There seems to be something wrong with my battery life.
When I first flashed it to VillainROM, i had great battery life about 3% loss overnight
After that I tried Litening and Cognition and now back to VillainROM, my battery has gotten worse - lasts about 1 day on light use and lose about 10-15% overnight.
This isnt normal is it ? So I was wondering how can i fix it ?? I was thinking to restore back to factory and then re-flash it again..
What do I need to do ?
You can Factory Reset you device by pressing *2767*3855#, but that won't give you factory ROM, for that you have to download a stock ROM and flash it via Odin.
Regards.
Go into CWM and do a reset from there. Also do davlik and system wipe. then reflash.

I just tried using ODIN to go from KA5 to KA6 and I'm stuck at the S after rebooting.
I had no such problems going to KA5.
I did do a battery pull and then clear cache partition, but still stuck. That's what unstuck me last time.
I also just tried a reflash and same thing.
What else can I try?
I'd rather not do a data wipe, but is that likely that will work? I did do a full Titanium prior to the flash.
Nevermind. Came up after the 2nd flash! phew
when you were flashing did you repartition or have pit set? did you have any lagfixes running on KA5?
He probably didn't wait long enough after loading new rom and reboot. the S screen takes up to 30 seconds sometimes to go threw booting up your device and also sometimes you will not have service, If that happens you need to reboot your device again and you should be golden
Yes, I think that probably was it.
My bad.
Hi,
I have an unlocked UK S2 phone on the stock 4.0.4 kernel. It's an Orange branded phone if that has any relevance.
I have noticed that my GPS no longer will fix at all. Left it for a good 30 minutes but no luck,
Googling suggests a hard reset or clearing the dalvik cache.
I'm unable to clear the cache as the phone is not rooted.
I then stumbled upon various threads about a bug which can cause the phone to be bricked if certain operations
are performed (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756242) on a 4.0.4 kernel and certain firmware versions for the flash memory - which mine appears to have!
I definitely don't want to brick my phone!
2 questions:
1. I'm not clear if I hard reset on stock 4.0.4 can brick it. I think so. But it's not clear (to me). Is that correct? And if so, is there a way to do a hard reset without the risk of bricking it? Any step-by-step instructions would be most helpful.
2. Any other suggestions that can get the GPS working again?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
ist flash a safe kernal like siyah 4.1.5 or an earlier version of Dorimanx without mali drivers using odin as the brick bug has been diabled..
This will allow you to do resets and wipes without any problems.
A hard reset for sgs2 is simply removing the battery and reinstalling it.
Factory reset will wipe user data and return the phone back to stock 4.0.4 without any customizations.
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. My badly worded email - when I said hard reset I was really meaning factory reset to wipe it.
I got the impression from the thread I linked to that the very act of flashing a kernel/wiping caches etc could cause the brick bug.
Or is that not correct?
I have since rooted my phone. I'm wondering if it is safe to just remove everything in the dalvik-cache directory from an adb command line prompt? The phone will obviously be still running at this point. Or would it be safer to clockwork mod recovery on and do it from there?

I have been having major problems with my i9100. The main symptom is that if shut down the fun in a violent way, i.e by taking the battery out or if it dies on me, then on restart it will just be stuck on the bootloader (the first i9100 screen) and won't boot. The only way i've found to fix this is by going into recovery and doing a factory reset, but this just keeps on happening.
i am using wanamlite rom LSD but this also happend with omega rom.
I tried to completely reset using odin, so i downloaded the odin image of JB but it wouldnt install, would take like 10 minutes and tell me it failed with no specific reason. So baisiaclly odin is off as well. i obviously also tried deleting chace delvik cache, reinstalling rom, installing different kernels (like siyah, it would even boot). nothing works! this is really frustrating, almost every day i need to completetly reinstall everything on my phone. Any ideas what is going on?
It seems that LS8 and LSD both have it. Try to flash LSJ or go back to ICS and wait for an official patch (fingers crossed).

Nuke script can get your device all cleaned up.

There is no bootloop or boot bug with JB roms. Its simply that people are not properley doing a clean install. A normal wipe data/factory reset is not enough in this case. Instead you need to format the /emmc and /sdcard or you can try the rom/kernel nuke scripts from dev forum.
Backup needed apps/appdata using TB pro or restore from a nandroid using appextractor.
Hey guys, last night my s3 ran out of battery while I was sleeping. I woke up to charge it and turn it on although it's just stuck on boot loop now. Any ideas? I don't really want to have to restore it through clockwork recovery if I can avoid it.. any ideas?
Running CyanogenMod 10
Recovery and wipe caches .

Thanks for your reply. Wiping the cache hasn't seemed to have done anything, any more suggestions?
well, try formatting system and reflashing
Thank you, just need to re root, re flash and restore from backup now.
I'm having a similar issue. Last night my S3 ran out of battery and it went off. I tried to power it on again, and it started to show the boot logo. But it went off again because there was no battery. I changed the battery and now I have a bootloop. I made a backup, and then I started trying solutions. The only one that works is wiping data/factory reset. And then, if I restore ONLY the data partition from the backup the boot loop comes back. So whatever it is, is on the data partition. But how to diagnose it or solve it? I don't wanna lose my apps or their configuration!!
Any help??

Well done for searching but this thread is from last year so a better option would of been to start a new one and linked to this one in your post saying what you have done.
If the phone turns off do to a empty battery there's a chance it can corrupt files. This is what this sounds like, no option to clean install.
Thanks for the info, I ended up using a backup.
I normally don't post unless I've exhausted every other option.
But this issue I am having has completely baffled me, and I really have exhausted every thing I know.
I was going through a rash of flashing roms on my I9300.
After finding an issue downgrading from 4.2.2 back down to 4.1.2. I Odin back to stock... so I though ok lets have another go at it.
However... Every ROM I flash will not boot (ie stuck @ Samsung I9300 screen). The flash goes well, MD5's are all ok, and I made sure to wipe data and cache like I've don't 500 times b4 on a dozen different phones.
I've even tried keeping the stock rom, simply rooted and just flashing another kernel both speedmod and siyah for 4.1.2... no go... no boot. I'm not quite sure what the issue is as it boots just fine on stock.
Any opinions?
Did you do a full wipe?
(Factory reset, Format system, cache, data and preload)
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Premium HD app
Yep, full wipe each time, I even went so far as to format internal SD from CWM, just in case there was anything lingering.
did you try a mega wipe (will erase anything besides ext. sd)?
did you try to run a custom rom with stock kernel (as I understand stock rom & kernel are working?)?
Yep everything has been wiped down to the core.
And yes stock rom runs fine, and boots fine right off of odin, and even after running CF-Root.
I only get this no booting issue when trying to flash any other rom, even ones that I've previously flashed today b4 my first odin back to stock.
It def has something to do with the soft brick I recovered from earlier today, but I'm just not sure how or why, since I wiped everything and re flashed with odin.
Must be missing something tho.
Edit: Will try Flashing UltimaRom again with default setting and stock kernal see if anything changes.
Ok well i'm not really sure what I did, but I wiped everything again, from data to cache, to preload.
Reflashed ultimarom, this time on stock kernel, and whalha! Boot!
Then went back and flashed Siyah 1.8.9, and that booted ok aswell.
Not quite sure what the problem was but it seems to have been fixed.
Maybe phone was just being moody after all the flashes today!
Thanks for your help!
