I was just browsing my SD card with astro trying to see if I could account for all the gbs I've used ...anyways I come across a folder titled bookmarks_thumb1 ..I go in and there is hundreds of screenshots of websites I have been to ...i looked at a couple and sure enough I came across private emails as well passwords etc...what worried me the most was a.shot of my bank account after I had already logged in which in this case didnt show much but what is it would of took a shot while I was at a sensitive page?
I'm not a worrying type but this unsettles me..can anyone explain this to me..why are they there? Can I erase the whole folder? Anyone can get into these files rather easily if they got ur phone but even worse where are these images being sent ?
You can erase it without problems and those thumbs pics are from when you go to windows ( pinching out to see what windows you have open ) that's why they made, if you want to use another browser and you won't see them

There are also.pics of inside apps..that has nothing to do with the browser..I googled it and i was reading something about sense UI tracking info on the Droid incredible.. I.dunno..I.don't understand why they are saved into my SD card..I.don't use any bookmarks except for 3 and don't really understand what you mean..I know when you pinch out you see the preview of other pages but why arent they cached..won't this folder get huge over time?
It will get big but it erased them after a while from what I seem, mm this been in the iPhone for a while but you have no way to access it (there was in story about how they caught someone cause he had an iPhone and it will take screenshots not only from web browser but dialer and other crappy) if you scared of this situation I would recommend you getting a dumbphone or so, I'm not being rude is just that how tech works I guess, yeah those tabs the little screen shot is not live is just a screenshot and the pics well it those pic thumbnails too, idk why would they be there but there is another folder as well
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Go to CDMI and .thumbnails folder you will see all your pics, and that's what you see when you go to the gallery , same thin in your pc/laptop you will get something like that as well

I don't know if i will call it conspiracy but this just sounds like the behavior of any desktop computer which pretty much does the same thing if you know where to look. But you could go to the browser and in the search box type about:debug, then go to settings scroll all the way down and uncheck enable cache. You have to redo it everytime you close your browser though.

One thing really bugging me about flashing roms is that the market automatically downloads my previous apps and i don't like that since i have titanium backup is there a way around this besides having to cancel all my 100+ apps?
Go to settings. Then go to privacy and uncheck backup my settings. Also make sure automatic restore is unchecked.

i just don't sign into gmail after a reset or whatever your reason one. after your phone boots up go to market manually and sign in. when i do it that way it doesn't restore any of my apps.
but laie is right, i did that once but my contacts didn't come up and had to fact reset again but then i was all good

Who said anything about doing when you first go through the initial setup. Of course you will do it after the options are unchecked.

I'm trying to get my phone to display the full webpage verse the mobile version. I tried using the old hack like on my Evo 4G. I unchecked mobile view in the browser settings, and tried entering "about:debug" in the browser and then changing the UI string to destop but it didn't change a thing.
Anyone else have a fix for this?
Why don't you just uncheck mobile view in browser settings?

either huge troll or didnt read OP's post.
Change the UI string to desktop
Lol just kidding, but I heard the about:debug reset back to default after you close the browser. So that may be your problem. You could also try dolphin browser, it has a desktop option .
I really don't want to change browser, but I might have too.

make sure you are not on the page you are trying to view.
Go to applications, find browser... force stop. Clear cache.open browser, do about debug. go to settings... clear cache and browsing history. have UI to desktop. mobile off (i know you did just sayin).
press back button.. go to the website... BUT YOU NEED TO ENTER the www. but for example....
www.youtube.com instead of youtube.com.
I dont understand i thought unchecking the mobile view does this already. It seems to do it on my phone. I cant find any website now that wont show as full web.

some sites break some times for some people. i know it isn't an exact science.... but all i did was uncheck mobile view, and most work fine... sometimes that isn't enough...
That worked! Google still shows as mobile, but so far other websites seem to be working.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
type about:debug in stock brower in address bar...hit enter...
that should work....try toggling from android to desktop....i use it all the time with no issues
not sure why it is not working for you
I have found on the stock browser if a page is consistently loading as a mobile version despite the mobile view check box being disabled that I can just type the full name of the web page preceded by http:// and it will bring up the normal PC version of the page up.
Example..
Don't just type www.whateverwebpage.com or whateverwebpage.com, type http://www.whateverwebpage.com and you will get the "PC" version.
My gfs evo 3d is currently crashing every app on bootup.. everything force closes.
Her contacts are not backed up. We cannot force a sync or get to the people option.
Is there anything we can do to pull her contacts? I am geeky so I can do almost anything..
Is the phone rooted? Also, contacts *should* automatically sync to google. Log into her gmail account on a computer and see if the contacts are dlready there.

She said she left it on her desk.. came back and the screen flashed and restarted.
Now when you boot it up there are 40 things that are constantly force closing. The only menu she can get to is settings. She cant get to contacts etc. Were just hoping there is anyway to pull her contacts.
I can get the phone to connect via USB to the computer but I dont know how to swipe her contacts.
We tried wondershare mobilego but it isnt letting her conect to her phone.
If she didn't sync any of the contacts with Google when she saved them in you could call that a lost. Your phone is acting whacky, and the only way to fix that it seems like is rooting. Or you could take it in for a replacement. Either way, those numbers are gone.

You have adb set up?
If so, try this:
adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db

BS. They could go into a sprint store and pull the contacts and put them on the new phone.

How many apps are installed on the phone?
I would reeeeally hate to think that the old 70~ max app bug that was in the old Hero has crept back in.
For those who may not know, the Hero had a nasty issue where if you had 70 or so apps installed, it would begin force closing everything, including core functions, after a reboot. Flashing back to stock, or an older Nandroid backup for root users, was the only solution.
Had this same problem a few weeks ago (unrooted too). Managed to get to the the Reset screen after a while and reset it. The Sprint store may be able to get your contacts but I am not positive.
How can I reinstall it in a Rom that the maker removed it?
Can't find any info on this.

Umm, well if you don't have a link to the zip file anymore, there is no way to install it. You will have to ask around and see if anyone has a copy of that zip file still.
if you just mean the built in google sync then you just have to install a google apps zip that will work with your rom to add all of google's stuff (including the sync/backup software)
I am specifically talking about the backup that takes place only when you start the phone for the first time.
After you sign in with your google account for the first time it asks if you would like to keep your phone backed up with google.
Many people don't like this feature because it reinstalls apps you had installed previously, but I like it becuase it reinstalls all and any WiFi passwords you have entered in your phone before.

Aww man I hate to say but I have to.
There's an app for that lol. Jk seriously though you could just make a notepad doc with your wifi pw and drop it on your sd and change the ext to jpeg and zip it. To view just unzip and change ext's. I've always done this since I've discovered rooting my phone. Its a few extra steps but worth it Imo.

I really prefer just letting Google backup reinstall all the passwords . I mean most runs leave this feature in, but I would like to re add it to miks as I really love his ROM minus the fact that he removed Google backup in the latest update.

Maybe I missed something but I thought Google just backed up contacts and such... I've NEVER seen password/data backup offered through them in the 3 yrs I've been using Android, but maybe I just didn't stop to read something on the getting started screen...
My Android devices have been doing backups that include passwords and such since June of 2010 with my og evo

Thank you everyone for taking the time to answer these type of questions !! No matter how good you leave the quality of your photos when you assign them to a contact and that contact calls, the photo looks very grainy. Is this due to a crapy HTC phone.apk? Is there a way to get the photos to look better other than installing something like, full screen caller I.D.?
I've noticed this too. The pictures that are linked from my Facebook contacts look fine, but the ones I took on my phone or come from Google contacts look bad when selected as contact pics

I downloaded full screen called I.D. and it allows me to save the contacts as HD pictures and it looks great, I just do not like how it has taken over my messaging as well and I have to close it to get to my normal messaging program.
Been a issue for a long long time. Even back on the EVO .

What seems to be happening is it scales and compresses the picture to look good as a tiny thumbnail (to save space) but then blows that up for other uses so it looks bad.

I have gone through that thumbnails folder before and that seems to make perfect sense, but someone dropped the ball there at HTC. Well, I just hope someone realizes the huge mistake that was and corrects it. Thanks coal!!
You can drop a script into your int.d folder to run at boot to prevent the blurred contact pics. I've been using the script for a while. I snatched it from myns old 3.5 rom. Not sure If I can post it because its there script. But if you dl the rom and extract it you can find it.
