Contacts force closing - Motorola Droid X2

I saw a list of things that will cause contact force closures.. Anyone have that? I need to fix it lol
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App

It's usually yahoo contacts and yahoo authenticator being frozen/removed. I think there is a few others but those are the usual suspects.
Sent from OH MY GOD IS THAT A SQUIRREL!

The one that I didn't realize would do it was the corporate sync aunthenticator and I think one of the other authentication ones. Probly the yahoo like was stated above.
But sure enough corporate sync authenticator locks my contact when frozen
Sry I don't have the full list. And I hate trying to search these threads from my phone lol

Im pretty sure that's all you need to do. And if its the corporate sync one u need I belie the blur_activesync.apk is what u need.
Just make sure u have the permissions set correct also.
Mine are set all three under read and the first box in top under write.
Good luck
Edit:::just saw it was yahoo ones u need. Not sure what permission need to be set on them to might be the same.if u have need me to I will check for u.
But im pretty sure the authentication are in the apks I have in system
For example when I view the blur_yahoo.apk it has a folder called res. When I open that file I see authenticator.xml if this info helps anny. I am viewing with root explorer also.

Easiest way I can explain permissions is to make it an upside down L. Read for all, write only for owner, execute for none.

Blue Themed Gmail Apk!

Here are are some blue themed Gmail apk's that I made for the xoom and definitely work on the Samsung Google IO tab 10.1. You must delete your gmail apk first (I recommend copy to another location) then side load any of these with something like drop box or push via ADB. Let me know if you have any problems.
If you like hit the thanks button please!
Enjoy!

Well, phooey!
Changed the perms to all combinations that I thought would work. Still no luck.
What should they be? Just like the original gmail app, yes?
Also, flashed Tasks 650 & Phantom's "In Paris" KME. Still, no luv.
Any other suggestions?
Much appreciated!
Edit: Error = "Application not installed" during install.
Edit II: rebooted. Now, back to FC of "Gmail process.com.google.android.gm"... hmmm..
Edit III: Wipe app data fixed it. Duh.
Now, if I could get the background of the individual mails to be blue type on dark BG....anybody know of any gmail apps that do that? I'd be glad to kick some $ your way if you are the dev!

Email apk *to replace the system APK *Stock gingerbread

I got the email apk from gingerbread up and running on the nook tablet *will update with screenshot. I figured I would try and it worked so no more *****ing about the stock email app being crap. You can now fix it.
How to install:
Download here
Push to SDcard
Move to system/app using root explorer *or free alternative.
change permissions to:
Code:
Read, Write
Read
Read
^ Just like that.
then reboot
and
Enjoy
Don't forget: Backup your stock email apk, just in case.
Does this replace the B&N app when using their launcher too? I'm getting very upset with it constantly re-downloading all of my email...
You need to reboot for it to take effect btw
Sent by breaking the sound barrier
I'm having an issue getting this to work. Do you have to push the apk to the sdcard, or can you copy/paste it?
Issues here as well. The app isn't showing up in the list. Reverting for now
I already said you need to reboot for it to show.
Rebooted twice. It would show up as Email or Mail, right? Followed all the instructions, permissions, etc.

I did so. I made sure that I followed your instructions. I'm having similar issues with changing out the keyboard, though that may be more related to the apk I downloaded.
Did you guys put it into system/app?
Yep. I used adb because i was already hooked up and working on stuff. Didn't look at logcat because i was working on a compile config.

Of course. After making the /system partition R/W with Root Explorer. Would have preferred to use my own r/w script for /system, but when I got rid of my Droid I think I deleted all of my Android editing/modifying files.

It worked just fine on my tablet and another persons tablet. Check completely through your app drawer for it it should be called "Email"
Got it up and going fairly effortlessly...
the mistake I was making?
I am using Go Launcher Ex...after reboot I looked at E and M for Email or Mail...well, it wasn't there (even though I was sorting alphabetically)
It turns out, it WAS there in my app drawer...it just went to the very last page of my app drawer and was listed after Widget Locker...obviously NOT in alphabetical order, haha
Maybe you guys were also having this problem?
Yep that was my issue as well. PEBKAC. Sorry for the mixup. Thanks for the app!

I found it exactly as described above.
My main issue was that I was initially trying to launch it using the stock nook home apps screen.

Yeah, exactly the same thing happened with me. Go Launcher doesn't always seem to auto-sort correctly.
Not sure if that's an error or feature of Go Launcher but it doesn't seem to happen all the time. Recently downloaded apps are placed at the end of the app draw. I like it cause I down load so many apps, I forget what I've downloaded.
Lately however, I've noticed that new apps appear in order with a little orange label in the upper right corner of the icon - I think it says new.
Awesome! Thanks, Indirect. This worked perfectly for me.
On a side note, this also fixed an issue with contacts. I was stuck with the abysmal stock contact list manager, because nothing else I installed would allow creation or editing of contacts. With the stock email app is in place, I can now use GO Contacts to create and edit contacts.
BTW: email addys open a new email, street addresses open in Google Maps, and phone numbers open chat in textPlus if you have these installed.
the download link is no longer work. Can you send me a new URL?
Thanks
Please ignore my last post. I found it at your other thread.
Thanks

I think you have to set the manufacturer to "LGE", not "LG". Here's a quick tutorial:
First, install the Box app from the Market and create a free account. (You'll get 5 GB of free space already.)
Next, find the build.prop file on your phone's internal memory. (On some ROMs, it may be in the root directory; for me, it was in the "system" folder). Copy the file to your SD card and also make an extra copy of it for backup. Long-press one of those copies and select "Open As," choose "Text," and open it. Look for the line that says
ro.product.manufacturer=Motorola
and change it to
ro.product.manufacturer=LGE
Also find the line that says
ro.product.model=MB525
and change it to
ro.product.model=VS910 4G
Save the edited file, then use a root-enabled file explorer (like ES File Explorer) to copy your edited "build.prop" file from your SD card and paste it back where you got it in the system folder of the phone's internal memory, overwriting the original file. Then reboot the phone, log into your Box app again, and you should see a message saying you've been upgraded to a 50GB account.
Then copy the backed-up (non-edited) version of your build.prop file and paste it back in the system folder (the same way you did with the edited version), and reboot the phone again. Your phone is now back to normal (and all your apps, etc. will correctly recognize it as a Motorola DEFY), but you'll still have your 50GB of free space!
Thanks. It's work.

OK, someone please enlighten me: is this service for file sharing or file stealing? How do they guard against copyrighted material being "exchanged"?
OK, I called Box and spoke with customer service and they claim they are not just another version of MegaUpload but have, apparently, 100% zero checks in place to prevent IP theft. They said, however, they are going to "shoot my question upstairs" and get back to me.
tHANK YOU!

thanks, i signed for that account and got 50Gb, but soon deleted it because i liked more minus, i liked it more i dont have as many limits as in box.com

Well, since it was a promotion from Box (install their app within a certain period and get automatically 50GBs for life) I made an account too. The good news is that Titanium Backup Pro got updated a few days ago with support for Box syncing (so those 50GBs make sense now, despite the user being limited to max. 100MB files).
Not really a problem

Apps to be removed after root...

I followed the list here from ATT Galaxy S2 and removed tons of unnecessary apps. Some of them not in this list don't touch them. Just remove whatever you see the same in the list.
Thanks Da_G for Root method here
Apps can be removed:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&hl=en_US&key=0AnO2-4y6yE1gdDJRekl4QmkyNmIzUmRvX2h3UDVkQXc&output=html
One NOTE:
In TB, Hit uninstall choose yes then STOP right there and look at the ******.apk then compare to the list. This will show you exact name of the apps.
Can you re-do the link for Da_G's root method? I think it's just pointing to the same spreadsheet of apps.

Yeah it really depends on the person and their needs. I didn't like social hub but tpc uses it. Some apps you think are useless might actually be useful for others.

I am asking what to change.
I thought there was talk about changing the dots per inch or LCD density, but I'm not quite sure. Will edit this post if I find it again.
But I need to change it so I can have more of a selection in the market and to trick some apps I don't care about the LCD density but thanks anyway. WhTever you can do to help me is greatly appreciated

please read up on 'LCD density'. it "is" how the ( google ) market categorizes you as a phone or tablet. so... ya... you do need to toggle it.
.
and there are additional setting too.
Is this what you are looking for?

Yeah, you need to actually try to look things up and understand, you know? Instead of just getting directions from people and changing things. That way you know what's going on and have a better chance of fixing it when you gets stuck.
Use the files in fullboogies post and change the first several lines to be like the others they link to. To change it on your tablet use es file explorer and go all the way up then go to /system and click build.prop and use es text editor when it asks, and you can change what you want. I made mine look like the nexus 7, but there were bugs. Oh, and make sure system is r/w and root access in the settings.

OP - I used the method in the post I made above and have successfully swapped build.prop files many times to get access to new stuff on the market. It is a really easy process once you read, read, and re-read the thread I posted. Just make sure you have backups of the stock file, and make sure you keep track of which build.prop file is which.
Personally, I give them a unique name when I'm not using them, then change the name to "build.prop" when I want to swap for another one. Again, just make sure you keep track of which is which. And keep a backup copy of the stock one on your home computer, just in case.
