New 802 Radio - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any feedback on the new 802 GB radio? How's it seem to be working? I've been using the MR2 forever cause it has worked the best for me.
Just thought I would ask before I try it.

Been running the last couple days... Get better 4g lock in fringe areas... Overall feels stapler..
Sent from my A05PTH3ORYB0LT using Tapatalk

Seems okay so far. Might have gotten better bat life on 2.5.
Thunderbolt CM7 1.3
Tiamat 1.0.4

I'm getting better data reception. Getting 3 bars 4G in the hospital I previosly couldn't get a lock

Battery life??? Better?

New 802 radio
I have not tried it yet, I am running BAMF 3.0 4.9
Anyone try it yet?
I will probably flash the new radio tonight to see how it works.

i loaded this and there is no difference in the signal from MR 2.5, although my TB is in a 3G-only city so no idea if there's a difference with 4G or not.
i haven't tested out battery life yet though as the phone's been charging a few hours now(extended battery).
oh and i'm using A05PTH3ORY V1.4X

i don't use leaked beta radios. i don't need a brick.

well, i gave it a go. im using DT's AO5 however the hell you spell it AOSP rom. that and i have the 2750mAh extended battery. normally, when i go to bed, the next day the battery has lost 10 - 15%.... with this new radio, the battery was at 98% when i went to bed, then 69% when i woke up. i think im going to switch back to the MR 2.5

Can we please begin using RUU numbers to describe radios. The actual radio number most people use is just one of them and MRblah, blah, blah doesn't tell you jack because there's 2 MR2 radios, and it seems people are just inventing MR numbers now. Someone posted they were using the MR3.25 radio somewhere today. WHAT??? MR3???

The 802 radio has given me betterblife in both MonolithTh3ory and Cl3anTh3ory roms. Can't hurt to try it its benefited lots of us so far.

I'm a fan of if it ain't broke don't fix it. The only new radio I flashed was when i HAD to for the GB radio. Other than that, I have left mine be.

Radio

Hi all, just wanted to find out your opinions in updating from MR1 to MR2 aside from the facts that newer ROMs will only work with MR2 or 2.5. I'm still running ThunderRom with an MR1 radio and so far my thunderbolt's actually running faster than it was on the newer ROMs.

The 2.75 and the release from chingy have been my favorites. Much better 4G/3G handoff than the previous radios. I do believe that every Bolt is different and will react differently to certain radios.
I've had the best luck with mr2 under cm7 using dream kernel... that combo gives me the best battery life in a aosp rom.. mr2.5 was fine but seemed to drain my battery much quicker. Haven't tried mr2.75 though.

Synergy vs viperROM

For those of you who have flashed both, which one do you like better and why?
Synergy would random reboot when I app restored all my apps. It's viper for win

uhhh, ViperROM is senseless. It says it in the thread title.
edit: oops, I was thinking of VirusROM. sorry
Actually they both have Sense and Senseless roms. So, which are you referring to?
Most likely you are asking about Sense based roms.
I have ran both and currently am sticking with Nightly builds of Synergy. I just love the speed. And, my internet speeds on 3g, 4g, and wifi are all extremely faster with Synergy.

I'm definitely referring to the Sense roms. Didn't even know Viper and Synergy had Senseless versions.
They both sense, for battery life stability Viper all the way for more speed and nice Transitions Sinergy

These are the only two that I have flashed thus far and I have been able to try these out for about three days each now and haven't noticed anything very different between the two... The phone is still really fast regardless of which I have installed and the battery life is disappointing (~ 9-10 hours) compared to stock (~13-16 hours). I think I will flash something else and maybe come back to these two at some point to see if anything has improved.

Ummm, try Showdown 1.0.
I like viper over synergy, more stability and I like his oc daemon script. Showdown is nice and very esthetically pleasing and its snappy but it lacks full stability Imo as well. Hope that helps.
So far every rom has given me around 10 hours of battery with moderate use if I don't play stuff like order and chaos all day.

No I got better battery life before I rooted and romed too. Strange right? I don't mind the lesser battery life though since I get better performance and features. 10 hours is still a full day and that's with Pandora going all day, texts and emails

I loved Viper, will go back to it once I'm finished playing with CM9.
I got better than 15 hours on my newest 3D. But I don't charge half charged batteries or let my phone go completely dead before charging either. I'm really old school when it comes to rechargeable batteries.

[Q] Gingeritis 3D 1.0 Beta 7 Data prob

For some reason it can't hold a 3g connection for 5 minutes before it goes to 1x. I'm on thee official mr2 radio. Should I be using mr2.5 ? If so links, just make sure they're not dead.
More info needed. Did this just start? Did it start after flashing the ROM?
I am running the same ROM but using the .704 radio Chingy leaked and no issues at all. You can get it from his site.

Uh, its been a problem for beta 6 and 7 for me. I don't have this problem on 1.2. Also the battery really drains. I'm gonna try that radio you were talking about
Im on beta 6, dont have that problem either, try the new chingy radio like the above poster said, works great for me.

I'm using the MR2.5 radio and getting crazy long battery life. I thought the Chingy leaked radio was junk on many fronts. Namely, it holding a signal sucked. Somewhat the same with the MR2 leak. Please don't bark orders to post links and demand they be assured to work. It's rude. Go look for them yourself. It's not like its actually hard to do.

Best ROM for battery life?

Well Ive been running CleanROM DE for a while now and I like it. Problem is the battery life is terrible for me. I've tried everything and I just cant improve it. I get about a 10 percent drop in an hour with light to medium usage. If the screen is on I can literally watch he bar drop.
what other ROMs can I try that seem to have good battery life?
Either of Chingys roms.

+1 Chingy's roms.
I know the hardware varies slightly on each individual phone, but I'm getting the best on either Ineffibilis ROM, and also the last couple of Joelz BAMF roms.
how does chingy roms compare to clean rom dev in terms of battery life?

Thanks had a feeling that was.
I get fairly good life on newts one xxx rls. I got about 10 hrs today while streaming over 4g, texting, 2 calls and some Facebook. I'm sure I can get better battery life after I get over the excitement of sense 4
I have CleanROM DE 1.4 and it's the best battery life I've had, which leads me to believe you should be looking more for a different kernel. I've tried upwards to 10 different ROMs. I'm using the 3.13xx kernel he posted in Post #2 of that ROM thread.
Also, just a note, upgrading the firmware helped tremendously. Not just using the patch, but taking the dive and flashing the RUU. My phone got better with both battery life and heat.

Battery Monitor Pro is great. Even logs all that data and has nice graph. It also allows you to swap batteries and also the battery data with it so each spare battery you have is correctly calibrated.

Anyone test out any of the new ROMs on the new base...any help to battery life?

Mean Rom ICS vs. Viper Redline ICS

I'm trying to figure it out which ICS rom to flash based on battery life and I've narrowed it down to Mean Rom ICS and Viper Redline ICS, and I was wondering if anyone would mind posting pics of the battery times.
MEAN ICS v2.0
I'm currently running MR ICS 2.0 and I'm getting pretty decent batter life. I'll have a screen shot in the morning as I haven't actually measured so I'll do an overnight test and have the screenshot up in the AM. I haven't tried the ViperROm though.
I use MR also. Pretty decient useage and i get a solid 15 hours out of it. I tried Vipers ICS in the beginning and was getting about the same. Im not sure what he has changed since the first release. I would post a pic but i just switched back to a gingerbread Rom. ICS to me has some bugs and GB i was getting better battery life and faster performance.
Hope this helps

I went from Viper to MeanRom and never looked back. Even using Viper's CPU Control I still don't get the battery life that I do from Mean. Not to mention Mikey is focused on one sole device and Viperboy's attention is divided by at least two (3D and 4GLTE) maybe more I don't go to all the forums. Also, I use gps a lot my phone (Hardware Ver 2) runs a lot cooler with Mean then Viper when using the gps for hours upon hours. I've even used it for a 14 hour singe day drive once the screen was never off (I did use a car charger of course lol)
MeanROM.
Thanks!
Thanks Everyone! I decided to flash Mean Rom!

Or it could be what he has on his Screen. For Example he could have an alternative Launcher with one homescreen and a clock widget. And also i heard that if you use a regular black wallpaper it could save you quite amount of power. So maybe could throw in a Black Wallpaper in there.
