I found this MOD to enable more Home screen for Default Launcher
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138791
I Modded one with 7 Home screen with 100% Transparency
View attachment Home.apk
Thanks for the information! BTW, this it for new firmware right?
EDIT : It says application not installed
Cool, thanks... so how do I replace it? Just installed it or need to delete previous home? so I guess its possible to have transition effect for the home eh soon?
Download, move to system/app, change permissions (same as original), move original se home to sd card, reboot. 7 screens, v. handy, thanks
sinkster
So that's need to root huh? Thanks for the information!
Yes you need root. Use Root Explorer and replace the Home.apk to System/apps
or use ADB
Code:
adb push Home.apk /sdcard/
adb shell
$su
#mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock0 /system
#busybox cp -R /sdcard/Home.apk /system/app/
#sync
#reboot
Thanks thomassafca for the steps.

Anyway to mod it with 5 rows instead of default 4 rows? (I'm ok if you could post the modded apk file instead also)
Modify the integers.xml under Home.apk\res\values
Code:
<integer name="number_of_desktop_panes">[B][COLOR="Red"]5[/COLOR][/B]</integer>
I can modify but I have to do it when I get home. Now I'm at office.
Can we get more rows and columns please?

Not sure if that's possible. If you like you could use this program.

Hello all,
I am running Check Rom V6 right now. I have 5 icons, dialer, contacts, messaging, home, and apps. I was wondering if someone could guide me on how to use these icons. They are all in a .png format. Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks

What launcher are you using? Most allow you to replace icons with ones of your choosing, you'll just have to put them on your sdcard.
If you're wanting to theme icons at the system level, or your launcher doesn't allow you to select a custom icon, then you'll have to modify apks.

Send me the icons and I'll make a flashable .zip for you that will change them, hassle free ( plus a recovery one so you can revert them if you don't like them ).
It's 2 minutes of work
Edit : I figure you want to change them while using Touchwiz, because replacement launchers do it easily anyway
Thank You Sir!!!!
I have uploaded the contacts messaing apps and all icons i dont need the dialer as it is stock look in the newest 2.3.6 builds

CWM -> Install update from sdcard ( don't worry about "enter the Vertumus world" text, I just edited Vert's zip a bit )
tested on my phone and works like a charm
Now I just need to wait till my CheckROM v6 finishes downloading so I can make a restore zip for you.
I'm not sure what the default icons are in new version and I need it anyway
Check this post later on. Post a screenshot when you flash it

Not strictly true - although it is an app drawer replacement.
Can change icons and names with this, my favourite ever app ever of all time ever.
As I've posted before, if there's an easier way to edit icons/text and retain functionality, I have yet to find it.
Especially because I couldn't modify an apk if my life was at stake...

Actually, the easiest way is using vrtheme, no need to modify apks or use anything else than the Touchwiz launcher itself

This is my mod of the TouchWiz Launcher taken from WanamLite's v1.4 (XXALJ7) and modded using the guide found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27433971#post27433971
Credits go to Wanam for his ROM and Toss3 for his newbie friendly guide.

If there is enough interest, I will "try" to work on other sizes. I can't guarantee anything though as it takes a lot of patience to get the layout right. I do have a working 5x5 homescreen and drawer so I can upload that if anyone wants it. Personally, I prefer the 4x5 layout cause it gives me one more row of icons while still retaining some "breathing space".

I think so. Why don't you give it a try? Just backup your SecLauncher2.apk and also install Apex Launcher for fallback in case something goes wrong, and if it does, just copy back the backed up file to system/app.

I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27433971#post27433971 to decompile the widget apk, edit the required values and recompile the apk.
After decompiling the widget apk, you have to play around with the values found in "res\values-sw359dp-xhdpi\dimens.xml". It's mostly trial and error. Other XMLs might be needed but I fixed the Favorite Contacts widget with "dimens.xml" alone. I also edited some pngs in "res\drawable-sw359dp-xhdpi" to fix aspect ratios but it's not needed if you're fine with some circles being a bit oval.
I extracted the command center widget from my droid turbo for use on my new moto x. The zip contains the apk and odex.apk. use a file browser and place them both in system/app folder. Change permissions on the apk file to 0777. To get it to fit properly on stock launcher you must have xposed installed and use xposed gel settings. In home screen change width to -2 and widget will fit properly. If you're using a third party launcher it should fit fine.

So this won't work without root?
Nope. Tried to install like a normal apk. No luck @sthpaw01
damn you verizon!
just thinking will this work on non rooted motox if i deodex the app
Sent from my XT1092
Looks cool! Thanks for sharing!
It is my understanding that 0777 translates to rwx rwx rwx. After copying the apk and odex files to system/app and changing permissions for the apk file, it still refuses to install on my rooted xt1092. Am I doing something wrong? I'm quite the noob when it comes to setting permissions, so I won't be surprised if I've messed up at that step.

It didn't shrink the widget it just made room for the widget to fit on the screen I haven't had time to try to decompile and resize the widgets manually I will when I get a chance here's a picture to show that it will that when adjusting the margins

On mine, it's not the margins that's cutting off the sides, it's that the widget is physically too big for the screen. See my screenshot. Are you sure you haven't done anything else prior that would affect it? Like changing your DPI or something? The widget looks smaller on yours than it does mine.

Nope that's all I did. I tried resizing it first but couldn't get it to take. After taking margins to -2 it just barely fits

The new Nova Launcher has a feature to get rid of the bar completely while on homescreens, the bar is still there though while on the lock screen and some apps. A good alternative to those of us that can't root. I can't show a screen shot cause I'm new.

Hello!!
update my note 4 mm. I really liked it
but when you start the power saving status bar is grayed
it is awful
there any way to turn it transparent?
Hi All,
I'm new to this forum. Currently using pixel 3 on nova and don't plan to root. I really like the UI on stock pixel three but three things are driving me nuts.
No notification numbers
Cant use icon packs
Unable to change grid size
That huge bat that comes with new navigation gestures (I do like the idea though)
Question is, are there any lightweight launchers that can do all that? Plus if possible still have new pixel gestures but with a transparent navigation bar? I'm currently using nova, although I like it, I would want something that closely mimics the pixel 3 UI. Anything a out there that does all that. Thanks for the help!
Dav
Check this forum for TulsaDiver's P3 launcher mod script. I've not wanted to move away from the stock launcher but couldn't stand the search bar, grid size and icon labels. He put in a ton of work and built an ADB based solution.

What I mean is when you open multitask (sliding up from bottom) with default launcher you get some quick access to most used apps and also multitask (that 2 things at same time), also the sliding option is integrated, so if you slide half way it opens multitask with quick acces, and if you slide up until the end, it open the app box.
I didnt find any way to replicate that.
Well, no third party launcher can do what you want... yet.
If you want to keep the stock launcher and change icons, root is the way to go, sadly.
