I recently installed wolf's rom and I am seeing that my battery is going down quickly when in use... I can't post in the developer thread as my post count is less.
Can someone help me out ?
I was on the original rom before.. the battery life was much better at that time.
Hi,
check with CPU spy if your X10 enters deep sleep mode. I had the problem 2-3 times that my phone didnĀ“t enter deep sleep and that drained my battery.
Ralf
Just checked ...
998 MHz - 43%
768 MHz - 18%
576 MHz - 19%
384 MHz - 2%
245 MHz - 6%
Deep Sleep - 8%
My brother was playing Angry Birds on it (just for info)
I have noticed that the battery works fine when the phone is not in use... As soon as I start using it the battery icon starts reducing..
couple of issues.. first of all the battery life while using the phone has reduced it was better previously..
The phone appears to be more heated when playing games..
I updated the rom as well but after that I found bravia engine and xloud disappeared, then I installed the addon for bravia engine and xloud.. after that I checked the phone info and I found that the rom that is displayed is Wolf_Xperia_4.2.1_cust
Same here, on Wolf_Xperia_4.0.3_cust, was working almost perfectly on previous release but this seems to drain 5% in 3-5 mins use. The phone is fine when in deep sleep.
I have check CPU Spy and the phone does enter deep sleep. Almost as soon as the display come on it goes down 1%.
It's very strange.

Hi guys,
So for the past week or so, I've been noticing really bad battery drain on my GS2, and I think I have finally pinpointed the problem.
"BetterBatteryStats" has told me that there are 2 specific wakelocks running in the background, which prevent the phone from going to 'deep-sleep'. These are the "suspend" and "events/0" processes. They are on for hours, preventing the phone from going into a proper 'deep-sleep', and keeping it awake.
My question is, how would I stop these processes from running? I know for a fact that it is not such a common 'bug', because tons of people are getting >18 hours on their GS2 with moderate/heavy use, while I'm only getting about 10 with light/moderate usage.
So in short, why are the "suspend" and "events/0" processes running while the phone is supposed to be in sleep mode, and how do I stop them from running and draining battery?
Thanks everyone!
Well I don't have that problem so can't say. You should ask it on the BBS dedicated thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Regards.
This is the famous "Android OS" bug, which happens only on SGS2. Search the forum and you'll see quite a few threads about it. There is no solution, but keeping wifi off when not in use or setting is to sleep when screen is off helps quite a bit.

It's not only a bug on SGS2. I've been fighting this problem for quite a while on my Nook Color with CM7. Here's the thread I started.
hmm, I am having this problem as well, I'm used to my iphone, where i can use it all day and still remain above 50% meanwhile every time i pop the screen on my GS2 the percentage is down from last time. its horrible, very much considering going back, I love this phone, but this battery draining situation is out of control for me.. midnight -8:30 i lost 45 percent battery.. screen off..

well for me, installing the siyah 1.8 kernel has sorted it and my battery life is pretty damn good now.
Others will tell you its not fixed and the extra battery life im getting is a placebo. But all i know is i used to get 3 hours screen on time and lose 15-20% battery overnight. Now i lose 2% overnight and get 5-6 hours screen on time. If thats placebo then so be it.

hmm, ok, I will look into kernels, I am using an AT&T SGS2 so its a little different kernel wise. I have yet to find anything in my specific forums though.. just switched from an eperimental kernel to a stable, so maybe this will help
I think I just read somewhere in the Galaxy S2 forum that AOS isn't exactly solved on the .14 kernel (which siyah 1.8 is based on)..... it just merely not include suspend and events/0 into the Android OS count for the battery.....
Anyone can shed some light on this?

is siyah 1.8 better for battery life compared to siyah 2.1 or the newer one?
I tried 2.1, but I still have high android OS.
Using bbs, I see that suspend and events/0 is still around 1 to 3 minutes each day.
I have turned off:
Accounts and sync > background data & auto-sync,
Privacy > back up my data,
Location and sec > use wireless networks.
Any other advice?

Use a 2.3.4/2.3.5 based ROM such as CheckROM HD or Hyperdroid-Androidmeda with Darknight-Siyah Kernel.
I get 3 days of use if i keep data off . With Data on and normal usage i get on average 0.7-1% drop per hour compared to 3-4% of 2.3.3 ROM.I think it's a combination of kernel and ROM that solves the problem.
Earlier CPU Spy used to show lots of time spent at 800Mhz which is what android OS bug does. Now i see it spending 1-2% time in 800Mhz and most of time in deep sleep.
thanks for the reply.
now I am using CRv3.1.1 with speedmod 18test3.
but it seems that from day to day, events/0 & suspend are getting bigger and bigger.
do you know why?
I upgraded to KI3 a long time ago, and froze the hubs + wifi sharing / wifi sharing manager (i never even used the hubs anyways), and what do you know; my battery can now easily last me a LONG time, after 16 hours it still always has AT LEAST 40% remaining, and that is with a few hours screen-on time, data sometimes on, wifi usually always on! I'm extremely happy now!
So in short, for those of you with bad battery life, the least you could do is upgrade to XXKI3 or XXKI4 (they're pretty much the same thing) firmware/kernel. Even completely stock without root/frozen apps is A LOT better than any other 2.3.4 / 2.3.3 ROMs.
CRv3.1.1 is already based on xxkj3, and I have already frozen most of samsung bloatware.
However, I have just found out that kernel is an important factor in high suspends and events/0.
Now I use the previous version: speedmod 17 test 1, and suspends & events/0 decrease a lot.
I recently just flashed the latest Siyah Kernel. I notice that my 'Display is 75%' on battery. My brightness settings is already set to manual its on 20%? whats wrong?
and is it normal after flashing a kernel, will my battery rapidly decrease cause current its down to 80% from 100% for only 2 hours. Im not a heavy user.
no its not atleast not for me... what rom are u using? are u sure there isnt any apps that is draining ur phone? are u sure ur phone goes to deep sleep?
use there apps to check:
betterbatterystats (wakelocks)

currently im using stock rom 2.3.6. gonna try out those two apps now

yes my battery does go into deep sleep.
for wakelocks.
there are alot of android system apps that has a count of more than 300 -.-
so what do i do?
You let your phone run for 8-10 hrs (overnight, after a period of use, etc) then you have a look @ wakelocks in BBS. 10 minutes isn't going to tell you anything.
I'm also using Siyah 2.6.13 & am having no problems whatsoever.
Edit to add - Also read the BetterBatteryStats thread, particularly the first 20/last 20 pages. Once you've read the thread & let you phone run for that 8-10 hrs, you'll be able to ask in the thread what details/screenshots you'll need to post in order for the guys who post regularly in the thread to help you. They're the experts, far more likely to get the help you need doing it this way.

I am currently having some issues with Siyah kernal on Wanam's ICS rom. battery drain is significantly higher for some reasons. I also had a lot of FC and reboot freeze, cpu profilers such as setcpu will crash the phone etc. I also noticed the same thing for the 2.3.5 roms onwards.
anyway my personal experience at the moment. I am reverting back to the leaked ICS kernel until the kernel can be sorted.

Siyah doesn't support any ICS ROMs. Says so right at the top of the first post of the Siyah thread.
EDIT: looks like GohkanMoral recently (like TODAY) posted on his website about an alpha version of Siyah that supports ICS... but it's not released yet, and it IS an alpha.
I have been Using my SGS2 on cm7 since the day i bought it some days back.. The thing is i dont get good battery life. Battery Monitor Widget Pro shows -10mA to -90mA and sometimes upto -150mA drain in stand by. Last night i lost 13% in 8 hours. I recharged it to 100% the battery drain was about -2mA for 4-5 hours then suddenly it increased to 50mA and now its -91mA since 2 hours continously. I am on Siyah Kernel. Smartassv2 kernel. Cpu underclocked to 1ghz. i Also have autokiller. brightness to lowest. And manually kill apps. I got the phone coz the my old iphone was not lasting a day but it did last 5-6 hours of screen on time. SGS2 doesnt give me over 3 hours of screen on time. NO WIFI. Just 2g data. Whatsapp every 10min. 4-5 min gaming a hour.

basicaly all MIUI roms are same, some developers in XDA are just ported with some tweeks and modifications.
some of them are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352386

The country of Origin of the MIUI is China and released in Chinese language, but there are variouse fan sites who translate the ROM into their language and port with great support. www.miuiandroid.com is famouse among them in english language.
I am currently using MIUI GB ROM and really enjoying it
check it out
i flashed ressurection rom ics. i got 3% drain in 7 hours overnight which is quite good but now again loosing -57mA in standby ie around 3 or so %/h... BetterBatterystats under partial wakelocks shows AudioOut_1 for 3m 17s , RILJ for 1m 9s and few other things ..Kernel Wakelock is (0s)Cntc/wc/ec/)1/1/1 100%.

so i went back to stock rom. Wiped out the storage. Reseted the phone. Installed nothing. Still i get -57mA battery drain that is almost 5-6% per hour in standby. I have searched like anything. I just cant seem to find anything. My android os usage is 70%. And the battery info shows phone awake for maximum time. i even undervolted on siyah kernel. Didnot use data at all but it shows no difference. Stock,Miui,Resurrection,cm7 no difference. I simply cant get over 4 hours of screen time and phone looses 20-25% over night with data disabled and no apps installed. Am seriously loosing faith on android.
Hello guys I am just new here and I am not able to post on the developer forums and only able to post here so here goes.
I am running my SGS2 on CM9 kernel and the Rootbox ICS 1.7 by bajee11 (many mnay thanks to him for the brilliant rom). But when I upgraded to 1.7 from 1.6 I noticed that the battery drains (well I would say) quite quickly when compared to 1.7. Mainly mobile standby and cell standby are showing up at 19% and 18% respectively. Is anyone else having this issue?
Also if anyone can help, when will I be able to post in the developer forums? Is it normally after 10posts?

I am using the CM9 kernel and using the TW launcher on it...I have also underclocked it to 800MHz with ondemand using NoFrills CPU control...do u think tat would affect that battery life....I see that you are using the same ROM with Dark Knight Kernel??? Please can you tell me how good is ur battery life....because I thnk its tha nature of my kernel so will need to try reflashing it with a better kernel.....
And just downloaded CPU spy and it seems 60% time it is in deepsleep, 21% on 200MHz, 5% on 500MHz, 8% on 800MHz nd 4% on 1200MHz...so i guess that is the reason why.....can you advise me as to how I can get that reduced????
Many users of CM9 FXP roms have reported a battery drain. I have submitted a bug report but it's been marked as invalid so we are not going to get support from FXP.
My suggestion is to really try and find out our selves why this is happening.
The battery drain is happening when the screen is off and the device should be asleep, it can drain up to 10% battery an hour. It doesn't happen in airplane mode.
If you have the battery drain issue please help us out by providing information here: battery stats, betterbatterystats, apps installed that could possibly be draining battery or preventing phone from sleeping, info about your carrier, other bugs you might have.
Please don't post here if you are using a modified version of the rom or kernel and if you haven't tried e full wipe.
R: XPERIA U - Battery drain with FXP roms
To "Greenify" apps is not a real solution(and btw doesn't even work for me) because we don't need to do this with the same apps installed on stock rom or older versions of FXP.
FXP did suggest in the comment that it might also be related to carrier so let's look into that.
I suggest trying to turn off "fast dormancy".
You'll find info about fd here http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-international/674208-fast-dormancy-in-nutshell.html
PS. I don't know how to disable fd on this device so if you find out how to do it let me know!
The phone seldom goes to sleep if the data is on. There is something about the data that keeps the phone awake all the time (not the case with WiFi).
Ha ve you tried to reboot your phone just after you disconnect the device from the battery charger?
Sometimes I've noticed that the battery drai was very fast, just after a full charge, and then, after a reboot, the battery drain returns normal.
R: XPERIA U - Battery drain with FXP roms
Ok, I've been testing battery drain with just wifi on. I've hibernated every app with Greenify one by one. After many tests I noticed that hibernating "Google Play Music" stops the drain when on wifi.
Tomorrow I'll test data and see if it's the same.
It's strange since the same app doesn't seem to cause this issue on stock rom or on other devices.
But I still have to test data so don't draw any conclusions yet.

Battery consumption is another issue, I'm talking about the battery drain that happens when you don't even use the phone.
For your issue check that the min CPU frequency on performance settings is 200, sometimes it's set on 1000 by mistake.

Ok, I've read the post and it makes sense, I'm not a developer but I seem understand that this elf. 3 is kind of misterous and it's needed to avoid battery drain. But FXP doesn't seem to agree.
A solution would be for someone to compile a kernel with elf.3, we can test it and see if battery drain dissappears!
This is strange, I just made few changes, and yesterday my battery lasted 13h with 5-and-a-half hours of screen on, better performance than in stock Rom...
Any of the custom kernels for CM have elf.3?

Don't know yet!
Edit: I know speedy kernel has.
Don't know about others
I did not plug off the phone from the charger until the status in settings>about phone>status>battery status changed from charging to charged, and in the SlimCM Rom I use there is a little bug with the CPU frequencies. So I checked that min freq and max freq were set to 200 and 1000 and set these to be applied on every boot.

Ok, yes, that is an other bug! And I had that too, but battery drain is a separate issue.
yeah I know, but at least on my case this did help a lot
I think it's kernel problem. Try another custom CM kernel.
