Flashable Stock Touchwiz Rom - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Call me stupid for asking, it kinda shows my lack of knowledge in these kinda thingz...
Is there such a thing as a Stock Flashable Rom that can be flashed using Cloxkwork???
Im sure I used to be able to flash between stock and other roms using Clockwork on my old Dell Streak, just wondering if I can do the same with my SGSII???

Yeah should be able too I imagine there's stock roms posted in the Galaxy S2 forum somewhere.
Yeah just visit samsfirmware site and download the version your phone came with or something newer and official for your country. Flash it and your ready.

ICS question

I have a unlocked galaxy note i717 gingerbread 207. Orginally it was locked to telus but now im using it on the rogers network. So how would I get ICS? Do I have to wait for the telus release or rogers? I also heard it better to use a custom ics rom. So when I unroot my phone what is the best ics rom out there at the moment?
Why are you unrooting? As to which rom is best is in the eye of the beholder

I thought you need to unroot to use custom roms?

U got it backwards. I think u just got ur words mixed up. Rooting gives you super user contral and flashing cwm allows u to flash custom roms. Read the general stickies for more information.

This helped me a TON.
I've already rooted my phone. But now I'm stuck in the next step : Install "Clockworkmod recovery" because it doesn't works with Gingerbread.207 version. I didn't find an answer to this problem and it seems that installing "Clockworkmod recovery" is an important step before installing a new ROM. I just want to inform you about it.
It's never easy for canadian version of mobile phones to use the same rooting and flashing tools than worldwide phones. We really have less choice for custom ROM and the few really good ROM are made for US users. Well, if I find something, I'll let you know.

> need help before i risk flasing my first rom <

This is my first post and i was wondering if people could answer some questions i have.
First off heres my phones specs
Samsung galaxy s2
Model number
GT-I9100
Android version
4.0.3
Baseband version
I9100XXLPQ
Kernel version
3.0.15-I9100XXLPQ-CL223505
[email protected] #3
Build number

I've rooted my phone using rachmat3 method and thats how far i've got because only just got phone as a gift and im scared to flash a new rom incase i brick my phone.
Is it safe to use the cwm.zip to flash a rom that i used from rachmat3 root method or do i need a updated version of cwm?
Can someone recommend a fully working paranoid android rom that i can use for daily use?
Which kernel would be best to use with paranoid android rom?
Should i flash a kernel before i flash a rom?
If i install paranoid android rom would i then have a permanant cwm on my device or would i still need to use my temporery cwm.zip?
What is the chances of me bricking my phone?

Flash what ever rom u want till its for GT-I9100
No need to worry
Just read the specific rom instructions carefully
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Yes mate now u can flash any Rom ....Just read the instruction before flashing
I would advise you to flash a safe kernel first before doing any wipe and flashing any roms. Siyah is a safe bet.

1. Download ROM Manager and you'll be able to flash any ROMs you wish using that.
2. All the PA versions are working fine, so just browse through and choose for yourself.
3. Asking questions like that is against forum rules because they often lead to arguments. The best advice is just to download and flash different kernels and stick with which ever one you're happy with.
4. It really doesn't matter in which order you flash them. The result is still the same. I personally always flash the ROM first, but it doesn't make a difference.
5. If you use ROM Manager, as mentioned previously, even if you have to do a full wipe when flashing a different ROM, it doesn't matter because you can simply download it again anyway. Or just save it to your SD card.
6. The changes if bricking your phone are higher if you're worried about it. Just be sure to read all instructions given about installation and follow them perfectly and you'll be fine.
If after reading about flashing ROMs you are still worried, then you're better off waiting for a bit until you've done more research into what exactly is needed.

Thanks for your replys.
just follow the steps mentioned and follow some video (like on youtube) and it'll be easy!

I don't recommend using ROM Manager since it can brick the phone.
Why don't flash custom kernel and use real CWMR?

Most ROM zips include kernels, so if somebody wants to stay with the same kernel, then it's necessary to flash custom kernel again.

I agree, I wouldn't recommend rom manager for the s2

I just mentioned ROM Manager from personal preference to be honest.
I've always used it on my S2 and never had a problem with it.

Ok so i've downloaded paranoid android and gapps ive nandroid backed up i've efs backed up all thats left to do is flash pa lol is it defently safe using rachmet3 temp cwm.zip or should i download a new temp cwm or use permanent cwm through flashing siyah kernal. Just coz i have no pc to revive a bricked phone and i wont beable to check online for solutions as my phone will be bricked.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
You will need a pc if for example you flash a kernel and somethings not right. You cant get cwm, only download mode.
That happened to me when I flashed a siyah kernel.Phone was stuck and I couldnt boot into cwm.Only way to fix was boot to download mode and use odin/pc.

Within the next 30 mins, you should be running PA.
First, flash Siyah kernel with your temporary CWM recovery. Very safe
when you are done, let me know

[Q] Does CF-Auto-Root allow flashing stock firmwares?

Im thinkin about rooting my i9300 and I read chainfire stopped supporting custom recoveries. I just wanted to know if, using CF-Auto-Root which keeps stock recovery, i could still flash STOCK firmwares?? (different than mine since i cant officially have JB yet and i wanna give it a try). Sorry if this is a noob question, im new around here.
Yes you can.

[q] new i9100 need help

Hi. im new in this selection. yesterday i bought i9100. now i got android 4.1.2 branded by orange and i need to change it to cm10 and and CWM6. i cant go to recovery by combinations buttons (im not noob, previous phone galaxy mini2 with many mods). download mode working so i put unbranded stock 4.1.2 and i need to know how (where download) CWM without bugs and where i can download lastest stable cm10 without any bugs. i dont have warranty so there no way to any error. some tutorials are welcome. thx for reply.
You can flash any kernel to get CWM.
I've heard PhilZ kernel working best with 4.1.2 at the moment, but also there are DorimanX, Siyah and many more..
Flash one of them with Odin (download mode) and then you will probably have access to CWM.
you should be able to access the stock CWM, but if you can't you might want to look into what causes that problem before rooting.
i do it 3h after i write op btw. thx. in galaxy mini 2 bootloader etc is easiest to using good luck and thx for respond bro.

You know how flashing works, you only need to know how your new device works.
And don't read from another site, stick to xda.
