I have searched and have not found enough information to make me confident so my question is, how do I update my radios and such that just came out a few days ago? I am running synergys newest rom if that makes a difference and I want to see if these new radios will improve anything.
What's wrong with your device? If nothing don't mess with radios.
If it ain't broke don't fix it

pretty sure everything you need is in the radio thread.
also in the stock rooted thread there is a link to radio/pri update in one.
not sure why spastic doesn't like to flash radios... don't worry it's not a big deal although if you can't read around enough to find this info maybe you shouldn't be doing it

Earlier this month, I was facing a lot of trouble with lockup and boot loops.
I have ran custom kernels, software enhancement, and ROMs. I tried apps like WakeLock and SleepLocker (they disable deep sleep, which potentially DRAINS your battery). I even tried to revert to stock for a bit, but even then the disease of the SOD (sleep of death) was present. I was about to go through all the trouble to exchange it with the Sprint Store.
The XDA community has done a lot for me, so here's my way to give in return.
My solution was revert to stock (..651.2) and update to (..651.5) with the BASEBAND UPDATE..
There are many ways to upgrade your radio (baseband), if you have S-Off simple flash the radio through hBoot, but if you're like most of us, and you have hBoot 1.5 like me, the process is a bit harder.
STEPS:
1. BACKUP with Nandroid
2. Go back to stock using PG86IMG.zip (Everyone has luck with different downloads)
3. Run all system updates (Systems > System Updates > HTC software update)
4.Re-unlock using HTC-Dev
4. Flash Custom Recovery (TWRP)
5.Restore nandroid
6. Enjoy your bug-free phone!
6.
Yep radio sometimes cause weird problems
Man ,I have been going through both of these problems since I got this phone. I really hate having the phone lock up when it is asleep in my pocket. I didn't do the downgrade I just flashed the latest radios and firmware again and i think that fixed it .but if not ill follow your guide to a T.

So I have s off. Where would I find the zips for the radio updates?

Well its not hard to find at all with a tiny bit of searching, but I'll bite and go ahead and tell you where to look since that's what a community does.
Go look in the Development Section under the "Roll Up Sticky" thread and you'll find what you seek.

Sorry I guess I failed to explain my reasoning. I promise im not above searching for things and I did. I also found a few zips that could have been the ones the OP used.
I was just asking for a link to confirm which firmware/radio zips he used because I still had problems after using the one I found.
But thanks for explaining

My guess is something went wrong when people did the latest update. Which would cause you issues could be hardware issues...... I never had issues on stock rom unrooted or anything stock wise...
You shouldn't need to go to a backup to fix things... If you updated righ it should work
I'm going to root my friends GSII and have a few questions. I'm experienced with rooting since I've been flashing roms/kernels since my old Evo 4G and my current Evo 3D, but I am unfamiliar with Samsung phones. I've read the stickies but still was unsure about a few things.
What exactly is odin and what does it do? You can flash a rom/kernel normally through recovery right?
And last one, what is a modem? Is that like a firmware package that we have for HTC phones?
If you're going to do this you have to read around. Google will help you out big time
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
I have read around...I read everything for the rooting process as well. After everything I read, I have only those two simple questions. Is it really that much of a pain in the ass to just answer them? Whatever happened to a helpful XDA community?
I'm only saying this so you know how to do some troubleshooting if something goes wrong. If you Google "samsung modem vs HTC radio"or something it Will yield results. Also searching for Odin on wikipedia I know will yield results. This is xda, a developer site. You're supposed to search before posting whether it be Google or here because chances are people have asked the question before

For rooting or obtaining root access, I believe there are 4 options, all listed on the FAQ. It's your choice. For simplicity, I chose the first option.
Modem? Like radio, quality of call (?), quality of data (?)
Don't have enough technical knowledge to clearly explain to you, m8
To rest your case, rooting is easy.
Relax.

Odin is a proprietary software made by Samsung that runs on the Windows platform and is used to transfer firmware onto a samsung phone. You can flash firmware through ClockworkMod Recovery, which is built into the kernel portion of the firmware, but you cannot flash firmware from a stock kernel, you must first install a custom kernel which has CWM Recovery built in.

I'm not familiar with htc phones. Modem is like a radio on other phones. It is a separate piece of firmware that can be flashed separately, or along with other parts of the firmware, which handles the cell network interface, wifi and some other things.

Radios in HTC phones can't be included within roms, only RIL's can (RIL is software that matches up with the radio I believe).

i havent installed any modems yet. but i did change the apns that are in the aokp faq. it put me back to dload speeds of 6-8Mbps vs the 500kb - 1Mb i have been getting through att since october and the stock apns provided in the aokp rom. the modem itself i believe is included in the aokp rom.
i doubt any of that makes sense to you... but i tried.
and yes... some of the people around here would rather take more time to explain to you why they arent going to give you the info u need rather than just telling ya. i think it makes them feel superior. but hey... who am i to complain... they bust their asses to make the roms for us.

Aokp doesn't include a modem
I couldn't easily help him from my phone, he could have easily found this information though. It's not about the superior.

So I'm trying to do the ics update and when I tell it to check for updates, it says "your phone is up to date, there are no updates availabe"
Why won't it give me the update? I tried restarting the phone. Also tried turning off WiFi and doing it on 4g.

Now or never
Update for "HTC Watch" but no ICS...it worked before dammit! I just didn't know I was rooted so it didn't work. Now I'm back to STOCK unrooted/locked and it won't get the OTA. Going to try manually...
just to add, I got the phone 9 days and its bone stock never rooted.

Keep checking for software updates, it'll tell you there is no update when the server load is high, after all, everyone is updating. If you're s-on just make sure you're on complete stock, if not flash the stock ruu via hboot, if you used the leaked ICS, well your chances are nada unless you s-off.
what is s-on and s-off?
Had to manually update from hboot. Got a little scared as the phone turned off when I was updating. Pressed the power button and it came back to hboot then it updated from there.
Security ON or Security OFF, if you're off, you can downgrade and flash the official ICS or upgrade to any of the leaked or official files, while on the other hand if you're on, well you have to do everything officially and there's no downgrading allowed.

Hey Dark, remember you said yesterday about flashing the stock recovery and relocking my BL via Hasoon? Will it all went as planned last night, dies that mean I'm back to stock, or will I still have to flash the GB RUU?

Everything is stock, so you should be clear. Just make sure your software version corresponds with one of tmo's stock software id's for GB.
You don't have to relock the BL by the way, you just have to be on stock recovery/software.

[Rant]It gets deleted because there are like 50 threads opened up every time a noob has an issue. This site is not www.noobsupportRus.com. It's a site for development. If u screw up your phone because you didn't read or know what you're doing, its not worthy of opening a new thread begging for help.
Now, if someone were to get the Amaze, they wouldn't know where to start because of all the clutter yapping about the same **** over and over.
If you're a noob unwilling to read, then leave ur phone stock or pay someone. Moderators have been asking for this over and over and over... It gets old.
Has anyone wondered where most of the regular senior members went lately? I've never seen any forum like the Amaze forum... Where noobs actually run people away from xda with stupidity. [/Rant]

this is odd to me. why wouldnt you flash the leak? do you think t-mobile magically cooks up ota's to send out to its subscribers? ota's come from the manufacturer (with the exception of GED's) and are sent to carriers for testing. the carrier then decides whether it will accept the ota or reject it. this is why you saw a revision in the build number from .1 to .3. .3 was accepted and pushed out to amaze owners, over-the-air.
the leak is just an earlier release of the final product. im not sure whats so hard to understand about that? you guys that were waiting, couldve been running the ota ics like 2 weeks ago...

Just give up... I'm starting to think we are the only ones whobread each other's posts. People are gonna be their own "experts."
Good luck waiting for ICS. When mt4g got ota gingerbread, my stock unrooted glacier never got the update. I had to flash it in bootloader (which nobody here will do since its not ota... Amh)

OK I have been all over these forums and the T-Mobile forums and I am not 100% crystal clear. I know that you can use the T-Mobile ROMs but how come you need special radios if you use the stock T-Mobile ROM. I had tried to install the actual Tmobile modem but it slowed down my phone so much that it wouldn't work properly. So I guess my question is how come if both unit are the same why cant they use the exact modems and have the exact effects. From what I understand the modems we use have to be kinda tweaked. I am sorry if this seems to be an ignorant question but this is my first device since the HTC Raphael that I have used a phone that was not branded for my carrier..........

So i've been running ARHD for awhile and love the software, however from what I understand Mods will never have the newest radio in there? (Or am I mistaken entirely)
If that's the case I was curious what IS the current Radio version for the HTC One on T-Mobile, since if there has been an update recently I obviously haven't gotten it so would like to put it on if that's the case
A few threads I looked at have download links for radio but haven't actually said what version it is.
Are you S off? I thought you needed that to flash radios.

I'm not sure what the latest radio is but I've heard that the latest update was just a fix for the dual mikes, something that is already in most third party roms.

The OTA can flash updated radios, but you only get those running tmobile stock w/o a root.
you dont need s-off to flash radios
