Sorry if wrong section
is that a case on it, because if yes it would probably be easier to determine if you took it off and took another picture. if no, i have no clue what phone it is. but it shouldn't be too hard to figure it out yourself by pressing menu then touch settings, then about phone and the info should be in there plain as day.

yeah kinda looks like an Evo
Twisted answer for a mysterious question!!
Is this some sort of a joke or a test?
A senior member with 183 posts and if anyone sees his statistics finds most of them about the X10 and yet he's asking "what phone is this?"
So,what, you got your hands on a "yet to be released phone" or what?
I hate that much guessing job.
Thumbs up if you think this guy is kidding.
He never said it was his phone? He may have just found that pic on the web and is trying to ID which phone it is.
BTW - Don't think its an EVO. The camera is too high - near the top of the phone.

Ok,dude,just relax.
Ok,here's what we got:
1-Camera in the top middle of the device's back panel.
2-Headset plug in at the top right.
3-Tiny flash hole to the left of the camera.
4-Volume rockers on the left (considering the cover).
5-There's something at the top left, probably power button.
So,I had some free time and I thought I'd go "phone hunting".
After checking pictures and 360 views of all HTC devices (believe me I did check them all) from here: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc-phones-45.php
Possible HTC phones:
1-Thunderbolt 4G (description fits 99%,only thing is the Thunderbolt dual flash,so,two tiny holes): http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_thunderbolt_4g-pictures-3703.php
2-Evo 4G (same as the Thunderbolt, all fits except for dual flash): http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_evo_4g-pictures-3427.php
Considering the height of the camera lens and being almost near the top of the back of the device,I'd say it's a Thunderbolt 4G (check the links).
U know, after this,I think google goggles should include a "phone identification service" or "ID my phone" or something like that.Where the hell did you get that picture from?
Anyways, hit the thanks button if you think I spent more than a full hour trying to get to that petty conclusion of 2 miserable devices.
PS:I checked only HTC phones, but all of them.
WOW
I appreciate that.
Thanks

You're more than welcome.
U still haven't told me where u got that picture from and I got all sorts of thought swirling around my mind right now.
So,let me let u in on some of them.
U bet a guy that'll know what phone this is by the end of this week, and you laid 10,000 dollars and the bet is.............100 to 1.
So,I get to bust my chumps trying to find out what phone this is, and u get to go home with a million dollars.
How is that for one brilliant thought?
Seriously, all not funny jokes aside, where did u get the picture from?
i think using goggles will provide much help. download it to your phone then take a picture of what you have to get more details for it.

Can't be the Desire.IMPOSSIBLE.
U know why?
Cuz the desire's volume rockers and power button are right on the device's body, while the casing around the phone we have has the power button sticking out and u can actually see it,u can also see the cutout for the volume rockers.
But what's even more important is that the device in the picture has the volume rockers on the right while the desire has them on the left.

o really... never thought about the fact the image can be flipped horizontally? smartass... because the flashlight of the camera is also on the wrong side, so flip the image in like paint or whatever and you'll see the one and only htc desire!
it is like the only htc you will find with that shape of metal around the camera

Ok,I'll disregard your ignorance and big mouth and offensive words and I'll tell you why it can't be the desire.
If you see backside pictures of both the desire and the phone we have, you'll notice this:
1-In the desire flash is to the right of the camera lens, and the phone we have has flash to the left of the camera lens.
2-The phone we have is significantly wider than the desire.
3-the desire has the volume rockers on-body,while the phone we have has volume rockers sticking out.
4-IT IS NOT THE DESIRE.Basic logic is used to reach that simple conclusion, but I wouldn't suppose you know what the word "logic" means since you use words like "smartass".
No offense dude, but that's a flipped desire.

Let's see if HTC has corrected the crooked screen issue with later hardware versions.
To see if you have a crooked screen: turn the display on and have enough ambient light so you can see the blackout on the top layer of glass. Compare the edge of the lit LCD underneath the blackout. Is the LCD "square" with the blackout or does the LCD look rotated slightly beneath it?
To check your hardware rev, go to Menu, Settings, About Phone, Hardware Information, and look at the hardware rev at the top.
Here's the thread that started this.

Again with this, another thread? Man we need to get this phone rooted soon, the way complaints don't happen as much

It's not a thread. It's a poll. And it's probably the only way for us to find out if and when HTC fixes the crooked screen issue so that people who have the problem bad enough know which hardware revs it affects.
Mike
I can see why you'd make a poll for this, but I don't think they've produced multiple hardware revisions yet?

I guess you got a good one then. My first one had a good screen but i replaced it because of the green pics. Hopefully the next one I get will be good if not Ill go to something else for a little while and come back when its good again.
Mine is definitely crooked, unless there is some illusion some of us see and some of use don't We just need cm7 to fix this! (being facetious)
Id be very interested if those that say their screen is perfect could take a close pic of the phone with the notification bar pulled down and post it up here.
Itd help those of us that see it on our own compare to what you guys say is straight on yours.

i just change my phone, made a bargain on a S2...
so my last phone(galaxy W) was runing the cyanogem mod 9
with i was happy with, but now on the s2 i am ok with the stock rom, but small things are missing...
lock button as shoter buton:
you can use the lock button to take pictures, what is very usefull when you need an elder( dont take badly folks) to take a picture of you. this on the camera app of cyanogen dosent looks like a great thing but you miss when you dont have...
Long press on volume change music:
this one i miss a lot, change music on lock mode not awake the device with a simple long press, bravissimo...
play music is not saving my plylists:
this is an issue more then a miss, every time i turn my phone off the playlists forget the music who is on the external card(in my case all musics)
there is a soft or hardproblem???
can i install those things with some kind of app, apk or zip file?
i am using stock 4.1.2 rooted and no CWM
thx
This topic reminds me that I really need to start travelling thru europe, I wanna come across all those cheap S2 wandering around over there....

Lol, but I believe he is asking for mods and he couldn't just word it right, like volume rocker mod, and for converting the lock button to camera photo shoot button, OP there are mods for volume rocker feature, for photo shoot I don't know but I suppose it's quite possible, you just need to search for mods suitable and made for your version of firmware.
Edit :Most mods are made for deodexed roms though.
Lock button = Power Button
And the Play list loss might be a bug, maybe even related to media scanner issue.

A mod that the lock button, when the camera app is open, becaume a shutter

is that possible on THE MAGNIFICIENT SII???

Depends on what stock rom you use. In the app section you can fint some mods but are sistem locked (they are different for 4.0.4 , 4.1.2 and their builds lsd, lsn etc.). You need to do a search for your exact rom and version for mod. And try to go for odex because of the stock rom (any mods you install).

Just wondering how many people actually use the fingerprint sensor on a daily basis...
I used it occasionally before I was unlocked and s-off, but since that happened, I dont care to bother getting it to work again, since, IMO, it was placed in a bad spot, and I always ended up smearing my camera lens when trying to use it. HTC should either move it or dump it, but thats food for another thread..
Post your feelings about it here!
I am using fingerprint in a daily basis.
I simply register 3 fingers, all of them to unlock screen.
When swiping those fingers (while registering), i place my palm 'not' inline vertically to the phone.
My palm is in casual position. Just like when casually holding the phone, which of fingers that are casually touch the scanner.
For me I swipe them a bit diagonally.
Once registered, It works flawlessly be it when phone in vertical or horizontal position.
Be it you swipe it upward or downward or even a bit right/left ward.
Sent from my HTC One max using xda app-developers app
I use to use it all the time however the fact the hardware is not used beyond the Security screen bothers me. I.E. password/Fingerprint authorizations change authorizations. It should be programmed to work outside of the security screen lock. I.E. buy something on Play Store it ask for a password you swipe. Like Apple did with touch ID.
I don't use it as I don't really like the position and the usability a lot. On my old phone, Atrix 4G I used it only in the beginning as well, never really had a need for it.
Sent from my HTC One max using Tapatalk
Use it everyhour.. thats my method of unlock.. quite better than typing a pin for me.
yes! I even removed my corporate exchange account in order to gain access to the scanner. part of the rules in using company exchange is they disable all of those options.
the chicks dig it too!!!! :highfive:
I love to use the Fingerprint. But i really don't like the position and when Finger lock security active. It alway disable the lockscreen pulldown nofitication. So.. .i disable this. Sadly
Wait... This thing has a fingerprint sensor???

even so, looks like most folks don't use it for one reason or the other..
for me, if it was somewhere else, and actually could be used for some real security, I might be more inclined to use it, but, for what it is now, I see no need to bother with it..

Lets hope the next phones of HTC put it at a better place...

But what better place do you think would be possible? i am wondering how a phone which does not have a physical home button can use a sensor in the front?!
Looking at poll, most of the population not using the fingerprint sensor, i am guessing it is going to be acceptable if the devs port ROM's from the One to the MAX without the fingerprint sensor and i am sure that will be easy and could be achieved by a beginner dev
that would be fantastic; there are so many great roms for the one, and I agree, 95% of us could care less about a functional fingerprint sensor, if we could have several more roms to choose from..
Had no clue this has a poll. Must not be viewable mobile which likely most of us viewing this forum are.

changed the title; thanks for the suggestion!:good:
I would like to think I'm pretty well informed. I browse the forums and did my homework before getting my G3, but yesterday I stumbled upon an article (I think it was "7 Things You Need to Know About Your G3") that showed a little trick that I hadn't seen mentioned the whole time I've been reading about the phone. When your Recents Panel is open if you pinch out slightly it will change from the small cluttered screens (I think it's 3x3) to a more zoomed in usable list (2x2) and if you pinch out even more it will go to the single column view!
I figured if I hadn't realized this yet there was bound to be a few others who didn't get the memo as well! (kind of like the hidden plastic tie-fighter on the power/volume buttons) Or if I WAS the only one then disregard my ignorance and have a nice day! :silly:

Yea I had read that article before, but it doesn't mention what I was talking about with the Recent Apps. Before yesterday hadn't seen any mention of it. Here's what I was talking about (number 4 on the list) http://blogs.computerworld.com/android/24192/lg-g3-tweaks
My bad. I didn't review that page before linking to it. Still it's good info.

Funny you mentioned this. I was also browsing around the other day and saw this could be done. Definitely a lot easier to deal with once you resize it.
We're chasing down WakeLocks and killing services and receivers yet had no idea that such a simple thing with Recents could be done lol

Thanks for posting this guys, showed me and my wife a few things we hadn't found.
I guess RTFM is way out of fashion. But I still downloaded the manual and put it in my Google Books for bedtime reading.

That's what's so awesome about smart phones is you can know exactly what you're doing with it but still overlook some neat little trick like this. Glad I could help you out! Plus looks way better once you zoom it in too. Less chaotic lol

No problem, glad I could help! Honestly I was surprised that I hadn't accidentally zoomed it in too before I knew it was possible.
