda leaning away from the x10i are you able to tell me if the mini pro ics roms are the same and how does ics/jb roms run on mini pro

They're ok-ish, especially MiniCM10 (JB) by nobodyAtall (nAa) is pretty impressive, and he sort of managed to fix the camera and video. Not perfect, but usable at least. But if you have problems with laggy games, then ICS or JB wouldn't be the right choice anyway, because they're very memory-hungry. In that case you should stick to a GB rom, which has a lower memory footprint and uses up less cpu. GingerDX v 029 looks very ICS/JB like but is based on CM7-GB, and is very fast.
And besides that, the hardware keyboard will not work 'out of the box' on ICS or JB, there is a workaround, but you'll have to fix that yourself. There are instructions in the dev-threads on how to do that.

Flashtool: Yes
Miui: GB-version by Rempty seems to have reached 'just-about-perfect' status, you'll need nAa-13 or nAa-14 kernel for that. Dev-thread is here
There are (I believe) two ICS-versions too, but i think they still lack the camera-fixes and haven't been updated in a while.
