[Q] Wifi Issue - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys,
After flashing the SolarFlare ROM, my phone has stopped picking up wireless networks. Once wireless is turned on, it'll scan and scan but never find a single one, even though I live in a block of flats that has several connections floating about (including my own).
I assumed it was the ROM so switched to the Sensation ROM, which I have used OK in the past and this did the same thing.
When I flashed both ROMs, I did the usual thing of wiping cache, data and dalvik cache. Any ideas to sort this issue out?
Thanks in advance

Data / Wifi / Bluetooth not working

I have read thru a few threads, but they all vary so I am not sure if this is the same issue so i apologize in advance if there is a thread with an answer somewhere...I certainly hope it is not a hardware issue!!...ugh..
I recently flashed Nottach's ROM to my Atrix 4G (excellent ROM!) and was in the process of loading apps and "fine tuning" it to my style and preference when I noticed that my WiFi, Bluetooh and Data are no longer working. I didnt install anything other than a couple of apps that I have been using (GoLauncher, ADW Locker, etc.) so I am not sure why everything stopped working.
I can still make and receive calls and text messages, but I am unable to connect to WiFi ( it sees WiFi signals but it doesnt get past "Obatining IP Address"). Bluetooh enables and disables right away. And I dont see any activity from the Data icon.
I have tried reflashing the ROM, Factory Reset, Wiping Partition/Dalvik, Resetting Permissions, etc. but none of these seem to have an effect on the issue.
I have seen other posts in various forums where some one mentions similar issues and they talk about flashing the antenna via RSD to get it to work, but links to the antenna ROM all seem to be broken.
Any help in getting this resolved would be GREATLY appreciated!
FYI - My phone is Unlocked and I believe it is still Rooted.
Thanks!
Well.. after playing around with reinstalling the ROM I set the Kernal back to Stock AT&T and everything appears to be working again.
So I think the fact that I was using the Faux 1.3Ghz kernal may have caused the issue, which is odd since everything was working fine for about a day before the problem started happening.
Oh well.. i will play around with different kernals to see if there may be a compatability issue some where.
Hopefully this info helps others.

[Q] NFC not working at all

I was running stock T-Mobile Sense 5, pre-OTA update, when I wanted to try using NFC. I turned it on in settings, downloaded a bunch of apps to use with it...and got nothing, regardless of how close I held the card or where I placed it or how slowly I moved it.
I thought perhaps the HTC Menu button hack I'd installed might have been affecting things so I went to remove it...and somehow killed my phone. No worries! I'll install HTC One Google Play Edition! Except NFC still doesn't work. I make sure it is active, launch the apps, try to scan the card (a California Clipper card) and nothing happens.
Would love to be able to use this feature, since the next step is buying NFC stickers. Heeelpppp!!!
ive noticed with the htc One whenever ive flashed a sense rom i usually have to wipe data and do a factory reset then clear cache sepperatly then dalvik cache sepperately. Other wise stuff like wifi or bluetooth refuses to start or will start and wont find any networks or devices. Its hilarious i have the most serious issues on Stock sense ROM's then i do on custom ROMs (like 4.3 rom's)
in a nutshell after booting a sense ROM for the first time and noticing stuff is borked i do a factory reset in recovery clear cache then dalvik cache then reboot.
i shouldnt have to tell you that you should backup before trying this... as its going to obliterate all data aka pictures videos apps etc etc

[Q] Data stops working on AOSP roms but works on stock Samsung. Why?

Hi,
After flashing a build of CM11 back in February, I've had problems with the data-connection (2G/3G/H, etc.). It works when starting the phone, but suddenly it just dies. It looks like it's working, but no data seems to be transferred. I have to turn data off for a minute or five, and back on. The it usually works for a while again, until it dies...again..
I've fullwiped (except SDcard and internal SDcard), and tried several modems. Then I went from CM back to Ultima ROM (based on stock Samsung), and used it for a couple of days. Data worked perfectly. Thinking it solved the problem, I tried Omni again, after wiping/formatting data, system, cache and Dalvik. Installed it, data seems to work, but after a few hours, it just dies again.. The signal icon still has the H+ connection, etc, but I can't use it. Just like it's offline.
Any ideas?
Use GSM Network

This is EXACTLY what happened with me. I don't use WCDMA Network now. Use GSM Network (EDGE). I hope it'll get fixed in Android 4.4.4 and we'll be able to use 3G again..
On GSM Network, I never faced such a problem even on CM ROMs.
The weird thing was that I had no problems using 4.4.x version of CM of the January builds with 3G. They worked great when it came to data. And it doesn't seem to be a common problem, as I haven't read about more than one or two users before me. Switching to 2G/Edge does seem to work. Might be a coincidence, but I'm going to leave it on 2G for a while, just to check.
Either way I would love to use 3G on AOSP. If not, I would have to go back to stock Samsung..
First I thought maybe it happened because of damaged IMEI .. But 2G works! So it's not..
weird problem.. It isn't like the phone says it's not connected to network.

I tried Intelli3G with Xposed, but 3G didn't help either, so I forced it to 2G (within Intelli3G). That seemed to work. After an hour or two (still working), I tried (for the fun of it, since I hate 2G) to press *#*#4636#*#* and under Phone Information, I changed to WCDMA preferred. Data has been working stable since last evening. Might be a coincidence, but I'm crossing my fingers. I've disabled Intelli3G as well. Haven't rebooted after disabling it though. I'm afraid it wold stop working.
Restart seemed to work ok. For some reason it was set to 2G (GSM) only. I changed that to WCDMA preferred again. Seemed to work. I then enabled Wifi to update som apps, and then disabled Wifi. It reconnected to 3G, but now the connection is dead again.
If I go from 3G to Wifi and back to 3G, the connection seems to die. I open Intelli3G, change the mode to WCDMA/GSM auto or any other so data disconnects, and change it back to WCDMA preferred. Data now working. Don't know if I should stop using Wifi at the moment (if it's the transition between Wifi and data that stops it), or go back to stock 4.3, where it seems to be working as it should.
At least I have an (almost) unlimited dataplan, so data on 3G and no wifi is probably best all over, even though wifi at work and home is a lot faster than 3G..
Data has been stable on 2G/3G since yesterday. I've turned off Wifi completely. It's not a solution by a long shot, but at least I know data is working stable (so far) as long as Wifi is off.

[Q] Single Phone with Wrong Location on VZW Network Extender

Hello, all.
I seem to have a tricky one. Two days ago, I decided to give CM12 a try on my OG Moto X dev edition. Turns out I couldn't forgo Xposed, so I reverted to my nandroid backup. The install of CM12 was preceded by a wipe of data and system and an install of CM11, followed by a dirty flash of CM12, as per the rom instructions. Both CM12 and reverting to Kitkat went well, with no noticeable hiccups.
When I booted to CM12, I noticed my weather app referencing a location in Colorado. I live in Arizona, so that's quite a bit of error, but I didn't pay additional attention to it at the time. After I got back to Kitkat, I realized it was still giving me an incorrect location. After some further investigation, I determined my Net location was very off, but my device GPS was spot on. I have a VZW network extender at my house (acts like a mini cell tower and routes calls over the home broadband) so I suspected it was giving out the wrong location. While it was powered down, I was getting a correct Net location, but once it powered back up, I was back to the precise same wrong location. I have tried rebooting the extender, router, cable modem, and phone. I have also cleared the cache and dalvik cache on the phone.
To further complicate things, this is not consistent. My dad has a Note 3 which, when connected to the extender, has correct net and gps location. Phones expected to be connect the extender were confirmed by dialing #48.
Is there something I'm missing here? I been a fair flash-ohalic on previous phones, but far less on this one, but I've never seen something like this before. Thanks ahead for any help.
I have since reverted to full stock 4.4.4 via fast boot recovery files. I tried that pure, as well as Eclipse ROM (4.4.4). Both still exhibit the location error. I also cleared my location history from Google. Sigh...

Mobile data not working after WiFi disconnect [T-Mobile]

Hey everyone,
I did a clean flash of OOS 2.2.1 a week ago. Now every time I go out or disconnect from WiFi, the LTE triangle always shows an "!" and I have no data. It's kind of a pain because I move around a lot and I have to keep toggling data or rebooting.
Is anybody else having this issue? I tried flashing a new ROM (CM13) but the issue still persists. My APN settings are correct, so it's definitely not that.
I've actually experienced this too on CM13.
I was about to create a thread with just this issue. I thought I had experienced this before CM13 updates, but not sure now.
Basically, when wifi connection is off or lost, mobile data will not work.
I have yet to actually work out the permutations of what causes the issue and the actual fix but essentially it goes like this:
Apply new ROM with clean, 'by the book' install.
Wifi works fine.
Disconnect wifi and mobile data doesn't work.
Check settings, all appears OK, but click data off and on again etc
Reboot
Wifi and mobile data work as expected.
Now that's at my home!
Leave house and mobile data doesn't work.
Check settings, all still appears OK, again, switch off/on etc
Reboot
Wifi and mobile data work again fine.
I have not conducted a proper scientific analysis of this, but I am wondering whether it's to do with changing radio towers. Once configured phone is good until new radio tower encountered.
I have just installed a new ROM and fixed the mobile data issue at home. All seems great.
Next time I go out I will see whether I lose mobile data if the radio tower changes.
I have tried about 6 different ROMs and all suffer the same issue.
I have become so frustrated with it that I am even considering changing my phone.
Okay so I fixed it but I'm not sure what initially caused it. When I clean flashed from 2.2.0.X to 2.2.1 via TWRP I started getting the issue.
However, I got it to work by reverting back to 2.2.0.X then updating to 2.2.1 via OTA. No longer having issues with data. Though I haven't flashed any CM13 ROMs so I can't say those work properly.
Not sure what went wrong initially, but it must have something to do with the radio. Hopefully this helps everyone else who is having problems.
