[Q] Setting MMS sending priority ? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to send my MMS ALWAYS with the HIGHEST priority to shorten the delays between Actual sending and Actual reception
for some reasons, my recipients receive my MMS with a variable delay, sometimes hours !!! This can't be acceptable !!
With other phones, I had the setting to chose among 3 priorities, and when I choosed "highest", the MMS delivery was fast as expected
with the SG2, no settings of this kind appear to be available....SG2 seems to ignore it...
Network providers system do consider this parameter, so there should be a setting somewhere in the SG2 .... can't seem to find it, can't find any info about anyone caring about this VERY interesting priority option....
Anyone help ?
I believe for sure is must be part of MMS.APK....
Is there a MOD available, standalone or in a custom ROM ? or An App that can offer a way to set this priority before sending ?
Help much appreciated !!!

NO !!!
Can it be that I am the only one in the world who cares about speed delivery of my MMS SMS or Emails ?
Or is it that 2012 has already begun and there's nobody to listen ....
even if you dont have answers to my question, feel free to express that you feel the same, I'll feel less alone ....
thanks

try to check your APN setting for mms. that may be the problem. i have no such a issue at all. check your network stats and recheck your APN if its correct.

Well, Thank you for your answer,
But I dont find any setting under APN setting menu for MMS, none with any setting regarding MMS priority.... Maybe though it's not an issue,
maybe the SG2 is already sending MMS with highest priority ....???
But as I've seen the setting in my previous nokia phones, I believe it's possible to choose...
If the setting exists as a basic GSM function, then why the I9100 doesn't offer the possibility to tweak it....hummm ???
I believe the setting is hidden from the UI on the current roms... Hope that someone on the dev side will soon find a solution....
This is my 2 cents request.... LOL
I found an app or 2 on the market that seem to implement this feature, but cant remember the names by now, didnt test them....
But I'm looking for what we deserve : a solution embedded natively in the UI

Search for SMSDR Fix.
unfortunetly SMSDR Fix isn't workin as well ...
Anyone who has a solution for this?
it's really bugging me out...
I want to hear it when I have an SMS message, even if the phone is far away from me.
But why does the delivery report tone need to be the same? this I do not need to hear, just a pop or even silent would be more than enough

i think, you people dont know your phone well
go to settings/menu/all settings/sounds and notifications/notifications/events: (there is a dropdown from phone:incoming call.. here)....message:send succeeded....change sound to whatever you want....bet you did not see this...
actually there was some reg tweak or cab to enable more hidden notifications and sounds to be displayed here...search for that also
some people just don't respond back...it makes me wonder....did they sell off their leodroid..??

[Q] MMS hack to disable SMS auto conversion to MMS for longer SMS

Hi every one
I'm on galaxy s3 and hate the fact that it auto converts the SMS to mms when character exceeds 480.
And there is no option to disable this perk..
I don't want to use 3rd party apps like gosms and handcent for the simple fact that they don't support motion gestures like dialing the contact when phone is held to face.
I know there are various ROMs with this option...I am looking for a stand alone zip file that could be installed through recovery.
For the record I'm on XXALF2 ODEXED ...please help me find this app I'm sure there are a lot more people looking for this simple but necessary option..
Guess there is no much hack...although there are some cooked ROMs with this functionality..
Anyhow, mods u may close this thread

Hi Iris,
Sorry to hear about this. I know it probably doesn't help much now, but if you just want to send Long SMS messages (over 3 SMS) you can use BigSMS. It doesn't support any of the gestures and stuff, but that isn't really the point. Most people type their message in the stock app then copy it to BigSMS and send. Not a perfect fix, just a solution.
Thanks man
u wrote the app man..really doin the trick for occusional long sms

[Q] call forward from and to specific number

Dear All
I'm sure everybody had this already that he got calls from unwanted numbers, and they don't stop.
I usually use blacklist pro (bought version) with android 4.1.1 it doesn't work currently, probably it has something to do with pdroid, i'm using a cyanogen rom.
Anyway..
So far i'm more intrested in call forwarding instead of blocking.
I am locking for an app which can forward this annoying caller to another number, or all numbers which are not in my contact list.
so far i couldn't find an app doing exactly this what I wanted to.
(It does not matter if the forward counts on my own phone bill, because i've got flat anyway...)
so does someone know an app for this?
would this anyway technicaly be possible?

well all those so called 'Call blocking or forwarding' apps available on stores are not compatible enough to wrk efficiently with JB based roms, due to lack of upgradation of those apps from there developer's
so ICS based roms r better for ur issue, since they can support those apps

I try staying nice and calm but it's hard not getting mad..
So listen, I don't post stupid questions in a form because i'm lazy or i can't use google. In reality i've been searching such an app which exactly supports my needs for few hours, i've also tested few apps, but sadly my search was unsuccessfull.
Considering that the world is full of noobs posting sometimes unhappy, not well explained or just unintelligent posts I can partially understand your replies.. PARTIALLY!
But this is a Question and Answers forum and you do NOT have to write me "use google there are lot of apps and search the one for your needs"
If you CAN'T give a competent answer do not reply!
If you do not understand what exactly has been requested, read the topic until you do and then reply only if your answer is competent!
Now please do no more post reply on this thread you're not hitting the topic anymore and you can't help further!!
If somebody knows an App which exactly fullfills my needs, feel free to post it..
@ OP
Have you found such an app? I am also in search.

Same here @ OP
Would really appreciate a response.
The OP's outrage at being told to use Google is just as hilarious as it was almost two years ago.
I just want to be able to forward calls from specific contacts (not send to voicemail). I currently have all undesired callers automatically hung up on.
Hi frnd,
I found out a method which works perfectly for me....Hope this will be useful for u as well.
first add the particular number from which u don't want to receive calls to a call blocking list app.( i used cm security app)
second, go to your call settings, and enable 'call forward when busy' to your any other number or to which number u want the calls to forward
That's It...now if the blocked number called u, it will get hang up and automatically redirected to another number..

[Q] Android and Group MMS

Let me preface this post by saying that I've been dealing with and looking for a solution for this for about a year. Basically, ever since I moved from iOS to Android, and I've not found a suitable solution to it yet. I've searched this forum diligently, googled for it and really just found a bunch of nonsense posts and unanswered questions or suggestion to install handcent or sms go pro. I'll say up front that I don't really want to do that. I like to style and smoothness of the stock messaging app.
Now, to the issue. What I constantly have issues with, across multiple roms and Android versions, is the ability to handle group mms, specifically from group mms where iOS initiates the group mms (if that has anything to do with it or not, that's the observation) or an iOS person is in the reply. Basically what happens is either the group mms ends up having download issues, where the initial mms or replied mms from a user in the group doesn't download and gets stuck downloading and never completes. I've had these issues with gingerbread, ics and now jb as well as across cyanogenmod, aokp, aosp and now aocp roms. I've tried flashing several modems as well as updating my apn settings several times, according to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576199 The thing is, once I update my apn settings to that, I can send and receive mms message, picture and video just fine. It's only ever group mms that causes the issues.
None of them seem to work well with group mms, and I'm beginning to think this is just an android thing. Now I don't want to get into an iOS/Android thing here, but basically what I'm wanting is group mms capability to just work on Android. I don't want to have to deal with the downloading messages, messages not coming through, or having to sit there with the mms open for 5 minutes while it downloads and finally gets around to displaying it.
Are there just known issues with android and group mms? Is group mms just a thing that apple and at&t have some trickery with? (me not knowing anything about group mms other than it just works in iphones) I just want some kind of answer like, "no, it doesn't work well on Android phones and others are having the same issue." Or perhaps, "no, you're just crazy and doing something wrong because group mms works flawlessly on my sgs2." Either way would give me a sold answer!
Lastly, I will add that I have used go pro sms and it did seem to handle group mms much better. However, I prefer the look at feel of the stock app much better, hence why I prefaced this thread with that comment about not wanting to switch. I do realize that if there is a limitation of the stock app, I might be stuck, but to me go pro just feels clunky and cluttered. Thanks in advance for all the suggestions.
I feel the same way about go sms pro, it's clunky. What I've done for now is use a theme that's as close to stock holo as possible. Someday I'll get around to creating a theme that mimics the stock app. The popup notifications are pretty ugly to me in go sms pro, so I use "sms popup" for notifications - it uses the holo theme and is nice and slick.
Don't forget to set mms to auto-retrieve in the stock app. It does hang for sometimes, and sometimes may not download too. Also, the notification doesn't actually popup for mms messages, but it's there in the popup queue the next time I get a normal sms.
Kind of a convoluted setup and i wish it was just built in, but for its all we've got to deal with.
Sent from my SGH-I777
Thanks for the info. I might consider trying it again and seeing if there is a theme out that that looks nice, but from what I remember, all of the convoluted settings was another thing that put me off. I didn't like having to dig through settings to find a fix for something. Honestly, I'd just like the stock app to work, and I wasn't for sure if people were having my same experience or not, or if I was possibly doing something wrong. I'd appreciate some more opinions if possible.
I thought I'd post back here with a few results. I recently reinstalled Go Pro and tried it again. I still find the UI to be somewhat clunky but have used a theme that minimal and it's bearable. I have, however, had NO with mms messages since switching to it. It really has been pretty flawless. Furthermore, I upgraded to the newest version of AOKP which reset my APN settings. On the stock app, I'd always have to go back in and reset them to the ATT PHONE and ATT MMS settings per the thread I referenced earlier. I wouldn't be able to do anything with mms without settings that. Well, I didn't do that this time using Go Pro and I've had no issues with any mms messages. This just kind of confirms to me this has something to do with the stock messaging app, which is disappointing. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Latest Android 4.2 supports this btw.

[Q] SMS not received - How many sms can be stocked in memory ?

Hello,
My question is : how many SMS one can stock on his MINI PRO sk17i before some problem of reception occur ?
Explanation :
My daughter has a mini pro sk17i and this summer (june and july) she did not receive several of my messages while she was away with her mother.
My provider (we have the same provider) told me all my messages were sent but some were not received.
The problem according to the tech and what he saw : a receiving phone with too many SMS stocked.
I did several searches to know how many SMS one can keep in memory with a mini-pro, but couldn't find any answer.
Does anyone know the answer ?
And beside this question/answer, I have another question : how to know how many SMS one stocks on his android phone in order to manage this and memory/reception problems ?
Yours,
Renzo

almost 200 to 500
it differs frm rom to rom
Hello,
And with the original (stock) rom, how many SMS ?
And how to know how many SMS one is stocking ?
Theres practically no limit
All the sms is stored in .db database file and the .db it stored in phone memory. Few thousands of sms is equals to only few kb, or mb of .db files.

Hello, it's confusing.
Who's right, who's wrong about the stockings of SMS in the MIni-Pro ?
As I said in my first message, my provider tech told me it is a problem certainly of internal memory limitation.
Then someone tells me it depends on the rom, but it goes from 200 to 500 sms.
And now you seem to imply there is not really a limit.
And you know what, Sony support told me they cannot tell.
I'm going a bit nuts.

Hmmm...there is not limit how many sms you can keep in stock roms cause sms is not keep in sim but in your internal memory...custom roms however you can put limit how many sms you wanna store...after the limit is reach, old sms will be auto deleted on order for the new sms to be store.....
basically if the phone doesn't receive some sms, just reboot the phone...the sms will appear afterward...is not then i suggest you flash stock roms again...usually this problem will doesn't appear in stock roms but custom roms do...in custom roms its not cause by the the roms itself but mainly because of the custom kernel......

not actually unlimited, but limited to only how many of internal memory u have. your provider is right it depend on phone (internal) memory because thats where the sms is stored in form if .db database. considering that, u can store thousands of sms and the database for the sms will only be few kb's. now i got around 3000 sms and the database is only 752kb. its /data/data/com.android.providers/telephony/databases/mmssms.db. based on that, rought calculation if 30000 sms will only be around 7.52mb.
Thanks,
Things are getting clearer for me.
I guess a problem of SMS not received might be due to internal memory limitations (with original stock rom) and not to the number of messages.
This answers also the question of ckecking and managing how many sms one stocks.
As soon as I see my daugther I will check how much "free internal memory" she has ... and tell her to eliminate a few apps she eventually installed and see what happens.
Till then,
Cheers and Thank you all.
